Happiest of Birthday to you….

Stampin' Up! UK Birthday Blooms Card Class Watercolour

Over the next couple of weeks I will be sharing some of the cards I designed for my March Card Class. Registration is now open for my April Card Class – just drop me an email for more info!

Stampin' Up! UK Birthday Blooms Card Class Watercolour

I loved making this card. You all know how many times I have watercoloured this flower from Birthday Blooms, but this was the first time I coloured it in blue, so soft and pretty. I took inspiration for this colour palette directly from the Designer Series Paper, where the flowers are Pool Party and Mint Macaron. I’m a sucker for colour, one of the many reasons I love Stampin’ Up!®. All the colours are gorgeous and work so well together, even when you might look at them and think ‘hmmm, maybe not’. So, here I’ve used Mint Macaron and Pool Party for the flower, Mint Macaron and Mossy Meadow the the leaves (it doesn’t look so odd in person!), with So Saffron for the centres and Blushing Bride for the halo around the image. I did colour some of the leaves with a light shade of Tip Top Taupe but its hard to see it in this photo

The card is finished with a strip of the Desigher Series Paper, a bow of Pool Party Glitter ribbon and one of the cute bow paper clips!

English Garden Birthday

Stampin' Up! UK Crazy About You birthday card

I’m sure many of you know that I make birthday cards for a nursing home, many care home residents don’t have anyone to send them a card except the home itself, and then its the cheapest card they can find. They smiles from the residents when they open a birthday card, a special, hand made birthday card – its wonderful.

So, the activities coordinator of this home approached me last month and asked for a batch of cards, so this is what I made ….

Stampin' Up! UK English Garden Birthday card

I have to say here, this is totally not my card design, and takes some serious inspiration from THIS CARD that I found on Pinterest.

Stampin' Up! UK Crazy About You birthday card

I’m loving this Designer Series Paper, English Garden from this years Annual catalogue, its just so damn pretty! and features some gorgeous colours, and I’m STILL trying to use up my stack of Designer Series Paper and these cards a a great way of using up loads of paper, as each card uses 1/6th of a piece of paper.

The Happy is taken from the Crazy About You stamp and die bundle, another favourite pick from this Annual catalogue!

Stampin Up! Uk Crazy About You English Garden

I made 6 of these cards, 2 in each colour and they were super simple and quick to put together, and the ladies absolutely LOVED them!

Are you interested in making some birthday cards for those older people living in our care homes (UK only) drop me a message and see how you can help me out with my latest project!

Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge – Birthday Blooms

Stampin' Up! Sketch Challenge

Welcome to the second Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge of 2016! It’s Sam’s birthday today so she’s left me in charge (silly lady!) and I am hoping that her card has arrived in time, otherwise this blog post is a bit of a spoiler! So, Happy Birthday Sam!

It’s a sad sketch today actually, this weeks sketch was designed by the lovely Debbie Bradley but unfortunately she has been unable to take part in the hop 🙁 Thinking of you Debbie xx

Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge

I’ve been dreaming of this sketch; seriously, I woke up one morning this week with my card fully formed in my head! If I had had the energy to get up at 5AM and make the card that would have been awesome, but I didn’t (sleep was much more important at 5AM) and so my card isn’t the one I was dreaming of….. but its similiar

Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge - Feb 13

I’ve been designed projects for my March cardmaking class this week and so this stamp set has been open on the desk. I love colouring and I have lost count of the number of times I have watercoloured this flower, but this time I’ve used Stampin’ Write markers. The flower is coloured in Blushing Bride and Calypso Coral, and the leaves are Pear Pizzazz and Old Olive, with a outline of Basic Black. I thought fussy cutting this would take AGES but actually, once I got going with my craft knife, it didn’t take that long. One of the things I enjoy doing once I’ve fussy cut something is to colour in the edge of the card stock – I just think it makes for a nice finished edge – so after I had cut, I ran my Basic Black Stampin’ Write marker around the edge.Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge - Feb 13 - 2

This card had to have a piece of Designer Series Paper, like on most cards at the moment as I’m challenging myself to have as little Designer Series Paper left when this Annual catalogue ends in May. So this Designer Series Paper is from the Birthday Bouquet pack (LOVE!).

Seeing as this is a birthday card, I had to find a birthday sentiment that would fit – the birthday sentiment in the Birthday Blooms stamp set was just a little big – so I hunted through my stamp shelves and found this beauty from Endless Birthday Wishes. I did try stamping it and punching it out with the Washi Label punch but then it didn’t really fit. So I put on my big girl pants and stamped straight onto a card that I could have called finished! Scary, but it worked! Yay!

I hope you enjoy the rest of the hop, and don’t forget to wish Sam Johnson a very Happy Birthday when you come across her blog!

January Thank you cards and Code Club gifts!

Stampin' Up! UK A Nice Cuppa Thank you card

I have been trying to get this post up for over a week, but for reasons totally outside of my control I didn’t manage to get gifts posted out to customers until the middle of the week.

Stampin' Up! UK A Nice Cuppa Thank you card

I had great fun making these cards for this past month’s customer thank you cards using the A Nice Cuppa bundle and the Pretty Petals Designer Series Paper.

Stampin' Up! UK A Nice Cuppa Thank you

How cute is that spoon!

This card was super simple to make, die cutting the cup from Old Olive card stock, and the milk jug from Very Vanilla, and that spoon from Gold Foil Paper. Adding a strip of Designer Series Paper and stamping the ‘Thank  You’ in Watermelon Wonder.

Lovely

January Code Club Code Gifts

I have also sent this months Code Club Code gifts. I have to admit an error here on my part, usually the Code Club gift is a clear mount stamp set or some embellishments – but when I was ordering for you guys this month I managed to order wood mount by accident! Silly me, but I hope you love them as much as I do.

Celebrate….

Stampin' Up! UK Celebrate Suite Sayings Birthday Blooms

Over the past few months I have been trying to make cards with bright colours (trying to stave off the winter blues!) but I found myself making a monotone card last week. Does this happen to anyone else, when a project just arrives fully formed on the desk and you have no real idea how the hell it got there! It doesn’t happen often, but its wonderful when it does

Stampin' Up! UK Celebrate Suite Sayings Birthday Blooms

I spotted a card on Pinterest a few weeks ago that just used this one flower from Birthday Blooms. I have to admit that I had to go and look for the stamp, because I had completely over looked it! Shocking! I love a simple line image, and this is just perfect stamped in Early Espresso and blurred slightly with a blender pen.

You might recognise the sentiment, its from Suite Sayings (again, I know, I’m in love ok!), the stamp usually reads Celebrate You but I masked off the You with some of my trusty sticky label tape before inking in Early Espresso. I love this way of getting more out of your sentiment stamps, but y remember to remove that stick label before stamping or you may end up with an inky mess

Stampin' Up! UK Birthday Blooms monotone card

Even though the rest of the card is Early Espresso and Very Vanilla, I think the addition of the Typeset map paper matt really adds to this one. I’m still working my way through a backlog of Designer Series Paper, I do have a plan for most of it though, just got to find the time to make a heap of cards!

Rose Wonder

Stampin' Up! UK Rose wonder birthday card

I’ve recently volunteered to make the birthday cards for the residents in the nursing home where I work. We have up to 69 residents at one time, so I probably should get cracking! There are also a heap of family birthdays in January, so you may well be seeing a whole heap of birthday cards on the blog in the coming weeks!

Stampin' Up! UK Rose Wonder

I am loving the Rose Wonder stamp and die bundle! The dies are so pretty and delicate, and the stamp set includes a host of really handy sentiments including birthday, wedding, and sympathy.

The Rose is totally the star of this card – to create this particular rose I die cut the flower from Lost Lagoon card stock and a matching piece of Designer Series Paper from the Going Places stack. I did the same with the leaves, using Mossy Meadow card stock and a similar piece of Designer Series Paper. I have been experimenting with adhesives to stick these dies down, I’m not normally a wet glue gal, however, I love using Tombow or the 2-way glue pen on these die cuts. I stuck the rose down to a piece of Very Vanilla card stock, and then inlaid the die cut pieces of the Designer Series Paper. This allowed me to fussy cut the rose and pop the whole thing up onto dimensionals. The leaves are stuck directly onto the Very Vanilla card front.

Stampin' Up! UK Rose wonder birthday card

The strange patterns on the card stock of the rose was a bit of a mistake, but by the time I had got the rose assembled I wasn’t about to start again! Once I had stuck all the pieces stuck I ran the Rose back through my Big Shot, this proved to be a mistake, as my rather battered big shot plates embossed their marks into my rose! oops!

The card was just a little plan, and so I added some Delightful Dijon ink onto the Very Vanilla card front with a sponge.

Dear Friend…

Stampin' Up! UK Circle Card

I’m live blogging again today, before I spend a large part of the rest of my day scheduling posts for the next few weeks! I’m slowly getting back on schedule after a crazy Christmas, I’m sure everyone else is still in a period of adjustment after the New Year too (please say I’m not the only one!)

This past weekend I hosted my first event of 2016, we had a great time stamping and chatting – you can see what we made by subscribing to my Weekly Newsletter.

Stampin' Up! Uk Birthday Bouquet Dear Friend

I was totally inspired by a card I found on Pinterest for this one. I couldn’t wait to cut into this gorgeous Designer Series Paper here either, this is the brand new Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper; featuring a lovely mix of florals and small patterns, and some gorgeous balloons that I haven’t been able to cut yet!

Stampin' Up! UK Circle Card

Did you see that bow?! I know, I am totally shocked too! I love this ribbon, even someone as bow challenged as me can manage to tie this stuff, and it is SO pretty!

The Dear Friend, is taken from the Birthday Blooms stamp set (another new stamp set that I can’t put down!), stamped in Pool Party to coordinate with that ribbon and the lovely Designer Series Paper.

Sketch Challenge| Global Design Project 018

Stampin' Up! UK Just Saying Hello

Hello!

Sorry for my slightly late post for today, been trying to catch up on photographing my projects this morning, and time sort of ran away from me a little bit! I’ve actually been quite prolific this weekend, and have made a stack of cards – which makes me feel so much better as I was beginning to think that my crafting mojo had up and left! but a stressful weekend of work On Call has led me back to my crafty stress relief!

Anyway, I thought I would take a sketch challenge today, I’ve been following the Global Design Project for a little while, but actually jumping in and creating anything for one of the challenges has been somewhat of a challenge in itself! Well, this week I’m on holiday from my day job (thank goodness!) and so am taking time to craft and blog. So this morning I was having a little browse through Facebook and was reminded of this challenge by the lovely Michelle Last.

So here is my take on this weeks Global Design Project Sketch Challenge!

Global Design Project sketch challenge 018

I love a good sketch challenge! speaking of which the Simple Sketched Saturday Challenge Blog Hop is back this week! Yay! I have been sitting on my project for this weekend for a while, I can’t wait to share! anyway, getting back to THIS sketch challenge…..

Stampin' Up! UK Global Design Project Sketch Challenge

I’m still trying super hard to cut into my packs of Designer Series Paper. I am determined not to have heaps of the stuff left at the end of the this Annual catalogue (unlike last year!) and so am trying to use papers more on cards. Now, I know I have sinned here; layering two patterns one on top of the other without card stock between, but somehow I think it works. I love this paper in particular; its the English Garden Designer Series Paper from the annual catalogue, it is gorgeous! I’m a sucker for colour and at the moment I am totally in love with all things Rose Red.

Stampin' Up! UK Just Saying Hello

The ‘Hello’ is taken from the Hello Stamp Set (in this years Sale-a-bration offering) along with that cute smiley face. Hello is stamped in Rose Red and fussy cut with my paper snips. I am not a world expert at fussy cutting, but I give it my best, and I’m fairly pleased with this effort. The smiley face and ‘Just Sayin” (from Crazy About You) are both stamped in Marina Mist, as is the flower stamp in the background.

I loved creating this card, and will certainly be taking the Global Design Project challenge again!

Pootlers Sale-a-bration Blog Hop!

bog hop-001

Oh yes, its that time again! Time for a Pootler’s blog hop. This week we are celebrating the launch of Sale-a-bration – the biggest promotion of the year – where Stampin’ Up! gives you a free gift for each and every £45 you spend! (in one order!). Plus there are great deals for hostesses and new team members too!

So, please hop around our blogs today, the girls have worked so hard to create some great projects featuring our free products, use the next and previous buttons at the bottom of this post to hop along to Anna and her wonderful project

SAB blog hop

I will admit that thought I organise the Pootler’s blog hops, this time for me it has all been a bit of a mad rush. Over the 2 weeks of Christmas I managed to get 3 days off, and so my business has had to take a bit of a back seat. However, things are slowly getting back to normal, and with the launch of the latest catalogue and start of Sale-a-bration I’m all yours again.

This card features two of the Sale-a-bration products for this year. The Designer Series Paper is called Wildflower Fields. I love the colour combination of this paper, Blackberry Bliss, Lost Lagoon, Calypso Coral, Hello Honey and Old Olive, just gorgeous! I featured this paper last week as well, during my Sneak Peek feature, as I included some samples of it in my customer catalogues.

The Hello is taken from one of the limited time products also called Hello, only available until 15th February, this adorable stamp set would be perfect for children’s birthdays or new babies.

I’ve added a few sequins from the Brights Sequin Assortment that the lovely Sam (aka: Pootles) sent me last month, not only are they great colours (of course!) but there are several different shapes of sequins in the pack, circles, hearts and stars. And who doesn’t love a couple of sequins!

Hope you’ve enjoyed our hop today, see you again in 2 weeks for some great Spring / Summer catalogue inspiration

You are my greatest adventure….

I’m sure that no one except me is already thinking about Valentines day…. It’s not something we particularly celebrate (one of us is usually at work! and I am NOT paying all that money just to have dinner out!) but we do give each other a card.

Going Places valentines

Manly looking Valentines are hard though, really hard! But this year it is a little easier thanks to Stampin’ Up! and the Going Global stamp set and Going Places Designer Series Paper. I’m loving the current selection of Designer Series Papers, Did you know that if you join my team during Sale-a-bration I will send you a 6 x 6 pack of Designer Series Paper for free!

This card uses a couple of punches; the Sweetheart punch coordinates with the stamp from Going Global, while the 3 smaller hearts are from the Itty Bitty Accents punch pack.
