Make It Monday | Flirty Flamingo

Make It Monday using Pop of Paradise from Stampin' Up! UK

Make It Monday with Stampin' Up!

Hello! Oh, this is such a BIG week here at StampinByHannah! On Wednesday I have a heap of stuff to post as the 2016 Annual Catalogue goes live! I am so excited to shop with you from this awesome new book. I do have a couple of days of sneaky peaks before we get there though….

Starting with today’s Make It Monday!

Make It Monday using Pop of Paradise from Stampin' Up! UKThis card is so fun! I will admit that this Flamingo stumped me when I first came across it in the catalogue. I have had the catalogue in my hands since mid-April, when I attended Stampin’ Up! On Stage, and the girls I was sat with that day will tell you I have absolutely no idea what happened on the stage as I couldn’t pull my eyes away from the catalogue, pen in hand, making notes of things for all of you! But this flamingo, which comes in a set that also includes a Pineapple, had me baffled! And then it appeared in the very short list available for demonstrators available to pre-order, and I didn’t buy it, but then my Facebook and Pinterest feeds filled up with Flamingos, and somehow this dude ended up on my stamp shelf! So, I have it, I MUST use it!

So, this is one of my first cards featuring the Flamingo. But I had this card in my head, particularly the technique I have used on the Flamingo itself.

Flirty Flamingo Pop of Paradise from Stampin' Up! UKThe Flamingo was coloured using the In-Colour Stampin’ Write markers in Flirty Flamingo and Peekaboo Peach. I did a test stamp onto Whisper White, and this effect was just gorgeous, I will probably share that at some point – but not today. The Designer Series Paper on the side of the watercolour paper comes from two different packs (sorry!) the Black stripes are from the Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack, and the other piece with the beautiful gold confetti is from the new Pop of Pink Speciality Designer Series Paper, so super pretty.

I hope you enjoyed my waffle-y video today, I have to apologise that I won’t be posting a Fancy Fold Friday this week, but I do have several other videos coming this week instead!

Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge | May 2016

Stampin' Up! UK Birthday Card English Garden

Stampin' Up! Sketch ChallengeIts that time again, I am so excited to see what everyone has made based on the sketch this month! I have chosen to use some Designer Series Paper that is on the retiring list and will sadly leave us on 31st May, but I am sure that some of the girls will show me some sneaky peaks of new products, and I cannot wait!

Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge May 2016

This months awesome Sketch is brought to us by Kathleen from lilypopcrafts.

Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge English Garden Birthday card using Stampin' Up! products

My challenge with this sketch was the diagonal element. I selected the Designer Series Paper – English Garden – based on the flowers on the sketch, but new I didn’t want to cut the corner off my paper. I had a little play around with the paper before coming up with this paper curl idea. I curled the Designer Series Paper around my paper piercer (you could use a pencil or a paint brush, anything round would work to be honest) and held the curl with a few Mini Glue Dots.

The Happy Birthday is from the Tin of Cards stamp set, and fits perfectly into the Decorative Label punch. I really wanted to create a boarder around the sentiment, and so cut apart a further 2 decorative label punch pieces (in Melon Mambo) to create a boarder.

Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge Blog Hop Birthday Envelope English GardenOnce I had created the card I realised that it wouldn’t fit in a standard envelope, and so grabbed another piece of the same Designer Series paper and my Envelope Punch Board to create custom envelope.

Instructions:

Designer Series Paper – 8 7/8 x 8 7/8″ (I’m sticking to Imperial Measurements today, because I find them easier on the Envelope Punch Board)

Punch and Score on the first side at 3 3/8, and on the same sideat 4 1/8″

Rotate the paper by 90 degrees, line up the previous score lines with the marker on the punch board, punch and score. Repeat on all four sides.

Fold and burnish on the score lines, to create your envelope

Stampin' Up! UK Birthday Card English GardenI completed the envelope with a belly band of Night of Navy card stock (26 x 5 cm, Scored on the long side at 11, 12.5, 23.5 and 25 cm). The sentiment is heat embossed in white, and the flowers and butterfly are taken from the Garden in Bloom Stamp set.

Go Wild with Watercolour Wings!

Watercolour Wings Card using Stampin' up! Uk products

Hello! Happy Thursday! I thought I would share a card I sent to a friend a couple of weeks ago with you guys today. I know this card has arrived, and so is ‘safe to share!’

Watercolour Wings Card using Stampin' up! Uk products

This card uses the 2-step stamping technique I shared on Monday. However, instead of using Picture Perfect I grabbed Watercolour Wings! I am so super happy this stamp set is stopping around a while longer.  I used the Designer Series Paper for the colour inspiration. I love that Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Paper coordinates exactly with our inks and card stocks – which means that we can take the colours from the papers and know that the colours work together. I did add a colour into the mix, seeing as Go Wild featured a totally neutral palate, I added a touch of Rich Razzleberry.

Watercolour wings 2 step stamping using stampin up uk products

The butterfly is stamped in 3 layers; the base layer is Sahara Sand, with layer two in Crumb Cake and the final detail in Rich Razzleberry. I find it easier to die cut this butterfly (using the coordinating framelit die) before I stamp in the butterfly body – I cannot tell you how many headless butterflies I had before I figured that out!

This card was finished with a series of loops of Gold Metallic Thread behind the butterfly and the sentiment heat embossed in White.

Fancy Fold Friday | Diagonal Double Pocket Planner Insert

Fancy Fold Friday Diagonal Double Pocket Fold Planner Insert

Fancy Fold Friday

I am loving being back with my Fancy Fold Fridays! I hope you are too!

I am not going to limit myself though just to cards, I know I love a fancy fold card as much as the next crazy paper lady however I am going to include some other folding projects too, and this is one of those.

Fancy Fold Friday Diagonal Double Pocket Fold Planner Insert

Pinterest has a LOT to answer for here! I have a whole board of fancy fold ideas, and this popped up one day, I love the idea but the measurements are for 8 1/2 x 11″ card stock AKA: American sized paper! which when you live an A4 sized world is really annoying. But I chopped down a piece of 12×12 Designer Series Paper to give it ago anyway, and chucked it into my planner – I store heaps of cards and ideas in my planner including prototypes – and I had an epiphany, what an AWESOME planner insert! Plus, trying to cut a piece of 12×12 Designer Series Paper down to A4 is a bit of a nuisance.

I use an Erin Condren Life Planner (LOVE!) but you could totally fit these into other types planners just by punching the appropriate holes. They are a great place to store tickets, receipts, business cards and other important bits of paper.

Diagonal Double Pocket Planner Insert Erin Condren Planner using Stampin' Up! UK Designer Series Paper

The insert I am currently using uses the retiring English Garden Designer Series Paper which is so super pretty, but the one in the video uses a piece of the Neutrals Designer Series Paper stack, which includes pieces of Gold and Silver (so lovely) that would make gorgeous planner inserts!

Go Wild Scrapbook Page

12x12 Scrapbook page Engagement shoot Designer Series Paper Stampin' Up!

Something that you may not know about me, is that originally I was a 12×12 scrapbooker, and I only started making cards to use up my scraps of patterned paper. I don’t tend to show you guys much memory keeping on the blog, mainly because I don’t get much time to make 12×12 layouts very often anymore. However, I am about to embark on the enormous project that is my Wedding Album! I have everything ready, I just haven’t gotten around to printing the pictures! I am hoping to have at least made a start on the album by the time our first anniversary rolls around in August.

12x12 Scrapbook page Go Wild Designer Series Paper Rose Wonder Stampin' Up! UK

So, this layout will be finding its way into the Wedding Album, as it is part of our Engagement photo shoot.

12x12 Scrapbook page Engagement shoot Designer Series Paper Stampin' Up!

I was challenged by my wonderful upline to use up a pack of Designer Series Paper a few weeks ago. At a Team Training event she presented us all with a pack of the Go Wild Designer Series Paper, as well as a couple of embellishment type bits and bobs and asked us to see what we could create. I have a whole heap of card using this paper now – which you will see if you are subscribed to my Email Newsletter today.

Wedding Album 12x12 Scrapbook page Rose Wonder Stampin' Up! UK

The layout is actually pretty simple. There are several layers of Designer Series Paper and Card Stock behind the photo. Because I enjoy the layered effect some of the layers have raised corner – popped up with a dimensional, and then I die cut the Rose Garden thinlits out of Blushing Bride Card Stock as embellishments. The title is stamped using the Layered Letters Alphabet, and the layout was completed with a scattering of Blushing Bride sequins.

The Go Wild Designer Series Paper stack is retiring soon (end of May) and is currently available for a reduced price of £5.08! Awesome!

Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge | April 2016

Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge Thank Card using Go Wild Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up! UK

Stampin' Up! Sketch Challenge

Hello! Long time to see! I have really missed this hop over the past couple of weeks, I can’t wait to hop around and see what the girls have created with this weeks sketch from Karen

Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge April 2016

I was totally intimidated by this sketch. I have no idea why, but the whole thing really scared me. I stared at this sketch for over a fortnight before I had any inspiration what so ever, to the point where when Sam Johnson messaged me earlier in the week to remind me that the hop was this weekend, I had such a panic!

Once I had re-composed myself I started to look around my craft room. My shelves are currently looking kinda bare after I’ve removed all the stamp sets and embellishments that are retiring at the end of May. I don’t tend to share retiring products, I would hate for you to spot something I posted this week on my blog and go to shop only to find that it has already gone and you missed out. But please do use the link at the bottom of this post to check out the things that are retiring.

I almost used new products, but then felt bad that you wouldn’t be able to shop for them until 1st June – and that still feels like a very long way away!

Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge Thank Card using Go Wild Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up! UK

I also apologise for this photograph, I took my camera away with me last weekend, and I think the travelling has upset it because I cannot get a clear crisp image for love nor money! Looks like its time for a new camera!

Anyway, this card uses the Suite Sayings stamp set (staying with us for another 12 months) as well as some Designer Series Paper that is retiring – Go Wild! oh, and that ribbon is on the goodbye list too (I’m not good at not using retiring products am I!)

Card Measurements:

Card Base – (Half A4 folded in half ) – 14.85 x 21 cm scored on the long side at 10.5 cm

Card Layers – Whisper White Card stock – 14.2 x 10 cm, Designer Series Paper – 14.2 x 7 cm, Designer Series Paper – 14.2 x 2 cm

Whisper White Banner – 3 x 6.5 cm and cut into a banner

Butterfly Basics Week – Sending Wishes Your Way

Stampin' Up! UK Butterfly Basics English Garden Card

I’m loving this week of cards featuring Butterfly Basics! I love this stamp set, it can be found in the Annual catalogue on page 124, under Artistic Expression – but don’t let that title put you off. Its a great set of stunning images and two great sentiments that are perfect for so many occasions.

Stampin' Up! UK Butterfly Basics English Garden Card

This card also features a piece of English Garden Designer Series Paper as I continue my mission to get my Designer Series Paper used up rather than just sat (looking very pretty) on the shelf!

The fern is stamped in Old Olive and stamped off 3 times, all on the card, creating this great variation in colour. The flower stem was stamped over the top in Always Artichoke – I’m still not sure about this bit, but I LOVE the fussy cut flowers, a little tricky but well worth it

Stampin' Up! UK Butterfly Basics Thinking of you card

I love greens and pinks together, so fresh and pretty for spring

Happy Birthday Husband

Stampin' Up! UK Mans birthday card Guy Greetings

It was James’ birthday on Good Friday, but what with the end of Sale-a-bration rearing its head I didn’t get around to posting the card until now.

James is always very supportive of my card making, but I think he gets a little nervous when it comes time for me to make a card for him. James is a manly sort of bloky sort of fellow, he doesn’t do flowers or pink or ribbon or anything remotely feminine at all (I am solely responsible for anything remotely ‘homely’ in our house, he would have a sofa and a fridge and a TV and call it home!) so cards aren’t really something he would spend time or effort in choosing, let along making for anyone!

Stampin' Up! UK Mans birthday card Guy Greetings

I love creating super simple cards for James. He has started to make cards for me (just because he knows I like a handmade card) and always goes to town on ink blending and punches, he actually bought his own card blanks because he was too scared to touch my card stock (rightly so!). So, when it comes to make a card for James I like to keep things simple, in the hope that one day he might calm down on the ink and punches!

Anyway, this card features the stamp set Guy Greetings and Going Places Designer Series Paper. I love the travel theme of this paper, its a full stack of 6 x 6 papers printed with maps and street plans, along with some great marble type prints – all of which are great for guys.

Stampin' Up! UK Guy Greetings Going Places Designer Series paper

‘Husband’ fits perfectly into the Washi Label punch, while I grabbed my Circle collection framelits and my big shot for the anchor. Both stamps are from Guy Greetings and are stamped in Lost Lagoon. I remember a few years ago watching Shimelle Lane on YouTube create these great Scrapbook layouts using masses of Patterned Paper and she ALWAYS inked the edges to get the to ‘go together’ and I thought I would use the same technique here, so once I had all my pieces I grabbed out my Sahara Sand ink and a sponge and inked all the papers – I love the effect

Even James said it loved it!

Success at last
