Watercolour Wings just for you….

Stampin' Up! Watercolour Wings

I am loving this stamp set so much! So much that it is my Stampin@Home class for September! (more details of that at the bottom of this post!)

Stampin' Up! Watercolour wings die cut big shot

This card is a slightly different size to my normal makes, it still uses half a sheet of A4 but I have folded on the short side, rather than the long side I normally use. I love this style of card, although the change in dimensions did throw me off a little.

That wonderful butterfly is stamped using Watercolour Wings, using 3-step stamping. The first layer (and most solid) is stamped in Watermelon Wonder stamped off once, then the outer edges and body are in Mint Macaron, before I added the final details in Watermelon Wonder. One quick tip though, die cut the butterfly BEFORE stamping the body! otherwise you are at risk of cutting off his (or her) head, and we don’t like beheaded creatures!

To finish I added a scattering of sequins from the Silver Sequin Trim and some loops of the Silver Metallic thread.

So Pretty

Pootlers Blog Hop-001

Hello!

Welcome to the Pootler’s blog hop! I am so excited for this hop, the lovely ladies in the team have worked so hard to create some wonderful projects (I’ve had a sneak peak, so impressed!). Please take your time around the hop, the girls would love some comments too!

Thanks

When I first saw this years catalogue this stamp set really intrigued me. The image in the catalogue is very dark, but the sample is amazing! I have to say though, I wasn’t completely convinced until I saw Sarah Berry’s lovely creations at Regional Training back in May; she created a series of wonderful cards using this set and gave us some great tips too!

Srtampin' Up! UK Watercolour Wings

Isn’t it lovely? I just love the layered nature of these stamps. The set includes two butterflies, one large and one small, over 3 stamps so you get a multi-layered image. This card I have also used one of the accent pieces to create a background and used one of the sentiment stamps. The butterfly has been die cut using the coordinating Bold Butterfly framelits dies, although the set also coordinates with the Butterflies Framelits (and Butterfly Basics!)

Stampin' Up! UK Pootles Blog Hop

I love this card! Instead of stamping the solid layer of the butterfly, I created a mask using copier paper and used my Sponge Daubers to create the butterfly. You can see this better in the video!

I created this set of three cards after making one; also using the masking technique to create the butterfly first, then adding layers. This time I only added the detailed stamp using White Craft Ink.

Which card is your favourite, I have to say I think the one I created in the video is mine, I’m just loving the Watermelon Wonder colour!

Cookie Box

Stampin' Up! UK tag a bag cookie box

I call these Cookie Boxes, although they are really called Tag a Bag Gift Boxes, but they are food safe, and coordinate with the Tag a Bag accessory kits. I use them for all sorts of things, table bins at classes, boxes for gifts, storage for pens and gift tags and loads of other things too!

Stampin' Up! UK tag a bag cookie box

I made these for a class a few months ago, and thought they are super cute, and would look awesome in our new in colours!

Measurements:

Card stock – 10 x 2 1/2″ (25.5 x 6.5 cm)

Score on the long side at 2 1/2, 4 3/4, 7 1/4, and 9 1/2″ (6.5, 12, 18.5, ans 24 cm)

The stamps here are Flower Patch, which are a great photopolymer set that coordinate with the Flower Fair framelits. These look really complicate to line up, but if you look carefully you will find that each flower has a petal that not the same as the others and allow you to line up the stamped images with the framelits

Inlay Die Cutting

Stampin' Up! UK Crazy about you Hello You diecutting

I do love a great technique, and I have been playing with this one for a few weeks (and covering myself and my desk in the process!) but the results are fabulous!

Stampin' Up! UK Inlay die cutting

I have to admit that the picture here looks better than the card does in person, I have the card in front of me and I’m looking at gluey finger prints! but it’s still a cool technique – but keep that baby wipe on hand to keep yours hands free of glue (because you WILL make a gluey mess!)

See what I mean, gluey mess! I don’t edit my videos very often, only if I’ve had an interruption like the doorbell going or my phone ringing, and so you will always get ‘live’ bloppers! I hope you enjoy them!

The original ‘Hello’ card uses our brand new 2015-2017 In-Colours in Watermelon Wonder and Mint Macaron, while the video version is in Marina Mist (I’m still a little obsessed with this colour!). I’m loving the new In-Colours; took me a while to get used to the super bright Watermelon and Cucumber though! what great additions to our colour collection.

Stampin' Up! UK Crazy about you Hello You diecutting

How to Inlay die cut:

Using the Hello You thinlits dies die cut your chosen word in coloured card stock.

Using your Magnetic platform to ensure correct die placement, die cut the same word out of your Whisper White layering piece – remember that this is your card front to carefully place the die where you want the word to be at the end!

Make sure you keep the little pieces from the die cut, keep them safe! you will need them in a moment.

Apply your glue of choice (I use Snail) to the back of your Whisper White layering piece and attach it to your card front.

Using a 2-way Glue Pen apply glue to the back of the coloured die cut, slotting it into the space on the front of your card. I did try this with Tombow glue and made a huge mess!

Using your 2-way glue pen again apply glue into the holes in the die cut, slotting the Whisper White die pieces back into the die cut.

This gives you a completely flat card, great for posting! Awesome!

Stampin' Up! UK Free Stamps

I have a heap of things to tell you about today! Yesterday was the launch of the brand new Stampin’ Up! catalogue! Yay! I am still sending catalogues out for free (provided you are in the UK) just complete this form for a copy, or there is a digital PDF download version available in the sidebar. My monthly newsletter is due to hit your inboxes today (or tomorrow depending on some external factors – like how fast YouTube is feeling today!), you can subscribe at any time by using the link found at the end of all of my blog posts.

Stampin' Up! UK Weekly dealsThis weeks deal selection is great! I always love a good embossing folder – this week we have two! You guys already know what a fan of tag topper punches I am, this ornate one is carrying over from the Spring/Summer catalogue, and is a great addition to your punch collection. The handpicked framelits dies are also a carry over item, and coordinate with two of the brand new stamp sets in the new Annual Catalogue! And who can live without some gold sequins!

Stampin' Up! UK Free Stamps

In addition to the new catalogue, yesterday we also launched a brand new Joining offer!

If you decide to join Stampin’ Up! in June, you will get to choose TWO free stamp sets in your Starter kit – that’t any two stamp sets in the annual catalogue, for FREE! Awesome right! I have waffled and waffled about the joys of being part of Stampin’ Up! I have a heap of information about joining on my Join My Team page. And I am available by email and phone if you have any questions.

I also have my own joining offer this month, and all new team members will receive and extra special goody bag! (but I’m not telling you what’s in it! stay tuned for more information on that one!)

Stampin' Up! UK Teesside Classes and Workshops Cardmaking

I have updated the Classes and Workshops page. You can now see a full list of Classes, Workshops, and events through until the end of the year. If you live locally to me and have ordered a catalogue, this timetable was also included.

I have changed my classes slightly this time, and will be holding a Techniques Class each month, with Kit classes and Stamp-a-Stack events in some months. Unfortunately there will be no classes or events in August as I get married and go on honeymoon, the blog will still be updated regularly during this time.

Check out my classes and workshops using the link at the top of the page.

I think that’s probably enough information to bombard you with today, I’m working this morning, but am looking forward to a girly lunch and shopping afternoon, followed by a gym session with James. I have recently challenged him – he thinks he can get me to run 5K by the time we get married, for all I’m the one doing the training, I’m not sure!

Have a great day, speak to you all again soon

x

Collage stamping

One of my favourite stamp sets from the current Spring/Summer catalogue is Butterfly Basics. I have created a whole heap of cards with this set, and I’m sure I have plenty more cards with this set left to create (yes, it’s in the new Annual Catalogue too! Yay!)

Stampin' Up! UK butterfly basics collage

I have really enjoyed the pieces of this stamp set, both individually and collaged together  – like the card here. Almost all the stamps from the set are stamped on this 5 x 5″ square card in Sahara Sand. The only different colour used is Early Espresso for the Happy Birthday.

The card is finished with a beautiful butterfly die cut from Early Espresso from the Butterflies Thinlits dies. I usually bend the wings of these butterflies to create some dimension, however, this time I decided to use my bone folder to create a curved wing. To create this look run the wings of the butterfly around the bone folder as if you were curling ribbon. I love the effect this gives.

There is nothing in the Caterpillar….

That tells you it is going to be a butterfly, however, there are no Caterpillars in sight here, just beautiful butterflies!

Stampin' Up! UK Butterfly Basics die cut butterflyWe are just a few short weeks away from launching our brand new set of In-Colours, I thought I would use one of the current In-Colours – just to prove that I still love them! This is Blackberry Bliss, a gorgeous rich purple (I am still totally in love with this colour). I have to say, I have already seen the next set of In-Colours, and by the time you read this I will have them in my inky fingers, and I think they are great additions to our colour line. In-Colours stick around for 2 years, so Blackberry Bliss (and Hello Honey, Lost Lagoon, Mossy Meadow, and Tangelo Twist) is still around for another 12 months! Yay!

This card uses the Butterfly Basics bundle (that’s carrying over into the new Annual catalogue by the way!). The Butterfly is die cut from BlackBerry Bliss card stock, and Vellum, while the other elements are stamped in Blackberry Bliss ink onto Very Vanilla card stock.

So pretty, and really simple to stamp to!

Flower Power….

In just under a fortnight I will be attending Stampin’ Up! regional training. Stampin’ Up! events really are something to behold, the sight of hundreds of women (and men) dancing around, waving their arms, and screaming at the tops of the lungs for free products as part of prize patrols, really is something you have to witness to understand. I LOVE attending Stampin’ Up! events, they are definitely a highlight of being a demonstrator (for a full list see HERE!).

A big part of these events is swaps, and last week I started to prepare mine. Swapping is like a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator tradition – each demonstrator makes a pile of card fronts, or 3D items, or anything really with Stampin’ Up! products, and takes them to swap with other demos. Its a great way of not only getting a massive amount of inspiration, but also meeting new friends (and getting a whole heap of chocolate!).

So, I thought I was going to use Flower Patch to make my swaps this year. I stamped and stamped and stamped, in just about every colour, with every stamp in the set – and could I find something I wanted to make 50 of? Nope….. But, I did make this card, which I do LOVE!

Stampin' Up! UK Flower Patch Swaps

I love the layered look this stamp set creates. Here I have layered Pink Pirouette and Blackberry Bliss to create some gorgeous blooms, finished off with some Lost Lagoon accent flowers. This stamp set also has an awesome coordinating die set (and they come bundled together for 15% off!), to fussy cut this lovely blooms without any of the fuss!

I adore the sentiments in this stamp set ‘You Overwhelm Me with You Awesomeness’ – I was hoping to include this in my swaps, just because I love seeing what other Demonstrators produce, I think they are all super awesome and talented – however, I have an even better swap idea – so watch this space!

Partial Die Cutting Zig Zag Card

Welcome to Technique Tuesday – the day of the week where I show you how to create a card using a new technique! This week, I’m using Partial Die Cutting to create this lovely card with Butterfly Basics!

Stampin' Up! UK partial die cutting technique video butterfly basics

This card is really simple to make. The trick comes when running your die cutting sandwich through your Big Shot. Create your die cutting sandwich as normal – Magnetic Platform, Cutting Plate, card stock, die – but position your top cutting plate carefully – aligning the edge of the plate with where you want your die cut to stop. Remember your die will only cut where there is pressure – no plate = no pressure! Check out the video to see what I mean.

Instructions:

Cut a piece of A4 card in half, and fold in half to create your card base. Then open your card base, and mark a centre line down the inside front cover. Stamp your butterflies down this line – using a Stamp-a-ma-jig to ensure correct positioning.

Create your die cutting sandwich, lining up your die with your stamped butterflies, and lining the edge of your top place up with your centre line. Run this sandwich through your Big Shot. Repeat for all three butterflies, before finishing the card by stamping the insides or adding any desired embellishments.

Heat Embossed Die Cutting

I have another technique video for you today – I was playing around a few weeks ago with heat embossing, and I am loving using my big shot at the moment – and this idea was born!

Stampin' Up! UK embossed die cutting technique video

I think I have shared a very similar card before, but this one is super special – those fabulous die cut words are shiny! I don’t think there is another stamp set I have used as much as Crazy About You, and I still adore those word thinlits too. They make such simple, versatile cards – great for mums, dads, boys, grandparents, sympathy, weddings, Easter, Christmas – Awesome – AND the die’s pop out so easily too.

Isn’t it fab! Share your creations with my in my facebook group!
