StampinByHannah Christmas Countdown | Calorie-free Advent Countdown!Christmas Countdown Video Tutorial Series StampinByHannah Stampin' Up! UK

Hello!

Every year I make an advent calendar for my husband…. I vary the chocolates every year, and he LOVES it (yes, he really is just a big kid!). Two years ago I made a larger one that could hold two chocolates … but this year I am trying to be more careful about my chocolate intake. So, while I have made one for James (that’s coming to a YouTube channel near you NEXT friday!) I still wanted something for myself!

I spend FAR too long on social media (don’t we all!) and spotted a similar project a few weeks ago… But I cannot for the life of my remember where I saw it, or who it was! However, here is my Calorie Free Advent Calender….

Christmas Countdown Calorie Free Advent Calendar Video Tutorial using Merry Little Christmas from Stampin' Up

I am loving this Basic Black and Old Olive colour combination for Christmas this year…. I made a card using the same combination earlier in the week (you can find it HERE!)

My other favourite product in this project is the awesome Everyday Label Punch, as well as coordinating with TWO stamp sets in the Autumn/Winter catalogue…. it makes the perfect layer on your cards and projects… especially when punched out of Vellum (Yum!)

Measurements:

For the numbers….

Basic Black card stock – 3 x 3″ (7.5 x 7.5 cm)

Whisper White layer – 2 3/4 x 2 3/4″ (7 x 7 cm)

For the Frame….

The frame is THIS one from Ikea….. LOVE Ikea, don’t you!

Merry Little Christmas Designer Series Paper – 22 x 22 cm

Whisper White Layer – 20 x 20 cm

Christmas Countdown Calorie Free Advent Calendar Video Tutorial using Merry Little Christmas from Stampin' Up!

My favourite part of this project is the leaf wreath. Punched out using the Leaf Punch, a whole heap of leaves in Basic Black and Old Olive…. adhered to the backing with Hot Glue. By using my Glue Gun I was able to give the wreath some extra dimension, as not all the leaves lay flat.

What is your Christmas Crafting tradition?

Christmas Countdown | Hot Chocolate Stirrers!

Christmas Countdown Hot Chocolate and Snowflake Sentiments from Stampin' Up!

Christmas Countdown Video Tutorial Series StampinByHannah Stampin' Up! UK

Hello! Welcome to this week’s Christmas Countdown…. there are 72 days left before the fat man arrives… and no I have not started my Christmas shopping yet! or really even thinking about it.

I have however started to think about my favourite things to do in the winter. We have a strong evening routine in our house of hot chocolate before bed… it started with that need for something sweet after dinner, but with lower calories…. and well, as you can see that hasn’t worked all that well!

Christmas Countdown Hot Chocolate and Snowflake Sentiments from Stampin' Up!

My husband is a particular type of hot chocolate drinker… I think he would call it purest, its Cadbury’s or nothing! I personally, like the ones with different flavours… except white chocolate… that just not right!

So, these are right up his street…. nothing but chocolate-y goodness!

https://youtu.be/zj0aCPsn39Y

The bags are a Stampin’ Up! secret! I am sure that these are one of the most hidden items that Stampin’ Up! do… and yet they are in the catalogue, right there with all the fun papers and envelopes! Cellobags!

They even do various different sizes and types! These ones are the 3 x 6″ gusseted variety. I use the 6 x 8″ ones when I’m packing your class kits and prepping for my videos …. they are just one of those things that are super handy to have in your crafty stash!

Christmas Countdown How to make real Hot Chocolate and package using Stampin' Up! Supplies

The cute little labels are made using the Snowflake Sentiments bundle. This bundle comes with a super cute little label die… although I do think it is a little small for a gift, its the perfect size for price labels on your craft fair table, or packaging for your handmade soaps or chocolates… or like here for your instructions for your real Hot Chocolate!

Christmas Countdown how to make real hot chocolate!

These are super simply to make….in fact there is only one ingredient!

  1.  Get your kids or grandkids to eat 6 fromage frais type yogurts, and clean the pots
  2. Wipe the inside with vegetable oil using a pastry brush
  3. Melt a 150g bar of chocolate …. milk or dark is best! I find that the easiest way is to put just over half of the chocolate in a bowl and microwave it for 30 seconds at a time, giving it a good stir between blasts. Then, once the chocolate is melted, add the remaining chocolate and stir well.
  4. Pour the melted chocolate into the empty yogurt pots, ensuring that each pot has a similar amount.
  5. Add a wooden lollipop stick to the centre of each chocolate pot. Give the chocolate a moment to start to cool, and they should stand up on their own.
  6. Decorate with chocolate drops, edible glitters, mini marshmallows or sugar pearls
  7. Pop the chocolate pots into the fridge to set for a few hours (I would suggest overnight). Once they are fully set, the chocolate stirrers should pull out of the pots easily.

To enjoy your hot chocolate….

  • Fill your favourite mug 3/4 full with milk, and heat in the microwave until hot. Dunk your Hot Chocolate Stirrer into the hot milk and stir until the chocolate is fully melted.
  • Drink and enjoy!

Make It Monday | Square Framelits Box with Lid

Make It Monday Video Tutorial Large Lidded Box using Birthday Blooms from Stampin' Up!

Make It Monday

I’ve had to have a bit of a shuffle around this week… as you may know I always (try) to work a few weeks ahead with my blog projects (gives me time for my life to fall apart around me and still get things made for you!) and so when I filled my planner with my projects and ideas for October I had planned to share my September Customer Thank You Cards with you today…. except that Stampin’ Up! released an AMAZING! offer last week which has sent the warehouse into a bit of a spin! This means that my Code Club gifts are stuck somewhere between Stockton on Tees and Germany…. and so I can’t share the cards I haven’t yet been able to send! So…. they will hopefully be filling this slot next week, and in the meantime I have a fabulous Video Tutorial for you…

Make It Monday Video Tutorial Large Lidded Box using Birthday Blooms from Stampin' Up!

I made this box a few weeks ago for a team training event…. which I am sure that you are all well and truly sick of me waffling on about now! but I wanted a fun 3D project for my display, and this was it!

The whole box is designed around the Layering Square Framelits and coordinating Stitched Shapes framelits. And while the original features the Birthday Blooms stamp set, with a hint of Touches of Texture in Island Indigo and Crumb Cake…. The video’d version is in Berry Burst and Smoky Slate

Measurements:

Box Base – 11 1/2 x 5 1/2″

Score on the long edge at 2 3/4, 5 1/2, 8 1/4 and 11″

Score on the short side at 2 3/4″

Box Lid – 3 13/16 x 3 13/16″ (sorry that this is such an odd measurement, but it makes sure that the lid fits snuggly!)

Score on all 4 sides at 1/2″

Make It Monday Large Box with Lid using Snowflake Sentiments from Stampin' Up!

While the original box uses the Fine Tip Glue Masking Technique the version in the tutorial video uses more traditional Embossed resist to create a pretty effect.

The snowflake stamp is taken from the Snowflake Sentiments…. I am loving this stamp and die bundle at the moment! Check out my Online Card Classes page tomorrow for a fun card class featuring this stamp set. Here it was heat embossed in clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder before I added Berry Burst ink with a sponge over the top. The clear embossing powder resists the ink and leaves a white snowflake showing through the bold pink!

Don’t forget that the Stampin’ Up! World Card Making Day Offers End TOMORROW! Grab a heap of great stamp sets for 15% off…..

Make It Monday | Oh So Eclectic Layered Tag

Make It Monday Fun watercoloured tags using Oh So Eclectic from Stampin' Up!

Make It Monday

Ok, so I have a confession to make…. I was supposed to film a video for Saturday about how to use the Embossing dies that come in the die set I’ve used today… but the end of last week was a bit of a disaster and I didn’t get to it… So, I will leave my top tips for using Embossing dies down at the bottom of this post instead. And I have managed to film 4 How To… videos for Saturday for the next 4 weeks already… I don’t really know how I missed this week! Oh Well…. on with today’s project!

Make It Monday Fun watercoloured tags using Oh So Eclectic from Stampin' Up!

These sweet tags have been made with the Oh So Eclectic bundle from Stampin’ Up! You can find all the directions in the video below… but here are my top tips for using Embossing Dies.

There are 3 dies in the Eclectic Layers thinlits dies that don’t cut (and a couple more in the Build a Bike set too!). These dies are designed to be used the same as a cutting die, but rather than cut they leave an impression of the image instead.

  • Use your standard cutting sandwich in your Big Shot… Magnetic Platform and two standard cutting plates
  • Use a thicker card stock for a better impression… I like using Watercolour paper, Thick Whisper White or Thick Very Vanilla
  • Add Colour with a sponge or brayer after to enhance the embossing

https://youtu.be/oI116Ukmse8

The tags were created with a 2″ wide strip of Watercolour paper… main as this is the width of the Tag Topper Punch! With the embossing dies, a hint of watercolour and some die cuts this project was done in a flash… what is your favourite quick make? Share it with me over on my Facebook Page I would LOVE to see….

Before I go… I just wanted to remind you about my current Card Class… we are using the gorgeous Oh So Eclectic stamp set and die bundle, along with the Layered Leaves embossing folder and a heap of other goodies to make 10 totally individual cards…. you can find out more HERE!

Christmas Countdown | Twist and Close Candle Box using Stampin! Up! supplies

Christmas Countdown Pootles Papercraft inspired twist and close box for candle in a jar using Stampin' Up! products

Christmas Countdown Video Tutorial Series StampinByHannah Stampin' Up! UK

Hello! Welcome to my second Christmas Countdown project of 2017! Now…. the plan is for most of these Festive projects to include some sort of food item… however, I haven’t managed to get into the kitchen this week, so its a candle box instead…. But I hope that you love it anyway!

I have made a similar project before, you can find the video for my 5 sided Twist ‘n’ Close box here

Christmas Countdown Pootles Papercraft inspired twist and close box for candle in a jar using Stampin' Up! products

This Twist ‘n’ Close box is really simple to put together… although it is a little extravagant using a whole sheet of A4 card stock per box, however its such a fun project that I do think it is worth it!

I would offer two pieces of advice before I give you the measurements; 1. ALWAYS test my makes using spare card stock (IE: don’t use your best card for your first go!) and 2. the metric measurements are a bit awkward… this one might be one of those where you go old school with the inches!

Measurements:

Card stock – Cherry Cobbler – 11 x 7 1/4″ (28 x 18.5 cm)

Score on the long side at –  1 3/4, 3 1/2. 5 1/4, 7, 8 3/4, and 10 1/2″ ( 4.5, 9, 13.5, 18, 22.5 and 27 cm)

then, you need to mark the same side at – 7/8, 2 5/8, 4 3/8, 6 1/8, 7 7/8 and 9 5/8″ (2.25, 6.75, 11.25, 15.75, 20.25, 24.75 cm)

Score on the short side at – 2 and 5 1/4″ (5 and 14 cm)

Use a metal ruler to draw a further score line between the mark you created and the point where the horizontal and vertical score lines meet, making triangles… do this for each mark, and make sure that you only make one triangle per mark.

Designer Series Paper – Merry Little Christmas – 6 pieces cut at 3 x 1 1/2″ (4 x 8.5 cm)

Pootles Papercraft inspired twist and close box for candle in a jar using Stampin' Up! products

I would LOVE to see your versions of this box too… share them with me over on my Facebook page, or by tagging me @stampinbyhannah on social media!

Make It Monday | Magnetic Closure Notebooks

Make It Monday Notebook covers using Eastern Palace suite from Stampin' Up!

Make It Monday

Welcome to Make It Monday! I am loving this weeks project, I made these a few weeks ago and they have sat, looking all pretty on my desk every since…. saying that I really want to send them to someone… but I’ll get to that later!

Make It Monday Notebook covers using Eastern Palace suite from Stampin' Up!

Notebooks are always a handy gift. These are marked for Team Member gifts…. I always send a little something to new team members to welcome them to the team, and a notebook is great…. I mean, your massive wish list needs somewhere to go, right?!

The purple notebook (sorry, Fresh Fig!) uses the Eastern Palace stamp set and coordinating Eastern Beauty Designer Series Paper. The trick to these notebook covers is the magnets… yes they have a magnetic snap closure. I am sure that these covers would be just as cute without the magnets, but I took delivery of a heap of magnets last week and just HAD to use them on a project! I get my magnets from Ebay…. just search for Neodymium Disc magnets, and I am sure you will find them!

Measurements:

These notebook covers are for Jotter sized notebooks, and are in metric measurements only.

Card stock: 21 x 18.5 cm

Score on the SHORT side at 7, 7.5, 14.5 and 15 cm

Designer Series Paper: 20.5 x 6.5 cm AND 20.5 x 3 cm

Make It Monday Video Tutorial Magnetic Notebook covers using Oh So Eclectic from Stampin' Up!

August is a great time to think about joining the team. We are in the middle of pre-order month for the new Autumn Winter catalogue, which means that you could fill your Starter Kit with Christmas goodies and get your hands on some awesome stamp sets before anyone else! I did a whole video on why I think August is a great time to join on Saturday… I would LOVE you to check it out.

Make It Monday | Hogs and Kisses Note Card Set using This Little Piggy

Make It Monday

Do you ever have those stamp sets where you absolutely HAVE to make something with them the second they arrive in your craft room?! Well, this is one of those projects from one of those stamps! This Little Piggy is just the cutest stamp set…. I mean, who doesn’t love pigs!

When we first saw this stamp set back in April at On Stage Live the room went nuts… partly because the stamps are just adorable, but partly (I’m sure) because the lady demonstrating had put them in tutu’s!!!! yes… I am damn sure I will be making a piggy tutu card really soon! but for now…. here is my Hogs and Kisses Note card set

The note card holder holds 3 note cards and their envelopes…. but there is room for a couple more! Particularly as you get 4 card bases from a single sheet of A4 card stock.

Note cards measure – 14.8 x 10.5 cm, scored on the long side at 7.4.

Matt – 6.9 x 10 cm

Stamped layer – 6.4 x 9.5 cm

Note card box measurements (because this project uses the Envelope Punch Board I only use Imperial Measurements)

Card stock – 8 x 8″

Punch and score at 3 5/8 and 5″

Belly Band

Card stock – 1 3/4 x 11″ (4.5 x 27 cm)

Designer Series Paper – 1 1/2 x 11″ (4 x 27 cm)

The Envelope Punch Board is one of my all times favourite tools… its great not only for custom sized envelopes for those special cards, but also boxes and other packaging.

Envelopes for the note cards use Designer Series Paper measuring 6 1/4 x 6 1/4″ (punch and score at 2 3/4″)

What is your favourite Card Making tool?
