Christmas Countdown Video Tutorial Series StampinByHannah Stampin' Up! UK

How many of us send little gifts to colleagues, teachers, the milkman, and other people that impact our lives over Christmas? What do you usually give? A cute little something? Coffee? Chocolate? Well… today’s video is for you! Today I have some chocolate bar wraps…. taking some boring chocolate to a really cute gift!

Christmas Countdown Video Tutorial Chocolate bar wrappers using Christmas Pines and Merry Little Labels from Stampin' Up!

Both of these wrappers use the same piece of Designer Series Paper from Merry Little Christmas. Designer Series Paper has two sides…. you can use both! Actually the wraps are both different too… the black one is simply wrapped around the chocolate bar, while the Old Olive striped version has been creased to fit around the chocolate perfectly. I love both!

Measurement:

Designer Series Paper; 6 x 9 1/2″ ( 15 x 24 cm)

The fronts have been dressed up using a couple of circles die cut from using the Stitched Shapes Framelits (I seriously CANNOT put these away!), a few pine leaves cut using the Pretty Pine Thinlits, and some stamping using Merry Little Labels!

Quick and Easy!

Christmas Countdown | Calorie-free Advent Countdown!

Christmas Countdown Calorie Free Advent Calendar Video Tutorial using Merry Little Christmas from Stampin' Up

StampinByHannah Christmas Countdown | Calorie-free Advent Countdown!Christmas Countdown Video Tutorial Series StampinByHannah Stampin' Up! UK

Hello!

Every year I make an advent calendar for my husband…. I vary the chocolates every year, and he LOVES it (yes, he really is just a big kid!). Two years ago I made a larger one that could hold two chocolates … but this year I am trying to be more careful about my chocolate intake. So, while I have made one for James (that’s coming to a YouTube channel near you NEXT friday!) I still wanted something for myself!

I spend FAR too long on social media (don’t we all!) and spotted a similar project a few weeks ago… But I cannot for the life of my remember where I saw it, or who it was! However, here is my Calorie Free Advent Calender….

Christmas Countdown Calorie Free Advent Calendar Video Tutorial using Merry Little Christmas from Stampin' Up

I am loving this Basic Black and Old Olive colour combination for Christmas this year…. I made a card using the same combination earlier in the week (you can find it HERE!)

My other favourite product in this project is the awesome Everyday Label Punch, as well as coordinating with TWO stamp sets in the Autumn/Winter catalogue…. it makes the perfect layer on your cards and projects… especially when punched out of Vellum (Yum!)

Measurements:

For the numbers….

Basic Black card stock – 3 x 3″ (7.5 x 7.5 cm)

Whisper White layer – 2 3/4 x 2 3/4″ (7 x 7 cm)

For the Frame….

The frame is THIS one from Ikea….. LOVE Ikea, don’t you!

Merry Little Christmas Designer Series Paper – 22 x 22 cm

Whisper White Layer – 20 x 20 cm

Christmas Countdown Calorie Free Advent Calendar Video Tutorial using Merry Little Christmas from Stampin' Up!

My favourite part of this project is the leaf wreath. Punched out using the Leaf Punch, a whole heap of leaves in Basic Black and Old Olive…. adhered to the backing with Hot Glue. By using my Glue Gun I was able to give the wreath some extra dimension, as not all the leaves lay flat.

What is your Christmas Crafting tradition?

Inspire.Create.Challenges #003 | ‘Tis The Season

Fun Christmas Card for Inspire.Create.Challenges using Christmas Pines from Stampin' Up!

Hello! Oh, I am so excited for today’s blog post…. The Inspire.Create.Challenge Design Team have a heap of fun Festive inspiration for you today so do click over and see everyone else’s projects too!

I am loving being a part of the Inspire.Create.Challenges Team, and I would LOVE to see you join in with our challenges too.

This fortnight’s challenge is to create a Festive project! Now… when I sent this challenge out to the ladies I had many emails back going ‘Festive… is that Christmas?!’…. well, no. Festive could be anything, a celebration… you could make an Easter project if that really floats your boat!

I have gone for Festive = Christmas… but only because that it what I am working on in my Craftroom at the moment and I have Christmas stamps everywhere! However… I have pulled one of the Christmas stamp sets from the Annual catalogue rather than this years Autumn/Winter (which is awesome by the way!)

Fun Christmas Card for Inspire.Create.Challenges using Christmas Pines from Stampin' Up!

This stamp set was my absolute favourite from last years Autumn/Winter catalogue and I was SO excited to see it carry forward into the Annual this past year. Christmas Pines has a fun collection of pinecones, leaves, and GORGEOUS sentiments… . I am such a sucker for  pretty font and this set is full of pretty fonts!

I have written a full tutorial that you can print… that you can find HERE!

Fun Christmas Card for Inspire.Create.Challenges using Christmas Pines from Stampin' Up!
Isn’t that cluster so pretty?! I stamped the Pine Leaves stamp 3 times in Old Olive, without re-inking inbetween to create a dimensional look. Then I used the Pretty Pines Thinlits to die cut 3 different sized leaves from Old Olive card stock and added them over the top of the stamping with Glue Dots.
Those Pine Cones are also in the Christmas Pines stamp set and have been embossed in Gold before being die cut with the coordinating Pretty Pines dies. The cluster is then finished with that gorgeous bow in Real Red card stock….. finally, I bow I can make look pretty!
I would LOVE to see your festive creations this week… check the Inspire.Create.Challenges blog to enter.

Christmas Countdown | Hot Chocolate Stirrers!

Christmas Countdown Hot Chocolate and Snowflake Sentiments from Stampin' Up!

Christmas Countdown Video Tutorial Series StampinByHannah Stampin' Up! UK

Hello! Welcome to this week’s Christmas Countdown…. there are 72 days left before the fat man arrives… and no I have not started my Christmas shopping yet! or really even thinking about it.

I have however started to think about my favourite things to do in the winter. We have a strong evening routine in our house of hot chocolate before bed… it started with that need for something sweet after dinner, but with lower calories…. and well, as you can see that hasn’t worked all that well!

Christmas Countdown Hot Chocolate and Snowflake Sentiments from Stampin' Up!

My husband is a particular type of hot chocolate drinker… I think he would call it purest, its Cadbury’s or nothing! I personally, like the ones with different flavours… except white chocolate… that just not right!

So, these are right up his street…. nothing but chocolate-y goodness!

https://youtu.be/zj0aCPsn39Y

The bags are a Stampin’ Up! secret! I am sure that these are one of the most hidden items that Stampin’ Up! do… and yet they are in the catalogue, right there with all the fun papers and envelopes! Cellobags!

They even do various different sizes and types! These ones are the 3 x 6″ gusseted variety. I use the 6 x 8″ ones when I’m packing your class kits and prepping for my videos …. they are just one of those things that are super handy to have in your crafty stash!

Christmas Countdown How to make real Hot Chocolate and package using Stampin' Up! Supplies

The cute little labels are made using the Snowflake Sentiments bundle. This bundle comes with a super cute little label die… although I do think it is a little small for a gift, its the perfect size for price labels on your craft fair table, or packaging for your handmade soaps or chocolates… or like here for your instructions for your real Hot Chocolate!

Christmas Countdown how to make real hot chocolate!

These are super simply to make….in fact there is only one ingredient!

  1.  Get your kids or grandkids to eat 6 fromage frais type yogurts, and clean the pots
  2. Wipe the inside with vegetable oil using a pastry brush
  3. Melt a 150g bar of chocolate …. milk or dark is best! I find that the easiest way is to put just over half of the chocolate in a bowl and microwave it for 30 seconds at a time, giving it a good stir between blasts. Then, once the chocolate is melted, add the remaining chocolate and stir well.
  4. Pour the melted chocolate into the empty yogurt pots, ensuring that each pot has a similar amount.
  5. Add a wooden lollipop stick to the centre of each chocolate pot. Give the chocolate a moment to start to cool, and they should stand up on their own.
  6. Decorate with chocolate drops, edible glitters, mini marshmallows or sugar pearls
  7. Pop the chocolate pots into the fridge to set for a few hours (I would suggest overnight). Once they are fully set, the chocolate stirrers should pull out of the pots easily.

To enjoy your hot chocolate….

  • Fill your favourite mug 3/4 full with milk, and heat in the microwave until hot. Dunk your Hot Chocolate Stirrer into the hot milk and stir until the chocolate is fully melted.
  • Drink and enjoy!

Christmas Countdown | Twist and Close Candle Box using Stampin! Up! supplies

Christmas Countdown Pootles Papercraft inspired twist and close box for candle in a jar using Stampin' Up! products

Christmas Countdown Video Tutorial Series StampinByHannah Stampin' Up! UK

Hello! Welcome to my second Christmas Countdown project of 2017! Now…. the plan is for most of these Festive projects to include some sort of food item… however, I haven’t managed to get into the kitchen this week, so its a candle box instead…. But I hope that you love it anyway!

I have made a similar project before, you can find the video for my 5 sided Twist ‘n’ Close box here

Christmas Countdown Pootles Papercraft inspired twist and close box for candle in a jar using Stampin' Up! products

This Twist ‘n’ Close box is really simple to put together… although it is a little extravagant using a whole sheet of A4 card stock per box, however its such a fun project that I do think it is worth it!

I would offer two pieces of advice before I give you the measurements; 1. ALWAYS test my makes using spare card stock (IE: don’t use your best card for your first go!) and 2. the metric measurements are a bit awkward… this one might be one of those where you go old school with the inches!

Measurements:

Card stock – Cherry Cobbler – 11 x 7 1/4″ (28 x 18.5 cm)

Score on the long side at –  1 3/4, 3 1/2. 5 1/4, 7, 8 3/4, and 10 1/2″ ( 4.5, 9, 13.5, 18, 22.5 and 27 cm)

then, you need to mark the same side at – 7/8, 2 5/8, 4 3/8, 6 1/8, 7 7/8 and 9 5/8″ (2.25, 6.75, 11.25, 15.75, 20.25, 24.75 cm)

Score on the short side at – 2 and 5 1/4″ (5 and 14 cm)

Use a metal ruler to draw a further score line between the mark you created and the point where the horizontal and vertical score lines meet, making triangles… do this for each mark, and make sure that you only make one triangle per mark.

Designer Series Paper – Merry Little Christmas – 6 pieces cut at 3 x 1 1/2″ (4 x 8.5 cm)

Pootles Papercraft inspired twist and close box for candle in a jar using Stampin' Up! products

I would LOVE to see your versions of this box too… share them with me over on my Facebook page, or by tagging me @stampinbyhannah on social media!

Christmas Countdown | Chocolate Truffle Boxes with Year of Cheer from Stampin’ Up!

Chocolate Truffle box using Year of Cheer from Stampin' Up!

Christmas Countdown Video Tutorial Series StampinByHannah Stampin' Up! UKOh my goodness, we are already nearing the end of September which means that it must be time to start my fabulous Christmas Countdown series for 2017! Now, I did do something similar to this last year, but this year I have a bit of a twist…. in that most of the projects in this series involve food (although there are a few exceptions!). As a total foodie and a bit of a secret baker, I thought this would be the perfect way to combine two of my passions!

Chocolate Truffle box using Year of Cheer from Stampin' Up!

Shall we look at the papercraft first? This fabulously sized box would be great for a host of things…. but I have chosen to put Chocolate, Rum and Coffee Truffles in mine (more on those in a minute!). This box is 4 x 4″ square and 1 1/2″ deep (or 10 x 10 x 4 cm if your a metric person!) and uses the GORGEOUS Year of Cheer Designer Series Paper. Seriously, this paper is beautiful! It features one of this seasons hot treads…. mixed metals, combining Gold, Silver, Copper and the brand new Champagne foil sheets.

Measurements:

Base – Crumb Cake Card Stock – 7 x 7″ (18 x 18 cm)

Score on each side at 1 1/2″ (4 cm)

Lid – Year of Cheer Designer Series Paper – 6 1/16 x 6 1/16″ (15.2 x 15.2 cm)

Score on each side at 1″ (2.5 cm)

Chocolate Truffle box using Year of Cheer from Stampin' Up!

These fabulous boxes also use the super pretty Foil Snowflakes (loving these… they are finding their way onto a LOT of projects at the moment!), and the Merry Little Labels bundle. Check the bottom of this blog post for a full list of products used, but first….. some chocolate!

How to make Chocolate truffles

These wonderfully rich creations are super quick and easy to make… although they do need some chilling time… and would be a great gift!

The original recipe for these came from HERE, although my version is a little different

Ingredients:

  • 250g Milk Chocolate
  • 75ml Double Cream
  • 2 tbsp Dark Rum
  • 1 tbsp instant coffee granules
  • 200g milk / white chocolate for the coating

Method:

  1. Line a flat bottomed tin with greaseproof paper (I use a plastic sandwich box) and break the chocolate into small pieces
  2. Heat the cream, rum and coffee granules in a small saucepan over a low heat, stirring until the coffee has dissolved and the cream is beginning to bubble around the edges
  3. Remove from the heat and add the chocolate, stir until the chocolate has melted, and you have a smooth mixture.
  4. Pour this into your tin / box / container and allow them to cool and chill for a few hours until fully set.
  5. Cover a tray with greaseproof paper. Remove the mixture from the tin and cut into 24 pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and place on the tray. Pop them back into the fridge.
  6. Melt two thirds of the remaining chocolate over a pan. Remove from the heat and add the rest of the chocolate and stir until it has all melted.
  7. Dip each truffle ball into the melted chocolate one at a time, ensuring each is completely covered before placing it back into the tray. This part is quite messy!
  8. Once each truffle is coated you can add final decoration… I prefer to flick melted white chocolate across mine, but you could coat in cocoa powder

My husband LOVES these…. they don’t usually get as far as being packaging into such a pretty box though!

DIY Designer Series Paper with Good Tidings

Creating your own Designer Series Paper using Good Tidings from Stampin' Up!

I love finding different ways to use my stamps…. and one of the techniques I don’t do nearly enough is creating my own Designer Series Paper using stamps! I love doing this kind of repetitive stamping, creating something unique each time, and a truly hand made creation!
Handmade Christmas card with DIY Designer Series Paper with Good Tidings from Stampin' Up!

This card features the Good Tidings stamp set (I am totally in LOVE with this one!). This awesome stamp set creates two sizes of holly sprigs with some 2-step stamping. Did you see THIS card I made with this stamp set last week. I am also using a different colour combination from the traditional Christmas…. although I wasn’t sure that it was going to work when I first started stamping! The leaves are in Old Olive and Tranquil Tide, and the berries are Rich Razzleberry and Fresh Fig.

Creating your own Designer Series Paper using Good Tidings from Stampin' Up!

This rich colour combo is set against Early Espresso for a classic styled Christmas Card. The sentiment is also taken from Good Tidings, and is stamped in Tranquil Tidy, die cut with the Layered Circles framelits and layered with a scalloped circle of Early Espresso.

Thanks so much for check out my blog today. Check out my store to buy everything you need to make this pretty Christmas Card, and sign up to my email newsletter using the link in the sidebar!
