Make It Monday | Layering Stamps

Stampin' Up! UK Stamp Layering Birthday Card

Make It Monday with Stampin' Up!

Hello! Welcome to another edition of Make It Monday! I was hoping to have another video for you this week but alas I completely ran out of time. Thinking of making a 3D project for next week though, so I will certainly film that.

This past few weeks have been hella stressful (nothing new there then!) with my hectic new job, unwell relatives, James starting back at university, and the end of Sale-a-bration I haven’t had a whole heap of time to craft. So I was overjoyed when James said he was working on Saturday morning – time to get my backside back in that craft room! You will see what I made in my Saturday morning craft session later on in the week, I had heaps of ideas for cards that I have been sat on for weeks, but trying to come up with an idea for Make It Monday was a struggle. I did however have a glamorous assistant!

Freda

I did what I always do when I’m struggling for inspiration – I grabbed a random stamp set off the shelf and pull out a pile of inks. I knew I wanted to use Watercolour Paper, but that was about as fair as I got in planning! Stampin' Up! UK Awesomely Artistic Stamp Layering

So, this was my jumping off point. As I have discussed on the blog before I love getting really inky, and adding heaps of ink and water to this piece of Watercolour paper seemed like a good idea, at the end of the day most of my crafting is a bit of an experiment anyway!

I set about creating a background on my piece of Watercolour paper, adding a boarder of that gorgeous foliage stamp from Awesomely Artistic in Mint Macaron, Bermuda Bay and Lost lagoon, adding several spritzs’ of water after each stamping and using my Heat Tool to dry everything off. Once the boarder was stamped I grabbed for my Aquapainter and hit the centre of the Watercolour Paper with more ink and water, and finally splattering ink all over the place!
Stampin' Up! UK Make it monday Stamp Layering

Stamp Layering is a super quick and easy technique, we have stamp sets designed just for this technique (ones with lots of smaller images are great, as are floral and foliage type stamps). So once I had my background dry I then added another layer of stamping in Lost Lagoon and Bermuda Bay using the fern stamps and that fabulous little splatter stamp!

At this point I have to admit, I had no idea what the hell this card was going to be used for! But Birthday seemed like a good idea, I am loving the Number of Years stamp set at the moment with those great number dies. These stamps are designed to look watercoloured, but if you add the ink to them with a Sponge Dauber (rather than the normal method of sticking the stamp in the inkpad) you can add multiple colours of ink and create a great blended effect. These numbers are inked in Mint Macaron and Bermuda Bay and spritzed with water before stamping.

It still needed a little something, a little something sparkly – Wink Of Stella in Gold! Lovely

Ok, So, time for a challenge –  I would love to see what you create with either the technique or these colours! Leave a link in the comments below and I will select one winner to receive this card and a Gold Wink of Stella Brush!

Entries will close at 06:30AM BST on 11th April 2016 (Thanks when the next Make It Monday will go live!) and I will select a winner and contact them in due course

Good Luck!

Make it Monday | Reactive Watercolour

Make It Monday with Stampin' Up!

Hello! Welcome to another week of Make it Monday! I hope you are enjoying this series of posts as much as I am. Last week I made a card an photographed each stage, but this week I thought I would make a video. I haven’t made any video tutorials for a while so I am a little rusty, so please forgive any mistakes or issues. I had so much fun making this card, using some of those great Sale-a-bration products for the last time!

Make it Monday Reactive Watercolour with Stampin' Up! f

Sale-a-bration ends on March 31st (that’s Thursday!), but until then you get to choose from 11 gifts when you spend £45 (and you get to pick extras each time you hit that £45, so you get 2 free things if you order comes to £90!) or you could get the best deal ever and join my team of Stampin’ Friends for just £99 and choose £160 worth of great Stampin’ goodies! Awesome!

Reactive Watercolour is a great technique, and its super simple too! Just stamp your image in Stampin’ Up! ink and spritz with a little water – then sit back and watch the ink move and bleed. The more water you add the more the ink moves.

On this card, once the ink had dried I over stamped the images again as I may have gone a little over board with the water the first time around!

Finished with a stripe of the Metallic Glitter Tape in Silver and this card is done!

I hope you enjoyed this weeks Make It Monday, and I’ll see you here again next week for another great project! Don’t forget to place those last Sale-a-bration orders soon, or your favourite items may already have sold out!

One Layer Birthday

Stampin' Up! UK One Layer Birthday Card

My crafty mojo is still missing, and so I’m still sharing the stack of cards that have been abandoned on my desk. Stampin' Up! UK One Layer Birthday Card

This card was made purely to test out a colour combination. I do this quite often, make a quick card or panel in a couple of colours to see how well it works. I love the simplicity of this card, one layer is something I just don’t do, but I might have do start doing more often.

The stamps are from Perpetual Birthday Calender and Rose Wonder, the colours are Mint Macaron, Watermelon Wonder and Blushing Bride

Stampin' Up! UK One layer Birthday card perpetual birthday

However, once I had ‘finished’ it was a  little too simple, and so I added a splatter or Wink of Stella in Gold, and a trio of Crystal Effects spots.

Happiest of Birthday to you….

Stampin' Up! UK Birthday Blooms Card Class Watercolour

Over the next couple of weeks I will be sharing some of the cards I designed for my March Card Class. Registration is now open for my April Card Class – just drop me an email for more info!

Stampin' Up! UK Birthday Blooms Card Class Watercolour

I loved making this card. You all know how many times I have watercoloured this flower from Birthday Blooms, but this was the first time I coloured it in blue, so soft and pretty. I took inspiration for this colour palette directly from the Designer Series Paper, where the flowers are Pool Party and Mint Macaron. I’m a sucker for colour, one of the many reasons I love Stampin’ Up!®. All the colours are gorgeous and work so well together, even when you might look at them and think ‘hmmm, maybe not’. So, here I’ve used Mint Macaron and Pool Party for the flower, Mint Macaron and Mossy Meadow the the leaves (it doesn’t look so odd in person!), with So Saffron for the centres and Blushing Bride for the halo around the image. I did colour some of the leaves with a light shade of Tip Top Taupe but its hard to see it in this photo

Stampin' Up! UK Birthday Blooms Card Class

The card is finished with a strip of the Desigher Series Paper, a bow of Pool Party Glitter ribbon and one of the cute bow paper clips!

Just a Picture Perfect Note

Stampin' Up! UK Picture Perfect Just a note card

Not all cards we send are for happy events, birthdays or congratulations. A handmade card can say more than words when sent for a different event; sympathy or just a simple Thinking of You. This past week we got some slightly scary news about my grandfather, who at 94 has already battled cancer once and is now having to undergo tests to see if its come back. My grandfather lives 300 miles from me, but has been a massive part of my life, I spent many many days and weeks at his house when I was very small. I really need to get my backside in the car to go and see him, but trying to get a few days off with James to go is tricky. So, I’m made him a card…. now I just need to work out what I’m going to write in it!

Stampin' Up! UK Picture Perfect Just a note card

I’ve been trying to find a card for this bird for a while. Its a stunning image, but it’s so pretty and detailed I needed to find a card that could really let it sing. All the images in Picture Perfect are designed to be stamped in several different layers, and I’ve used 4 different inks on this bird; Mint Macaron, Watermelon Wonder, Lost Lagoon and Island Indigo. I will admit that the layers aren’t stamped perfectly, but I really don’t think it matters, it’s still gorgeous!

I’m still trying to work my way through my mountain of Designer Series Paper, and I managed to get a goodly sized piece on this card. The Matt behind the layer of Very Vanilla card stock is a piece of Designer Series Paper from Farmers Market, just that fabulous pop of yellow really sets off the simplicity of the card.

Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge – A Rose Wonder Thank You

Stampin' Up! Sketch Challenge Rose Wonder

Stampin' Up! Sketch Challenge

Welcome to another Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge Blog Hop, I’m so glad you joined us today.

This week it was my turn to design the sketch! I have been so looking forward to this bit, I love seeing how creative people can be so I set the girls a tough one this week –  a totally black sketch! I know, it was mean, but did they create some great projects (if you haven’t seen anyone elses creations yet, please use the buttons at the bottom of this post to see what everyone has created this week)

Stampin' Up! Sketch Challenge Rose Wonder

Saying that I designed this sketch, you would have thought I would have made my card straight away, and had some marvellous idea! I wish, no this week has been crazy, working 6 days, brand new job, very stressed, and so trying to make a card for today has been a bit of a nightmare to be honest. On Thursday I still hadn’t made anything and so started a quest through Pinterest for some inspiration – nothing, my crafty mojo had up’d and left! Great! But then, I woke on Friday with a card fully formed in my brain, wonderful, mojo returned! and so this was my creation!

Stampin' Up! Rose Wonder Thank you card

I die cut a circle from a piece of copy paper and used it as a mask to ink blend. The colours in the circle are Pear Pizzazz, Rose Red and Pool Party – all added with Stampin’ Sponges, and a very light touch. I stamped the flower before lifting the mask, and added some die cut leaves in Vellum and Whisper White card stock. I adhered these with a glue dots, which you could still see after adding the leaves, so the die cut flower was added to cover my mess!

Please hop on and see what the girls have made this week

Awesomely Artistic Birthday

Stampin' Up! UK Awesomely Artistic Birthday

Ok, so as I type up this weeks blog post, I realise that every single card this week is a birthday card – maybe I have a problem?! – but surely we send more birthday cards than any other type of card, right? I hope so, I hope you are enjoying this week of birthday cards, and um, that you continue to come back and see me here at StampinByHannah

Did that sound like begging, because I didn’t mean it to. I just don’t want you to leave me, I like you….. ok, I’ll stop now.

Do you want to see a card?!

right, here we go

Stampin' Up! UK Awesomely Artistic Birthday

I made this card for my Aunt a few weeks ago (the middle of January!) using Awesomely Artistic and Perfect Pairings. I really enjoy inky techniques, and getting a bit messy – this card was so much fun to make!

There are several colours going on here, layers of Mint Macaron, Pool Party and Lost Lagoon, in both stamped and sponged form on the bottom and right hand side of the card. With splatters of Rich Razzleberry stamped in full and half strength to finish. I do wish I could explain my process here – I probably should make a video, because I can’t actually explain what I did, other than to say that I, the card and my desk were covered in ink by the time the card was complete!

Hope you are having a great day, and I’ll see you for another birthday card tomorrow!

Rose Wonder Watercolour

Stampin' Up! UK Rose Wonder Shimmer wink of stella

Once again I’ve gone mad with the shimmer on this one!

Stampin' Up! UK Rose Wonder Shimmer wink of stella

The Rose Wonder stamp set is one of my favourites from this years Spring Summer catalogue. I’ve stamped the rose in Basic Black on Watercolour paper, and watercoloured it in Rich Razzleberry and Old Olive. I have to admit I did make a mistake on this one, because the outline wasn’t black enough, and so I went over the lines with my Basic Black marker pen – which was fine, until I decided to add a layer of Wink of Stella (rookie error!) and of course because both Wink of Stella and the Stampin’ Write marker are water based, the black ran! Oops!

Stampin' Up! UK Rose Wonder Watercolour

In crafting there are no mistakes, just opportunities. And so I’ve added a button tied with a bow of Whisper White bakers twine. I know that you can still see some of the ‘opportunity’, but it looks better than it did before!

Watercolour Birthday Blooms

Stampin' Up! UK Watercolour birthday blooms

I have mentioned before how much I love playing with inks and water, but doing actual watercolouring is usually a bit beyond me …. or so I thought! Stampin' Up! UK Watercolour birthday blooms

I’ve been loving Rose Red over the past few weeks, and the colour totally inspired this card. I love how you can change the intensity of Stampin’ Up!® inks by adding water, and so when you’re using the inks to watercolour you get all sorts of variations in colour. The flower is coloured using only Rose Red ink, but you can see how many shades of pink there are in that one flower, with just one ink! Awesome!

The flower is stamped in the Archival Basic Black ink, which is great for watercolouring, although it will stain you stamps more than the traditional Classic ink. This is now my go to black, its beautiful, crisp and a true black.

Stampin' Up! Uk Birthday Blooms Watercolour

The leaves are watercoloured with Pear Pizzazz ink, and a halo of blue added around the flower with Pool Party

The Happy Birthday, taken from Butterfly Basics, is stamped onto Vellum, and added to the card by wrapping the vellum around the card stock.

Festival of Watercolour

Stampin' Up! UK Festival of Trees Watercolour

I’m a little bit in love with this card! I was sat brainstorming card designs last week and this card called out to me, check the video to see exactly how this card came together!

Stampin' Up! Uk Video Tutorial festival of trees

I’m still loving getting inky, and messy with my ink, water and stamps! and this card is no exception, using one of my favourite stamp sets of all time, with Stampin’ Write markers and my water spritzer

I realised when I went to do the voice over for this card that I had forgotten about the solid image stamp in this set. I had actually selected the stamp with spaces to add your baubles, which of course just filled in with ink and water once I had used my water spritzer! I did add some baubles to the trees though, using the dotty stamp with Versamark ink and Irredescent Ice embossing powder.

Stampin' Up! UK Festival of Trees Watercolour

The photos of course do not do this gorgeous embossing powder justice, I’m blaming the horrible storm and rain we were having when I was attempting to take these photos!
