StampinByHannah Project Share Project Working with a tricky Colour Combination…
Last weekend some of the Project Share Crew took part in a Blog Hop with a particularly tricky colour combination… I love sharing projects like this, being able to see so many different ways to use the same colours or products, so fun!
I love how Sally took the colours and saw a Christmas Theme… although I’ve used this stamp set for all year round occasions (I used it last year for my Mum’s Birthday Card).
I love how Jill has used the Hot Air Balloon from the Up and Away Thinlits to create this fabulously Simple Birthday Card

Today is my youngest Brother-in-Law’s birthday, he’s 17, and so cards aren’t really his thing… however, they are mine, and so he gets one anyway!
Cards for guys are always a little tricky, however, Stampin’ Up! have made it a whole lot easier with this Designer Series Paper. Best Route is a fun mix of bold colours and generic patterns, all with the hint of a travel theme…. perfect for your Road Trip Scrapbook Album, or some fun cards!
I thought I would have some fun with colour on this one… the entire front is Gray Granite Designer Series Paper while the card base itself is Mango Melody. Usually I made tent fold cards, but they don’t stand very well on my Mother-in-laws slippy furniture, so I went for a more traditional book fold style for this card.
The secret to a good guy card is simple details… Here I’ve created layers using different pieces of the Best Route Designer Series Paper, added a length of ribbon, the sentiment on a Stitched Circle die cut, a trio of sequins and a cute mini paperclip from the Share What You Love Embellishment kit to finish.
The stamping is taken from the Picture Perfect Birthday Stamp Set; a fun mix of birthday images and sentiments that work really well for guys birthdays.
I couldn’t not add something to the inside… so I mirrored the Designer Series Paper layers and added a second birthday sentiment in Blueberry Bushel.

StampinByHannah Make It Monday Blended Seasons and Watercolour Pencils
I’ve been sharing a whole heap of projects using the fabulous August Exclusive Stamp Set; Blended Seasons this month…. you can find heaps of Blended Season Inspiration over on my dedicated Pinterest Board, as well as in my Facebook Live video from the beginning of the month.
I’ve had masses of fun with this stamp set, particularly using the August Exclusive Watercolour Pencils… Today’s video shows several ways to use the Stampin’ Up! Watercolour Pencils and a couple of different effects you can create with them too!
I do have some top tips for using Watercolour Pencils:
add pencil to areas where shadows would naturally appear
blend out the pencil using a damp paint brush or aqua painter
use a Wink of Stella Brush Pen to complete the blending and add some sparkle!
You could also use a Blender Pen to blend out the colour
The Watercolour Pencils Assortment 2 and Blended Seasons stamp and die bundle both retire on the 31st August… so grab them today before they go forever!

StampinByHannah InspireINK Blog Hop Smiling with Eastern Beauty
Welcome to this month’s InspireINK Blog hop! This month the fabulous Lisa Emslie set us a tricky colour combination… I cannot wait to hop around with you and see what the other ladies have made. For now though, shall we check out my card? oh, and that colour combination!
I spent a LONG time staring at these colours before coming up with anything at all. But, I did settle on using the Eastern Beauty stamp set, and coordinating Eastern Medallion Thinlits. They just seemed to fit together
The main focus of this card is that pretty Medallion in Merry Merlot Card Stock. The detail has been embossed into the card stock using the Eastern Medallion Thinlits and the Stampin’ Up! Embossing Mats, and the Big Shot. I am loving the Embossing mats, you can use them to create a whole heap of different effects. I have made a video about how this works before, but here is the sandwich you need to use:
Big Shot Embossing Mat Sandwich:
Stampin’ Up! Big Shot Platform
Clear Cutting Plate
Dies laid with the cutting edge up
Card stock
the THIN blue embossing mat
White impressions plate
Because you need the dies laid with the cutting edge up, I find that the easiest way to do this is to place your dies on your card stock as you would usually and then use Washi tape to secure them before turning the whole lot over. This way, you know (particularly if your lining up with some stamping) that your embossing is going to be in the right place.
It’s also worth noting that the Eastern Medallion dies don’t actually cut the medallion from the card stock, and that you need the coorinating Layering Circles Dies to do that bit.
The card is completed with a hint of Bermuda Bay Stamping, the sentiment in Daffodil Delight and some accents of Gold Foil.
I did think that the medallion was a little dark, so I added some Whisper White Ink Splatter. I Love the effect!
Now, check out what the others have made with this tricky colour combination by hitting the NEXT button below…

StampinByHannah Origami Pen Holder using Designer Series Paper
I’m been on a storage kick recently… with my Embellishment holders, Divided Boxes and Memories and More Storage! And today that continues, with these fun Pen Holders made from a single piece of Designer Series Paper and no glue! How cool!
I found these during a Pinterest trawl, when I found THIS blog post from Gathering Beauty.
These are super easy to put together, particularly if you use a thinner paper like these ones from the Tea Room Speciality Designer Series Paper pack, or the Frosted Florals from the upcoming Autumn Winter Catalogue.
The ones I’m sharing today use US Letter sized paper, 8-1/2 x 11″ but you can totally use A4 sized paper too, you just get a different sized box at the end! If you use A4 you end up with a more rectangular box, rather than these which are square. Either way though they are going to look fab on your desk holding pens, or on your bed side table holding a tiny plant…. what else could you use these for?
Instructions:
Lay your paper in front of you, with the long edge at the top. Fold the paper in half and open it out again.
Fold in both sides to meet the centre fold, and open back out again.
Next, fold the paper back in half along the centre line and ensure that the folded edge is on the right.
Fold the bottom right corner up to meet the centre line, creating a triangle. Repeat on the top right corner
Take the top layer of paper on the left side, and fold the bottom left corner to meet the centre line to make a triangle. Repeat on the top left.
Then, fold the bottom two triangle up, creating a crease at the along the bottom of the triangles. Repeat this on the top triangles. Open back out and rotate so that your paper now looks like the shape of a house.
Fold the bottom flap up, so that the triangle meet.
Lift this new layer to reveal a pocket. Then, continue to pull to form the back and 2 sides of your box. You might need to re-enforce your creases here to help form your box.
Position your box with the back facing you. There should be 3 squares facing away from you.
Take the right hand square and bring the two scored lines together to form a triangle. Repeat on the left.
Tuck these triangles into the triangular pockets on the sides of your box.
Check out the video to see how quickly these come together.

This week’s Inspire.Create.Challenges challenge is a bright and fun colour combination! We’ve had a fair number of grey days here recently, and I think that this colour combo should brighten anybody’s day!
I’ve been playing with the Blended Season’s Bundle again… I’m sorry, I know that this is two days in a row… but I just cannot get enough! I have actually now put it away in a drawer so I can’t see it, because I feel like every project this month has featured this fab stamp set!
August has been crazy, with most of my weeks spent on the road with my day job, so simple stamping is the absolute order of the day, and this card was whipped up in a matter of minutes. A base of Bermuda Bay with a mat of Basic Black to make the stamping POP!
Fussy cutting isn’t my speciality, particularly fussy cut sentiments, but I think I just about got away with it here with the Congrats heat embossed onto Melon Mambo card stock, and layered over those Lemon Lime Twist stamped leaves. A hint of Bermuda Bay splatter and a trio of Rhinestones and this card is done!

I have had SO much fun with the Stampin’ Up! August Exclusive Stamp and Die bundle; Blended Seasons. I’ve made so many fun projects with it, including a fabulous FREE class for anyone that spends £45 in my Online Store this month, and a fun Facebook Live… and two more cards that I’m sharing with you today and tomorrow!
The Blended Season’s Bundle, along with an exclusive pack of Watercolour Pencils retired on the 31st August, or sooner if the stock runs out! I will keep you up to date if this goes into limited stock on my Facebook Page. This is one of those stamp sets that is perfect for a heap of occasions throughout the year, with images that work for Summer, Autumn, Christmas and into the new year, as well as a collection of really useful sentiments too. Definitely a great addition to your stamp collection!
I’ve kept things simple for this card; although the sentiment piece did throw up some challenges! I love using vellum, but it’s always a little tricky to adhere to projects. Here the sentiment is stamped in Gray Granite, and set with Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder (because ink takes FOREVER to dry on Vellum!). Then, there are 2 glue dots hidden under this stunning Glitter Enamel Dots to adhere it to the card! Sneaky!
Oh, and that background effect… that’s created by splattering Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Write Marker across the card stock 🙂

StampinByHannah Make It Monday Twisted Gate Fold Card using Garden Impressions from Stampin’ Up!
Do you have a list of projects you have to have a go at? I know I do… actually the notes section of my phone is full of project ideas, lists of videos to make, and creative musings! Today’s project is one that has been on that list for quite some time, but I think that it was worth the wait….
I am loving this Designer Series Paper… its the Garden Impressions 6 x 6″ paper stack, which I will admit I really wasn’t taken with on first viewing, but I have used it SO much! I think I’m going to have to grab another pack soon! It coordinates with the Abstract Impressions Stamp and Die Bundle which includes a heap of really pretty sentiments and gorgeous flower stamps… and then there are the dies! Check out the images at the bottom of this post to see them in detail.
While I’m on a coordination kick, its also worth noting that the Garden Impressions Designer Series Paper also coordinates with a whole HEAP of Stampin’ Up! colours: Calypso Coral, Mango Melody, Melon Mambo, Night of Navy, Pacific Point, Petal Pink, Powder Pink, Shaded Spruce, Soft Seafoam, So Saffron and Whisper White! All of which are available in ink and card stock, for fully coordinating projects. AND there are ribbons, and embellishments available too! Isn’t that awesome?!
Measurements:
Card Base: Soft Seafoam Card Stock; 21 x 14.8 cm
Scored on the long side at 7 and 14 cm. Then, score the end panels from top right to bottom left.
Whisper White: 6.5 x 14.3 cm. Cut 3 pieces, cut one piece from top right to bottom left, and one from top left to bottom right.
Designer Series Paper: 6 x 13.8 cm. Cut 2 pieces, and cut one piece from top right to bottom left, and one from top left to bottom right.
Cutting the Designer Series Paper the right way is important… unless you want different patterns on the front and back of your card, then you could cut them both the same.
