Happy Birthday from Avant Garden

This card came about from me playing about with the Avant Garden when if first arrived in my crafty office last week. I stamped various parts of the stamp set on a piece of Very Vanilla and made a sort of stamp set sampler… which turned into this card! I have been playing with Mint Macaron a lot again recently (read: trying to get it out of my system before it retires at the end of May… I am already in mourning), but I don’t think I had combined it with Flirty Flamingo before now….I think I like it?!

My Favourite bit of this card though is the flower at the top, made using the leave stamp from Avant Garden, and I really need to do it again, maybe a whole card just with that one stamp…

right, that’s me blogged for today… I have a busy day of crafting planned, need to get sorted and blogged through til the middle of April before my life gets crazy at the end of March!

Advant Garden meets Rose Wonder

Sympathy Card using Avant Garden and Rose Garden from Stampin' Up! UK

Sometimes we have to make cards we don’t like, sometimes we have to make sad cards, cards that are hard to make not because its a technique we struggle with but because its for a sad occasion… this was me last week. Last week I lost my grandfather after a year long battle with Cancer, I don’t write sad blog posts, I write happy smiley blog posts about happy crafting… but this card might be the hardest card I have ever had to make.

I made two of these, one for my dad and the other for my Aunt. They are super simple, but what is more heartfelt than a hand stamped card.

The flower is from Avant Garden (FREE during Sale-a-bration, all you need to do to claim your copy is spend £45 in my Online Store before 31st March) while the sentiments are taken from Rose Wonder…. a set which I had totally not realised has several sentiments perfect for sad occasions, I had only managed to see the wedding side of this stamp set before.

I have to say though, the only thing harder than making these cards was writing in them…

For some things there are just no words…..

Avant Garden Congratulations Card

Pretty Floral Congratulations card using Avant Garden and Blooms and Bliss Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up! UK

I send a lot of cards (it is my job after all!) but my absolute favourite type of card to send is Congratulations! I love sending these out to team members and my Stampin’ sisters, and I am trying to be better at sending them to friends and family too. I made this card for one of my lovely Stampin’ buddies who managed something totally amazing a few weeks ago…

One of the many many reasons I love Stampin’ Up! is coordination, the Designer Series Paper here is in the exact same colours as the stamping on the die cut circle, and as the ribbon, and the card base and the sentiment…. it all matches, there is no guess work, it just works! The Designer Series Paper is from Blooms and Bliss, and is in Mint Macaron, Island Indigo and Sahara Sand…. and I used it as my colour inspiration for the rest of the card.

Can you tell that there is a difference between the backing paper and that circle…. the circle is hand stamped using the Avant Garden stamp set in the same colour … see what I was saying about perfect coordination! Now, I know that there is not a Congratulations stamp in Avant Garden – I selected another Sale-a-bration freebie for this one, Designer Tee (more than just for T-shirts!). I am loving this fabulous stamp set that is FREE during Sale-a-bration, all you need to do to claim your copy is spend £45 in my Online Store before 31st March

Oh, and then I finished this one with the first square knot that I have ever tied successfully! So proud, I have no idea why on earth I struggled so much with it, maybe I’m not bow challenge but ribbon challenged instead!

Oh I have a great week of projects for you this week… a whole week, that’s 7 full days of projects using Avant Garden! I am loving this fabulous stamp set that is FREE during Sale-a-bration, all you need to do to claim your copy is spend £45 in my Online Store before 31st March

I will confess that I was totally struggling for inspiration for this Make It Monday, but I turned to my main source of inspiration (no, not Pinterest – although that comes a close second!) but the Stampin’ Up! Catalogue. One of the concerns I get a LOT when I’m talking to those of you thinking of joining my lovely team, is about inspiration and not being able to think of things to make for blog posts or classes or parties, and I have to say that Stampin’ Up! give us SO much inspiration that I don’t think that you ever need to look anywhere else…. not only do we have 3 fabulous catalogues filled with ideas every year, but demonstrators also get weekly emails, videos, and events all filled with inspiration, ideas and even techniques and tips! So, I don’t feel guilty for borrowing this card idea from the Sale-a-bration catalogue!

I have changed the colour combination, and added a layer of the gorgeous Sale-a-bration Glimmer Paper in Mint Macaron, but really its very similar to the card in the catalogue!

Stamp layering is one of my favourite techniques, getting all inky, playing with different colours and stamps, and every card you make is totally unique! Its really simple, particularly when you use a stamp set like Avant Garden, where the stamps are designed to layer with each other, grab a few inks that work well together and have a play (if you dont want to ‘waste’ card stock, use your grid paper or even some copier paper!)

Make It Monday | A Special Reason to use lots of Glimmer Paper!!!

Oh, I am so excited for this week! Tomorrow is the launch of 3 brand new and fabulous Sale-a-bration freebies!!! They are all so gorgeous, and I cannot wait to see what you make with them. I spent an afternoon last week making a whole heap of these cards using the new Glimmer Paper to make a bunch of cards for my lovely customers.

This new Glimmer Paper comes in 6 x 6 sheets, you get 12 sheets in 3 gorgeous colours for FREE when you spend £45 on Stampin’ Up! goodies. The colours in this pack are Bermuda Bay, Sweet Sugarplum and Mint Macaron and they coordinate beautifully with the Special Reason stamp and die bundle, as well as the Succulent Garden suite and Falling in Love Designer Series Paper. Speaking of Special Reason, this is my current Online Card Class, and you could choose this new Glimmer Paper as your class freebie when you join me in class too!

These cards are an edited version of one of the cards on the front of the new Sale-a-bration leaflet. I have sent out a bunch of these, but if you don’t have one there will be one available to download from my blog tomorrow when it goes live!

These cards were do fun to make, but I did have a totally disaster along the way! I had managed to put 3 of them together before my favourite Fast Fuse adhesive ran out! I had no idea I was so short of glue, and I don’t use non-Stampin’ Up! adhesives anymore (why would I, I’m saving 25% every time I buy it!), so I was so shocked when I checked in my back-up that there was a great big gap where my Fast Fuse refils usually sit! I shared this with the girls in the team, and they all found it hilarious that I was basically trying to make cards without glue! Although they did give me some great suggestions of alternatives! So, these cards were put together with a combination of Snail, Glue Dots and Tombow!
