Make It Monday | Guys Birthday Card using the Nailed It Bundle

Make It Monday Male Birthday Card using Nailed It From Stampin' Up! UK

Make It Monday

Welcome back to Make It Monday! I LOVE making these videos, I hope you enjoy watching them too. This week I thought I would share a male birthday card I made recently for my Father-In-Law.

Make It Monday Male Birthday Card using Nailed It From Stampin' Up! UK

Male birthday cards can be tricky, especially when you’re like me and most of your stamp collection seams to be flowers or butterflies! I prefer a ‘pretty’ style, and so guy cards can be a challenge, however, Stampin’ Up! have made guy cards super easy with the Nailed It bundle. Not only does it include a selection of tool (no I cannot name them, my husband will be very disappointed in me!) but handy extras like screws, and a great hexagon. I LOVE Stampin’ Up! bundles, they come with the stamp and the coordinating die set, and when you buy the bundle (rather than the separate items) you save 10% ! Win Win!

The Nailed It bundle also coordinates with some other great items in the Spring Summer catalogue; I am having heaps of fun with the Hexagon Dynamic Embossing folder, and I might have to grab a second pack of the Urban Underground Designer Series Paper! I have recently received a pack of the Urban Underground embellishments too, and I cannot wait to get those on a card!

Question of the Day: What is your favourite method of tackling a Men’s card?

I try and find a theme; tools, cars, or failing that a cool embossing folder and a big sentiment! anything to get back to making pretty cards with flowers and butterflies!

Love Hearts Week | Origami Box

Love Hearts Week Origami Box Video Tutorial using Sending Love Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up! UK

Love Hearts sweets Video tutorials

Oh my goodness, this box looks really complicated but it is SO easy! The tutorial I found for this was on the Gathering Beauty blog, and I have re-made it using 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper.

Sending Love Designer Series paper Origami Box Stampin' Up! UK

This cute box holds two mini rolls of Love Hearts, but you could make it with any size paper you like (as long as it is square) to hold what ever you like! how cool!

Instructions:

  1. Fold you piece of Designer Series Paper in half, turn and fold in half again. Then unfold and lay with the print you want on the outside, face down.
  2. Fold the bottom edge to meet the halfway mark, rotate and repeat on the opposite side. Unfold and lay flat, you should now see 8 rectangles
  3. Fold the bottom edge to meet the top fold line, rotate and repeat on the opposide side. Unfold and lay flat, you should now see a further 8 smaller rectangles
  4. Fold the top corners to meet the 2 fold line down, and the bottom corners to meet the 2nd fold line up
  5. Rotate your paper so the fold lines are vertical, and turn your paper over so you can now see the print you want on the outside of your box
  6. Fold the bottom edge to meet the halfway mark, rotate and repeat on the opposite side. Then fold the paper edge back
  7. You have now created two flaps, lift one flap, you should see two triangles, open up the triangle to make a rectangle. Do this on both sides
  8. Turn your paper over again so that the print you want on the outside of the box is face down
  9. You need to bring the flaps you created back over so you can see them. To do this you need to fold so that the edge of the flap meets the edge of the two rectangles that you can currently see (check the video for this bit, it is easier to demonstrate that explain)
  10. To construct the box; raise the flap to create the sides, you should then be able to fold the outside flaps to fold the lids of the box. You need to take the triangles on the flaps (that we got rid of before) and fold them to the second crease on the side of the box. This should pull the top of the box up. Repeat on all four triangles
  11. To close the box you can push one side of the lid into the triangles side the other side of the lid

Love Hearts Week Origami Box Video Tutorial using Sending Love Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up! UK

You could make a bunch of these and store them flat (so stop at instruction 9). Right I am off to make a bigger one out of a full piece of 12 x 12! Now, which paper to choose…..

Question of the day: What has been your favourite project this week?

I love them all! I LOVE this box, but the ink technique from Wednesday is something I will be playing with again I am sure 🙂

Sale-a-bration team blog hop Using Carried Away Lift me Up and Designer Tee from Stampin' Up! UK

I have been playing with the Lift Me Up! bundle for months, (its been in my inky fingers since September last year when I was asked to make samples with it for the On Stage Local event in Telford!) but I have not got tired of it yet! It coordinate perfectly with the Sale-a-bration item; Carried Away Designer Series Paper which I have used in the background. I am currently taking every possible opportunity to use my favourite colour; Mint Macaron, before it sadly retires in June (get your refills now!)

The Sentiment is from another one of the Sale-a-bration items. Designer Tee, is designed to coordinate with the Custom Tee stamp and die bundle in the Spring / Summer catalogue, but I love that the sentiments fit with heaps of other stamp sets and occasions too. Side-note; how true is that sentiment!

I hope that you have enjoyed hopping along with me today, please click on the images below to check out the other ladies blogs!

Question of the day: Which one of this years out-going In Colours are you going to miss most?

I am totally devastated to loose Mint Macaron, I have just about everything crossed that it might find its way back to us at some point…

Global Design Project 071 – 3D Squishy bag!

Global Design Project 3D challenge Pop of Pink squishy bag

I LOVE taking part in challenges! I am trying to join in with the Global Design Project every single Tuesday (which to be honest is a challenge in itself!) but I am currently also challenging myself in other ways too, I think 2017 might just be the year of the challenge!

Global Design Project 071

I will openly admit that this challenge scared the pants of me (and I almost didn’t bother this week!) 3D is a really struggle for me, I am not blessed with that skill of being able to see a 3D project and then make it! and I had a quick look through my die collection, but there is nothing 3D in there either….. so I turned to Pinterest and remembered THIS fabulous project by my lovely friend Sam, I had been meaning to have a go at this bag, well this was my opportunity!

Global Design Project 3D challenge Pop of Pink squishy bag

The bag itself is really simple;

Measurements:

Designer Series Paper – 12 x 6″ (30.5 x 15 cm)

Score on the long side at 3 3/4, 5 3/4, 9 1/2 and 11 1/2″ (9.5, 14.5, 24, 29 cm)

Score on the short side at 1 1/2″ (4 cm)

gdp-071-pootles-bag

I have used the Pop of Pink Speciality Designer Series Paper (which I have been hoarding, because it is just so damn pretty!) and it sent me onto a bit of a Gold kick! The panel on the front of the bag is 2 x 2 3/4″ and I coated it in Versamark and heat embossed it in Gold embossing powder! The layer on the top is 1 3/4 x 2 1/2″ of Whisper White, and I’ve used the Swirly Bird stamp set to add a touch of Flirty Flamingo (all that Gold was getting a bit too much!)

Thanks so much for checking out my little corner of the internet today, and I hope to see you again soon!

Birthday Card Club Birthday Card using Balloon Adventures from Stampin' Up! UK

Birthday Card Club Birthday Card using Balloon Adventures from Stampin' Up! UK

I think my favourite bit of this card (other than that great die cut!) is the ribbon! You all know that bow’s are totally not my greatest skill, but this ribbon makes bow tying so much easier. It’s the brand new 1/8″ Taffeta ribbon in Emerald Envy, that coordinates with the Party Animal suite. I will put the full suite in the product list at the end of this post.

Don’t forget to grab your place on the Birthday Card Club, remember today is the last day to sign up. I will be closing the books at midnight, so sign up now so you don’t miss out!

Question of the day:

I haven’t done one of these for a while, but I am bringing them back! So, today’s question…… What is your favourite page in the new Stampin’ Up! Spring Summer catalogue?

I don’t think I could pick one page, can I choose it all?! lol

Global Design Project #070 | Falling for you…. and a ladybird!

Global Design Project Celebration card using Falling in Love with Lots of Love from Stampin' Up! UK

Oh yes, I’m back working with a Global Design Project sketch again this week. I am planning for this to be my weekly Tuesday blog post, however last week was crazy from the second I opened my eyes on Monday morning, and the crazy didn’t end until Sunday night…. I’m hoping for calm this week (but something tells me everything is about to go pear shaped again!)

Global Design Project Stampin' Up! Cardmaking challenge

I love the simplicity of this sketch, and I did have a plan to keep things really simple…. but then I spotted the couple of ladybirds on my stamp shelves and things went a little differently!

Global Design Project Celebration card using Falling in Love with Lots of Love from Stampin' Up! UK

But aren’t they just so cute! I knew I wanted to use Designer Series Paper for the banner across the card, and I haven’t been able to put this pack of DSP away recently – its the brand new Sending Love Designer Series Paper stack that features loads of lovely patterns, one side of the paper is love / Valentines themed while the other is great polka dots and other more neutral patterns, but all in Real Red and Whisper White.

Sketch Challenge Celebration card with Ladybirds from Lots of Love and Falling in Love from Stampin' Up! UK

Those cute Ladybirds are from the Love You Lots, this fabulous stamp set is available with Stampin’ Rewards… and seeing as you have even more Stampin’ Rewards during Sale-a-bration this would be the perfect time to get your hands on it!

Thanks for checking out my blog today, and I hope to see you again soon

Question of the Day: What are you doing today?

I’m off to the day job today, a lovely 9-5 day…. although I’m then off to the gym for the first time in, well lets just call it slightly too long! Wish me luck!
