Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge – December 2016

Stampin' Up! Sketch Challenge

Hello! Welcome to the Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge for December! One of our brand new members Amanda Charlesworth set us a fabulously swirly challenge this month, and while I have straightened out the swirls to fit in with my style I cannot wait to see what the other girls have made!

Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge December challenge using Birthday Blossoms from Stampin' Up! UK

Amanda’s original sketch had a swirl on the diagonal from top to bottom, but seeing as I don’t own a single swirl stamp I have removed that bit of the sketch. This is one of those things I love doing with sketched, changing them to suit what I own and my style of card making. I do however love the floral cluster idea in the middle of the card, so I took that and ran with it!

The darker flowers are punched using the Blossom Builder punch, and I have used the faux suede technique to create these fabulously textured flowers

Thank you so much for checking out the Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge this month, we can’t wait to see you again in the new year!

Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge | November 2016

Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge using Frosted Medallions from Stampin' Up! UK

Stampin' Up! Sketch Challenge

Oh yes, it’s the 3rd Saturday of the month, which only means one thing around here…. It’s time for the Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge!

This month’s sketch was created by the gorgeous Anna Krol, and I cannot wait to see what everyone makes of it!

Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge November 2016

I think this sketch would be a perfect opportunity to use those fabulous Stitched Shapes Framelits (and I am sure that there will be a few of the ladies who have done just that) however, seeing as they haven’t found a home in my crafty office yet, and I don’t have any oval dies either, I’ve switched things up a bit, and swapped it for some stamping instead!

The Best is Yet to Come sketch challenge card using Frosted Medallions from Stampin' Up! UK

This card is almost a one layer number actually… thinking about it how cute would it be on some 2 x 2″ tags for Christmas!

A few weeks ago at a Stampin’ Up! event I was reminded of this technique, which is so simple that it probably doesn’t even have name! Stamping with your clear blocks! Here I have inked up my Clear Block (G) in Pool Party, Marina Mist and Watermelon Wonder to create this cool textured, layered stamping look.

Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge using Frosted Medallions from Stampin' Up! UK

The cute doily stamp is from Frosted Medallions, as is the sentiment, and both are stamped in Island Indigo. I almost left it there, but it just needed a little something, and I did think about adding some sparkle, Wink of Stella or Rhinestones, but then no, a simple spritz of Island Indigo and Tangerine Tango will do.

Watercolour with Jar of Love

Pinkies Team Design Challenge Colouring Watercolour with Jar of Love from Stampin' Up! UK

Hello folks! I’ve been challenged (again!) to share a card using colouring today. One of my team leaders, the gorgeous Michelle Last, sets us a challenge every other month, and you know what I’m like, I cannot pass on either an opportunity to colour or to take part in a challenge!

Pinkies Team Design Challenge Colouring Watercolour with Jar of Love from Stampin' Up! UK

So, we were challenge to create a card using a colouring, and I ALMOST selected an image I could colour… but then I had a think and decided that I would ‘colour’ a background.

The card base is Bermuda Bay, with a layer of Basic Grey, and finally a layer of Shimmery White Card stock. Now, I LOVE to watercolour on my cards, but watercolour paper is kinda pricey, well Shimmery White is a great alternative, it watercolours great, it’s smooth, and it’s a bit cheaper too! So, I grabbed my Aqua Painters and some Bermuda Bay ink and watercoloured a background to ground my Vellum jar.

Watercolour card using Jar of Love from Stampin' Up! UK

The flowers are also stamped on Shimmery White, in Rose Red, and once I had die cut them (loving the coordinating dies that are bundled with Jar of Love!) I spritzed them with a whole heap of water and left them to sit a while – this caused the ink to bleed and run, creating a variation in colour when I dabbed the water off with a piece of kitchen towel.

I haven’t added a sentiment yet, I know, I really should, but I’m saving that part until I have a suitable recipient!

Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge | October 2016

Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge October 2016 Designer Tin of Cards Floral Boutique Card using Stampin' Up! UK products

Stampin' Up! Sketch Challenge

Oh yes, It’s that time again! Time for the Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge! I LOVE taking part in this challenge every month, we have a great time working with a sketch set by one of our members, and this month it is the gorgeous Sally Shaw.

Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge October 2016

Now, this sketch scared the pants off me! I would consider myself quite well versed in working with a sketch by now, but really I had NO idea what I was going to do with this one. When Sally sent it over to me to create the graphic I sat for a few minutes trying to see a stamp set or some Designer Series Paper, or anything I could work with as a jumping off point. My brain chose this moment to loose all creativity…. I had nothing!

But, it’s Ok, because the other thing that my brain does to me on a regular basis is remind me of stuff, this image kept coming to me – always when I was driving, or a work…. never anywhere I could be creative to get this sketch onto paper! Typical! But the one thing that kept coming back was those two long thin boxes and the idea of replacing them with ribbon or twine.

Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge October 2016 Designer Tin of Cards Floral Boutique Card using Stampin' Up! UK products

And so the thought of Twine became my jumping off point! I have made a few cards with a similar design recently, there is just something about those Layering Circles that just makes me want to use them all the time!

Seeing as I had a brand new spool of Night of Navy Bakers Twine it seemed sensible to use it on this card, one I had a colour I found this lovely Designer Series Paper in my paper storage, and that then linked me to the coordinating stamp set; Floral Phrases. The band across the card (yes I know, its not on the sketch, I’m using some artistic licence here) is heat embossed in white onto Night of Navy – love that border stamp.

Sending Love card using Floral Boutique and Designer Tin of Cards from Stampin' Up! UK

The Sentiment is taken from the Designer Tin of Cards stamp set. It has a heart on it, and it just felt completely right to cover it with an Enamel Shape, I nearly kept to the monotone theme and used a Night of Navy heart too, but then remembered another challenge I took part in ages ago with was about monotone with a pop of colour, and so added a Real Red heart instead.

So, seeing as I couldn’t get my head around the sketch at all when it first landed on my desk, I am really rather pleased with the card I have created this week!

I cannot wait to see what the others have made this month, why not join me and hop along to the next person in our Challenge by using the Next button below.

Global Design Project 057 – Colour Challenge

Global Design Project Colour Challenge using Garden in Bloom from Stampin' Up! UK

Hello! I am loving the colour challenge over at the Global Design Project this week; a great combination of Rich Razzleberry, Blushing Bride and Mint Macaron

gdp057

Now, you guys no how much I love a bit of white space, and so White always features on my projects, but this time I just couldn’t picture using one of these colours for my card base either; so I have added a touch of Crumb Cake to ground my design. Now, I’m sure that adding a neutral was allowed by the GDP, but now I can’t find it in the guidelines, oh well! Here is my card anyway

Global Design Project Colour Challenge using Garden in Bloom from Stampin' Up! UK

I’m still holding onto the last moments of summer, even though it is getting distinctly cold around here, I’m just not ready for Winter and Christmas yet! And this colour combination felt summer-y to me, so I grabbed for Garden in Bloom and made a summer-y Birthday card!

The Rich Razzleberry flower was stamped separately and fussy cut, before being added to the card with a dimensional.

The sentiment is from the Endless Birthday Wishes stamp set, I’m still loving the combination of those fonts, so pretty.

Global Design Project 057 using Garden in Bloom from Stampin' Up! UK

The flower centres are super easy to do too – punched out using the Blossom Builder Punch, and then I used to Faux Suede technique to create these cute dimensional flowers (video on that one coming soon!)

Thanks for visiting StampinByHannah today, hope to see you here again soon!

Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge – September 2016

Watercolour card using Frosted Medallions from Stampin' Up! UK for the Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge

Stampin' Up! Sketch ChallengeHello! I am so pleased to be back and sharing with the Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge! You may have noticed that we took last month off (August is just too busy already!) but we are back this month with a great challenge set by the gorgeous Mandy Barton! Although, we have no sketch! The challenge set to us was …. Anything Goes!

How scary! and I will admit that I have been wracking my brains on this one for most of the month, and actually only managed to create my project on Thursday evening! (and this blog post was only written at 8AM this morning, nothing like a deadline!) I am usually more organised, but this past week has been just crazy busy – I was at a team training event last weekend, and then my job has really kicked in this week too. Anyway, that’s enough of my moaning! Time for my card ….

Watercolour card using Frosted Medallions from Stampin' Up! UK for the Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge

This stamp set was gifted to me last weekend, and although it had caught my eye in the catalogue it hadn’t found it’s way into my craft room – but my lovely team leader is just a little bit psychic and always managed to send me things that I either LOVE and use all the time, or things that I LOVE but haven’t managed to purchase yet! This medallion it just so pretty, and I couldn’t not heat emboss it as it’s first use!

Saying that, the heat embossing is a little bit special, and a mixture of clear and copper heat embossing. I heat embossed the medallion in Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder, and then while I still had the powder melted I added a few pinches of Copper Embossing Powder too.

Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge Frosted Medallions watercolour card using Stampin' Up! UK products

The background was created using Rose Red, Sweet Sugarplum and Tempting Turquoise. I just love this watercolour technique, I think I have a video on it somewhere, will have a look and share later in the week.

Oh, and before I go, the last totally cool technique I have used on this card is using the Fine-Tip glue pen to create little raised dots, that are almost like water droplets. So pretty!

Right, on-wards with the blog hop! Please use the NEXT button to hop on to the fabulous Sally Shaw, I cannot wait to see what she has created

colour-challenge

I’m loving Night of Navy and Watermelon wonder together, really classy. One of the fabulous design team used the Swirly Scribbles dies and Gold foil paper on their project this week and I just loved the look and so used it as my starting point for this card.

Thank you card featuring Swirly Bird and Thoughtful Thanks from Stampin' Up! UK

From the gold swirl, I stamped some of the cute flowers from Swirly Bird in Watermelon Wonder and Versamark (for a touch of Gold embossing) and die cut them using the matching framelits.

Swirly bird card using Stampin' Up! UK productsThe Thanks is taken from Thankful Thoughts, and is stamped in Night of Navy. I had thought about adding some ink splatter, but I’m glad I left it off, giving this clean card.

Pootles Colour Challenge!

Pootles Colour Challenge using Butterfly Basics from Stampin' Up! UK

Pootles Colour Challenge

Right, its that time again, I’m on a challenge roll! My lovely friend Sam has this colour challenge on her blog every week and I have been trying for ages to join in but somehow life keeps stopping me – well not this week! I’m on annual leave from the day job this week and even managed to get the weekend off! (which was a last minute surprise!) so I managed to carve out sometime on Sunday to make a card for Sam.

Pootles Colour Challenge Birthday Card using Butterfly Basics from Stampin' Up!

So, the colour challenge this week was to use:

I had so much fun creating the background of this card! I am planning a Make It Monday video, but it will be a few weeks before I get it to you (yes, I’m evening managing to film ahead of time!!!!)

This card uses Butterfly Basics, which is definitely one of my Must Have stamp sets, with the flowers heat embossed in white over the watercolour background.

Butterfly Basics Card using Stampin' Up! UK products

The sentiment is stamped in Rich Razzleberry and heat embossed in clear on Vellum.

I had so much fun taking part in this colour challenge….. right, I’m off to make another card for a different colour challenge, which you can see on Thursday!

Global Design Project 052 | Thankful Thoughts

Thank you card using Thankful Thoughts From Stampin' Up! UK

Wow, it is SO long since I took part in any challenges! This summer has been so crazy; I have no idea how I have managed to keep to my regular schedule, but I have – and now, now things are getting back to normal, now my day job has settled down a little, and James has gone back to placement, I might actually have some time to get back to things here on my blog, some workshops and classes organised and event maybe some other bits and pieces done too!

This weekend is busy here on the blog though, I’ve managed to join in with the Global Design Project today, and then I have 2 awesome Blog Hops happening too! Yay!

Global Design Project CASE Teneale Williams

This week’s challenge is to CASE the gorgeous Teneale Williams. Teneale is so talented and her blog is always so inspiring, and totally worth checking out.

Case Teneale Williams Thank you card using Thankful Thoughts From Stampin' Up! UKI’m feeling quite bright and cheery with this card; loving the summery colour combination. I think it’s probably because I’ve spend most of my crafty time over the past few weeks working on Christmas-y projects. I was starting to get that festive feeling, but I think with the sunny weather I’m so not in the mood for Christmas crafting this week (saying that there are still festive projects coming this to you this week!)

Simple Thank you card using Thankful thoughts from Stampin' Up! UK

I used the card from Teneale as a sketch, which I then rotated by 90 degrees to create this card. The sentiment is from Thankful Thoughts, although the full stamp reads ‘Thank You So Much’ I selectively inked the stamp using a Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Write Marker.

Thank you so much for checking out my blog today, I would LOVE for you to subscribe to my blog or newsletter (using the buttons on the right hand side, or below if your on a mobile device) or check out my Facebook or Youtube – name the same as it is here.

See you again soon!

Global Design Project #045

Global Design Project Colour Challenge card featuring Garden in Bloom and Playful Backgrounds from Stampin' Up! UK

It has been so long since I took part in a challenge, I have really missed it. Anyway, I have been trying to get this card posted all week and seeing as I have finally found 10 minutes to get this blog post written, now appears to be the time!

Global Design Project Colour Challenge

I love this colour combination! So classy, but not a colour combo I reach for often!

Global Design Project Colour Challenge card featuring Garden in Bloom and Playful Backgrounds from Stampin' Up! UK

There are two stamp sets at work here; Garden in Bloom and Playful Backgrounds. The Flower is stamped in Melon Mambo and Basic Black before being fussy cut. While the stripy background is a stamp from Playful Backgrounds and has been stamped and then stamped again without re-inking to create this two tone effect

Global Design Project Colour challenge Garden in Bloom Playful Backgrounds Stampin' Up! Uk

I couldn’t help but to add something a little bit extra to this fairly simple card, I am obsessed with the Metallic threads at the moment and some loops of silver were just what this card needed.

Thanks so much for checking out my blog today, and I hope to see you all again here soon
