How to make a quick and easy floral birthday card using Birthday Blooms from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah International Blog Highlights All About Flowers

Kylies International Blog Highlight banner

I had so much fun taking part in Kylie’s International Blog Highlight last month, that I knew I just HAD to do it again! This month’s challenge is ‘All About Flowers’ and while I have a small mountain of flower stamps, I have chosen to grab my favourite; Birthday Blooms.

All About Flowers Birthday Card using Birthday Blooms from Stampin' Up! for Kylie Bertucci's internationl blog highlights

I stamped the big bloom in Basic Grey onto Whisper White card stock, then sponged Fresh Fig ink over the bottom left hand corner before die cutting the whole thing using the Stitched Shapes Framelits. I don’t know about you, but I seriously can NOT put these away! They are most definitely one of my most used products in 2017.

Fun Floral Birthday Card using Birthday Blooms from Stampin' Up!

The flower is the main focus of this card, and so I tried to keep the rest of the card pretty simple. I love the hearts boarder stamp, but I can sometimes struggle to actually use it! Here it is stamped in Powder Pink. I stamped the sentiment, and put the card together, but it felt just a little plain. So, I added some Basic Grey splatter with a Stampin’ Write Marker.

I hope that you have enjoyed your visit to StampinByHannah today. Please do take a moment to sign up for my twice weekly inspirational emails, or subscribe to my blog, and I hope to see you again soon

Half Full Birthday Card

Red Wine Watercolour Birthday card using Half Full from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah Half Full Birthday Card

I realised on Sunday morning that I hadn’t made a Birthday card for my mum (her birthday was yesterday!). Does this happen to other people? I make mountains of cards, but actually remembering to make a card for a loved one seems to fall off my radar! But it’s OK, because I realised also that I had a new stamp set in my collection! Half Full is a fabulous wine-theme’d stamp set, designed by Million Dollar seller Linda Bauwin, and gifted to me by my team leader at team training last weekend.

Watercoloured Wine Birthday Card using Half Full from Stampin' Up! by StampinByHannah

The Half Full stamp set can be found in the Autumn Winter catalogue, and comes with a bunch of fun Christmas-y sentiments, but nothing for birthday. So, I grabbed by favourite Happy Birthday stamp from the Butterfly Basics stamp set, and stamped it in Basic Black into Crushed Curry card stock.

My mum LOVES Red Wine… and so I pulled out Cherry Cobbler ink for the wine, and set about watercolouring! I haven’t watercoloured in a while (I know, it’s shocking!)… but this stamp set is just perfect for watercolour, or Stampin’ Blends. I love the watercolour effect here, created using a almost dry Aqua-Painter and several layers of ink…. and I might have had some kitchen roll to blot some of the excess ink off too.

#birthday #wine #wineoclock Watercoloured birthday card using Half Full from Stampin' Up!

The card is finished with a bow in Garden Green Stitched Satin Ribbon, and a strip of Champagne Foil!

Thoughtful Thursday | Fresh Floral Birthday Card

Thoughtful Thursday Fresh Floral Designer Series Paper Birthday Card for my Sister in Law using Stampin' Up! products

StampinByHannah Thoughtful Thursday Fresh Floral Birthday Card
Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator StampinByHannah Thoughtful Thursday

Oh I do love a good theme-d series here at StampinByHannah! This week sees the start of something I have been working on for AGES! Thoughtful Thursday!

Now… I will be using these Thursday blog post to share the cards I make for specific people, including birthday cards, thinking of you cards, and card just because. I LOVE sending an unexpected card, they are just so much fun!

Happy Birthday Gorgeous Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper Birthday Card using Stampin' Up! Products

So today’s card might not be the most unexpected card ever… but it is the first birthday card I have made for this person! My Brother’s fiancee, Rebecca. It was her birthday last weekend, and I’m not sure she even knows that I write this blog so it is definitely safe to share it here today!

This card is also a second take on the Inspire.Create.Challenges sketch challenge for this week (You should TOTALLY check out what the Design Team has made this week, they are Awesome!)

Thoughtful Thursday Fresh Floral Designer Series Paper Birthday Card for my Sister in Law using Stampin' Up! products

I am ever so slightly obsessed with this Designer Series Paper for fabulous Birthday cards at the moment. I made a card for my Sister-In-Law, Bella’s 18th Birthday using it last week! It is the Fresh Floral’s Designer Series Paper Stack… a classic mix of floral patterns, perfect for birthdays (or any occasion) all in this years In-Colours. This stack is bigger than the standard Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Paper packs, but it is well worth it, I use it all the time!

The Happy Birthday Thinlit is totally the star of this show though. Die cut 3 times, twice in Fresh Fig and once in the Beautiful Champagne Foil and stacked for extra dimension. It makes for a great centre-piece on your Birthday projects. I always apply the Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets the back of my card stock before I die cut this die, it just makes it SO much easier to stick together!

Inside a Fresh Florals Birthday card

I couldn’t leave the inside of this card plain. So I added a sheet of Whisper White card stock, with strip of that Fresh Floral’s Designer Series Paper and a splatter of Fresh Fig ink too.

I hope Rebecca LOVED this card as much as I do….

Fresh Florals 18th Birthday Card

Birthday Card using Fresh Florals and Number of Years from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah Fresh Florals 18th Birthday Card

We had a BIG birthday in our family yesterday. My Sister-in-Law turned 18! As usual James (my husband) requested a card for his sister… but he couldn’t have a normal card! Oh no, he had made a CD of some very embarrassing music for her, and so wanted a nice card for it to go in. While I’m not going to share a tutorial for this … its just quite a specific request! I will share the card as a whole with you.

Birthday Card using Fresh Florals and Number of Years from Stampin' Up!

Because this card was designed to fit a CD in it, it is a different size to my usual card creations. I do love making a square card every now and again, and this one has layers of Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper and Vellum (Yum!).

Card Measurements:

Card stock – Berry Burst – 10 x 5″ (25 x 12.5 cm)

Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper – 4 3/4 x 4 3/4″ ( 12 x 12 cm)

Vellum – 4 x 4″ (10 x 10 cm)

Fresh Florals Pink Happy Birthday Card using Number of Years from Stampin' Up!

I think Stampin’ Up! have the most perfect stamp set (and coordinating dies) for BIG birthdays…. the Number of Years stamp set and Large Numbers dies. These are BIG! Not only does the stamp set include numbers 0-8, it also has some really handy sentiments AND some pretty floral stamps too. Here I stamped the ’18’ in Whisper White Craft Ink onto Berry Burst card stock, and used the coordinating dies to cut them out. The rest of the sentiment is also stamped in Berry Burst, and also die cut from the Large Numbers dies.

Fresh Florals 18th Birthday Card Envelope using Number of Years from Stampin' Up!

I couldn’t just give my Sister-In-Law (Bella) a pretty card in a boring envelope could I? So, I used the Envelope Punch Board to make this fabulous envelope! It also uses the Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper, but in Fresh Fig this time. I LOVE making envelopes from Designer Series Paper, but writing on it can be a little tricky… so I created a tag for the front instead. I used the Number of Years stamp set again to stamp ’18’ in Berry Burst (stamped off once) and added her name using the Labeler Alphabet stamped in Fresh Fig.

Envelope Measurements:

Designer Series Paper – 8 1/8 x 8 1/8″

Punched and Scored at 4 1/8″ using the Envelope Punch Board

Closing homemade envelopes can be tricky… here I opted to wrap the envelope with some 1/8″ Sheer Ribbon in Whisper White. So pretty!

Learn to Stamp | Birthday Blossoms

Perfect Floral Birthday Wedding Card for Learn to Stamp Club using Birthday Blossoms Stamp Set from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah Learn to Stamp | Birthday Blossoms

Learn to stamp Cardmaking 101 online card class

I have been super busy over the past couple of weeks prepping my fabulous new Learn to Stamp Club! I am totally in LOVE with the projects I have created for you. The club features the Birthday Blossoms stamp set, and today’s card is a club reject!

Perfect Floral Birthday Wedding Card using Birthday Blossoms Stamp Set from Stampin' Up!This totally gorgeous creation uses the Birthday Blossoms stamp set and the coordinating Pansy Punch (which also comes as part of the club!). It has a Powder Pink card base, with layers of Melon Mambo and Very Vanilla. I LOVE this colour combination! I will be the first to admit that Melon Mambo is not my favourite Stampin’ Up! pink… it just a bit cold for me. But in this colour combination, Yum!

Learn to stamp club card using Birthday Blossoms from Stampin' Up!The punched flowers are stamped in Melon Mambo onto Very Vanilla card stock, and punched out with the coordinating Pansy Punch. I almost left it like that… but you guys know I am OBSESSED with Vellum (I’m almost out…. I have less that one sheet left! It must be time for an order!). So, I added a punched Vellum flower to each stamped one with a Glue Dot. These flowers look even more fabulous with some extra dimension, I do this my gently curling each petal with my fingers.

The flowers are finished with one of the Faceted Gems in Clear.

Perfect Floral Birthday Wedding Card for Learn to Stamp Club using Birthday Blossoms Stamp Set from Stampin' Up!

The flowers were added to the card using Fast Fuse (my favourite!) over the top of a background stamped in Powder Pink.

I would LOVE to add you to my Learn to Stamp Club… Club members will receive HEAPS of fun products, exclusive tutorials and videos over the next 6 months. You can find all my Club information under the ‘Club’ tab at the top of the page.

Before I go today… I just want to remind you that today is the LAST DAY for the Buy 3 Get 1 FREE Special on Designer Series Paper. Don’t miss out!

Inspire.Create.Challenges #002 | Happy 30th Birthday!

Inspire.create.challenges bold and bright 30th birthday card using Number of years from Stampin' Up!

Hello! It’s time for another Inspire.Create.Challenge! I know, the first one went so quickly…. hope you are going to take part this time around too! Check out the Inspire.Create.Challenges blog for a heap more inspiration with this weeks Sketch Challenge.

Inspire.Create.Challenge 002 Papercraft Sketch challenge

I love a simple sketch… and so designed this sketch to give the Design Team as much freedom as I could without presenting them with a large empty box! At the time of writing this, I haven’t seen what they have made with it, and I cannot wait to see! They are all so talented, and I know that everyone’s creations are going to be so different!

Inspire.create.challenges bold and bright 30th birthday card using Number of years from Stampin' Up!

I really wanted to create something bright! My mum always complains my cards are muted colours… so I might make another version of this one for her birthday coming up! The stamp set at work here is Number of Years, along with the coordinating Large Numbers framelits.

The panel is in Crumb Cake, stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The numbers are the same, but stamped onto Melon Mambo card stock instead.

Inspire.create.challenges bold and bright 30th birthday card using Number of years from Stampin' Up!

The sentiment is then stamped in Lemon Lime Twist and heat embossed in clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder. This quick and easy technique creates coloured embossing in any colour! There are two ways to do this:

  1. Ink your stamp in Versamark and then the colour… then add your Embossing Powder
  2. Ink you stamp in your coloured ink and then quickly add your Embossing Powder (this works well on Vellum as inks take a while longer to dry rather than card stock!)

Here the sentiment is heat embossed on Vellum, and stapled to a scrap of Whisper White (anyone else LOVE staples, or is it just me?!).

Nautical Guy Greetings Birthday Card

Guy Greetings Birthday Card using Wood Textures from Stampin' Up!

Guy cards are always a bit of a challenge… and they are even worse when you make a card and get told ‘its not manly enough’. I shared the card I originally made on Saturday… but this is the card that was eventually given to one of my Brother’s in law for his birthday last week!

Nautical Male Birthday card using Guy Greetings from Stampin' Up!

This is a bit of a CASE (copy and selectively edit) of THIS card by Teri Pocock. After I was left without a card, I turned to Pinterest for some inspiration and came across Teri’s card. I love the circle element with the anchor… and the wood! So, Teri used the Hardwood background stamp… but somehow that hasn’t found it’s way into my crafty stash, so I went hunting for a wood alternative and remembered about the lovely Wood Textured Designer Series Paper.

This paper stack is one of the 6 x 6″ ones, and you get loads of different wood effects in the pack. I am going to NEED another stack soon I just know it! So pretty!

Guy Greetings Birthday Card using Wood Textures from Stampin' Up!

The anchor is stamped in Dapper Denim on Watercolour paper, and I then took an almost dry Aquapainter and pulled out some of the colour to give this watercoloured effect. I love doing this with Stampin’ Up! inks… because they are water based they react well with water and allow you to stamp and colour without having to get ink everywhere!

The watercolour paper is cut out with a Stitched Circle, and matted onto a coordinating Dapper Denim circle cut with the Layering Circles dies.

Guy Greetings Nautical Birthday card using Stampin' Up! productsSeeing as it was a special occasion I stamped the anchor on the inside… and on the envelope too!

What’s your go to for making Manly guys cards?

Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge | Bold Happy Birthday

Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge Birthday Card using Happy Birthday thinlit from Stampin' Up!

Stampin' Up! Sketch Challenge

Hello! Welcome to the Simply Sketched Blog Hop for September! This month we have been creating with a fabulous sketch from Dee

Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge Birthday Card using Happy Birthday thinlit from Stampin' Up!

This card was really quick and simple to put together… once I had die cut all the pieces! I am loving the Happy Birthday thinlit for a quick and easy Birthday card at the moment. Here I cut it 4 times… 3 times in Crushed Curry and once from the gorgeous Champagne Foil. The secret is backing each piece of card stock with Multipurpose Adhesive Sheet before you die cut it… this way when you die cut this intricate die, each die cut has adhesive already on the back… basically making your own die cut sticker! This die is really easy to get lined up so stacking them is quick and painless too.

Measurements:

Card Base – Dapper Denim – 21 x 14.85 cm, scored on the long side at 10.5 cm

Whisper White Mat – 10 x 14.3 cm

Eastern Palace Designer Series Paper – 9.5 x 13.8 cm

Whisper White Mat – 10 x 8 cm

Eastern Palace Designer Series Paper – 9.5 x 7.5 cm

I made this card for one of my brother-in-law’s birthday’s which was last week…. but James said it was girly…. so I had to make another! So, this card has no home…. if you would like me to send it to you, comment below with your current favourite adhesive and I will do a draw on Wednesday (4th October!)
