Inspire.Create.Challenge | This Little Piggy

Cute and Girly Birthday Card using This Little Piggy from Stampin Up!

StampinByHannah Inspire.Create.Challenge This Little Piggy

Oh my goodness, I was writing the challenge blog blog post for this weeks Inspire.Create.Challenges challenge, and released that I had completely forgotten to write my own! These posts seem to be coming around awfully quickly at the moment… where are the weeks going?!

Inspire.Create.Challenges Stampin' Up! Challenges Theme

This weeks challenge is a theme… and I am so excited to see what you guys make with this one! I stood in front of my stamp shelves for ages debating over butterflies, when I remembered that I needed a birthday card for one of my crafty besties… and the This Little Piggy stamp set jumped out at me.

How to make a cute birthday card using This Little Piggy from Stampin' Up!

I had so much fun making this one! I’ve been really enjoying using layers on my cards recently, and this card totally plays into that with embossing, a doily, stamping, vellum and bakers twine!

This piggy is stamped in Powder Pink onto a piece of Whisper White card stock, which I then die cut with the Layering Circles Framelits and layered into onto the coordinating scalloped circle cut from Powder Pink card stock.

Cute birthday card using This Little Piggy from Stampin' Up!

The other thing I have been doing quite a bit recently is using my Stampin’ Blends to colour Delicate White Doilies… I took a Pink Piroutte Blend to this one for a subtle off-white colour.

This card is finished with a Everyday label punched from Vellum, a double bow of White Bakers Twine and a trio of Glitter Enamel dots… oh and a splatter of Sahara Sand ink too

Truly Tailored Birthday Card

Masculine Birthday Card using Truly Tailored from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah Truly Tailored Birthday Card

I have blogged so many Birthday cards recently… and I hope that you don’t mind me sharing a couple more because I have two this week! This card I made for my father in law’s birthday at the end of January, with the Truly Tailored suite from this years Spring Summer catalogue. I have now lost count of the number of cards I have made with this particular piece of Designer Series paper (I shared another card with it on Saturday!)

How to make a masculine birthday card using Truly Tailored from Stampin' Up!

I have been having fun with card stock layers recently, and this card is no exception. The card base is Night of Navy, with a layer of Crushed Curry and then the True Gentleman Designer Series Paper. The Vellum square was added at the last minute to help the sentiment piece stand out as it was in great danger of getting lost against that busy paper!

The sentiment is modified a little… the stamp actually reads “Wishing you a Dapper Day” but I selectively inked with Stampin’ Write Markers in Night of Navy and Tranquil Tide and left off the word Day so that I could replace it with that fabulously glitter-y Birthday die cut!

Masculine Birthday Card using Truly Tailored from Stampin' Up!

The die cut is from the Happy Birthday Thinlit die from the Annual Catalogue, and it layered onto a pair of circles die cut using the Layering Circles dies.

Watercolour Petal Palette Birthday Card

Pretty watercoloured birthday card using Petal Palette from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah Watercolour Petal Palette Birthday Card

February is such a busy month for birthdays… in fact I have a birthday card every Tuesday from now probably until the middle of March! This weeks card is one I sent to James’ great Nanny in the middle of January for her 97th birthday. Nanny is such a big part of our family, and she has been unwell recently, so a super special card was in order. I know that she LOVED it… and kept pointing it out to people (Note to self; put my contact details on the next one!)

How to make a classy watercolour birthday card using Petal Palette from Stampin' Up!

I shared part of this card over on my Instagram when I made it. I quite often share my creative process on my Insta-account, and you can find a heap of colour combinations on there too!

The flowers from Petal Palette are stamped in Sahara Sand ink onto Sahara Sand card stock for a tone on tone effect. Then I used the Rich Razzleberry and Sweet Sugarplum to colour the flowers, and Bermuda Bay and Emerald Envy for the leaves. This flower would look AMAZING using a no-line colouring technique… think I might have to have another go with that!

Quick and fun watercolour birthday card using Petal Palette from Stampin' Up!

The sentiment is taken from Birthday Blossoms, and is just a classic and simple birthday, stamped in Early Espresso and die cut with the dies that coordinate with Petal Palette.

This card is finished with a die cut branch, some Emerald Envy Splatter and Paper Pierced detailing around the edge.

Petal Palette Birthday Card

How to create a fabulous floral Birthday card using Petal Palette from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah Petal Palette Birthday Card

January is a busy Birthday month in my family, with mine at the start of the month and then James’ dad and great Nannie, as well as my Aunt… I feel like all I have made recently are Birthday cards! Today’s card is one I made for my Aunt, my mum’s sister. I wanted something a bit special, but that would go nicely through the post as she lives in London, as we don’t get to see her as often as we would like to.

How to create a fabulous floral Birthday card using Petal Palette from Stampin' Up!

My crafty mojo hasn’t been it’s usual self this month either (LOTS going on around here… and it’s knocked me a bit), so I turned to the Global Design Project for inspiration. Which is where I spotted THIS fabulous card by Cathy Collins, and I knew I just HAD to CASe it! Cathy uses Stampin’ Blends to colour her card, but as I only have a limited collection of Blends at the moment I reached for my Stampin’ Write Markers instead.

I stamped several of the floral images from Petal Palette using Basic Black Archival Ink and then used Stampin’ Write Markers to add colour. I love the slightly messy look of this style of colouring, where you just leave a hint of colour and a bit of white space. Two of the images from this stamp set coordinate with dies in the coordinating Petals and More Thinlits pack (which is also available bundled with the stamp set to save you 10%!).

I am LOVING my markers at the moment and have a fabulous Stampin’ Write Marker Club too. The club allows you to collect all 38 markers over the next 4 months along with a handy case to store them in too! You can join in HERE!

Bright and fun Floral Birthday card with Petal Palette from Stampin' Up!

The card is finished with a sentiment taken from Happy Birthday Gorgeous heat embossed in White, a great big bow of linen thread and a trio of Gold Facet gems.

Birthday Card Week | Number of Years Birthday Card

How to make a fun 40th Birthday card using Number of Years from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah Birthday Card Week Number of Years Birthday Card

StampinByHannah Independent Stampin' Up! UK Demonstrator Birthday Card week

Yes, today we continue Birthday Card Week! I know that you make more Birthday Cards than anything else and I get more requests from family and friends to make Birthday cards than any other card. So today I have a fun Birthday Card with a bit of a wow factor…

Fun and modern handmade 40th Birthday card using Number of Years from Stampin' Up!

I’m such a sucker from a great colour combination, and I REALLY love this one! Tranquil Tide, Lemon Lime Twist and Melon Mambo.

There are a number of layers on this card… (I would apologise, but I am having heaps of fun with lots of elements at the moment!)

  • Background embossed with the New Simple Stripes Embossing Folder
  • Vellum leaves from the Leaf Punch
  • Lemon Lime Twist square die cut using the Stitched Shapes Framelits
  • Melon Mambo banner (die cut using the Large Numbers dies)
  • Numbers stamped in Melon Mambo and die cut using the coordinating dies
  • Heat Embossed sentiments
  • Hearts & Stars Elements

Tranquil Tide 40th Birthday Card using Number of Years from Stampin' Up!

The Hearts & Stars Elements are so pretty. The top star is adhered with Multipurpose Liquid Glue, while the lower one is not actually stuck at all, but rather trapped as the dimensional holding the sentiment in place is actually in the centre of it.

What type of card do you  make most of?

Birthday Card Week | True Gentleman

Birthday Card Week Quick and Easy Guys Birthday Card using True Gentleman from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah Birthday Card Week True Gentleman

StampinByHannah Independent Stampin' Up! UK Demonstrator Birthday Card week

Before I get into the blog post for today… I just want to let you know that today is my January Facebook Live Online Card Class! Check out my Facebook page at 2PM!

Last Friday was my birthday… but one day isn’t long enough to celebrate is it?! So, this week I have a WHOLE WEEK of fabulous birthday inspiration for you!

Today’s card is one I made for one of my Father-in-law’s birthday’s before Christmas. As a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator I get to pre-order new products the month before catalogue launches, and I took full advantage of that to make this card!

Birthday Card Week Quick and Easy Guys Birthday Card using True Gentleman from Stampin' Up!

One of the many things that drew me to this particular suite in the new Spring Summer catalogue is the colour combination in this Designer Series Paper; Chocolate Chip, Crumb Cake, Crushed Curry, Night of Navy, Tranquil Tide and Very Vanilla. You guys know how much I love a good colour combination, and I LOVE this one! I have to say though that when I first read ‘Crushed Curry’ in the catalogue, it did think that someone had made a mistake, but no, there is a hint of Yellow in these papers and it really makes thinks Pop!

Birthday Card Week Quick and Easy Guys Birthday Card using True Gentleman from Stampin' Up!

Carrying on with the hint of Yellow theme, I added my own to this card. I mentioned a few weeks ago that sometimes I want a hint of colour behind a die cut, and that layering another die cut is sometimes too much… well, I pulled out this technique again here. Once I had the circle stamped and die cut, I ran the circle through my Crushed Curry ink pad to add a hint of colour.

Thanks for checking out StampinByHannah today… please consider signing up for my emails for twice weekly inspiration, and I’ll see you again soon!

12 Days of Giftaways (Day 11) | Brusho!

Techniques Video Tutorial How to get started with Brusho from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah 12 Days of Giftaways (Day 11) Brusho!

Stamping Techniques Series

It’s FRIDAY! actually… it’s more than just Friday today, today is my 30th Birthday. I am super excited to be sharing my 30th Birthday year with Stampin’ Up! and have some celebratory plans coming later in the year. Today I’m planning on taking the day as a ‘Me Day’ although I am sure that James has some other plans!

Techniques series Fun Birthday Card using Brusho and Beautiful Day from Stampin' Up!

Today’s video is a little different, in that I don’t have an actual project to make with you, but I wanted you to see how easy it is to get started with Brusho!

I do have a couple of top tips:

  • Clear your work area … Brusho can get a little messy, particularly if you are using it with a Stampin’ Spritzer, so tidy up anything precious before you start
  • If you don’t like messy fingers I would suggest grabbing some disposable gloves!
  • Time… it’s likely to run away with you once you get started, so make sure you’ve got an afternoon free to play!

Every month I share an Online Card class Live on Facebook. My next class is at 2PM (GMT) on the 9th January, and we are going to play with the Beautiful Day stamp set as well as Brusho a little more! Do pop over and Like my Facebook Page for reminders of when I am going Live as well as a heap of extra inspiration and Stampin’ News too…

12 Days of Giftaways (Day 7) | Make It Monday with Picture Perfect Birthday

Make It Monday Video Tutorial How to use a cardmaking sketch with Picture Perfect Birthday from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah 12 Days of Giftaways (Day 7) Make It Monday with Picture Perfect Birthday

Make It Monday

Hello! Happy New Year!

It is Day 7 of my 12 Days of Giftaways today, you can find all the details at the end of this blog post. However, it is also Monday… which of course means it is time for a Make It Monday video tutorial!

I have a special video for you today… after my blog post last Wednesday for Inspire.Create.Challenges. I had already made two cards with the current sketch challenge, and I shared my tips for using a sketch last week, but I wanted to share my process with you too.

Make It Monday Inspire.Create.Challenges Sketch Challenge using Coffee Cafe from Stampin' Up!

This card was the first card I made with THIS sketch… and although I like it, the card I shared with the Inspire.Create.Challenges Design Team is my favourite of the bunch! This is also the first card I have made with the Coffee Cafe Stamp set and coordinating Coffee Cups framelits.

When I first saw / Designed the sketch I saw Embossing paste in the top horizontal piece. Embossing Paste is a great way of adding that little something extra to your cards, a bit of extra dimension and some texture. I coloured it here using a drop of Crumb Cake reinker, for a tone on tone effect, but you can leave it white for something a little bolder.

Cute Friendship Coffee card using Coffee Cafe from Stampin' Up!

The white splatter on this card was created by mixing a drop of Whisper White Craft Ink Re-inker with water on an Aqua-painter, then banging the painter off a pen to create splatter… I LOVE doing this but it does make a bit of a mess. I made some Christmas tags at the last minute last week and did the same thing… and managed to cover my desk, tool caddy, phone and myself in White splatter!

Ok, so the card I made on the video uses the Picture Perfect Birthday Stamp Set and coordinating Designer Series Paper. This stamp set features in my 2018 Birthday Card Club … Club sign ups are closing really soon (7th January!) so sign up this week to grab your place!

Make It Monday Video Tutorial How to use a cardmaking sketch with Picture Perfect Birthday from Stampin' Up!

I kept this simpler for this card, letting that Designer Series Paper do all the talking! The Picture Perfect Party Designer Series Paper features some fabulous photo-real birthday images as well as some really fun generic patterns in fun colour combinations!

12 Days of Giftaways…

12 Days of Giftaways (Day 5) | Beautiful Day with Blends

Beautiful Day Birthday Card using Stampin' Blends from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah 12 Days of Giftaways (Day 5) Beautiful Day with Blends

What’s this… blog posts on a weekend?! Yes, your eyes are not deceiving you… I am blogging today and tomorrow, because I have some fabulous sneaky peaks from the Spring Summer Catalogue PLUS my Giftaway going on
StampinByHannah shares a fun Butterfly Birthday Card using the Beautiful Day Stamps from Stampin' Up!

How fun is this card?! It uses the lovely new Beautiful Day stamp set from the Spring Summer catalogue. This stamp set is designed to be used with a fun new (to Stampin’ Up!) product called Brusho. Brusho is a fun watercolour type colouring medium, that I need to have a bit more of a play with before I share my creations… but I will share the Stampin’ Up! video on my Facebook page this coming week. They look AWESOME!

But, I thought that although this stamp set is designed for watercolour, really it’s designed for colouring, and what other fun colouring mediums do we have in the Stampin’ Up! inventory… Blends! Stampin’ Blends Alcohol Markers launched back in October, and people have gone NUTS for them! They are a fabulous introduction to colouring, with perfect blending and colours that coordinate with the inks, card stock and Designer Series Papers that you already own! How cool is that?!

The butterfly is coloured with just 4 markers; the Night of Navy Duo and the Pool Party Duo. Blends are sold either in pairs or individually, although you’ll want to buy them in pairs to get that perfect Blend!

Cute Butterfly Birthday Card using Beautiful Day from Stampin' Up!

The sentiment is also taken from the Beautiful Day stamp set, and is stamped in Berry Burst onto a banner of Whisper White. I played around for ages trying to decide on how to attach it to my card, before I feel for staples (I love staples… actually, I love office supplies, but I’ll not scare you with my geeky stationary obsession today!)

Are you ready for 12 Days of Giftaways Day 5?! As my Christmas gift to you I have a special gift for each person who shops over £45 for the next 12 days. Each day has a different gift, and you don’t need to worry about adding the Code Club Code (although please do to receive your December Card Kit!).
