Party time!

I thought I had already shared this card, I can’t believe its been sat, neglected on my computer for weeks!

About a month ago, Stampin’ Up! challenged me to book two parties as part of Sale-a-bration. Well, Sale-a-bration is now over, but I did have two parties in March, and this the card we made.

Stampin' Up! UK Party make and take

One of my parties had never stamped before, and this card was perfect. I love a simple card, but this one has a little bit of wow with the stamped and punch flower. I even shared my secret for straight stamping: lie your stamp rubber side down on your grid paper, ensuring that the straight edge of the stamp is in line with one of the lines – position your clear block over the top, lining the bottom edge up with one of the grid lines, and push onto the stamp. Now, when you line the bottom edge of you block up with the bottom edge of your paper, your stamp is straight!

Ombre Background Stamping

Ok, so while I work out exactly what is happening on a Friday, I thought I would share some techniques with you. Like I said last week, Fancy Fold Friday is having a little break (but if you have any fancy fold suggestions please do feel free to let me know!) and so Friday’s are a little different, But I still want to get 2 videos out to you every week, and this is what I have so far!

Stampin' Up! UK Ombre stamping video tutorial

It was my anniversary recently, and this was the card I made my darling other half, James. He is totally used to receiving pink cards by now, and really doesn’t mind. But I just loved this technique and HAD to share it with you.

I think this background stamping technique is great. and really versitile too – might have a play at using some of my other background stamps too!

First Ink your stamp with a pale ink, I used Pink Pirouette, before inking a corner with the darker colour (Melon Mambo in my pink example!). Then take a mircofibre cloth – a crafty must have! – dab away the mark between the two colours, blending them on the stamp. Take your Whisper White cardstock and lay it over the inked stamp, apply pressure across the piece, and carefully lift away to reveal the gorgeous Ombre effect!

Die Cut Birthday

Last week was James’ birthday. Guys birthday cards are always tricky, I try and keep things simple (and stay away from Pink!)

Stampin' Up! Uk mens birthday crazy about you

I love this card! It uses the Perpetual Birthday Calender Stamp set, stamped in Hello Honey, along with the ‘Birthday’ stamp from Crazy About You stamped in Lost Lagoon.

Crazy About You is available in a bundle with the Hello You thinlits dies – a collection of 4 word dies – Happy, Hello, Thanks and You – I’m finding myself reaching for these stamps and dies over and over again. I had a stall at a craft fair last weekend, and so many people made comment about these dies – ‘Wow, how did you do that?’ ‘Did you cut that yourself’ – Of course, I told the truth, I could NEVER hope to cut anything and it look this good!

Watercolouring With Stampin’ Up! inks

So, as promised my video tutorial of the technique I showed on Saturday.

Stampin' Up! UK Easter Indescribable Gift Fantasy Stampers Challenge Watercolour

There are two ways to do this technique – I prefer to watercolour with a paint brush and water, but you could just as easily use Aqua Painters (they just haven’t landed in my shopping basket yet!).

Stamp your chosen image onto Watercolour paper with a versamark ink pad, and heat emboss with white or clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder.

To watercolour with Stampin’ Up! ink pads, apply the ink to an acrylic block, or, I have a glass top to my desk, so I use that – by pressing the ink pad directly onto the surface. Add a little water, and use this mixture to colour the image.

Here I have used a combination of Pink Pirouette, Blushing Bride, Pear Pizzazz, and Sahara Sand to watercolour the Indescribable Gift stamp.

Blackberry Birthdays

Hello!

I’m so glad you’ve joined me this week on StampinByHannah! I’m starting to mix things up a little around here. I’ve got a video tutorial for tomorrow, but Fancy Fold Friday is taking a little break. I’m still working out what is going to take its place though, any suggestions of anything you would like to see message me!
Stampin' Up! UK Something Lacy Birthday card

I made this birthday card for James’ best friend, Sophie a few weeks ago. The Something Lacy background stamp is stamped in Blackberry Bliss onto Sahara Sand card stock. I love the sketchy effect created here, although I will have to admit I’m not totally sure how it happened – another one of those fabulous crafty accidents!

The ‘Happy Birthday’ is taken from Butterfly Basics, and is heat embossed in Gold onto Vellum. Adhered with a careful application of Tombo glue 🙂

Stampin' Up! UK Easter Indescribable Gift Fantasy Stampers Challenge

To create this watercolour card I stamped the image onto Stampin’ Up! Watercolour Paper in Versamark ink, and Heat Embossed it with clear Embossing powder. Then I used my inks and a paint brush to watercolour the image. I have a video tutorial for this technique coming this week, so please check back.

The colours I have used are Pink Pirouette, Blushing Bride, Pear Pizzazz, and Sahara Sand.

I posted this card a few weeks ago as part of my Sale-a-bration celebration week, and when I shared it across several Facebook groups, I had several requests for a tutorial. So here we are!

Stampin' Up! UK Big Day sale-a-bration BokehThis is the original card, using Elegant Eggplant, Perfect Plum and Pink Pirouette. I have loved using this Sale-a-bration stamp set – Big Day, its come in really handy for men’s birthday cards and other awkward folk!

Stampin' Up! UK Bokeh Hello DarlingI have recreated the card using a stamp set from the annual catalogue – Hello Darling. I love the floral images in this set. You could use the tag for the sentiment, but I decided to leave this one plain, I can attach a sentiment later when I decide who it is destined for.

A few tips:

  • bright colours work better
  • try different shapes – heart Bokeh is really pretty.
  • leave you Bokeh piece to dry completely before assembling your card

A Perfect Day …..

A couple of weekends ago we attended the wedding of a close friend, and you know what weddings mean, wedding cards!

Stampin' Up! UK Wedding Card Your Perfect DayWe had the most fabulous day at a castle in County Durham, not too far from where we live, and partied into the night. I have to say I was  little worse for wear the next day exhibiting at a craft fair! Things are really crazy busy around here at the moment, with planning and preparing for our own wedding, making wedding invitations for other people, my full time day job, and running my Stampin’ Up! business! James started at university last week, so I have plenty of time when he’s working or studying.

Anyway, that’s enough of my ramble; The card uses the Your Perfect Day stamp set. and Brushed Gold Card stock.

The sentiment is embossed onto vellum. I applied a little Tombow glue to the embossed area to attach it to the card, it worked well actually and even after a couple of days I still couldn’t see it. Behind the vellum the image is stamped in Sahara Sand (stamped off once) with So Saffron Flowers.

I also stamped the inside! something I don’t do nearly often enough!
