Global Design Project #070 | Falling for you…. and a ladybird!

Global Design Project Celebration card using Falling in Love with Lots of Love from Stampin' Up! UK

Oh yes, I’m back working with a Global Design Project sketch again this week. I am planning for this to be my weekly Tuesday blog post, however last week was crazy from the second I opened my eyes on Monday morning, and the crazy didn’t end until Sunday night…. I’m hoping for calm this week (but something tells me everything is about to go pear shaped again!)

Global Design Project Stampin' Up! Cardmaking challenge

I love the simplicity of this sketch, and I did have a plan to keep things really simple…. but then I spotted the couple of ladybirds on my stamp shelves and things went a little differently!

Global Design Project Celebration card using Falling in Love with Lots of Love from Stampin' Up! UK

But aren’t they just so cute! I knew I wanted to use Designer Series Paper for the banner across the card, and I haven’t been able to put this pack of DSP away recently – its the brand new Sending Love Designer Series Paper stack that features loads of lovely patterns, one side of the paper is love / Valentines themed while the other is great polka dots and other more neutral patterns, but all in Real Red and Whisper White.

Sketch Challenge Celebration card with Ladybirds from Lots of Love and Falling in Love from Stampin' Up! UK

Those cute Ladybirds are from the Love You Lots, this fabulous stamp set is available with Stampin’ Rewards… and seeing as you have even more Stampin’ Rewards during Sale-a-bration this would be the perfect time to get your hands on it!

Thanks for checking out my blog today, and I hope to see you again soon

Question of the Day: What are you doing today?

I’m off to the day job today, a lovely 9-5 day…. although I’m then off to the gym for the first time in, well lets just call it slightly too long! Wish me luck!

Beautiful You | Wishing You Brighter Days to Come

Watercolour Sympathy Card Thinking of you using Beautiful You from Stampin' Up! UK

One of the things that made me shriek with excitement in the new Spring Summer catalogue is the fabulous Watercolour Pencils! I’m sure you all know by now how much I LOVE to watercolour, actually colouring in in general in my jam, but watercolour is my absolute favourite! The first thing that went into my shopping basket when I put my order in last month was for these great pencils, and I was not disappointed, they are awesome!

Watercolour Pencils and Beautiful you from Stampin' Up! UK

The pencils come in a pack of 13 great Stampin’ Up! colours, allowing for full coordination with all the other great products; inks, card stock and embellishments already available. I have everything crossed for some more colours to be added in June for the next Annual catalogue too! They are super easy to colour with, the pretty lady image on this card (from Beautiful You) is coloured with the watercolour pencils, Stampin’ Up! have made a great video to show us how they work…

Once I had coloured the image with my new set of Watercolour Pencils, I needed to find a suitably pretty background, and so grabbed for the Irresistibly Floral Speciality Designer Series Paper and a sponge roller. This paper comes as white sheets, but it has patterns already heat embossed onto it, all you have to do is add an ink colour of your choice and reveal the pattern. This paper works with a heap of colouring techniques, and I am sure I could have Watercoloured it, but the Sponge Rollers had just arrived in my crafty office, and I had to have a go. They are super easy actually, I think they will turn up in a video sooner rather than later!

Watercolour Sympathy Card Thinking of you using Beautiful You from Stampin' Up! UK

I finished this card with some matts of Basic Grey and a bow in Bermuda Bay Thick Bakers Twine.

Do you love this card as much as I do? Yes, you should totally check out my Beautiful You Online Card Class! you can find out more about it all HERE!

Global Design Project 068 | Nailed It!

Mans Card using Nailed It by Stampin' Up! UK for the Global Design Project 068

Well Hello there! It has been so long since I took part in the Global Design Project. I LOVE doing this challenge every week, but the back end of last year was so crazy I haven’t had chance to join in for ages! However, that is going to change, one of my many New Years Resolutions this year is to take part in the GDP each week (made much easier by the fact that I don’t often have to work a Monday!)

gdp068_jess_williams

This weeks challenge is to CASE the designer. I love this card by Jess Williams, and chose to use both the layout and the colour combination for my card.

Mans Card using Nailed It by Stampin' Up! UK for the Global Design Project 068

I chose to use the awesome new stamp set, Nailed It, for this card. Guy cards are always tricky, but there are some really great options for guys in the new Spring Summer catalogue (which launches tomorrow!! So excited!). The hammers are both coloured using the great new Watercolour Pencils, LOVE them! I have been trying them out on a heap of different types of card stock and so far haven’t come across one that they don’t work on!

Global Design Project Guys Card using Nailed It from Stampin' Up! UK

I have to say too I had such a drama getting this post up today. I got called into work on Sunday night to cover the night shift and so making this card was an interestingly sleepy experience yesterday afternoon, but then to make it even worse when I went to photograph it I discovered that my lighting set up has totally died! I have to use artificial lights to photograph my projects at this time of year, and so once I have finished writing up this post I’m off to find another lamp holder for my photography light bulb! I have to thank my lovely husband who stood holding my lights to allow me to take the photos for today’s post, and I really hope that I don’t have to call on his lamp holding services again too soon!

Thanks so much for checking out my little blog today, and I hope that you check back tomorrow for the launch of the Spring Summer catalogue and the start of Sale-a-bration!

Welcome to Make It Monday! I have to confess, this is the last Make It Monday of 2016! as Christmas approaches I have something super special coming next week!

Make It Monday Watercolour Christmas Card using Happy Ornament from Stampin' Up!

I’ve been loving making Christmas Cards with this stamp this year, Happy Ornament is a single wood mounted stamp and its a great price too. It is only available while stocks last however as it retires on the 3rd January 2017.

How fabulous is that colour combination?! Sweet Sugarplum, Crushed Curry and Rose Red, Not traditionally Christmas-y but I’m quite enjoying a non-traditional colour kick at the moment. We put our Christmas tree up yesterday, and my colour combination this year is purples and silvers, very pretty

Check out the video for all my watercolouring tips for this one; I will say that it was super easy to colour. The video is 8 minutes long and its all in real time, so I’m sure you could whip up a batch of these in no time!

Gifts of Love | Sympathy Card

Sympathy card watercoloured gifts of love card using Stampin' Up! UK products

A few weeks ago I shared my Quick and Easy Sympathy card that I like to keep on hand, but sometimes you need an extra special card to sent to someone in their worst moments.

Sympathy card using gifts of love hostess stamp set from Stampin' Up! UK

The Gifts of love stamp set is just so pretty, and its lovely watercoloured. The sentiment is from the Rose Wonder stamp set, and is stamped in Garden Green and heat embossed in clear. This is one of my favourite ways to use Vellum, because Stampin’ Up! ink drys more slowly on Vellum that it does on card stock you can add clear embossing powder to create coloured heat embossing.

Gifts of Love is one of the current hostess stamp sets; these sets are exclusively available for purchase with your Stampin’ Rewards. Stampin’ Rewards are awarded to party hostesses or individuals posting orders of over £150, and must be redeemed in the order in which they are earned. You can find all the current hostess sets HERE.

Sympathy card watercoloured gifts of love card using Stampin' Up! UK products

The background Designer Series Paper is from the Fancy Frost Speciality Designer Series Paper pack. This paper comes as white sheets, each one with a different texture, I watercoloured it here in Pool Party to match the card base and watercolour around the flowers.

Question of the day: What type of cards do you make most? Me, I make more Thank you cards than any other kinda, although I’m sure that balance has tipped over to Christmas cards at the moment!

Pootlers Design Team | May the Adventures continue

Pootlers Design Team Pootles Papercraft card using Glamper Greetings from Stampin' Up! UK

Pootles Papercraft Design Team November 2016

Wow, What a month it has been, I cant believe my final post for the Pootler’s Design Team has come around already! I have had so much fun working with this stamp set, although this final card was kind of a last minute affair, I had heaps of fun making it!

Watercoloured Adventure card using Glamper Greetings from Stampin' Up! UK for the Pootles Papercraft Design Team

If you’re a regular here at StampinByHannah, you will know how much I love to watercolour, and usually I make a giant mess, but not this time! One of our team mottos (yes, I think it has reached that stage now, anyone from the team reading this) is “Don’t Put It Down, Put It Away”, and the whole way through making this card all I could hear was Sam saying it! Each part of the card was watercoloured, the ink pad was put away, the aqua-painter was cleaned, and I started a fresh! What a difference, I made several projects this morning, and usually my Crafty Office would look like a bomb had gone off, but not today, it’s still nice and tidy!

Pootlers Design Team Pootles Papercraft card using Glamper Greetings from Stampin' Up! UK

Although I do love the Glamper coloured in Bermuda Bay and Delightful Dijon, I do think that the background of this card is my favourite bit. I had sort of overlooked the Fancy Frost Speciality Designer Series Paper, but I received a sample pack a couple of months ago at an event, and totally fell in love with it! At first glance its just white card stock, but on closer inspection it’s actually embossed with some really cool patterns. I have coloured it a shade of Bermuda Bay here using ink and an aqua-painter, it colours wonderfully, but I would say that you do need more water than you would on a flat cardstock to get a smooth watercolour wash effect.

I have a whole week of Glamper cards here on my blog this week, including a great card tomorrow for my Christmas Countdown video series, see you again tomorrow!

Question of the day: What is your favourite Christmas Craft? I love making home decor pieces, and crocheting Christmas presents, oh and making Gingerbread, and Christmas cards, and Scrapbooking the big day afterwards, oh who am I kidding, I love the whole lot!

Glamper Greetings | Watercolour Home Decor!

Glamper Greetings Watercolour Home Decor using Stampin' Up! Products

Pootles Papercraft Design Team November 2016

Welcome to Week 2 of the Pootler’s Design Team; every Thursday this month I have been tasked with sharing a project using the Glamper Greetings Stamp set from the Autumn Winter catalogue by my lovely friend and team leader Sam (aka: Pootles!). There are 5 of us taking the challenge this month, and you can pop over to Sam’s blog today to see the other projects.

Glamper Greetings Watercolour Home Decor using Stampin' Up! Products

I had SO much fun making my project this week. It’s actually a Christmas gift for a very special person in my life, but I’m almost certain she will never see this to I’m pretty safe to share it here, and Pinterest, Facebook and everywhere else!

Regular visitors to my blog will know that I’m a bit of watercolour junkie, I just love it, and when this stamp set arrived I saw this project instantly, I just couldn’t miss the opportunity to watercolour this fab camper! The Camper is watercoloured in Tempting Turquoise, Sahara Sand and Pumpkin Pie, with Smoky Slate accents.

Home Is Where You Park It Pootlers Design Team Watercolour Home Decor using Glamper Greetings From Stampin' Up! UK

One of the many great things about Stampin’ Up! inks is that they are water-based, which means that you can do heaps of techniques with them, including watercolouring. My top tip for watercolouring Stamped imaged is getting the right ink to stamp in in the first place. I use Stampin’ Up! Archival Basic Black, but you could also use Staz-on, these inks are solvent based and so don’t run with the water, so you can watercolour to your hearts content without worrying about muddy images. My other must have for watercolouring is Stampin’ Up! Watercolour Paper, oh and an Aqua-Painter!

I stamped and watercoloured the Glamper on a separate piece of Watercolour paper and carefully fussy cut it to give a bit of dimension. I did think about doing something similar with the bunting, but that might have been a bit much!

Bunch of Blossoms Faux Watercolour Card

Watercolour Celebration card using Faux Watercolour and Bunch of Blossoms from Stampin' Up! UK

I have had this style of card in my head for weeks, but somehow getting the card out of my head and into the card stock was a bit of a struggle! I love following other Stampin’ Up! demonstrators, and find them so inspiring. This card was inspired by a couple of different demo’s, but mostly the lovely Dena from The Creativity Cave and the fabulous Faux Watercolour technique!Watercolour Celebration card using Faux Watercolour and Bunch of Blossoms from Stampin' Up! UKFor all this card looks totally different from my usual card bases, it actually comes from the same size of card stock – just scored on the short edge rather than the long one.

The key to this card really is Watercolour Paper. The Pink Pirouette layer of watercolour is put down first using an aqua-painter. I added several layers of colour, building up the intensity of the colour to the point where I was happy, and to create those pretty ‘hard edges’ I love when watercolouring.

Watercolour Bunch of Blossoms congratulations card using Stampin' Up! UK products

The leaves from the Bunch of Blossoms stamp set includes a couple of different sizes of leaves, this card uses the smaller leaf. Each leave is stamped into the Watercolour paper in Old Olive (making sure the Pink Pirouette layer is completely dry!). Before the Old Olive dries I ran an Aqua-Painter over the stamped image, this creates a Faux Watercolour, and a softer look than the original hard stamping.

I tried a couple of different ways of adding the sentiment, but settled on stamping and heat embossing with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder.

The card is finished with one of my favourite go-to finishing technique, droplets of Fine-Tip glue, so pretty!

Measurements:

Card base: 21 x 14.8 cm, scored on the short edge at 7.4 cm

Old Olive layer: 19.5 x 6 cm

Watercolour Paper: 19 x 5.5 cm

Watercolour with Jar of Love

Pinkies Team Design Challenge Colouring Watercolour with Jar of Love from Stampin' Up! UK

Hello folks! I’ve been challenged (again!) to share a card using colouring today. One of my team leaders, the gorgeous Michelle Last, sets us a challenge every other month, and you know what I’m like, I cannot pass on either an opportunity to colour or to take part in a challenge!

Pinkies Team Design Challenge Colouring Watercolour with Jar of Love from Stampin' Up! UK

So, we were challenge to create a card using a colouring, and I ALMOST selected an image I could colour… but then I had a think and decided that I would ‘colour’ a background.

The card base is Bermuda Bay, with a layer of Basic Grey, and finally a layer of Shimmery White Card stock. Now, I LOVE to watercolour on my cards, but watercolour paper is kinda pricey, well Shimmery White is a great alternative, it watercolours great, it’s smooth, and it’s a bit cheaper too! So, I grabbed my Aqua Painters and some Bermuda Bay ink and watercoloured a background to ground my Vellum jar.

Watercolour card using Jar of Love from Stampin' Up! UK

The flowers are also stamped on Shimmery White, in Rose Red, and once I had die cut them (loving the coordinating dies that are bundled with Jar of Love!) I spritzed them with a whole heap of water and left them to sit a while – this caused the ink to bleed and run, creating a variation in colour when I dabbed the water off with a piece of kitchen towel.

I haven’t added a sentiment yet, I know, I really should, but I’m saving that part until I have a suitable recipient!
