Card Making Techniques Video Tutorial how to layer die cuts using Celebrate You from Stampin' Up! Sale-a-bration

StampinByHannah Techniques How to create a dimensional sentiment with Celebrate You from Stampin’ Up!

Stamping Techniques Series

I have a quick and fun Techniques video for you today. I am just LOVING the Celebrate You thinlits that are currently available for FREE during Sale-a-bration. Actually, before I forget Stampin’ Up! added some extra Sale-a-bration freebies this morning… you can check them out in my Online Store!

So, today’s technique… I have been  having heaps of fun stacking the die cuts from this thinlit set, and I thought I would share some of my top tips that might help you create some fabulously dimensional die cut sentiments!

Card Making Techniques Video Tutorial how to layer die cuts using Celebrate You from Stampin' Up! Sale-a-bration

This card is so cute! It’s a fun 4 x 4″ size, with a 3-3/4 x 3-3/4″ piece of Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper and a large die cut Stitched Circle in Vellum. Both the die cut and the Glitter Enamel Dot are strategically placed to cover the Mini Dimensionals I used to adhere the Vellum to the card. I LOVE adding Vellum with dimensionals, just because the Vellum is lifted slightly off the front of the card and it creates a lovely shadow effect.

Top Tips;

  • Use Multi-Purpose Adhesive Sheet on the back of your card stock before you start to die cut your sentiment
  • Die cut 3-5 pieces to give you a nice thick sentiment
  • Use your Silicone Mat to help you ensure that die cuts are lined up
  • It is easier to line up shorter words… so try a word like YOU before you head for something longer and swirly!

Card Making Techniques Video Tutorial how to layer die cuts using Celebrate You from Stampin' Up! Sale-a-bration

The ‘Thank’ is taken from one of the stamps in the All Things Thanks stamp set, and I selectively inked it with a Stampin’ Write Marker in Night of Navy to ensure that I just had the portion of the stamp I needed.

Thoughtful Thursday How to create a fun Wall Art using Petal Palette from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah Thoughtful Thursday Stampin’ Up! Petal Palette Wall Art

Stamping Techniques Series

Oh I had SO much fun making this weeks Thoughtful Thursday project! I have had this quote floating round my Pinterest for a while, and last week when it popped up again I decided that it was time to make the universe happy and do something with it!

Thoughtful Thursday Creating a piece of Wall Art using Petal Passion Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up!

I am such a sucker for a good font, and I absolutely LOVE this one! This project uses the Labeller Alphabet… this fabulous stamp set actually features two complete alphabets, the one I’ve used here that reminds me of an old fashioned type-writer, and a second one that has the letters inside squares. So this quote is hand stamped, letter by letter. Which sounds really complicated, and of course I have some fun tips and tricks…

  • Die cut first!
  • Draw a grid; grab a pencil and a ruler… you can rub it out afterwards!
  • Count out the letters and work out which words with fit on each line
  • Pull out ALL the letters you need and stick them to a large clear block, use this as your stamp ‘home’
  • Stamp the middle letter(s) of each row first

Thoughtful Thursday Mindfulness Quote Wall Art DIY

The rest of the frame came together quite quickly, with pretty Petal Passion Designer Series Paper, Emerald Envy Die Cuts from the Petals and More thinlits, and a cute bird from Petal Palette.

Before I go, I just want to remind you that my Monthly Facebook Live Online Card Class is this afternoon at 2PM… check out my Facebook Page for all the details!

Sale-a-bration Spotlight | Want more from Sale-a-bration?!

Stampin' Up! UK Sale-a-bration 2nd Release 2018

StampinByHannah Sale-a-bration Spotlight Want more from Sale-a-bration?!

Stampin' Up! Saleabration

I am LOVING Sale-a-bration… I love getting Free products and extra rewards, but I’m sure you’re like me and you have almost all of the Sale-a-bration items already?! Well, Stampin’ Up! are releasing 3 fabulous extra items on Friday! Yay!

I did a very quick Facebook Live last week sharing the fabulous new items. I had planned to share a creative project, but I got a text message from my mum halfway through my Live and I didn’t get chance to make anything. Mum’s been poorly this past fortnight, she dislocated her shoulder playing Golf a couple of weeks ago and has had surgery this week, so I STILL haven’t managed to get creative! That WILL be changing today, and I hope to share some fabulous ideas really soon.

The new items will be available for FREE when you spend £45 between Friday and then end of March, although I would note that all Sale-a-bration items are likely to be While Stocks Last very shortly… and I wouldn’t be surprised if that gorgeous foil paper sells out fairly quickly!

To get your Free gift from Stampin’ Up! all you need to do is add £45 worth of goodies to your basket, and Stampin’ Up! will prompt you to make your freebie selection before you can check out.

Watercolour Petal Palette Birthday Card

Pretty watercoloured birthday card using Petal Palette from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah Watercolour Petal Palette Birthday Card

February is such a busy month for birthdays… in fact I have a birthday card every Tuesday from now probably until the middle of March! This weeks card is one I sent to James’ great Nanny in the middle of January for her 97th birthday. Nanny is such a big part of our family, and she has been unwell recently, so a super special card was in order. I know that she LOVED it… and kept pointing it out to people (Note to self; put my contact details on the next one!)

How to make a classy watercolour birthday card using Petal Palette from Stampin' Up!

I shared part of this card over on my Instagram when I made it. I quite often share my creative process on my Insta-account, and you can find a heap of colour combinations on there too!

The flowers from Petal Palette are stamped in Sahara Sand ink onto Sahara Sand card stock for a tone on tone effect. Then I used the Rich Razzleberry and Sweet Sugarplum to colour the flowers, and Bermuda Bay and Emerald Envy for the leaves. This flower would look AMAZING using a no-line colouring technique… think I might have to have another go with that!

Quick and fun watercolour birthday card using Petal Palette from Stampin' Up!

The sentiment is taken from Birthday Blossoms, and is just a classic and simple birthday, stamped in Early Espresso and die cut with the dies that coordinate with Petal Palette.

This card is finished with a die cut branch, some Emerald Envy Splatter and Paper Pierced detailing around the edge.

Make It Monday Video Tutorial Cute Box using Coffee Break Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah Make It Monday Coffee Break Box Tutorial

Make It Monday

Hello! Happy Monday! If you are anything like me your day has to start with one thing… COFFEE! right?! Actually, if I’m working my day job, I don’t have my first coffee until about 2 hours after I get up (half 5 is just too early, even for coffee!) but if I’m having a crafty day in my home office coffee happens much earlier! Actually I currently have a bit of an obsession with my Tassimo machine, and the Costa Latte’s… although I am sure that they are doing nothing for my waistline!

Quick and fun Box tutorial using Coffee Break Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up!

Aren’t these adorable?! I am just LOVING that Designer Series Paper. So much so that it forms a large part of the cards we are making in Stamp of the Month Club this month!

How to make a fun milk carton top box using Coffee Break Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up!

I can’t decide if my favourite part of this box is the Gold Library clip, or the Corrugated oval, both are just so cute! This box would be perfect for some individual coffee sachets, or a pack of those breakfast biscuits, and I am sure you could find HEAPS of uses for it too! Let me know what you put in yours in the comments section below

Techniques | How to create a hard lines watercolour background

How to created hard lines watercolour background with Stampin' Up! inks

StampinByHannah Techniques How to create a hard lines watercolour background

Some weeks working out which technique to share can be a struggle… but not this week! I made the card in this post last week, after I spotted a card on one of the Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator Facebook groups, and just had so much fun creating the background that I knew I HAD to share it!

Pretty Wedding Card using Oh So Eclectic from Stampin' Up!

This card would be so lovely as a Wedding congratulations, or engagement card. I have used a sentiment from the Oh So Eclectic stamp set, mainly because it coordinates with the dies… but looking at it now a Congratulations sentiment would have worked better!

This is one of those cards with lots of layers… so I will give you a quick run down:

  • Watercoloured technique on Shimmery White card stock (check the video for all the details on this one!)
  • Die cut area using the Eclectic Layers dies. The whole watercoloured panel is popped up on Dimensionals, and I have added some of the die cut pieces back in (in an almost inlay die cut style) with some Gold Glimmer Paper pieces added in too
  • Two leaves punched from Champagne Foil with the Leaf Punch
  • A vellum Everyday Label (punched)
  • Flower die cut from the Eclectic Layers dies in Blushing Bride with a Clear Faceted Gem in the centre
  • Sentiment heat embossed in White, punched with the Classic Label Punch

The focus of this blog post isn’t that card though… it’s about the techniques right!

The background is created with a fun, and quick, watercolour technique that I am calling Hard Lines Watercolour (I’m sure someone else has a better name for it!). I LOVE doing this for a quick and easy background. It’s super pretty when you use a soft colour like Blushing Bride, but it can be really striking in a bolder colour too!

Fun and pretty Valentines card using Oh So Eclectic from Stampin' Up!

I think I have covered everything in the video… it’s really just about adding layers, and drying in between. Using a Heat Tool really helps as the ink drys before it has time to spread out, and therefore gives those lovely hard lines! I could totally play around with this for hours… different colours, different sized paint brushes, different amounts of water all create different effects but they are all so pretty.

The panel I created in this week’s Techniques Video has also been made into a card… and you can see that if you subscribe to my emails in my Stampin’ Inspiration Monday Video!

Thoughtful Thursday | DIY Happiness Jar

How to make a Happiness Jar using Blossom Builder Punch Stampin' Up! products

StampinByHannah Thoughtful Thursday DIY Happiness Jar

Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator StampinByHannah Thoughtful Thursday

As I explained last week one of my New Years “resolutions” (I don’t do resolutions as a rule, but with 2018 came a list of things that HAD to change), was to be more consistent in my use of Mindfulness to help lessen my Anxiety issues. I have suffered from anxiety for a long time, and I have always been adamant that it would not rule my life, however during the last few months of 2017 it became apparent that it had.

So, one of the ways I have started to wok towards dealing with it is by using a Gratitude Journal. This led me to do a pretty extensive Pinterest search for Mindfulness… Yes, I really do have a secret board full of positivity quotes! And during January I started to write a Happy thing every day.

How to make a Happiness Jar using Stampin' Up! products

So, I have made this fun Happiness Jar to keep all my Happy Things in! I have chopped a load of Colour Theory Designer Series Paper into 3 x 3″ squares to write them on, partly because I have heaps of this DSP, and partly because its so bright and colourful and that makes me Happy!

The jar itself is a Korken from Ikea… which I had intended to use for Cookie mix as part of Christmas Countdown… but I think that this idea is better!

How to make a Happiness Jar using Stampin' Up! products

The cute tag was SO much fun to make (and that makes me happy too! It’s a simple tag of Island Indigo card stock punched with the Scallop Tag Topper punch. I did add some ink to the bottom, and some stamping from Picture Perfect Birthday.

The star of this is the flower though. I don’t make these very often, because they are a bit of a faff and definitely require the use of a hot glue gun. The flower uses the Blossom Builder Punch, punched 6 times out of Berry Burst card stock. To create some extra dimension I added some ink to the ends of the petals with a Stampin’ Sponge, and crinkled each petal before sticking them together with hot glue. The tag is completed with a Clear Facet Gem (which I also added with hot glue… just to make sure it doesn’t fall off in 6 months time!)

Inspire.Create.Challenges #011 | Hedgehugs

Quick and easy Hi There card using Hedgehugs from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah Inspire.Create.Challenges #011 Hedgehugs

This weeks Inspire.Create.Challenges challenge is a fabulous sketch… I have waffled on before about how much I LOVE creating with a sketch, and I have previously shared my Sketch Top Tips with you too so this weeks card is simple and blog post short! Yes… it’s true… maybe!

Inspire.Create.Challenges Sketch Challenge 011

I have chosen to keep my card pretty simple for this challenge… and that isn’t unusual for me when I’m using a sketch. I have moved the circle a little but I have stuck fairly true to sketch this time. Life has been crazy busy recently with my day job, business, the impending end of James’ degree and all kinds of nightmares with house moving (which isn’t going well if your wondering!). So a simple card was really all I had time for!

How to make a cute card using Hedgehugs from Stampin' Up!

When I spotted the Hedgehugs stamp set in the Spring Summer catalogue I knew I HAD to have it. It’s just so cute! But I have really struggled to actually use it… So, when it came to making this card, I grabbed it as I knew that hedgehog would look super cute in a die cut circle!

Inspire.Create.Challenges 011 sketch challenge featuring Hedgehugs from Stampin' Up!

The hedgehog is stamped in Early Espresso ink, and I used Stampin’ Write Markers in Berry Burst and Powder Pink to add a little colour. I die cut him out after I stamped, and then added the sentiment after to ensure good placement.

I’ve finished this card with a strip of Wood Textures’ Designer Series Paper (I love this print, don’t you?) and a spritz of Early Espresso ink.

I would LOVE to see your creations with this sketch… why not share over at Inspire.Create.Challenges!

Sale-a-bration Spotlight | Why did I join Stampin’ Up!?

StampinByHannah Sale-a-bration Spotlight Why did I join Stampin’ Up!?

Stampin' Up! Saleabration

This weeks Sale-a-bration Spotlight post is a little different from the rest… I want to tell you a story.

I want to share part of my Stampin’ Story.

Why did I join Stampin’ Up! in the first place?

I have written before about why I continue with Stampin’ Up! and why I LOVE it so much. I adore being a part of a group of passionate crafty women, some of whom are my best friends in the world. I love being able to get a discount on crafty goodies I would have bought anyway, the ability to Pre-Order from new catalogues (I have some pre-order goodies coming this afternoon actually!), and being able to access a mountain of inspiration, including Facebook groups, the exclusive magazine, and weekly emails.

However, the reason I joined in the first place, I’m not sure I have ever shared before.

I was searching for a creative business; I had considered setting up an online shop, I had thought about making custom wedding stationary, I had thought about selling handmade cards and boxes at craft fairs. Years before I had come across the website of a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, and the idea came back to me as a way of getting quality products, cheaper. I discussed it all with James, he set about doing a heap of research, and came up with the suggestion of me joining and running a Stampin’ Up! business rather than travelling around the region for fairs.

My first email to my team leader included some very strange questions like “What do I do about Tax?!” and I think I signed up the very same day, 1st June 2014! Best. Decision. Ever!

I now have an online store, have made wedding stationary for myself as well as other people, and have done a couple of craft fairs (which I hated, and don’t plan on doing another!). But I have even more than that… I have the opportunity to earn free stamps, events and trips, I have a blog that I love, I have a wonderful team of stampers, and a growing business.

So, why am I waffling about this today?

Well, Stampin’ Up! have a fabulous joining offer during Sale-a-bration… a bumper Starter Kit that is totally customise-able by you! The perfect way to start a crafty business, get an increased mark-up on those items your already making for craft fairs, or just a fabulous discount off your crafty purchases.

The Starter Kit is just £99! I mean, lets just stop a moment, you can start your own business for £99… can you think of any other business you can start and be successful at for just £99 worth of investment?! Nope, I can’t either! So, the Starter Kit is just £99, PLUS during Sale-a-bration you can add an extra 2 stamp sets from the Annual or Spring Summer catalogue for FREE (that could be £90 if you pick the right sets!), you also get to pick £130 worth of Stampin’ goodies, and get FREE postage and packing on your kit! There are heaps of benefits of being a part of Stampin’ Up! The discount, events, magazine, inspiration, opportunities, friendships, coordinating products, pre-order periods, to name just a few

You can find out more about joining HERE, or check out my Joining FAQ’s… or if you want to join my team right now… you can click HERE!

Team Swap Cards (and a bonus video!)

How to use a blender pen with Petal Palette from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah Team Swap Cards (and a bonus video!)

Yesterday I shared the card I made for a recent Team Swap. Well today, I have the cards I received to share!

Swaps are just one fabulous part of being a part of Stampin’ Up! the team I am a part of just LOVE to swap. Swapping is traditionally part of in-person events, but as we are spread across the country, getting us all together is a challenge (and one we tend to reserve for Stampin’ Up! organised events!)… so, we do postal swaps instead. The idea is the same though, we make a batch of projects (usually cards because they are easy to post!), stick them in the mail, and get a bunch of inspiration back! I has such an exciting week last week as they all started to arrive!

We didn’t have a set theme for our swap (other than it had to use products from the Spring Summer catalogue!) but there is definitely a trend here…

This pretty card was made by Debbie Toner… this paper hasn’t found its way to my craft room yet, but it might have to now!

Pootlers Spring Summer Team Swaps using Painted with Love from Stampin' Up!

The second card was made by Vicky Thompson… I haven’t got this paper either! Think I’m going to have to put another order in soon!

Pootlers Spring Summer Team Swaps using Petal Palette from Stampin' Up!

The next card was created by Laurie Jennings… I love that she’s added some sparkle with some Wink of Stella, and don’t get me started in that embossing folder! How did I miss that?!

Pootlers Spring Summer Team Swaps using Petal Palette from Stampin' Up!

The final card is this lovely creation by Anna Sposato. Anna is one of my Inspire.Create.Challenge buddies and its lovely to have an Anna original in my craft room! She’s also used the Petal Palette suite, and Brusho! Love it!

Pootlers Spring Summer Team Swaps using Petal Palette from Stampin' Up! I cannot wait for our next swapping opportunity, which will be at Stampin’ Up! OnStage in April! eeek… I’m excited already!
