Marshmallow Box – Video Tutorial

Isn’t it always the way, when your doing a big ol’ deep clean that you come across something you had totally forgotten all about! well, that’s what happened to me last week. Deep cleaning my kitchen cupboards and this little box fell out on my head! First of all I thought it was a higher power being nice to me, rewarding my hard-work with Marshmallows, but alas the box was empty! However, it did inspire me to create this fab gift box – great for Marshmallows, or chocolates, a small candle, or just something little and cute!

Ghost Stamping

Ok, So, I think I’ve got a reasonable posting schedule plan for the time being, I’m trying two video’s a week – a Technique Tuesday, and Fun Friday! with my regular card projects between. Currently the only days I haven’t got a scheduled post planned are Wednesdays and Sundays; however, I’m leaving these free so I have some time to share the Weekly Deals and other exciting news!

With that said, it’s Technique Tuesday – so I probably should share my technique with you.

Ghost Stamping!

Stampin' Up! UK Hello Darling Ghost Stamping

I loved playing with this technique, and its super simple! Here I have used a Sahara Sand card base, with a 3″ square of Melon Mambo card stock, and a 2 3/4″ piece of Sahara Sand for stamping. The image is first stamped in Stampin’ Up! White Craft Ink. This ink is a pigment ink, and so takes a little while to dry – be warned! I tend to stamp, go away and make another card or a coffee (or check Facebook / Pinterest) and by the time I come back its dry. You can encourage the drying process with your Heat Tool too.

Then stamp your image again in your coloured ink – I’ve used Melon Mambo here. Off-set the two stamped imaged slightly to create the ghostly effect. I find that more solid stamps work better, creating that white halo, and I always use my Stamp-a-ma-jig for perfect placement when using Wood or Clear mount stamps.

Vivid Vase

I will often alter the way I stamp an image, colouring only part of the stamp – or using my Stampin’ Write Markers to colour the stamp several different colours – and today is one of those cards.

Stampin' Up! UK Vivid Vases Thank you

I coloured a single vase from the Vivid Vases stamp using the Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker, and used my trusty Stamp-a-ma-jig to position the vase in the centre of the piece of Whisper White card stock. The vase is then coloured with Coastal Cabana and Strawberry Slush Stampin’ Write Markers.

Speaking of Coastal Cabana and Strawberry Slush, and the other 2013-2015 In-Colours, they retired on the 2nd of June – So grab your ink refills and card stock NOW! before the full retiring list is released tomorrow! Unfortunately I am at work tomorrow, but will be blogging the list on Wednesday!

This card was finished with the ‘Thank You’ stamp from Big News.

Clean and Simple…

A few weeks ago I mentioned my Guest Design Team Member spot at Fantasy Stampers. Well, today is my final project.

The challenge this time was clean and simple – something I surprisingly really struggled with! I even managed to make a card so far removed from clean and simple that I have already blogged about it!

Stampin' Up! UK Butterfly Basics Blackberry Bliss

So, this was my final card. The floral image is taken from Butterfly Basics and is coloured slightly with one of our blender pens. The sentiment is from the same set, heat embossed in gold.

I added a trio of rhinestones, and as I made this card about 2 months ago (when I was organised! wishful thinking at the moment!) I used the now discontinued Blendabilities Markers in Wisteria Wonder to colour them. While it is a shame about the Blendabilities, I know that Stampin’ Up! have some awesome things just around the corner. Check back in Tuesday for this year Retiring List – all those lovely items that will be leaving us when the new Annual Catalogue Launches on 2nd June!

Thanks to Fantasy Stampers for having me this month. I have loved being a Guest DT!

Heat Embossed Die Cutting

I have another technique video for you today – I was playing around a few weeks ago with heat embossing, and I am loving using my big shot at the moment – and this idea was born!

Stampin' Up! UK embossed die cutting technique video

I think I have shared a very similar card before, but this one is super special – those fabulous die cut words are shiny! I don’t think there is another stamp set I have used as much as Crazy About You, and I still adore those word thinlits too. They make such simple, versatile cards – great for mums, dads, boys, grandparents, sympathy, weddings, Easter, Christmas – Awesome – AND the die’s pop out so easily too.

Isn’t it fab! Share your creations with my in my facebook group!

Party time!

I thought I had already shared this card, I can’t believe its been sat, neglected on my computer for weeks!

About a month ago, Stampin’ Up! challenged me to book two parties as part of Sale-a-bration. Well, Sale-a-bration is now over, but I did have two parties in March, and this the card we made.

Stampin' Up! UK Party make and take

One of my parties had never stamped before, and this card was perfect. I love a simple card, but this one has a little bit of wow with the stamped and punch flower. I even shared my secret for straight stamping: lie your stamp rubber side down on your grid paper, ensuring that the straight edge of the stamp is in line with one of the lines – position your clear block over the top, lining the bottom edge up with one of the grid lines, and push onto the stamp. Now, when you line the bottom edge of you block up with the bottom edge of your paper, your stamp is straight!

Ombre Background Stamping

Ok, so while I work out exactly what is happening on a Friday, I thought I would share some techniques with you. Like I said last week, Fancy Fold Friday is having a little break (but if you have any fancy fold suggestions please do feel free to let me know!) and so Friday’s are a little different, But I still want to get 2 videos out to you every week, and this is what I have so far!

Stampin' Up! UK Ombre stamping video tutorial

It was my anniversary recently, and this was the card I made my darling other half, James. He is totally used to receiving pink cards by now, and really doesn’t mind. But I just loved this technique and HAD to share it with you.

I think this background stamping technique is great. and really versitile too – might have a play at using some of my other background stamps too!

First Ink your stamp with a pale ink, I used Pink Pirouette, before inking a corner with the darker colour (Melon Mambo in my pink example!). Then take a mircofibre cloth – a crafty must have! – dab away the mark between the two colours, blending them on the stamp. Take your Whisper White cardstock and lay it over the inked stamp, apply pressure across the piece, and carefully lift away to reveal the gorgeous Ombre effect!

Die Cut Birthday

Last week was James’ birthday. Guys birthday cards are always tricky, I try and keep things simple (and stay away from Pink!)

Stampin' Up! Uk mens birthday crazy about you

I love this card! It uses the Perpetual Birthday Calender Stamp set, stamped in Hello Honey, along with the ‘Birthday’ stamp from Crazy About You stamped in Lost Lagoon.

Crazy About You is available in a bundle with the Hello You thinlits dies – a collection of 4 word dies – Happy, Hello, Thanks and You – I’m finding myself reaching for these stamps and dies over and over again. I had a stall at a craft fair last weekend, and so many people made comment about these dies – ‘Wow, how did you do that?’ ‘Did you cut that yourself’ – Of course, I told the truth, I could NEVER hope to cut anything and it look this good!
