InspireINK Blog Hop | Stitched All Around Embossed Anniversary Card

How to use Stampin' Up! dies to emboss

StampinByHannah InspireINK Blog Hop Stitched All Around Embossed Anniversary Card

InspirInk Blog Hop Header Stampin' Up! team blog hop

Thanks so much for stopping by here at StampinByHannah today, I LOVE taking part in the InspireINK blog hops with some of my Stampin’ Sisters. Today the very lovely Sally Shaw has picked our theme; Embossed Anniversary!

This is quite timely for me with my 3rd Wedding Anniversary in a couple of weeks time, I will share the card I make for my husband once he has actually seen it so today’s card is a bit of a twist on the theme. It does feature embossing, but the sentiment isn’t quite anniversary, can you forgive me for that? This card would make a really lovely card for an anniversary though, you’d just need to change the sentiment.

Embossing with cutting dies using the Stitched All Around Bundle from Stampin' Up!

This card uses the fabulous Stitched All Around Bundle, which has a lovely mix of cutting and embossing dies, as well as some really pretty stamps, and I am more than a little in love with that label piece!

To create the background I first stamped a piece of Gray Granite card stock with Gray Granite ink. Then I ran it through the Big Shot with the background die from the set. This die isn’t designed to cut at all, instead it embosses and it works really really well with the new Stampin’ Up! Big Shot Embossing Mats and the following Big Shot Sandwich;

  • Big Shot Platform,
  • Cutting Mat, Die (with the embossing edge facing upwards),
  • card stock,
  • THIN blue embossing mat
  • white impressions pad.

I do have a video on my YouTube channel showing this sandwich if you want to check it out.

Embossed Best Wishes card using Stitched All Around from Stampin' Up!

The circle piece is actually 3 dies layered together, with the heart and smaller circle embossed, before the outer circle was die cut. The card is completed with a heat embossed sentiment on a label cut from Merry Merlot card stock, and a trio of Basic Adhesive-Backed Sequins

Do hop along to check out the other Embossed Anniversary card creations, and I hope to see you again!

Love What You Do Divided Sweetie Box…

How to make a cute divided box for sweeties or stationary using Stampin' Up! Share What You Love Designer Series Paper

StampinByHannah Love What You Do Divided Sweetie Box…

So, today I thought I would re-visit a project I shared on this very blog about 3 years ago! I cannot believe that I have been sharing with you here for over 4 years now, I LOVE reading all your comments but I would also love to see if you have made something inspired by something I have shared too. You can share your work with me over on my Facebook Page or, if you don’t want the world to see it, drop me an email! You never know, I might even pop something in the post to you as a Thank you!

How to make a fun box with a cut out lid using Square Framelits and Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up!

For all I’m calling these Divided Sweetie Boxes they would also look super cute on your desk holding all those paper clips, elastic bands and other random desk junk (do other people have this… or is it just me?!). Both of these boxes actually use the same piece of Designer Series Paper from the Share What You Love Designer Series Paper Pack, don’t you love when you can’t decide which side of the paper you love more and have to make two of something just because?! Or is that just me as well!

Measurements:

Card stock for the box base: 6 x 6″ (15 x 15 cm)

Score on all 4 sides at 1″ (2.5 cm)

Designer Series Paper for the box lid: 5-9/16 x 5-9/16″ (14.3 x 14.3 cm)

Score on all 4 sides at 3/4″ (2 cm)

Card stock for dividers: 1 piece that measures 4 x 5-1/2″ (10 x 13.8 cm) and 2 pieces that measure 2 x 5-1/2″ (5 x 13.8 cm)

Score at 2″ (5 cm) on each end and then flip the card stock over and score again at 2-3/4″ (6.9 cm)

Cute divided box with lid using pattened paper from Stampin' Up!

The most special part of these boxes for me is the Square cut out windows. In the original box I cut these by hand because I didn’t have a square die, but for this version I used the Layering Square Dies to cut the window and made the cute Crumb Cake frames too. These frames are really easy to make; first cut the straight edged square from a piece of card stock, then cut a scalloped square out around that one to create a frame. You can see exactly how I did this in the video tutorial above.

I would love to see your creations this weekend, I’ll be back tomorrow with a fun blog hop with the InspireINK team, hope to see you then!

Inspire.Create.Challenge #023 | Congratulations Twinkle Twinkle

How to use Designer Series Paper in your card making featuring Twinkle Twinkle from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah Inspire.Create.Challenge #023 Congratulations Twinkle Twinkle

Inspire.Create.Challenge Stampin' Up! Sketch Challenge number 23

Hello! Oh my goodness, I feel like these challenges are coming around awfully quickly at the moment! I’m sure it’s because we’ve changed how we organise them slightly, and so I only made my challenge card for challenge 22 last week… but nothing has changed for you so really that is completely irrelevant! I do hope you enjoy our challenges, do pop over to the Inspire.Create blog and see the other members of the Design Team’s creations!

Blue Congratulations Card with stars using Twinkle Twinkle Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up!

This sketch totally lends itself to a card that uses big pieces of Designer Series Paper! I love this type of card as they come together really quickly but look fabulous too. My card for today features the Twinkle Twinkle Designer Series Paper that is predominately designed for baby cards, and so that is what I have made today pairing it with the coordinating stamp set; Little Twinkle. However, this paper is full of generic patterns that I can see being put to a heap of uses plus it’s heavy on the Night of Navy too so it’s perfect for guy cards!

The hardest bit of this card was making sure the measurements were right. First I cut the piece of Whisper White as a mat for the Designer Series Paper, then I worked out how big each piece of Designer Series Paper needed to be based on that measurement.

Baby boy congratulations card using Twinkle Twinkle Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up!

Measurement:

Card base: Night of Navy; 29.7 x 10.5 cm, scored on the long side at 14.85 cm

Whisper White; 9.5 x 13.8 cm

4 pieces of Twinkle Twinkle Designer Series Paper; 4.5 x 6.65 cm

Whisper White; 10.5 x 2.5 cm

Floral Friend card with Petal Promenade

How to cut the Petal Promenade Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah Floral Friend card with Petal Promenade

So, one of the pieces of the Petal Promenade Designer Series Paper I have been dreading trying to cut is one that has 9 really beautiful floral frames. There I several reasons why this paper makes me nervous; they are usually sized for a US sized card base which isnt the same size as I use here in the UK, they are really really pretty and I don’t want to mess one up, and then there is the fear of just not having a clue what I am going to do with the frames once they are cut! But, I have started seeing other people make some really pretty cards with these frames. In fact I almost CASE’d THIS card from Patty Bennett to get me started, but I made this card instead.

Pretty Friend card featuring a floral frame using Petal Promenade Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up!

Usually when I’m making a card using Designer Series Paper, I’ll go into the catalogue and look which Stampin’ Up! Colours are in featured, but not for this card. Instead I chose to look and see what colours my eye saw, and that turned into Grapefruit Grove, Lovely Lipstick and Shaded Spruce, none of which are officially in the paper but does that really matter?!

The frame cut from the Petal Promenade Designer Series Paper is an awkward size for layering. To get around this I simply measured it carefully and then cut a piece of Grapefruit Grove card stock half a centimetre longer and wider before layering it onto a card base with a standard sized mat and actually it looks fine.

These frames are designed to fit the Stampin’ Up! note cards and envelopes, which they do perfectly, I just don’t use them very regularly in my crafting and as a result this particular piece of paper would usually get forgotten about!

Make It Monday | Petal Promenade Tag Card

Make It Monday how to make a tag using Beautiful Promenade from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah Make It Monday Petal Promenade Tag Card

Make It Monday banner

Before I get to the card today I just need to remind you of a couple of things:

Make It Monday!

With that said, I have a fabulous Petal Promenade card for you today, using the coordinating Beautiful Layers Thinlits

Make It Monday with Petal Promenade from Stampin' Up! Pretty Valentines Card

One of the things that this stamp and die bundle encourages you to do is play with die cuts and stamped layers, and that it totally what I have done here. The Beautiful Layers dies combine beautifully with the Stitched Shapes Squares for a really fun look, plus the colours from the Petal Promenade Designer Series Paper just made for really pretty projects. I am little bit in love with this colour combination too…

The Petal Promenade Designer Series Paper pack is part of that fabulous Buy 3 Get 1 Free offer I mentioned at the top of this post. You have 10 fabulous packs of Designer Series Paper to choose from, and you can choose any combination of those 4 so that 4 different packs, or 4 of the same. Totally up to you!

This card is a quick, but complex looking build, with stamping on the Designer Series Paper, and a series of die cuts before a little more stamping and a trio of Basic Adhesive-Backed sequins to finish.

The tag is one of those elements that looks really tricky, but in reality is simple to do. There are two ways of making it; you could measure the width of the die and cut a piece of card stock accordingly before die cutting each end. Or you can follow my method; die cut the tag end from the middle of a sheet of scrap card stock, line up your layers and work out where the other end should be, then die cut the tag end again before snipping out the piece using Paper snips or a Stampin’ Trimmer

Beautiful layers I Love You card using Petal Promenade from Stampin' Up!

Either way you end up with this really lovely element for the front of your card, or what about just cutting one end and using it as a tag on your next gift?!

Notebook Cover with Pen Loop using Tea Room Designer Series Paper…

Jotter sized note book cover with pen loop DIY using Stampin' Up! products

StampinByHannah Notebook Cover with Pen Loop using Tea Room Designer Series Paper…

Today’s project was inspired by my fabulous stampin’ buddy Angelina…. I am a bit of a stationary hoarder, and I need a little encouragement to actually use my notebooks, pens, sticky notes etc. sometimes! These notebooks have been hanging around in my office for a while, and I’ve covered a few in the past, but it’s time that they moved on and the best way to do that is to make them pretty and gift them to someone! So, who wants one?! I always sent notebooks and things to my team members… so who’s gonna be the next person to join my team and bag one?

How to apply a cover to a jotter pad using Tea Room Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up!

These both use the Tea Room Speciality Designer Series Paper to add a little something to the front of the covers, and while one I have added the stamping directly onto the paper, the other has some extra layers and details. Both are designed to hold these pens, they were gifted to us at a Stampin’ Up! OnStage event… these fabulous events are Demonstrator only entry, but I wanted to let you know that the registration for the next one (held in Birmingham this coming November) will open in August, and while we have the fabulous Stampin’ Pad Family joining offer it would be a great time to come and join my team!

Measurements:

Card stock: 6-1/4 x 8-1/4″ (16 x 21 cm)

Score on the short side at 2-3/4 and 3″ (7 and 7.5 cm)

Go For Greece | Hello Floral Frames!

Pretty Hello card using Floral Frames from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah Go For Greece Hello Floral Frames!

Go for Greece Blog Hop

I have already shared one card using the Floral Frames bundle today but seeing as I made these two one after the other, it just seemed right to share them together too! How pretty is this stamp set! It might just be one of the prettiest in the catalogue!

Floral Frames Hello card with die cutting and embossing using Stampin' Up! products

I don’t very often combine products. But I have today because, I die cut and layered everything up and then thought the card looked a little plain. I almost always assemble the card before I glue everything down, just to check that I haven’t missed something… so glad I did today because I am running really low on Soft Sea Foam card stock, really need to add that to my next order! So, because I decided the card was a little plain, I added some dry embossing to the background using the Lovely Floral Dynamic Embossing Folder, and then covered most of it with this fabulous frame!

Fun die cut and embossed Hello card using Floral Frames from Stampin' Up!

The frame, and the leaves are both designed to be used with the new Stampin’ Up! Big Shot Embossing Mats. I’ve done a couple of videos using these, and I LOVE them!

To get this effect…

  1. Die cut the frame and the leaves using a standard sandwich (Magnetic Platform, Cutting Mat, card stock, die, Cutting mat), making sure to washi-tape the die to the card stock so that the card stock doesn’t fall out before the next step.
  2. Then run the dies back through the big shot, using the thin blue embossing mat (Big Shot platform, Cutting mat, Die, Card stock, Blue embossing mat, white Impressions pad). This then gives a subtle embossing onto die cuts for an extra pretty touch!

To finish the card I added a couple of the flowers from the stamp set in Poppy Parade, and stamped the sentiment in Cherry Cobbler, before popping it all up on lots of dimensionals!

Thanks for joining me today, do check out these other talented ladies on the hop… and I hope to see you again soon
