Congratulations …. Zoo Babies Card

So, looking through my stash of items that haven’t been retired my stamp sets have dwindled a little, and forgot sets have been remembered, this one inparticular … Zoo Babies

SAM_0439

This card is super simple: Zoo Babies stamp set (isnt it just the cutest!), three colours picked from the suggested colour combinations in the Color Coach; Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise, and Daffodil Delight, on Whisper White cardstock. The Sentiment is also from the same stamp set, stamped in Melon Mambo onto a handcut Whisper White banner, and popped up on a couple of Dimentionals.

I love a card with a bit of white space!

The Stampin’ Up! Colour Coach …… and why you need one!

So I had a parcel last week from my upline, a lovely welcome to my team card, one of her fabulous notebooks and a colour coach. Now, I’d seen the Colour Coach in the Stampin’ Up! catalogue, I’d looked at it, and thought “don’t need one of those, I understand colour, I know which colour work and which don’t!” I have always made my own colour swatches in the past, I have a tag for each Ink pad I own (including my Stampin’ Up! ones) so if I want to a can compare different colours, and I have used them previously to match inks to patterned papers or to choose an ink  colour for a particular stamp or image, so I really wasn’t planning on getting the Stampin’ Up! colour coach.

I was so very wrong! The colour coach is awesome! Each colour gets its own card; the front it a solid colour with it name and colour family along the side and bottom, while the back shows you 2 three colour combinations including the colour of the card, along with its ‘sister’ colour for creating a monochromatic look, two step stamping or choosing coordinating ink and cardstock.

The front of the guide explains how the coach works, while the back card gives you space to create your own colour combinations. The coach also include two cards giving the colours in each colour collection: subtles, brights, regals, neutrals. The current In Colours are available as two separate packs, one for the newest colours and one for the returning colours.

Stampin’ Up! also provide a great PDF (available here) which give you further tips and colour principles to get you started in your colour journey.

Guys Wedding Favour boxes – Gum Holder

So, We get married next year and I am currently in the middle of making invitations, place cards, wedding favours and all the other bits of wedding stationary!

During a discussion with the other half he mentioned about wedding favours, and something for the guys (I don’t see whats wrong with chocolates, but still, packets of chewing gum it is!) Each guest will be getting a wedding favour, but I am making a selection as different people need different things: bridesmaids, groomsmen, children, will get different things.

Which brings me in a sort of round about way to this weeks project: gum holders….

This holds a triple pack of a famous brand of chewing gum.

The cardstock piece measures 3 3/4 by 7 1/2, or 10cm x 19.5cm (not what I said in the video!)

Scored on the long side at:

1, 1 1/2, 4 1/4 and 4 3/4 or 2.5, 4, 11, 12.5cm

Scored on the short side at:

1/2 and 3 1/4 or 1.5 and 8.5cm

Just because …… Who doesn’t love petals!

Our card for today uses the Petite Petals stamps and punch to give a fully coordinated look

The original card uses the new 2014-2016 In Colours: Blackberry Bliss, Lost Lagoon, and Hello Honey, along with Crumb Cake from the Neutrals collection, I changed it a little for the video, using Brights collection colours; Real Red, Bermuda Bay, and Daffodil Delight.

Stampin Up! Petite Petals in colours 2014

The card uses Whisper White cardstock, cut to 10 x5 inches, and scored at 5 inches, but you could totally adjust that to meet your own needs (and what you might have in your crafty stash)

Don’t forget if you like anything used on this card, you can check out my store at: stampinbyhannah.stampinup.net

Project Life by Stampin’ Up!

Today Stampin’ Up! UK introduces Project LIfe by Becky Higgins into the catalogue. I have previously dabbled in this method of memory keeping. I am a traditional 12×12 scrapbooker, I love working with my photos, bringing out something in the picture, telling a story, drawing the eye into a particular part of a page. The great thing about Project Life is the ability to tell a lot of stories in a very small space, generally 3×4 or 4×6 inches.

——> what does the Kit contain

Each kit costs £13.50 and contains 100 double sided cards in 6×4, 4×4 and 3×4 sizes with no repeated designs (unlike the Becky Higgins packs which have multiples of each card). The cards coordinate with Stampin’ Up! colours and have coordinating accessory packs (£8.95) with  lazer cut cards, stickers, washi tape, and wood accents, along with some other accessories. Stampin’ Up! have also produced a new corner punch, journalling pens, 3 stamp sets, framelits dies, as well as a selection of exclusive photo pocket pages to put all your cards and photos in!

Project Life

——> Doing Project Life

So, to be successful at completing a Project Life project comes down to planning. Decide what you what to document; is it one trip? the first 12 months of your child’s life? a year in the life of your family? There are plenty of project life planners available for free to assist you in this planning stage, I have previously created my own, but It generally involves writing down key memories or events, and of course, remembering to take the pictures (This is generally where I fall down). I have recently discovered a totally awesome app to help, collectphotoapp.com. The app is basically a calender which you fill with photos, it also reminds you to take a photo a day. The issue then is printing, I recommend finding a method that works for you and how you plan on completing your Project Life. Personally I prefer the Print at Home method, allowing me to change my photo size/shape, and reprint if I need to. I just use photo paper and my regular print (it a pretty decent, HP OfficeJet 4500), but I would definitely consider getting a dedicated photo printer, such as the Canon Selphy.

—–> The Fun bit!

Now you have your collected memories and your photos you ready to put some pages together. I layout all my photos, seeing which ones tell the same story, and deciding if any photos need to be re-printed in a different size. Then I allocate cards, and write my journalling. The comes the fun bit, the embellishments, adding the bling, stamping and making it all pretty!

Stampin’ Up! UK Starter Kit!

So, guess what I got today!!! Yep, you got it, my Stampin’ Up! UK starter kit! I could have hugged the UPS man, I have a feeling he might have delivered a couple of boxes with Stampin’ Up! tape on before, as he left with a very cheerful, “have fun with it!”

Rather than just listing what came in the box, I thought I’d do a bit of video. I apologise for the bad camera work but my tripod is rather dodgy and it was just easier to film holding the camera.

Anyway, here it is…..

Before you leave don’t forget to head on over to my Stampin’ Up! store and have a look at the long (-ish) list of retiring items before they leave us all forever

Fathers Day

Fathers day is here once again (well it will be next weekend) and the stress of trying to make cards for men raises its ugly head.SAM_0353

This year I’ve struck lucky, and found the Wellington Bear collection from DoCrafts. Its a nice selection of masculine images along with a cute bear and some plain backing papers. I bought the 6×6 paper pack a good while ago but found it again during my craft room tidying and fell back in love with this adorable bear.

I have quite a selection of cards for fathers day this year, all made with Wellington.

I also used my Spellbinders Distress edges die, an edge punch and a simple stamp, to create a collection of simple layered cards

A bit of teabag folding

 SAM_0347

SAM_0345This beautiful card uses more of Papermania capsule collection, but this time in a way that is brand new to me – teabag folding. I was watching youtube last week, and came across this video, of a lady making this fold for the top of a box. I thought it was so pretty I had to give it a go! This was my third completed flower (the first I have already given away on a card, which I forgot to photograph!)

I added two layered buttons and some bakers twine to complete the flower before adding to a simple Get Well Soon card
