Fancy Fold Friday – Zig Zag Fold

Hello! Welcome to the second in my series of ‘fancy fold’ cards!

This week, I’ve made a Zig-Zag fold card, using Real Red and Flashback DSP.

I do love designer series paper – I love patterns, and colour, and really I’m just a stationary geek! (yes, I love staples and paperclips too!), but I really struggle to use DSP on cards! I love using it for scrapbooking, I use masses of 12×12 papers on layouts and in Project Life, but on cards, I get a little stuck!

Stampin' Up! UK Zig Zag fold card Flashback DSP

This card, although it looks complex, is really simple to create. The cardbase is cut at 8 1/4 by 5 3/4, then (and this is the only complicated bit!) you need to line one corner of the cardstock up with the top corner of your papertrimmer, then line the corner diagonally opposite to it up with the 4″ line on your trimmer – this will create the slopping angle to the top of the card. The card is then embellished with the Flashback DSP cut the same as the cardbase, before trimming 1/2″ from the bottom edge, and cut into 2 1/2″ strips.

FFF - zig zag 1

The card was then completed with three punched flowers, stamped using the Something to Say stamp set, and punched using the Itty Bitty Accents punch pack. The sentiment is only available until the end of October, place an order (or host a party) of over £200, and earn this stamp set for FREE! its so super cute, and has some lovely sentiments for Christmas and Halloween crafting.

See you again next week

100 Posts!

Hello! Welcome to StampinByHannah

Is this your first visit? If it is there are lots of ideas and inspiration already here, this is my 100th blog post!

I cant believe it! when I started StampinByHannah in June of this year I never expected to reach 100 posts! or even 1000 blog views! (we I reached last month, thank you all very much!)

So, for my 100th I thought I would give you something a little different.

I thought I would tell you a little more about me, and what I do, why I’m here, and what I can offer!

Stampin Up!

So, I’m Hannah and I run two websites, this one StampinByHannah, and The Handmade Weddings – where I produce and sell handmade wedding stationary.

When I’m not in my craft room, I’m probably at my day job (or night job as it appears to be at the moment) working as a nurse in a nursing home. It’s a job I love (not as much as crafting and being creative, but I do love it!)

I have a cat, Freda, and get married to James next August! So, I’ve now got just less than 10 months to finish planning, loose another stone in weight, make the cakes, flower arrangements, and of course all the wedding stationary!

Stampin' Up! UK Pick a pack of Paper DSP Designer Series Paper

I adore working with Stampin’ Up! I use their products all the time, not just for making things for the blog, but also cards for family and friends (and customers!), as well as for my Wedding Stationary business. The quality is just exceptional!

Over the next few weeks and months I have some awesome projects and ideas for you; last week we started a series on a Friday for special folds – Fancy Fold Friday, and this week I launched the 12 Tags of Christmas – a series coming to you each and every Monday from now until Christmas week! Next week is a busy week here on the blog – to celebrate the success of the Festival of Trees stamp set (its been the top seller for Stampin’ Up! UK for the past few weeks, I love it, and I’ve had a LOT of re-pins on Pinterest for my Festival of Trees projects) I am dedicating the whole week to Festival of Trees! thats 5 cards and 1 tag, all featuring the Festival of Trees!

I’m planning on some new classes launching in the new year, looking at cards and scrapbooking, in particular Project Life by Stampin’ Up! which is just awesome!

And I have lots of other exciting things coming really soon!

So, thank you all so much for reading and subscribing!

I now also have a monthly newsletter, e-mailed to your inbox at the beginning of each month! to subscribe to that drop me a message HERE!

12 Tags of Christmas!

Hello there!

Can you believe it! There are 12 weeks left until Christmas! Time to sort the Cards, Presents, and food!!!!

As you have already seen, I’ve made a start on my Christmas cards, so I was thinking about something we could do, to celebrate the 12 weeks of Christmas! when the Scallop Tag Topper Punch arrived on my desk!

So, I introduce to you….. The 12 Tags of Christmas….. coming to you each Monday between now and Christmas!

Stampin' Up! UK Espresso Trim the Tree Tag Good Greetings

So, most of the tags in this series use the Scallop Tag Topper Punch, and so to fit in the punch each tag is 2″ wide. This tag uses two ‘tags’ at 2″ x 6″ one in Early Espresso cardstock and one in a piece of DSP from the Trim the Tree Designer Series Paper stack. I love these DSP stack, there are two in the annual catalogue and one in the current seasonal – with sheets measuring 6.5″ x 4.5″, and they have loads of really cool patterns and are great for card fronts and sweet little gifts!

Stampin' Up! UK Espresso Trim the Tree Tag Good GreetingsAs well as the Scallop Tag Topper punch this tag also uses the Modern Label punch, and this cute greeting from Good Greetings (our StampinByHannah product of the month! see HERE!)

The twine for this tag comes from the Under the Tree Tag a Bag Accessory Kit, you get loads and loads of Crumb Cake bakers twine (along with a heap of other goodies) for £7.25! LOVE!

Check back next week for more Tags!

World Card Making Day 2014 – So Thankful for You!

Thank you continuing to read on, on this wonder World Card Making Day 2014!

This is my final card!

Stampin' Up! UK I Like You Elegant Butterfly

This simple card uses two punches (a bit like THIS card from earlier today!). First punch the Elegant Butterfly and then punch the Decorative Label around it!  I then added a stamped butterfly to the cardbase, and added the punched piece around it.

The sentiment is simply stamped from the I Like You hostess set underneath.

To receive one of the 12 cards I have made today, simply place an order HERE in the month of October

World Card Making Day 2014 – Lovely Letterpress

Stampin' Up! UK Letterpress Lovely Lace

This card was such a mess to make! LetterPress is one of the ‘hot topics’ in the crafty world at the moment! I had to have a go!

I grabbed my Lovely Lace embossing folder, and Melon Mambo ink. To get this look, where the ink is on the ‘flat’ part of the design, with the white embossing sticking up through it, you need to add ink directly to the embossing folder. I add my ink to the side with the Sizzix / Stampin’ Up! logos on. Be carefully not to get ink down into the design of the folder, or you will end up with ink on the embossed elements – which we want to stay white. Then, lay the cardstock in the embossing folder, closing the folder carefully so not to move the card and smudge the ink. The run this embossing folder / ink / cardstock sandwich through your Big Shot.

The next trick is to remove the cardstock from the folder without smudging the ink! I would suggest that you leave this to dry for a little while, the card will be very wet! and clean the embossing folder quickly – I made this card a couple of days ago (yes, I’m naughty, this is the power of the blog – I’m actually at work right now!), and I still have bright pink inky fingers!

But the result is so pretty!

I finished this card with a simple sentiment from I Like You!

World Card Making Day 2014 – Crushed Flowers

Stampin' Up! UK Crushed Curry I Like You

This gorgeous card is Crushed Curry with a Very Vanilla panel, the floral images are stamped from the lovely I Like You Stamp set. The focus of this card though is that lovely ribbon across the middle!

Here I’ve used the White 5/8″ Organza Ribbon. White, white! yes, White! but I’ve changed the colour with the Crushed Curry Stampin’ Write Marker. I love this, particularlly with with the Crushed Curry marker, as the ribbon takes on this gorgeous deep gold tone. It is so lovely! This card is finished by popping that Very Vanilla panel up on dimensionals to attach it to the Crushed Curry cardbase.

World Card Making Day 2014 – Rosey Papillon

As we continue our journey through 12 cards in 12 hours for World Card Making Day 2014, I thought I would just remind you that all the products used for all the cards cost less than £130, and so could form your Stampin’ Up! Started Kit! message me HERE for more information about joining Stampin’ Up!

Stampin' Up! UK Rose Red Papillon Potpourri

This card uses not only that gorgeous Papillon Potpourri stamp set, and a piece of DSP!

The butterflies are mutli-colour stamped using the Stampin’ Write Markers! (I love these. Not only are they great for journalling, but the brush tip allows you to colour your stamps, meaning that you can create multi-coloured stamped images like these butterflies!)

The cardbase is Rose Red, and the DSP is Blushing Bride from the Subtles DSP stack!

World Card Making Day 2014 – Oooops!

Ok, so this is the 8th card for World Card Making Day 2014! and this one should have been so beautiful! but I made such a mess 🙁 and I though I would share it anway – we can all be perfect all the time can we?! I so wish I was Mary Poppins! Well, that was a tangent!

So, the card……

Stampin' Up! UK I Like You Vellum

This card was going to be this lovely crisp white floral on vellum, with gold stamped sentiments – which it was, but I’m so impatient! and Stampin’ Up! White Craft Ink takes an age to dry! Like really, stamp and leave it to dry overnight! I so wish I had (yes, I could have re-made the card, but then I’d be lying to you, and that would be bad, so here you go, learn my lessons!)

And so it was taking ages to dry to I blasted it with the Heat Gun, which warped the vellum, and then I thought it was dry! So I stuck it onto my Real Red card base – Up.Side.Down! #FAIL!

So, then I cut the Real Red piece down to the size of the vellum, and of course, the ink wasnt dry quite! Craft ink goes sticky before it dries, so it stuck to my trimmer, and the gold smudged!

It was so pretty, and now its a little bit of a mess! But I still love it!

If you order through me this month you are in with the chance of receiving one of the 12 cards I made for World Card Making Day 2014 (and I will remake this one so it is actually pretty!)

This is the 7th card for World Card Making Day 2014 – are you sick of me yet?!

Stampin' Up! UK Papillion Potpourri I like you

This super cute card uses the Papillon Potpourri Stamp Set, and the Elegant Butterfly punch.

I love the colour combination: Basic Grey, Daffodil Delight and So Saffron – which doesnt show up so wonderfully in photographs as DD and SS are such similar colours 🙁
