Memory Keeping with Stampin' Up!

Ok, so I have spoken before about how Scrapbooking was my first papercraft… But I’ve never really shared it here on my blog. Until now! I HOPE to be bringing you some more memory keeping really soon, I have 4 of these posts planned but when the other 3 will go live I’m not sure yet!

Share What You Love 12 x 12 Scrapbook page using Love What You Do from Stampin' Up!

I have a video for this one that probably shows this project better than the photos (something else I need to work on!). This page is destined to end up in my Wedding Album, when I am able to get all that goodness back out of storage! All my wedding photos are stored together, hence why there isn’t an actual photograph on this page.

The paper here is all from the Share What You Love Speciality Designer Series Paper pack. I LOVE this paper! It features some lovely pearlised highlights, floral prints and beautiful colours too. This paper is officially released on the 1st June, BUT you can get in now in the Gotta Have It All Bundle as part of the Share What You Love Early Release.

Share What You Love 12 x 12 Scrapbook page using Love What You Do from Stampin' Up!

I’ve also stamped the background with the coordinating Love What You Do stamp set. It’s stamped here in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, straight onto the Whisper White 12 x 12 background.

One Little Word using Memories and More from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah Thoughtful Thursday One Little Word

Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator StampinByHannah Thoughtful Thursday

These Thoughtful Thursday blog posts were designed to allow me to reach out and share more of my personal crafting with you. I started to craft as a bit of an escape, and it has become a way of helping me control my anxiety and improve my Mental Health. One of the crafty ways I am tackling my anxiety this year is by taking Ali Edwards‘ One Little Word class. I have been watching this class from a distance for a few years, but this year I decided to spend my birthday money on me and buy the class! I am SO glad that I did!

So, the last Thursday of each month I am planning on sharing my One Little Word project for the month.

How to create a One Little Word Album using Stampin' Up! Supplies

The idea of the class is pretty simple. You pick a ‘focus’ word for the year, and then each month Ali provided videos and prompts for you to creatively explore that word, giving your inspiration and much much more.

My word for 2018 is ‘Growth’. I’m not going to go into massive amounts of detail about my word, other than what it is. However, I will share my spreads for the month. I am choosing to use Stampin’ Up! supplies for my One Little Word album, in conjunction with some of the print-ables that come as part of the class.

Memories and More from Stampin' Up! to complete One Little Word from Ali Edwards

My starting point for this album is the Perfect Days Memories and More Card Pack. You guys know I’m all about the colours… and the colours in this pack are awesome!

I’m really feeling cooler tones at the moment, and I don’t know whether that’s because my Anxiety has been playing up, or the fact that its been REALLY cold outside!

Thoughtful Thursday One Little Word scrapbooking using Memories and More from Stampin' Up!

Like I mentioned Ali provides a heap of print-able elements as part of this class. So the first thing I did was download and print the journalling cards for the month. I managed to completely screw this up (hence why they are backed on Memories and More cards!)… I expect its to do with printing out cards designed for 8-1/2 x 11″ paper on A4, and my complete lack of technical ability, but I don’t mind. I’m not sure whether I might try and work it out for next month, or stick with things how they are… we shall see!

How to do One Little Word from Ali Edwards using Stampin' Up! supplies

As you can see I have totally finished this month, I need to work on my Intentions a little more and add a photograph of myself in that 3×4 pocket but I wanted to share this with you before the end of the month. Looking at that picture, I might move some of those cards around a little too… a work in progress as always!

What big crafty project are you taking on in 2018? I’ll love to know, let me know in the comments below!

Memory Keeping | Wedding Album Update

Wedding themed scrapbook album using Stampin' Up! UK products

A little while ago I mentioned that I had started compiling my Wedding Album. I will openly admit that I’m not sticking completely to Stampin’ Up! products for this one, mainly because it’s such a big project and we don’t currently have any wedding themed Project Life kits, but I am using my Stampin’ Up! inks, some stamps, punches and odd bits and pieces. Wedding themed Scrapbook using Project Life and traditional scrapbook pages

I thought I would share with you today on my progress. My wedding was now over 12 months ago, and I was hoping to have it completed by now, but with one thing and another life has got in the way. Last month I took the opportunity to print all 711 wedding photos taken by our official photographer, I had them all printed in 6 x 4 size, although I knew some would need re-printing in a smaller format – I preferred to get them all printed first so I could work out exactly which photos I wanted to use. I’m using a Project Life base for my album, although I am adding traditional 12 x 12 scrapbook pages in too, and I’m thinking about maybe some A4 pages as well.

Wedding themed scrapbook album using Stampin' Up! UK products

So, my album is coming along quite nicely. I started the album about 18 months ago (yes, before the wedding) to include some of the photographs we had taken at out Engagement shoot. I planned out my album carefully; choosing the classic Black binder from Stampin’ Up! and have both a pack of the Becky Higgins Project Life page protectors as well as the Stampin’ Up! branded ones, although I still need to grab a few more standard 12 x 12 page protectors for my traditional layouts.

Most of the Project Life cards I’m using for the PL sections of the album are from the (a think now retired) Wedding themed pack from Becky Higgins, as well as some cards from some other companies (like I said, I’m not sticky religiously to Stampin’ Up! here), but for the 12 x 12 pages I’m using a mixture of Stampin’ Up! stamps as well as some Patterned Paper collected over the years from various different places and companies. This particular page though is very Stampin’ Up! heavy.

Wedding scrapbook using Project Life by Stampin' Up! and traditional scrapbook layoutsThe glitter paper is Silver Glimmer Paper from Stampin’ Up! while the stamped images are taken from Birthday Blossoms and are stamped in Elegant Eggplant. I just love this series of photo’s from our day, walking with my dad down the aisle, that middle picture makes me cry almost every single time I look at it!

Wedding scrapbook layout using Stampin' Up! UK products

I wish I could remember where these letters are from, but I have had them for so long I have no idea anymore. They probably came in a kit years ago, but which one and what brand I couldn’t say. The layout was completed with a scattering of Stampin’ Up! Metal Rimmed Pearls and and the date stamped on the Vellum tag.

I am really enjoying putting our Wedding album together, and I am sure I will be posting about it again once it is finished, anyone want a video walk-through once it’s finished?

Go Wild Scrapbook Page

12x12 Scrapbook page Engagement shoot Designer Series Paper Stampin' Up!

Something that you may not know about me, is that originally I was a 12×12 scrapbooker, and I only started making cards to use up my scraps of patterned paper. I don’t tend to show you guys much memory keeping on the blog, mainly because I don’t get much time to make 12×12 layouts very often anymore. However, I am about to embark on the enormous project that is my Wedding Album! I have everything ready, I just haven’t gotten around to printing the pictures! I am hoping to have at least made a start on the album by the time our first anniversary rolls around in August.

12x12 Scrapbook page Go Wild Designer Series Paper Rose Wonder Stampin' Up! UK

So, this layout will be finding its way into the Wedding Album, as it is part of our Engagement photo shoot.

12x12 Scrapbook page Engagement shoot Designer Series Paper Stampin' Up!

I was challenged by my wonderful upline to use up a pack of Designer Series Paper a few weeks ago. At a Team Training event she presented us all with a pack of the Go Wild Designer Series Paper, as well as a couple of embellishment type bits and bobs and asked us to see what we could create. I have a whole heap of card using this paper now – which you will see if you are subscribed to my Email Newsletter today.

Wedding Album 12x12 Scrapbook page Rose Wonder Stampin' Up! UK

The layout is actually pretty simple. There are several layers of Designer Series Paper and Card Stock behind the photo. Because I enjoy the layered effect some of the layers have raised corner – popped up with a dimensional, and then I die cut the Rose Garden thinlits out of Blushing Bride Card Stock as embellishments. The title is stamped using the Layered Letters Alphabet, and the layout was completed with a scattering of Blushing Bride sequins.

The Go Wild Designer Series Paper stack is retiring soon (end of May) and is currently available for a reduced price of £5.08! Awesome!

Project Life – Week 3

Stampin' Up! UK Project life by Stampin Up PLxSU blog hopWelcome to another Project Life Blog Hop!

I know its a short hop this month, but we are hoping that over the coming months this will grow. I love Project Life, its a great way of documenting both important events, as well as the every day occurrences. This year, my wedding year, I am hoping to complete a full Project Life, with a page for each week. I hope that this monthly hop can help keep me on track, as well as giving you some inspiration and ideas.

I decided to use the Sale-a-Bration This Day Project Life Mini Card Collection for this short week of my Project Life.

I work a strange schedule in my day job, doing 5 11 hour shifts one week and 2 the next. This means that I do very little other than work every other week, and guess what, Week 3 was one of those weeks! Still, with trying to loose some weight and slim down ready for this Wedding in August Me and James went for a 7.5 mile walk one day, and as such giving me something for the PL album week 3! Stampin' Up! UK Project Life sale-a-bration

I love the Project Life style of documenting. It allows you not only to document the big things in life; birthdays, weddings, births etc. but also it makes documenting the every day really easy. I wouldn’t have made a 12 x 12 page layout of us going for a walk, but a few pockets of Project Life is super simple.

Some weeks I do a lot of embellishing, some weeks less, and seeing as I don’t have much of a story for this week I haven’t embellished very much either. But this is one of the greatest things about Project Life – it doesn’t matter, you do as much as you like, as much embellishing, as much journalling, or just use photos, and it still looks awesome!

The Big Day Project Life Mini Card Collection is one of the Sale-a-bration offerings this year. It contains 30 cards, both 6 x 4 and 3 x 4, with a range of summery patterns and journalling cards. As I have mentioned before one of the many awesome things about Stampin’ Up! is the coordination between products, and this card collection is no exception, using Stampin’ Up! colours; Coastal Cabana, Daffodil Delight, Island Indigo, Rich Razzleberry, and Tangerine Tango.

Stampin' Up! UK Sophisticated Serifs Project Life

I always make a title card for each spread in my Project Life album. I will often use stickers, seeing as I have quite a collection of Thickers from my previous life as a 12 x 12 scrapbooker. But today I have opted to use stamps! In particular a new set of Alphabet stamps from the Spring / Summer catalogue – Sophisticated Serifs, stamped in Rich Razzleberry to tie into the other cards in the layout.

As part of my title card this week I have also explained way there aren’t very many pictures of this week, and what the photographs are of. I love doing this, a kind of weekly round up.

PLxSU blog hop October 2014

So, something totally new for me today! taking part in a blog hop!

I do hope you are enjoying the hop, and if this is your first port of call, please check out the other projects on the hop today

Stampin' Up! UK Project life by Stampin Up PLxSU blog hop

On to my project…..

I haven’t looked at project life for a couple of month 🙁 working nights over the late summer and autumn has kind of put pay to most of my life, and so I havent really done very much other than work and sleep! however, a few weeks ago James and I went to one of our favourite places – Beamish museum (If you are ever in the North East of England you MUST check it out, its awesome!), and had a great day!

Before we get into my album, I just want to apologise for the photos, photographing Project Life is still new to me, I hope to improve over the coming months!

Stampin' Up! UK Project Life

So, I decided to keep things simple this month, concentrating on the photos and a little journalling. As I have already mentioned, I’ve been super busy with the day job recently, working nights is just about killing me, but its due to end soon! Yay! So, more time to craft and create is coming my way :D. I haven’t even included a title! (somewhat of an accident in the fact I forgot!) but we know where we were, and I do mention the place in the journalling.

This spread uses the Everyday Adventure kit (Stampin’ Up! of course!), but I have selected the subtler cards. I love this kit, but it is super bright!, the journalling card on this page originally had a Strawberry Slush coloured heart, which didnt really fit with the rest of the page, but I loved the lined card, so I covered the heart with a sticker from the Everyday Adventure Accessory Pack, and added a punched piece.

Stampin' Up! UK Project Life

I love the look of rounded corners in my albums, I think it probably comes from using Becky Higgins Project Life kits for a while. So the Project Life by Stampin’ Up! corner rounder was a MUST for me!, along with the Design 1 pocket pages pack (its just my favourite layout – I’m using just these for the Wedding album too!)

There are touches of embellishment on some of the photos, but as I have kept all the photos at either 6×4 or 3×4 sizes there wasn’t much room for embellishment; just a couple of stickers or die cuts here and there, washi tape, and staples! (have I ever mentioned my LOVE for staples?!)

Stampin' Up! UK Project Life

I am not an exclusively Project Life based scrapbook-er, I still love 12×12 layouts (I know, I know!), So I have also created a 12×12 to sit opposite this page in my album.

Stampin' Up! UK Project Life

It also uses some cards from the Everyday Adventure Project Life Card Collection! It one of the many things I love about Stampin’ Up! – the fact that I can totally coordinate everything! I’ve added some home-made card candi to this page to add a touch of the ‘Cherry Cobbler’ type colour in the photo, as well as a hint of Old Olive green.

Stampin' Up! UK Project Life

So, I hope you check out some of the other pages on the hop today! (as we are around the world, all the posts go live at midnight where the person is posting from, we will all be there later on!)

Memory Monday – 12×12 layout

I love scrapbooking! I found card making through scrapbooking actually. I started making cards because I wanted to find a use for all my scraps of pattern paper, and found that I love making cards as much as I love memory keeping! Recently, what with working as a nurse, card-making, businesses, and wedding planning, scrapbooking has become a bit forgotten, but I’m hoping that this series ‘Memory Mondays’ will help to get me back on track!

Last week I used Project Life to document a trip to Castle Howard, a gorgeous stately home set in  the glorious countryside of North Yorkshire! I love Project Life but sometime I need a little more space to tell my story, and then I return to 12×12 layouts!

Stampin' Up! UK Scrapbook 12x12 Memory Keeping

The weather wasnt the best the day we went to Castle Howard, but in my option Memory Keeping isnt really about the quality of the photograph – its about the memory associated with it!

I used the Flashback Designer Series Paper Pack, in particular the sheets that had Pool Party, Basic Black and Real Red! I love that Stampin’ Up! use the same colours for each product line, it makes coordination just so easy! I picked out the Smokey Slate camera from one of the pieces of Flashback, I often use 3’s both in card making and scrapbooking – I’ll cluster either 3 or 5 embellishments, even numbers just dont look right to me. So, I created 3 patches of embellishments using on of the camera’s on a Dimentional, a piece of Washi Tape and a acetate accent from the Everyday Adventure Project Life by Stampin’ Up! Accessory Pack.

The title uses our Product of the Month – the Back to Basics Alphabet Stamp set, stamped in Pool Party (see, that coordination again!).

The layout looked a little bare at this point, so I added my journalling, argueably the most important aspect of scrapbooking, getting your memories onto the page! This is not always the easiest bit, or the most fun, but ask yourself, why are you making this page if your not saying anything about why! I generally take the who, what, when, where, why approach. Use your journalling to explain who you’re with (or who you are!), what you did, when you did it, where you went, and why you went there.

To finish the layout, as it still looked a little bare, I used a small paint brush with some water, and Pool Party and Smokey Slate ink to create some splatter on the white section of the page.

What do you think? let me know in the comments below….

Product of the Month – make your own Project Life Cards

Hello!

So, like I promised I’ve managed to make a few things with my Product of the Month this month – The Back to Basics Alphabet!

I did film makingthis, but something happened to my camera and it failed to capture the whole event! So, I decided to do away with it altogether!

Project Life By Stampin Up UK DIY PL Card

This is a simple project. You could easily step it up and create something amazing, but I wanted to keep it simple to showcase the Alphabet. I cut a piece of Perfect Plum Cardstock to 6″ x 4″, and rounded the corners (to match the rest of the cards in my album!). I know some people arent a fan of the rounded corner look, but I LOVE it, the cards just dont feel finished to me without rounded corners, I expect it comes from using the Becky Higgins Project Life Core Kits for so long! but, back to the project!

I used Work of Art to create a background on the PL card stamping in: Wisteria Wonder, Perfect Plum and Blackberry Bliss, before stamping the page title and date using the Back to Basics Alphabet Stamp set – isnt it great that it includes numbers too!

I added some more stamping to some of the other cards in this layout too, adding details of people and locations around the grounds. This alphabet is so easy to use because its such a clear clean font, and its just so versitile – check back soon for more alphabet ideas!

Project Life by Stampin’ Up! July 2014

Another month come and gone, and a heap of photos to get into albums, isnt it great that we have Project Life by Stampin’ Up! to make that process easier.

Project Life by Stampin Up July 2014

I really do love how simple you can make Project Life, and how complex it can become by adding items from the accessory packs, stamping, extra cardstock or DSP, and other memorabilia alongside your photos and journalling.

This month I created 3 pages (or spreads), the first focuses on the first week in the month. Usually I’m not too fussy about which order my photos from the month go in on the page, however, I knew I wanted this week to be seperate and a little different as it is about a very important week in our wedding planning process (12 months to go now! eeeek!), and included the taking of our engagement photos, buying our rings and me finding THE dress! Of course I havent included the photo of the dress (dont want the Mr. seeing it do we!) but I have mentioned it in my journalling.

Project Life by Stampin Up July 2014

The other two pages this month include the other photos and events from the month of July. I have discovered that I seem to take more photos of food than anything else! We’re supposed to be dieting (wedding prep again!) but this month has been horrendous with work, we’ve both had a heap of night shifts and horrible periods of not seeing each other at all, and so we’ve had a bit of a treat with a date night to Pizza Express, payday takeaway, and I might have been very naughty one of the nights James was on nightshift and I couldnt be bothered to find real food! Ooops! oh well, back to the dieting grindstone in August!

Project Life by Stampin Up July 2014

This month, as well as using the Everyday Adventure Project Life Card Collection, and Accessory Pack, I’ve mixed it up a little with the addition of some of the Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack. I’m planning on working on these pages a little longer (put a nice order recently to add to my ever growing stash!), will do a full video share once they are completely finished, but I didnt want you to think I hadnt been working on it at all, so….

Until next time
