Inspire.Create.Challenges Love Themed Challenge

Oh yes… the next big card making event (other than Birthdays!) is Valentines day and this week’s Inspire.Create.Challenges Love Themed challenge should give you plenty of ideas and inspiration! We would LOVE to see your Love themed creations too… don’t forget to enter the challenge over on the Inspire.Create.Challenges blog!

Heat embossed Valentines Card using Heart Happiness from Stampin' Up!

The Heart Happiness Stamp Set from the new Stampin’ Up! Spring Summer catalogue is full of fun hearts (not a sentiment in sight!) and it coordinates with TWO sets of dies too; Lots to Love Box Framelits and the Sweet and Sassy Framelits. However, I did hand cut the tall skinny heart without much issue.

I actually filmed watercolouring the floral heart, which I will share on my Instagram later on today. I used a combination of Powder Pink, Rose Red and Rich Razzleberry to colour the heart, and lots of layers of colour.

The other heart is stamped in Rich Razzleberry onto Vellum, and I hand cut it as I mentioned.

The sentiment is taken from the Petal Palette stamp set, stamped in Rose Red onto Shimmery White card stock. Before the ink was totally dry I rubbed over it with a dry-ish Aqua-Painter to create this watercolour wash effect. I have been loving using the Everyday Label punch, and I punched out the sentiment but it was a little big. So I trimmed it! I love the look actually.

Thanks for stopping by StampinByHannah today, and I cannot wait to see you Love themed creations over on Inspire.Create.Challenges!

Inspire.Create.Challenge Sketch Challenge using Fresh Floral from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah Inspire.Create.Challenge #008 Sketch Challenge

Inpsire.Create.Challenges Sketch challenge 008

This week’s Inspire.Create.Challenge is a fabulous sketch! I LOVE creating from a sketch and will often turn a sketch on its head and make something a little different. Seeing as the card I have created here is SO different from the sketch I thought I would share my process…. and I actually have a second card I made (first) with the same sketch coming later in the week!

How to use a sketch to make a card for Inspire.Create.Challenges using Stampin' Up! products

So, how on earth did I get to this card from that sketch… well, I have a few sketch tips to share with you:

  1. Literally turn the sketch on its head…. rotate it by 90 degrees, turn it upside down, flip it to the other side… a sketch can be really fluid and using one is all about interpretation
  2. Take on the elements…. take each element individually, and move it, change its size, or change the shape altogether!
  3. Play with colour…. remember that ultimately this is YOUR creation, and you can make it any colour, use any Designer Series Paper or stamps that you like
  4. Check out what other people have done with the same sketch…. sometimes the sketch just doesn’t jump out at you, so check out the Design Team’s work and see what they have done, maybe they have some inspiration for you! This is one of the reason’s I just LOVE a sketch challenge!

Inspire.Create.Challenge Sketch Challenge using Fresh Floral from Stampin' Up!

This particular card came to me at about 11PM, once I was in bed… and I did managed to sleep, but it was the first thing I did when I got up the next morning! I just adore this Designer Series Paper, it is Fresh Florals from the Annual catalogue and the pack is a bumper 40 sheets using the 2017-2019 In Colours. The paper coordinates perfectly with the Floral Phrases stamp set (that also has some fabulous dies to go with it too!).

Inspire.Create.Challenge December Colour Challenge

This weeks Inspire.Create.Challenge has a festive feel, however, I made a very conscious decision NOT to make a Christmas card this week. Partly because I have made more Christmas cards this year than I have people to send them too, and partly because tomorrow is the LAST day to shop Stampin’ Up! to ensure your goodies arrive before the man in the red suit, and so I would expect that you have probably finished making this years cards too!

How to make a quick and simple valentine using Lots of Love from Stampin' Up!

Keeping things pretty simple this week… I’m sure we have enough to do without making complicated cards too. So, it’s an almost one layer affair with a Big ol’ sentiment and some accent stamping!

I love this type of card for a quick ‘thinking of you’ or ‘thank you’ card. I thought this would be perfect for a simple Valentines, or even a sympathy card. There are lots of times we send Love… and why not send it handmade!

Inspire.Create.Challenges Colour Challenge December 2017 using Lots of Love from Stampin' Up!

All the stamps here are from the Lots of Love stamp set. I am LOVING big sentiments at the moment, ones that fill the front of your card and make sending that handmade Love really quick and easy. Once that sentiment is stamped in Crumb Cake, it’s a simple case of adding leaves and flowers in the other colours in key areas. When I’m accent stamping like this, I tend to go for 3 groups of stamped images, the same way I do when I’m added embellishments. The eye loves a trio of things, and it helps to pull you around the card too.

We would LOVE to see what you do with this colour combination, check out the other Design Team members creations over at Inspire.Create.Challenges!

Inspire.Create.Challenge #006 | Painted Harvest Fancy Fold

Inspire.Create.Challenge How to make a Fancy Fold card using Painted Harvest from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah Inspire.Create.Challenge #006 Painted Harvest Fancy Fold

This week’s Inspire.Create.Challenge is a theme… Now, I don’t really know what I was doing when I set this challenge. I also managed to complete forget about it, so when I was planning on Saturday afternoon and I suddenly realised that I needed to make a Fancy Fold card for this week’s challenge even I panicked! But, I turned to an old friend, and I think it turned out ok!

Inspire.Create.Challenges Theme Challenge Fancy Fold Cards

I do LOVE a good fancy fold. I have a heap of Fancy Fold video tutorials over on my YouTube channel if you want to check it out.

Inspire.Create.Challenge Theme Challenge Fancy Fold Cards Double Diamond Fold using Painted Autumn from Stampin' Up!

This is a Double Diamond fold card. They are super simple to put together…. the trick is all in the scoring! I have made these a couple of times now, and you can find the video tutorial for it HERE. This version uses Crushed Curry card stock for the base, with layers of Early Espresso card stock and Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper.

To create the perfect layers I used the Layering Squares Framelits dies.

Measurements:

Card base – Crushed Curry Card Stock – 4 x 10″ (10 x 25 cm)

Score on the long side at; 2, 4, 6 and 8″ (5, 10, 15 and 20 cm)

Score on the short side at; 2″ (5 cm)

Rotate the card stock back so that the long side is at the top, and then make two marks along the horizontal score line at 3 and 7″ ( 7.5 and 17.5 cm)

Inspire.Create.Challenges Double Diamond Fold Card using Painted Autumn from Stampin' Up!

The biggest issue when it comes to sending Fancy Fold card is of course the envelope! Stampin’ Up! have this covered with the Envelope Punch Board… Fully coordinating, perfectly sized envelopes in flash!

Measurements:

Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper : 7-7/8 x 7-7/8″ (I tend to stick to imperial measurements with the Envelope Punch Board, just feels easier!)

Punch and Score using the Envelope Punch Board at 3-3/8″ and then follow the score lines to punch and score on each side.
