I have a quick and fun Thoughtful Thursday project for you this week… a DIY Colouring Book. Adult colouring is such a big trend at the moment, and it’s always handy to be able to pull out a colouring book for a child at a moments notice… these are perfect for your handbag, ready for that quiet moment waiting for an appointment, or entertaining a child at dinner.

The cover is a single piece of Designer Series Paper, this one is taken from Eastern Palace (because I LOVE Fresh Fig!) and I have added a stamped panel using Crafting Forever, and a ribbon to keep the book closed.

Measurements:

Book Cover: Designer Series Paper; 10 x 6-1/4″ (25 x 16 cm), scored on the long edge at 5″ (12.5 cm)

Colouring Pages; Just Add Colour Designer Series Paper; 6 pieces measuring 6 x 4-1/2″ (15 x 11.5 cm), score each piece at 1/2″ (1.5 cm) on the right hand side

To secure pages I simply stapled the pages together and then used strong adhesive tape (Tear & Tape, or Red Line tape would work well) to stick the pages into the cover.

The Just Add Colour Speciality Designer Series Paper is 12 sheets of 12 x 12″ card stock weight paper, all printed with lovely line images that are just begging to be coloured in! These would be great paired with Stampin’ Blends, Stampin’ Write Markers or Watercolour Pencils, which you could pop into one of the Stampin’ Up! spare cases to keep everything contained.

Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge | August Blog Hop

Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge Friend Card using Eastern Palace from Stampin' Up!

Hello! so, I designed this card for the Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge…. but then my blog broke and I missed it! But I didn’t want you to miss this card… so here it is! You can check out the Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge Blog hop HERE!

Now the sketch showed 3 squares….. and well, I had to move them around! I’m sure if you have seen my takes on a sketch before you will know that I tend to move things, change shapes and do all sorts of other funny things to sketches! But I love my card!

I received the Layering Squares Framelits just before I made this card… can you tell that I LOVE them! The great thing about using dies to cut squares rather than hand cutting them is that, not only can you ensure that your squares are actually square, but also you can pair them with the matching layer!

I have stuck to a very simply colour scheme, using just Crumb Cake and Early Espresso for this card. But each square was treated very differently.

The bottom most square is stamped with Crumb Cake ink using the Eastern Palace stamp set, for a fun tone on tone effect. The next square was embossed using the Hexagon 3D Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, and the top square holds the sentiment stamped in Early Espresso. Each square also had a hint of a sponged edge also using Crumb Cake ink.

This card is finished with a double bow of Linen Thread, a hint of background stamping, and a trio of Jewel Rhinestones

Techniques Series: Masking

Oh, I am so excited! I have been trying to launch this series for a few weeks…. and I have finally managed to get a couple of tutorials filmed AND the blog post written!

Each week on a Friday I will be coming to you with a fun Technique… and the first few weeks are going to focus on Masking. I LOVE masking, but there are heaps of different ways to go about it, and so I thought I would share a few of those with you.

This first week I thought I would share the easiest Masking technique I know… using the Pattern Party Masks and ink!

Top Tips for masking:

Tape your card stock AND your mask down to your work surface; I will often use Sticky Notes or Sticky Note Tape, or Washi Tape to do this
Ensure that your Ink Pads are well inked
Dab your sponge into the ink and then onto the project, using a dabbing motion rather than a swirling motion ensures that all that lovely ink gets into the tight areas of the mask and onto the project rather than wasted

These fun cards use the Eastern Medallions Thinlits dies, and the Eastern Beauty Stamp set to create these fun and simple cards.

I love the look of the blue version, with some of the small pieces left in the die cut…. Which one is your favourite?

Hello! I love Make It Monday…. and I love it even more when it’s a quick and easy project like this one.

I love a cute note book, so handy for your handbag… although my husband rips the covers off and keeps them in his work uniform pocket!

See, I told you they were easy! This is one of those projects that Stampin’ Up! make super easy with coordinating card stock and Designer Series Paper. Here I have used the Eastern Palace suite – I am still totally in love with this DSP! or maybe its those new In-Colours….. or the dies! oh, I just love it all!

Measurements:

Card stock – 3 x 5″ (7.5 x 12.5 cm)

Score on the long side at 4 and 4 1/8″ (10.2 and 10.7 cm)

Designer Series Paper – 2 3/4 x 3 3/4″ (7 x 9.5 cm)

Make It Monday Video Tutorial making backgrounds with small stamps using Eastern Beauty from Stampin' Up!

Hello! long time no see… totally my fault of course, but I am back this week with my Make It Monday video and some fabulous sneak peak projects from the upcoming Annual Catalogue

I had loads of fun making this card, which is good really seeing as I have ended up making the exact same card 3 times… I explain why in the video

Top tips for creating fun backgrounds using small stamps:

use stamps of different sizes, stamping the larger stamps first and using smaller stamps to fill the gaps
choose whether you are looking for a regular pattern like I have for this card, or something more random
Stamp the same stamps in the same colours, but make sure that there are different colours across the stamped piece…. this card would look very different if all the stamping was in the same colour

Eastern Palace | Gold Foil Surprizes

Eastern Palace Suite Gold Foiled Card using Stampin' Up! products

One of my favourite things about the Eastern Palace suite is the Gold Foiling. I do love a bit of Gold!

The Designer Series Paper has two sheets of Gold Foiled paper, and what is lovely that they are single sided so you don’t have to choose. The other colours in the DSP include 3 of the 5 new In Colours (check out yesterday’s VIDEO to see them all), Tranquil Tide, Fresh Fig, Lemon Lime Twist… and one of the In Colours from the 2016-2018 collection; Dapper Denim.

This card uses Dapper Demin and Tranquil Tide along with the Gold Foiling and a hint of Whisper White. I am sure that this is a CASE of a card by Kylie Bertucci…. but I’ve been through her blog and can’t find it! I can see this card being stepped up further with some ribbon or bakers twine… and a few Rhinestone Jewels too.

Eastern Palace Suite | Hello

Cute Hello card using Eastern Beauty from Stampin' Up!

Like I mentioned yesterday, I have a whole week of projects this week featuring the Eastern Palace suite and exclusive bundles. You can find out more about these fabulous products HERE

I could not resist cutting that fabulous medallion / doily and backing it with Gold Glimmer paper! This card uses the brand new In Colour; Tranquil Tide… I have a whole video of In Colour goodness tomorrow… but for now just know that they are all stunning!

There are a heap of different combinations of these dies, giving you an endless variety of different medallions and doilies, flowers and decorative pieces. Some of the dies only cut the inside of the shape, while others cut the outside. To create this medallion, you also need the Layering Circle Framelits, because the largest of the dies used to create it only cuts the inside. I am seeing a version with a scalloped edge, and another in Glimmer paper…. might have to get back to the craft desk to make some more!

This card also uses a piece of the beautiful Eastern Palace Speciality Designer Series Paper. This paper features peacock inspired patterns and includes two pieces of Gold Foiled paper (hence the inspiration for the Gold on this card), and I have another card using even more Gold later in the week.
