You are a Fabulous Work of Art!

Simple simple simple card this week.

As I am sure you know by now, I love a clean, simple card! Most of my creations are single layer, and sometimes I might add a punched shape or two, but not often. Well, the card this week is exactly like that, but I have jazzed it up a bit with some 2 layer stamping AND 2nd generation stamping! get me!

Stampin Up UK Fabulous Work of Art<a href="//www.pinterest.com/pin/create/button/?

The card base (lost lagoon btw) is a piece of standard size cardstock (A4 or 8 1/2×11) cut cross ways and folded in half! Then I added a piece of Whisper White cut slightly smaller as my main (actually, only) layer.

Work of Art is a great stamp set (Love it, can you tell?!) and I selected several stamps from the set. The swoosh stamp is stamped once in Pool Party and then stamped again next to it as a place for the sentiment (which is stamped in Tangelo Twist – isnt it gorgeous!) and then I used the beautiful Lost Lagoon colour to stamp over the Pool Party for the long stamp and that lovely heart. Then the whole layer is attached to the card base on Dimensionals!

Simple!

Just for You!

Hello there!

I thought I try something a little different this week. Just like when I’m scrapbooking (something I havent shared much of with you yet – watch this space) I like to push myself and try something new. So, I had a look at a couple of challenges for this week and settled on the Around the World Stamping’ Up! challenge!

This time they have selected three colours to be used: Hello Honey, Blackberry Bliss and Calypso Coral.

Now, this is where I panicked! I don’t have Calypso Coral (yet!  still building my collection over here!). But then I realised something, I have all the Stampin’ Write Markers! So, actually I do have Calypso Coral – just not in a Stampin’ Pad! Silly! Have I mentioned the Stampin’ Write Markers to you guys yet? No? How have you escaped! I Love Them! The great thing about the markers is not only can you colour an image with them, write with them, draw with them, but you can Stamp with them to! Awesome!

Right, back to the Challenge. I looked at the colours, and I looked at my stamps, and I thoughts for about 3 days! and then suddenly, inspiration!

AW20 - challenge entry - Just For You

The Work of Art Stamp set has amazing background type images I love to use to ground other stamps on the card. I stamped the zig-zag / chevron image in Blackberry Bliss, before colouring between the lines with my Calypso Coral marker. I used Hello Honey to stamp the flowers, which I punched, and scrunched to give dimension, and then added the Just for You (this time colouring the stamp with that Calypso Coral marker). To finish I added a bit of bling with three jewels <3

Stampin’ Up! UK Everything Eleanor Card

So this card took me ages! and there is still something I’m not happy about, but its made now (and photographed, and now blogged) so it is what it is.

I am currently totally in love with Everything Eleanor, the swirl, the flowers, that fabulous journalling spot / ornate circle. So I wanted to create a multi-layered card with a number of the stamps from the set.Stampin Up! UK Stampinbyhannah Wish Big Everything EleanorThe card itself is a 5×5 inch square card. The swirl is stamped first, and in Smokey Slate, and I layered the frame over it in Daffodil Delight. The ornate circle, stamped on Whisper White in Temptin Turquoise, actually coordinated with the 2 1/2″ circle punch, but I preferred to fussy cut it.

The sentiment Wish Big, is another from A Dozen Thoughts. The get the two tone effect I used Stampin’ Write Markers to colour each word individually. Its then punched out using the 1″ circle punch, and backed by the 1 1/4″ scallop circle punched from Daffodil Delight cardstock. The 3 basic jewels were then added, before the card was assembled.

I really like the colour combination, and keep returning to it. Are there any colour combinations you use again and again?

Congratulations …. Zoo Babies Card

So, looking through my stash of items that haven’t been retired my stamp sets have dwindled a little, and forgot sets have been remembered, this one inparticular … Zoo Babies

SAM_0439

This card is super simple: Zoo Babies stamp set (isnt it just the cutest!), three colours picked from the suggested colour combinations in the Color Coach; Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise, and Daffodil Delight, on Whisper White cardstock. The Sentiment is also from the same stamp set, stamped in Melon Mambo onto a handcut Whisper White banner, and popped up on a couple of Dimentionals.

I love a card with a bit of white space!

Just because …… Who doesn’t love petals!

Our card for today uses the Petite Petals stamps and punch to give a fully coordinated look

The original card uses the new 2014-2016 In Colours: Blackberry Bliss, Lost Lagoon, and Hello Honey, along with Crumb Cake from the Neutrals collection, I changed it a little for the video, using Brights collection colours; Real Red, Bermuda Bay, and Daffodil Delight.

Stampin Up! Petite Petals in colours 2014

The card uses Whisper White cardstock, cut to 10 x5 inches, and scored at 5 inches, but you could totally adjust that to meet your own needs (and what you might have in your crafty stash)

Don’t forget if you like anything used on this card, you can check out my store at: stampinbyhannah.stampinup.net

Fathers Day

Fathers day is here once again (well it will be next weekend) and the stress of trying to make cards for men raises its ugly head.SAM_0353

This year I’ve struck lucky, and found the Wellington Bear collection from DoCrafts. Its a nice selection of masculine images along with a cute bear and some plain backing papers. I bought the 6×6 paper pack a good while ago but found it again during my craft room tidying and fell back in love with this adorable bear.

I have quite a selection of cards for fathers day this year, all made with Wellington.

I also used my Spellbinders Distress edges die, an edge punch and a simple stamp, to create a collection of simple layered cards

A bit of teabag folding

 SAM_0347

SAM_0345This beautiful card uses more of Papermania capsule collection, but this time in a way that is brand new to me – teabag folding. I was watching youtube last week, and came across this video, of a lady making this fold for the top of a box. I thought it was so pretty I had to give it a go! This was my third completed flower (the first I have already given away on a card, which I forgot to photograph!)

I added two layered buttons and some bakers twine to complete the flower before adding to a simple Get Well Soon card

Flower Shop

Yesterday we talked about the different ways of using a flower punch, so today I thought I’d put my flower punching skills to good use and make a card!

Stampin Up! Flower shop

This card uses the Flower Shop stamp set from Stampin Up! along with the coordinating Pansy Punch. This combination requires some careful planning as the stamp and punch only line up one way. My suggestion, and the general consensus, is to punch a piece of scrap cardstock, turn the piece over and mark which end is the top and which is the bottom. Then you can lay this over your stamp, the stamp is the correct way round when the punch image fits over it perfectly, then mark which point of your stamp matches the bottom of the punch and make sure to always orientate it on your block this way round.

This time I stamped in Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight and Real Red, and used basic black to stamp the sentiment. Unfortunately, this stamp is from a now retiring hostess set, Simply Sketched, but any sentiment would work just as well. The flowers were then punched out using the Pansy Punch, before being layered onto the card, some flat and some on dimentionals. You could add more to this card, some jewels or pearls in the centre of the flowers, or heat embossing the sentiment, but sometimes something simple is just as good

Dont forget to check out the shop for other retiring items

Buttons!

SAM_0363

I have recently discovered the joys of buttons! This was made all the easier by Hobbycraft, and their packs of 100g of buttons for £1! I’m trying not to spend a the moment, saving for some larger purchases (I’m very excited about what it soon to arrive), but such a stash of buttons for a pound I could not say no! There is a decent selection of colours and chose both within the packs, and of the packs themselves, I grabbed brights and basic black and white. All the buttons in the packs are different but of good quality (although I’m not sure they’d stand up to being worn on clothing). I had to quickly put this card together some of my favourites, and a simple birthday greeting, I stick my buttons on with Glossy Accents from Ranger (also available and hobbycraft)
