Wedding Week – Congrats to you two….

Stampin' Up! UK wedding card

I hope you are enjoying my week of Wedding themed projects!

Today I thought we would move away from being part of the wedding party, and make a card as a wedding guest – the perfect congratulations card. I get married in August and if I receive just one hand stamped card like this one I will be a super happy bride! Saying that I won’t be opening any cards until 3 weeks after the wedding, after several members of my family have been cat sitting in my house, so I might even get this card!

Stampin' Up! UK wedding card

Its another super simple card from me, I’m loving white space at the moment. I’m not sure if that’s just my style (it always was when I made 12×12 scrapbook layouts) or whether its just because my head is so full of wedding planning and work that I need some space somewhere!

Using the Your Perfect Day stamp set (about to retire! so grab it now!) the cake is stamped in Sahara sand stamped off once. The Congrats was then stamped over the top in Versamark ink and heat embossed in gold.

So pretty

Freshly Made Sketches #187 – Just For You!

Hello!

I am so sorry I missed my challenge Saturday last week, but I was at Stampin’ Up! Regional Training (having heaps of fun!) and in my excitement I completely forgot! Shocking I know, But I am back this week playing along with Freshly Made Sketches #187, and this fabulous sketch:

FMS Final 187-001

I love this sketch, it really pushed me. I’ve been stuck in a bit of a craft rut recently, or, as my darling mother said the other day “your cards are always muted!” (thanks mother!), and so I grabbed for a set of super bright colours; the new In Colours Watermelon Wonder and Cucumber Crush!

I will admit to being a little scared of the brightness of these two; Watermelon Wonder is an almost Neon Corally Orange, while Cucumber Crush is a vivid green, definitely not colours I would have chosen of my own accord, but absolutely one of the reasons I love Stampin’ Up! and playing along with challenges, so….

The Card!

Stampin' Up! UK Freshly Made Sketches Cherries on top

I decided seeing as I was using new colours, I might as well go the whole hog and use new stamps and Designer Series Paper too!

The Designer Series Paper is Cherry on Top; and is a fabulous mix of bright colours and birthday prints, paired with the coordinating Washi Tape. While the stamp set is called You’re So Sweet – I love this set, its great for adding a special something to a present, or using as a card accent, and it coordinates (and is available bundled with….) the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits dies! Awesome!

The heart is punched from Watermelon Wonder card stock and adhered with half a dimensional before I covered it in Crystal Effects for a super shiny look.

All these products will be available to purchase from the 2nd June (or now if you choose to become a demonstrator!). I will be sending catalogues this coming week, to get your FREE copy (UK only – sorry) fill in this form!

Watercolour Stamping

As you may be able to tell I love watercolouring with my stamps; either sprintzing water onto my inked stamp, adding water to a stamped image or using my inks to colour an image, and I just couldn’t let this card onto the blog without a very short video!

Stampin' Up! UK watercolour butterfly basics

Isn’t this card just so pretty!

I do have a bit of a top tip for using that sentiment; use the top edge of the stamp to ensure your stamp is stamped straight, if you line the top edge of the stamp up with the top of you block when positioning, you can then line the block up with your card stock to ensure your sentiment is straight.

Stampin' Up! UK butterfly basics video tutorialHow to:

Cut your sheet of Early Espresso card stock in half, and fold in half to create your card base. Measure the front or your card and cut a piece of Stampin’ Up! watercolour paper to half a centimetre (or 1/4″) shorter and narrower

Ink the fern stamp up with Sahara Sand ink and stamp 3 times in the bottom right hand corner of your watercolour paper.

Ink you flower stamp up with Rich Razzleberry, and mist with water, the amount of water you mist the more the ink will move, causing the two different effects as seen above, stamp over the top of the ferns. Allow this to dry, either naturally or with the assistance of a heat tool.

Ink the postage label in Early Espresso and stamp three times around the flowers.

Stamp the sentiment in the bottom left using Early Espresso.

Mount the watercolour paper to the front or your card base using Fast Fuse adhesive.

Big News…. It’s Your Birthday!

Big News being the name of the stamp set I’ve used here.

Stampin' Up! UK Big News Birthday card

I recently managed to order a second ink pad in this colour; Tempting Turquoise – very unlike me as I almost always consult my marked catalogue before ordering, in fact it didn’t even register as a colour I already owned until I tired to put it away! I keep all my inks in a Colour Caddy, in alphabetical order by colour family, so it was really easy to spot that I had managed to duplicate! Oops!

Anyway, the card. I just love the Big News stamp set, it has a great collection of useful sentiments for birthdays, weddings, and just being awesome! And so the ‘its your birthday’ is stamped in Tempting Turquoise, while the candles are in Pacific Point, coloured with Soft Sky, Pumpkin Pie and Rose Red Stampin’ Write Markers

A great, simple, birthday card. Perfect for those awkward men!

There is nothing in the Caterpillar….

That tells you it is going to be a butterfly, however, there are no Caterpillars in sight here, just beautiful butterflies!

Stampin' Up! UK Butterfly Basics die cut butterflyWe are just a few short weeks away from launching our brand new set of In-Colours, I thought I would use one of the current In-Colours – just to prove that I still love them! This is Blackberry Bliss, a gorgeous rich purple (I am still totally in love with this colour). I have to say, I have already seen the next set of In-Colours, and by the time you read this I will have them in my inky fingers, and I think they are great additions to our colour line. In-Colours stick around for 2 years, so Blackberry Bliss (and Hello Honey, Lost Lagoon, Mossy Meadow, and Tangelo Twist) is still around for another 12 months! Yay!

This card uses the Butterfly Basics bundle (that’s carrying over into the new Annual catalogue by the way!). The Butterfly is die cut from BlackBerry Bliss card stock, and Vellum, while the other elements are stamped in Blackberry Bliss ink onto Very Vanilla card stock.

So pretty, and really simple to stamp to!

Stamp Thumping

Its Tuesday, Technique Tuesday! and I have a great technique for you this week!

Stamp Thumping

Now, I do not want you to go around hitting your stamps. Love them, treasure them, treat them well (clean them and condition them with Stampin’ Mist, please!) but this thumping technique is a great way to use your stamps with your Stampin’ Write Markers.

Stampin' Up! UK petal Potpourri

I love being about to get a variety of colour on one stamp. This technique works especially well with tree stamps (I think it would be gorgeous with Sheltering Tree or Lovely as a Tree), but I didn’t have any to hand, so I went with flowers instead. I adore this stamp, I love the whole set actually, Petal Potpourri is a great collection of flowers (and a doily) that coordinated with the fabulous Flower Medallion punch.

How to:

Select 3 colours of Stampin’ Write Marker – the image above uses Rose Red, Rich Razzleberry and Melon Mambo, whereas the video uses Crumb Cake, Soft Suede and Early Espresso

Make sure your stamp is clean (this is the step I missed! silly me!)

Select your lightest colour first, remove the cap from the brush top of your Stampin’ Write Marker and hold the marker near the cap of the opposite end between your index finger and your thumb.

Bounce (or thump) the side of the brush tip off of the stamp.

Repeat with other colour, misting the stamp with water lightly before stamping onto Whisper White card stock

Freshly Made Sketches #185 – Vivid Vases

I’m still loving playing along at Freshly Made Sketches and this weeks sketch is awesome…

Freshly Made Sketches 185

This card took me a while, mainly because I took it in a completely different direction to start with! I stamped the Vivid Vases onto Whisper White card stock first, and started to colour it with my Stampin’ Write markers – but something just wasn’t right, and currently when something’s not quite right, where do I go? Water! well, water on Whisper White doesn’t really work, well, not as well as it does on Watercolour paper anyway. So, I started again, this time stamping on watercolour paper and using my Stampin’ Write Markers to watercolour the vases.

Stampin' Up! UK Vivid Vases Freshly Made Sketches

I used Bermuda Bay, Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise, Rich Razzleberry, and Marina Mist, to watercolour the vases, before using the same markers directly onto the paper to colour the flowers. I added some Pear Pizzazz for some added greenery before trimming and mounting onto some Dimensionals.

The two painted lines are from Work of Art, and are stamped in Bermuda Bay and Marina Mist. And I finished the card by stamping the sentiment from Vivid Vases using Memento Black ink

Indescribable Thanks…

This card has been sat on my desk for a few weeks now. This happens sometimes, I make a batch of cards, and some of them get blogged about immediately and others have to wait. This card was actually intended for a Saturday Challenge post, as it was actually based on a cards sketch. But the dates past and I forgot to upload it! silly me!

But, it still gets its spot on the blog!

Stampin' Up! UK Indescribable gift thank you

This card is actually no longer in my possession either, as it also made it to the top of the Thank You card pile! Sometimes I batch make customer Thank You cards and sometimes I just use the cards I have made as blog samples – either way the cards you receive will have usually either been on the blog or are scheduled to be!

I also did something I don’t usually do with this card – I used 3 stamp sets! yes, 3! I try to keep my cards to 1 or 2 stamp sets, otherwise you are going to have to spend a whole heap of money to make the cards I make – and I don’t like that idea! So, I try to keep my blog projects to minimal supplies, and give you more ideas to use the items you buy over and over – I’d rather you got more for your money!

So, the 3 stamp sets I’ve used here are: Big News (for the thank you), Indescribable Gift (for the gorgeous flower blossom) and Sophisticated Serifs (for that great rectangle stamp!).

Stampin' Up! UK big news thank you card

However, I only used two colours – Lost Lagoon and Melon Mambo – varying the shade of the colour by either stamping off once, or (like around the Whisper White panel) using Vellum.

Stampin’ With Embossing Folders

You may have guessed by now, I love a good stamping technique! And I have to say, this is one I had never thought of… Until I saw this video from Stampin’ Up!

Isn’t it awesome! I just HAD to have a go!

Stampin' Up! UK Stamping with embossing folders

I had such a great time trying this out (so much that I have another card using this technique next week!) In fact I have sort of combined techniques to create my own super patterned paper! To use your embossing folders as stamps – apply the ink to the raised side of the embossing folder directly from your ink pad, carefully place your card stock onto the inked area and close the folder. Rub you bone folder across the embossing folder to press the ink onto the card stock.

Then, using a sponge dauber or Stampin’ sponge, apply ink through a mask to the card stock. And wha-la! (I’m not sure that’s actually a word, but I’m rolling with it)

(watch me roll!)

I even made you lovely people a video to demonstrate!

Aren’t they so cute! I love any opportunity to use my favourite childhood stamp set, Zoo Babies! and couldn’t pass this as a chance to make a couple of baby cards.

Flower Power….

In just under a fortnight I will be attending Stampin’ Up! regional training. Stampin’ Up! events really are something to behold, the sight of hundreds of women (and men) dancing around, waving their arms, and screaming at the tops of the lungs for free products as part of prize patrols, really is something you have to witness to understand. I LOVE attending Stampin’ Up! events, they are definitely a highlight of being a demonstrator (for a full list see HERE!).

A big part of these events is swaps, and last week I started to prepare mine. Swapping is like a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator tradition – each demonstrator makes a pile of card fronts, or 3D items, or anything really with Stampin’ Up! products, and takes them to swap with other demos. Its a great way of not only getting a massive amount of inspiration, but also meeting new friends (and getting a whole heap of chocolate!).

So, I thought I was going to use Flower Patch to make my swaps this year. I stamped and stamped and stamped, in just about every colour, with every stamp in the set – and could I find something I wanted to make 50 of? Nope….. But, I did make this card, which I do LOVE!

Stampin' Up! UK Flower Patch Swaps

I love the layered look this stamp set creates. Here I have layered Pink Pirouette and Blackberry Bliss to create some gorgeous blooms, finished off with some Lost Lagoon accent flowers. This stamp set also has an awesome coordinating die set (and they come bundled together for 15% off!), to fussy cut this lovely blooms without any of the fuss!

I adore the sentiments in this stamp set ‘You Overwhelm Me with You Awesomeness’ – I was hoping to include this in my swaps, just because I love seeing what other Demonstrators produce, I think they are all super awesome and talented – however, I have an even better swap idea – so watch this space!
