Ink Splatter Two Ways

Stampin' Up! UK Ink Splatter Gorgeous Grunge Watercolour Thank you

Slightly different style of video for you today. I am going to try some different videos over the next few weeks, thinking of trying some ‘craft along’ type videos. I wanted to show you the two ways I most commonly make ink splatters. I love this look, although I don’t share it very often, I do use both of these methods to create this effect

Stampin' Up! UK Ink Splatter Gorgeous Grunge Watercolour Thank you

As you will see in the video I wasn’t really sure where I was going with this card. I had pulled this stamp, as well as as Cucumber Crush and Watermelon Wonder inks, the card base and a Whisper White matt.

There are two different types of ink splatter here (well, its almost three, but I want you to ignore the large Cucumber Crush Splat for the moment).

The Watermelon Wonder ink splatters are watered down ink, splattered onto the card stock with a paint brush, whilst the Cucumber Crush ones are a stamp! Can you tell the difference? because I can’t! How cool is that!

What do you think? Which is your favourite ink splat method?

Perpetual Birthday Card!

Stampin' Up! UK Perpetual Birthday Calendar Pootles

I’m currently preparing for my Perpetual Birthday Calendar Kit Class at the weekend. (I’m sure to repeat this one, just let me know if you’d be interested!) and so the stamps have been out on my table, and I just had to use them on a card! My wonderful Upline Pootles regularly uses this stamp sets on cards, so I think I was channelling my inner Pootler with this one! I’ve even used Glimmer paper!

As you probably know by now I’m in the final few weeks before my Wedding! (almost sorted!) and so am also making heaps of cards as Thank you’s for various people. I will share some of these while I’m on my honeymoon, but I though I would share this one a little earlier (I know James doesn’t read the blog so I know he’s not going to see this!)

Stampin' Up! UK Perpetual Birthday Calendar Pootles

I bought I’m a special gift to open on the day, and needed a card to go with it. This is perfect!

I don’t usually do loads of layers, but like I said, channelling my inner Pootler here – the card base is a piece of Real Red card stock cut to 4 x 8″ and scored at 4″ to make a 4×4 card base. The layers are then Very Vanilla (3 3/4 x 3 3/4″), Gold Glimmer Paper (3 x 3″), Real Red (2 3/4 x 2 3/4″), and Very Vanilla (2 1/2 x 2 1/2″).

The stamping is also in Real Red using that cute scattered heart stamp from the Perpetual Birthday Calender stamp set.

What do you think?

Card Storage Box

Stampin' Up! UK card storage box cherry on top DSP

There are a stack of these floating around on Pinterest, but I just had to put my own spin on it. The Classic Card Box. I wanted a box specifically to hold cards and envelopes while they wait to go to customers. Did you know that I always send a ‘Thank You’ card when you place an order in my store? If you have ordered and haven’t received a card it may be that you have selected ‘No Contact’ drop me an email if you think I’ve missed you.

Stampin' Up! UK card storage box video tutorial

The first box uses Lost Lagoon card stock, and a piece of that lovely Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack. Whereas the video version is in Bermuda Bay with a piece of Cherry on Top Designer Series Paper. I grabbed the Cherry on Top DSP during demonstrator Pre-Order, purely because it was available to me! Demonstrators get the chance to order from a sample of product before the big launch! and I have to say, looking at the pictures in the Catalogue, I’m not sure that I would have ordered if it hadn’t been in that pre-order selection. And I would have missed out! Because it is fabulous! Featuring Bermuda Bay, Cucumber Crush, Crushed Curry, Pool Party, Tip Top Taupe and Watermelon Wonder, and a collection of birthday themed papers with some great patterns; it would look fab as part of a Project Life album! I might even have to order a second pad!

Measurements:

Card stock – 12 x 8″ (30.5 x 20.5 cm)

Score on the long side at – 4 1/2, 5 3/4, 10 1/4, and 11 1/2″ (11.5, 14.5, 26, and 29 cm)

Score on the short side at – 1 1/4″ (3 cm) turn the card stock around and score in the wide section nearest the skinny flap at 1 1/2″ (4 cm)

Designer Series Paper – 4 1/4 x 5″ (11 X 12.5 cm)

Endless Hip Hip Hooray!

Stampin' Up! UK Endless Birthday Wishes Card CASE catalogue

After saying on Tuesday that it’s been a while since I did a CASE card, I have two in one week! This card is inspired by one on page 7 of the new Annual Catalogue, although different enough that you probably wouldn’t know!

I’ve been playing with the new Endless series of stamps; we have two of these great sets – Endless Birthday Wishes (which I have used here) and Endless Thanks. They are both Photopolymer sets, featuring a series of words and phases in a mixture of a tiny typed typeface and a scripty handwritten font. Just lovely!

Stampin' Up! UK Endless Birthday Wishes Card CASE catalogue

The cake was stamped onto a scrap of watercolour paper using Stazon Black, my favourite ink for water-colouring. Before colouring the cake with Rose Red Ink with less water for the top and bottom, and more water in the middle. The cake stand is in Tip Top Taupe, and the candles are pure Crushed Curry. I’ve also added a background wash of Soft Sky and quite a lot of water to ground that cake, it appeared to sort of float before!

That piece of watercolour paper is attached to a matt of Pink Pirouette, stamped with the dots stamp from the same set in the same colour ink, with some Dimensionals and with a piece of Crumb Cake Stitched Satin Ribbon sandwiched in between. Before mounting the whole piece onto a Sahara Sand card base.

So pretty!

Stamp Layering…A Great CASE!

Stampin' Up! UK Awesomely Artistic

I’m slowly working my way through a massive list of techniques to try (anyone else write a heap of lists?) including the techniques listed in the latest Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalogue (Have you got yours yet?)

I am loving the Artistic Expression section of the catalogue, and the techniques listed there. I know I’ve done this one before, but I just love the sample in the book, and really wanted to CASE it. It’s been a whiles since I did a CASE card – Copy and Share Everything! I love doing this, particularly around a new catalogue launch, giving the samples my own twist.

Stampin' Up! Awesomely Artistic

So, that’s the Stampin’ Up! version, and I have changed it up slightly, check out the video below to see how I did!

Stampin' Up! UK Stamp Layering Awesomely Artistic Video Tutorial

I got the chance to play with this stamp set for the first time at Regional Training back in May, before it’s release! and we made a great Make and Take which I shared recently. Awesomely Artistic is one of the stamp sets designed for Stamp Layering; where you layer stamped images on top of each other to create a collage effect.

I have also used a few pieces of Designer Series Paper on this card; I’m trying really hard to use more DSP on my cards at the moment and have another using it later in the week. This card uses little pieces of the Neutral Designer Series Paper Stack (I’m sorry, I made this card before it was unavailable, but it WILL be back really soon!) and that lovely Typeset Speciality paper that I am completely in love with!

This stamp set also coordinates with a set of framelits, the Project Life Cards and Labels Framelits, but I have to say I don’t own them. However, this label is so easy to fussy cut even I did it!

An Open Heart

Stampin' Up! UK An Open Heart Thank You Card

Today is the closing date for my July Technique class! We are making 5 cards with this wonderful stamp set, An Open Heart, featuring some wonderful techniques including playing with vellum and ink smooshing! (I’m totally in love with that technique!)

As you may already know I plan my blog ahead of time, I fit this in around some other work commitments, and so scheduling is a must! So, when I was planning this weeks worth of posts I knew I wanted to share a bright card with you using this great stamp set. I think its so versatile, and although I have used the ‘Thank You’ sentiment from the set, you could just as easily add ‘Happy Birthday’ or ‘Congratulations’ to these images and it wouldn’t look odd.

Stampin' Up! UK An Open Heart Thank You Card

The card base here is Tempting Turquoise, with a layer of Whisper White. I love this colour combination; Tempting Turquoise, Old Olive and Real Red. The stamping here is simple, taking things back to my simple stamping roots! You could spend hours colouring these images with your Blender pen or AquaPainters, (but I will show you some quick tips in my Technique class!), but I love the look of these just stamped too.

What’s your favourite colour combination of the moment?

Pootler’s Blog Hop | Watercolour Wings

Stampin' Up! UK Watercolour wings cards

Pootlers Blog Hop-001

Hello!

Welcome to the Pootler’s blog hop! I am so excited for this hop, the lovely ladies in the team have worked so hard to create some wonderful projects (I’ve had a sneak peak, so impressed!). Please take your time around the hop, the girls would love some comments too!

Thanks

When I first saw this years catalogue this stamp set really intrigued me. The image in the catalogue is very dark, but the sample is amazing! I have to say though, I wasn’t completely convinced until I saw Sarah Berry’s lovely creations at Regional Training back in May; she created a series of wonderful cards using this set and gave us some great tips too!

Srtampin' Up! UK Watercolour Wings

Isn’t it lovely? I just love the layered nature of these stamps. The set includes two butterflies, one large and one small, over 3 stamps so you get a multi-layered image. This card I have also used one of the accent pieces to create a background and used one of the sentiment stamps. The butterfly has been die cut using the coordinating Bold Butterfly framelits dies, although the set also coordinates with the Butterflies Framelits (and Butterfly Basics!)

Stampin' Up! UK Pootles Blog Hop

I love this card! Instead of stamping the solid layer of the butterfly, I created a mask using copier paper and used my Sponge Daubers to create the butterfly. You can see this better in the video!

I created this set of three cards after making one; also using the masking technique to create the butterfly first, then adding layers. This time I only added the detailed stamp using White Craft Ink.

Stampin' Up! UK Watercolour wings video

Which card is your favourite, I have to say I think the one I created in the video is mine, I’m just loving the Watermelon Wonder colour!

The best is yet to come…

Stampin' Up! UK Best Thoughts

I love this sentiment, it is so true! I am loving my journey as a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, and I know the best is yet to come!

Stampin' Up! UK Best Thoughts blender pen on vellum

The flower here is stamped in Stazon Black on Vellum, and then coloured using Watermelon Wonder and Cucumber Crush using my Blender Pens. The blender pens work amazingly on Vellum, because its a very smooth surface the ink takes longer to dry which means you have longer to blend them with the blender pen. Let me know if you fancy a tutorial video on this!

The vellum is mounted on Whisper White card stock, but with the stamped image facing the card stock, giving a softer look. The sentiment is also stamped in Stazon ink but on the outside of the vellum, so its darker than the lines of the flower. The Vellum is stuck onto the card stock using Fast Fuse – Fast Fuse is completely clear and so is great for using with vellum, still I always try and apply it under a coloured section or embellishment

I love the designer series paper mount too, its a sheet from the Cherry on Top DSP stack, and the card is finished with a couple of pieces of Cherry on Top Washi Tape

Just before I go, you only have a few more days to book onto my latest Technique Class using An Open Heart – Class costs £10 – Booking closes on Monday!

Watercolour Stamping with Stampin’ Write Markers

Stampin' Up! UK Watercolour stamping markers I think you're great

I find myself reaching for my Stampin’ Write markers often. They are the same ink as the Stampin’ Up! Classic Ink you’ll find in our ink pads, but in the convenience of a pen. There are so many techniques that use these pens; from watercolouring to stamping, using them like felt tips, or just a quick ink.

Stampin' Up! UK Watercolour stamping markers I think you're great

I use Stampin’ Write makers for technique like this one quite often, they are a great way to ink a stamp with several colours; whether you are colouring a bird or flower, or just creating a great background like this one.

The Stampin’ Write makers have two tips; a fine point great for journalling in you Project Life albums, and a brush tip wonderful for colouring images or stamps.

How To:

Select a few Stampin’ Write markers; here I have used Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry, Bermuda Bay and Island Indigo.

Using the brush tip of your marker on its side, scribble the colour into your stamp

Once your stamp is covered in ink, spritz with water

Stamp onto your card stock (I used Whisper White for this card, but it works wonderfully with Watercolour paper too!), holding the stamp to the card stock for a few seconds to allow the ink to soak into the paper

Stampin' Up! UK I think you're great

The sentiments used here are both from the I Think You’re Great stamp set, and are stamped in Tip Top Taupe before being fussy cut with my Paper Snips and added to the card with some Dimensionals

I think my favourite is the ‘Way to Go’ card, what about you?
