Half Full Birthday Card

Red Wine Watercolour Birthday card using Half Full from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah Half Full Birthday Card

I realised on Sunday morning that I hadn’t made a Birthday card for my mum (her birthday was yesterday!). Does this happen to other people? I make mountains of cards, but actually remembering to make a card for a loved one seems to fall off my radar! But it’s OK, because I realised also that I had a new stamp set in my collection! Half Full is a fabulous wine-theme’d stamp set, designed by Million Dollar seller Linda Bauwin, and gifted to me by my team leader at team training last weekend.

Watercoloured Wine Birthday Card using Half Full from Stampin' Up! by StampinByHannah

The Half Full stamp set can be found in the Autumn Winter catalogue, and comes with a bunch of fun Christmas-y sentiments, but nothing for birthday. So, I grabbed by favourite Happy Birthday stamp from the Butterfly Basics stamp set, and stamped it in Basic Black into Crushed Curry card stock.

My mum LOVES Red Wine… and so I pulled out Cherry Cobbler ink for the wine, and set about watercolouring! I haven’t watercoloured in a while (I know, it’s shocking!)… but this stamp set is just perfect for watercolour, or Stampin’ Blends. I love the watercolour effect here, created using a almost dry Aqua-Painter and several layers of ink…. and I might have had some kitchen roll to blot some of the excess ink off too.

The card is finished with a bow in Garden Green Stitched Satin Ribbon, and a strip of Champagne Foil!

Thoughtful Thursday Fresh Floral Designer Series Paper Birthday Card for my Sister in Law using Stampin' Up! products

StampinByHannah Thoughtful Thursday Fresh Floral Birthday Card
Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator StampinByHannah Thoughtful Thursday

Oh I do love a good theme-d series here at StampinByHannah! This week sees the start of something I have been working on for AGES! Thoughtful Thursday!

Now… I will be using these Thursday blog post to share the cards I make for specific people, including birthday cards, thinking of you cards, and card just because. I LOVE sending an unexpected card, they are just so much fun!

Happy Birthday Gorgeous Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper Birthday Card using Stampin' Up! Products

So today’s card might not be the most unexpected card ever… but it is the first birthday card I have made for this person! My Brother’s fiancee, Rebecca. It was her birthday last weekend, and I’m not sure she even knows that I write this blog so it is definitely safe to share it here today!

This card is also a second take on the Inspire.Create.Challenges sketch challenge for this week (You should TOTALLY check out what the Design Team has made this week, they are Awesome!)

Thoughtful Thursday Fresh Floral Designer Series Paper Birthday Card for my Sister in Law using Stampin' Up! products

I am ever so slightly obsessed with this Designer Series Paper for fabulous Birthday cards at the moment. I made a card for my Sister-In-Law, Bella’s 18th Birthday using it last week! It is the Fresh Floral’s Designer Series Paper Stack… a classic mix of floral patterns, perfect for birthdays (or any occasion) all in this years In-Colours. This stack is bigger than the standard Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Paper packs, but it is well worth it, I use it all the time!

The Happy Birthday Thinlit is totally the star of this show though. Die cut 3 times, twice in Fresh Fig and once in the Beautiful Champagne Foil and stacked for extra dimension. It makes for a great centre-piece on your Birthday projects. I always apply the Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets the back of my card stock before I die cut this die, it just makes it SO much easier to stick together!

Inside a Fresh Florals Birthday card

I couldn’t leave the inside of this card plain. So I added a sheet of Whisper White card stock, with strip of that Fresh Floral’s Designer Series Paper and a splatter of Fresh Fig ink too.

I hope Rebecca LOVED this card as much as I do….

Inspire.Create.Challenges #005 | Season’s Greetings

Inspire.Create.Challenges Sketch Challenge using Year of Cheer from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah Inspire.Create.Challenges #005 | Season’s Greetings

This week’s Inspire.Create.Challenge is my personal favourite, we are using a Sketch this week! I LOVE a sketch, partly because I LOVE moving all the elements around and making something that looks nothing like the sketch at all, and partly because I love seeing what other people do with them!

I haven’t altered the sketch very much this week because I needed a quick card because I was away at Stampin’ Up! OnStage last weekend time hasn’t been my friend.

Inspire Create Challenges Stampin' Up! sketch challenge

As the challenge coordinator for Inspire.Create.Challenges I have been aiming to keep our sketches nice and simple. One so that it’s not a lot of work for the AWESOME Design Team, but also to make sure they aren’t too complex for a new card maker to follow along with. I LOVE this sketch, you guys know how much I use my circle dies… and this sketch just gave me another excuse to get them out (not that I needed one!)

Silver Christmas Card for Inspire.Create.Challenges using Year of Cheer from Stampin' Up!

This card uses the lovely Year of Cheer Designer Series Paper (Can you tell I’m in love with this a bit at the moment, it was on my Christmas Countdown project last week too!). The paper does come in Whisper White, with Metallic foiling (Yum!), but I have added colour here with a Sponge Brayer. So, I had intended for the added colour to be Smoky Slate to match the card base, but apparently my Sponger Brayer wasn’t quite as clean as I thought I was! I made 8 of these, and some of them have more than a hint of Tranquil Tide about them!

Measurements:

Card Base – Smoky Slate – 21 x 14.85 cm, scored on the long edge at 10.5 cm

Whisper White Layer – 14.3 x 10 cm

Year of Cheer Designer Series Paper – 9.5 x 4.7 cm

Inspire.Create.Challenges Sketch Challenge using Year of Cheer from Stampin' Up!

The sentiment circle is taken from the Cheers to the Year stamp set. I decided to embrace the Tranquil Tide and go with some stamping and card stock in the same colour, while the sentiment picks up on the hint of metallic from the Designer Series Paper and is Heat Embossed in Gold.

I thought that was going to be the card finished, but it just looked a little bare. So, I hit my ribbon draw and came up with this really pretty 1/8″ Sheer Ribbon in Whisper White for some cute bows.

I cannot wait to see what you make with this sketch! Don’t forget to join in over at Inspire.Create.Challenges.

International Blog Highlight | Love

Pretty Love card using Touches of Texture from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah International Blog Highlight | Love

Before I get started with tonight’s blog post, I just want to take a moment to celebrate. As I logged into my blog to write this post I happened to note the number of posts I have written – 999 – which makes THIS blog post, post number 1000! So, as you read this blog post, I just want to say Thanks! Thanks for stopping by, Thanks for supporting my business… do check out the rest of my blog (maybe not all of it! that may take a while) and a comment or two on your travels.

Kylies International Blog Highlight banner

This month’s Blog Highlight theme is; Love.

Now, November is not a very Love-y month in my household. It’s halfway between our wedding anniversary and our dating anniversary, although it is the month my parents got married. Still, things are busy busy around here at the moment with issues around the sale of our home, James’ finishing his degree and me being away for 2 weeks this month.

However, I recently listened to a Podcast about developing gratitude (I’m on a bit of a self-help kick at the moment in a bid to ward off my worsening anxiety) which suggested writing love notes to your spouse. This is something we have NEVER done, but I think the idea is lovely…. so, this card is heading for my wonderful Husband James.

Love you card using Touches of Texture from Stampin' Up!

I know he will say its girly, but that is fine…. I had LOADS of fun making it, and it’s what I write inside that is most important anyway!

So… this card, there are 2 stamp sets at work here; Touches of Texture and Labeler Alphabet. Touches of Texture is one of those stamp sets that I LOVE, but find REALLY hard to use! I actually made this card twice, the first time I layered loads of the texture stamps together, it looked like a dogs dinner and I turned the card stock over and started again! (Never forget, there are two sides to a piece of card stock!)

Pretty Love card using Touches of Texture from Stampin' Up!

The side of the card is stamped in Pear Pizzazz. I think this is my favourite stamp in this set, its looks like a sample of a piece of vintage lace; very pretty. I made some wedding table settings with it a few months ago that were stamped in Sahara Sand on Very Vanilla it looked very classic.

It just looked a little plain with just the stamping, so I added a piece of Gold Washi Tape from the Year of Cheer Washi Pack.

The flowers are stamped in Archival Basic Black, and coloured in using Watercolour Pencil and Blender pen. I haven’t used my Watercolour Pencils for AGES,  and with the launch of Stampin’ Blends at the start of the month I realised that they had been sat on my shelf unloved. The flowers were the die cut using the largest oval Stitched Shapes framelit, and some Gold Heat Embossed splatter added thanks to the Touches of Texture stamp set again!

Inside of Love card for Kylies Blog Highlight using Touches of Texture from Stampin' Up!

I even managed to stamp the inside of this card with the Touches of Texture stamp set, picking up on the colours from the flowers on the front.

I hope that you have enjoyed my project this evening. Do check out Kylie’s Blog for the other wondering Love themed projects and don’t forget to vote for your favourite too!

Global Design Project 113 | Colour Challenge

Global Design Project Merry Christmas Card using Snowflake Sentiments from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah Global Design Project 113 Colour Challenge

I have NO idea what has happened this morning, I wrote a blog post, I published it, and then it magically disappeared! I have no idea what happened, other than the fact that when I went to copy the link the post was gone! I know that you will already have had this post in your email inboxes….and I am sorry for it appearing again.

I LOVE this colour combination from the Global Design Project this week. It screamed Christmas at me and so a Christmas card is what I made!

Global Design Project Colour Combination

I have a bit of a thing at the moment for colouring Designer Series Paper, and I have recently pulled out all of the Designer Series Paper from the Autumn / Winter catalogue and put it on my desk so it gets used before it retires! So the top piece of paper was this fabulous pattern from Merry Little Christmas, and I took my Sponge Brayer to it with some Pear Pizzazz to create a fun ombre effect.

Merry Christmas Card using Patterned Paper and Die Cuts from Stampin' Up!

The die cuts are from Pretty Pines, and are die cut in the colours from the challenge. They are adhered to the card front with Fine-Tip Glue. I actually made this card twice (ironic seeing as I have had to blog it twice too!) as I wasn’t happy with the first sentiment. This version has the sentiment from Snowflake Sentiments stamped in Cherry Cobbler and punched with the Everyday Label punch, while the first one was in Pool Party.

Global Design Project Merry Christmas Card using Snowflake Sentiments from Stampin' Up!

The card is finished with a few loops of Silver Metallic Thread and a scattering of Cherry Cobbler and Silver Metallic Enamel Shapes.

Christmas Countdown | Year of Cheer Christmas Card Set

Christmas Countdown Simple Year of Cheer Christmas Card set using Stampin' Up! products

StampinByHannah Christmas Countdown | Year of Cheer Christmas Card Set

Christmas Countdown Video Tutorial Series StampinByHannah Stampin' Up! UK

Welcome to this weeks Christmas Countdown … I am usually super organised when it comes to my blog, but this past few weeks things have gone a little awry and so I only managed to get this video filmed on Wednesday! Saying this though, I absolutely LOVE this project and cannot wait for you to see it!

How to make a set of Christmas Cards for a Craft Fair using Year of Cheer from Stampin' Up!

One of the most easily missed products in this years Stampin’ Up! Autumn Winter catalogues is the Acetate Card Boxes! I LOVE these! They are great not only for packaging a set of cute Christmas cards, but I have seen them used to pack tealights, chocolates and many other sweet treats. I have made a set of simple Christmas Cards for you today, but I know that you could dress these up further and still get them into the box.

Christmas Countdown Simple Year of Cheer Christmas Card set using Stampin' Up! products

I kept the cards in this card set simple…. partly because that Designer Series Paper does ALL the work, and partly to keep the video to a reasonable length.

Card Measurements:

Card base – Crumb Cake – 29.7 x 10.5 cm, scored on the long edge at 14.85 cm

Year of Cheer Designer Series Paper – 14.3 x 10 cm

Crumb Cake card stock – 7.5 x 7.5 cm

Whisper White card stock – 7 x 7 cm

I have made this card set 3 times now…. the first at a team training event a few months ago. I shared a quick peak at that version in the video, it uses Painted Harvest (which we know is one my all time favourites). The second version uses another firm favourite, Santa’s Suit.

Christmas Countdown How to make a set of Christmas Cards using Santa's Suit from Stampin' Up!

I have to say this one took the longest, thanks to die cutting Santa! But it was definitely worth it… Saying that, now I look at the photo, I realise that Santa has no hands! Might make it a little difficult to check that nice / naughty list this year!

Wrap Measurements:

Crumb Cake card stock – 29.7 x 8.5 cm

Whisper White card stock – 29.7 x 8 cm

Christmas Countdown Christmas Card Set using Santas Suite from Stampin' Up!

This version uses the Merry Music Designer Series Paper for a slightly alternative Christmas colour combination.

Which version is your favourite?

StampinByHannah Facebook Live | For the Love of Stampin’ Up!

Stampin' Up! Facebook Live StampinByHannah UK

I had intended for Facebook Live to be a monthly affair, but I am on Annual Leave from the day job this week and thought I would go Live again this week!  Facebook Live is so much fun, I have the next one in my diary for the 1st December and I do hope that you can join me.

I made 2 cards this week, although the main reason for my broadcast wasn’t necessarily to share my love of card making, but more to share my LOVE of Stampin’ Up! There are so many reasons why… Not only the FABULOUS deal that you get on the Starter Kit, the 20% off all your stampin’ goodies, the catalogues, magazine, exclusive website, mountains of crafty inspiration, and the opportunity to earn free products, vouchers and holidays! I LOVE the community and the friendships. I am heading to Stampin’ Up! OnStage this weekend to be with around 700 of my Stampin’ Sisters to see the new Spring/Summer catalogue and I CANNOT wait!

Stampin' Up! UK Starter Kit

The Starter Kit is always the best deal…. just £99 for £130 worth of Stampin’ Up! goodies of your choice, PLUS a stack of catalogues, order forms and other business gear. Not that you have to make a business of being a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, we welcome happy shoppers who just want that 20%, business builders, and everyone in between too.

That fabulous basket of Stampin’ Up! goodness just shows quite how much you can get in your Starter Kit! There is a stamp and punch bundle, a pack of Designer Series Paper, 2 packs of card stock, 4 ink pads, notecards and envelopes, embellishments and adhesives in there! Of course, what you put in your kit is totally your choice, but I always think its nice to see how far you cash can go!

tampinByHannah Facebook Live Cute Card using Work of Art by Stampin' Up!

Of all the good stuff that I selected for my Starter Kit there is only one stamp set left. Saying that it is a fabulous one! Work of Art has gathered dust on my shelves a little recently, but I do LOVE it! I took inspiration from the catalogue with this card, but I still think is is fabulous!

Measurements:

Card base – Berry Burst – 4 x 8″ (scored on the long side at 4″)

Whisper White Layer – 3-3/4 x 3-3/4″

StampinByHannah Facebook Live Christmas Card using Peace this Christmas by Stampin' Up!

We always need quick Christmas Cards… while I was searching my catalogue recently I spotted the Peace This Christmas stamp set. This stamp set carried over into the Annual Catalogue from last Christmas, and I still love it! This card was actually inspired by THIS card that the lovely Janice shared with the team at a Training event back in the summer.

Stamped in Basic Grey, Cherry Cobbler, and Garden Green, this is a very Classic Christmas card… but with a bit of Masking (LOVE!) and you could totally dress this one up more with some embellishments or ribbons too! I would LOVE to see your version! Share it with me on my Facebook Page.

Measurements:

Card Base – Cherry Cobbler – 29.7 x 10.5 cm, scored on the long edge at 14.85 cm

Basic Grey layer – 9.3 x 13.6

Whisper White layer – 9 x 13.3 cm

Global Design Project 112 – Colour Me Happy

Global Design Project Watecolour Colour Me Happy Card using Stampin' Up! products

StampinByHannah Global Design Project 112 – Colour Me Happy

Hello….

So, I had planned for this blog post to go live this morning, but for many many reasons yesterday was a total write off, and so this evening appears to be the time.

This week’s Global Design Project Challenge is a CASE the designer. CASE stands for Copy and Share Everything… or Copy and Selectively Edit, depending on your point of view. I LOVE the card that the GDP have chosen for this weeks inspiration, and just HAD to have a go this week!

Global Design Project Watecolour Colour Me Happy Card using Stampin' Up! products

This card looks really complicated, but really it only took a few minutes to put together… even with the watercolour!

The flowers are stamped in Archival Basic Black ink onto Watercolour Paper. I am loving this stamp set, its called Colour Me Happy, and its a limited edition set released to celebrate the launch of Stampin’ Blends. It coordinates with a lovely card kit, although I think I have used it more on its own than with the kit! Here the flowers are watercoloured in Island Indigo ink, with Tangerine Tango centres. The background is coloured with Crumb Cake ink.

Measurements:

Card Base – Crumb Cake – 29.7 x 10.5 cm, scored at 14.85 cm

Basic Black card stock layer – 9 x 13.3 cm

Watercolour paper  – 8.5 x 12.8 cm

So Happy for You Card using Colour Me Happy from Stampin' Up!

The thing that really stood out about Connie’s card was the accents… I have recently been taking the backing paper off of White Perfect Accents for a hint of something on some of my cards. Today though, I thought I would try and taking the backing off some of the Glitter Enamel Dots…. and you know, it works! Peel away the coloured paper backing, and you reveal clear, glitter dots, Perfect for an accent!

The sentiment is also taken from the Colour Me Happy Stamp set, it is heat embossed in White onto a piece of Basic Black card stock, and the end finished with the Triple Banner Punch.

Fresh Florals 18th Birthday Card

Birthday Card using Fresh Florals and Number of Years from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah Fresh Florals 18th Birthday Card

We had a BIG birthday in our family yesterday. My Sister-in-Law turned 18! As usual James (my husband) requested a card for his sister… but he couldn’t have a normal card! Oh no, he had made a CD of some very embarrassing music for her, and so wanted a nice card for it to go in. While I’m not going to share a tutorial for this … its just quite a specific request! I will share the card as a whole with you.

Birthday Card using Fresh Florals and Number of Years from Stampin' Up!

Because this card was designed to fit a CD in it, it is a different size to my usual card creations. I do love making a square card every now and again, and this one has layers of Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper and Vellum (Yum!).

Card Measurements:

Card stock – Berry Burst – 10 x 5″ (25 x 12.5 cm)

Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper – 4 3/4 x 4 3/4″ ( 12 x 12 cm)

Vellum – 4 x 4″ (10 x 10 cm)

Fresh Florals Pink Happy Birthday Card using Number of Years from Stampin' Up!

I think Stampin’ Up! have the most perfect stamp set (and coordinating dies) for BIG birthdays…. the Number of Years stamp set and Large Numbers dies. These are BIG! Not only does the stamp set include numbers 0-8, it also has some really handy sentiments AND some pretty floral stamps too. Here I stamped the ’18’ in Whisper White Craft Ink onto Berry Burst card stock, and used the coordinating dies to cut them out. The rest of the sentiment is also stamped in Berry Burst, and also die cut from the Large Numbers dies.

Fresh Florals 18th Birthday Card Envelope using Number of Years from Stampin' Up!

I couldn’t just give my Sister-In-Law (Bella) a pretty card in a boring envelope could I? So, I used the Envelope Punch Board to make this fabulous envelope! It also uses the Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper, but in Fresh Fig this time. I LOVE making envelopes from Designer Series Paper, but writing on it can be a little tricky… so I created a tag for the front instead. I used the Number of Years stamp set again to stamp ’18’ in Berry Burst (stamped off once) and added her name using the Labeler Alphabet stamped in Fresh Fig.

Envelope Measurements:

Designer Series Paper – 8 1/8 x 8 1/8″

Punched and Scored at 4 1/8″ using the Envelope Punch Board

Closing homemade envelopes can be tricky… here I opted to wrap the envelope with some 1/8″ Sheer Ribbon in Whisper White. So pretty!
