Making Birthday cards for our Young Adults are some of the trickiest cards I make all year, and it’s only made harder when that person is a boy! My brother-in-law turned 15 over the weekend, and I’m sure this card had no impact on his day, but I enjoyed making it anyway!
This card uses Sprinkles of Life, and the coordinating Tree Builder Punch, with the ice-cream stamped in Tip Top Taupe, Chocolate Chip, So Saffron and Flirty Flamingo – Neapolitan anyone?!
I put this card together, but it was a little bit plain. So I added a background stamped using Playful Backgrounds in Soft Sky.

We always need birthday cards on hand, I think as card-makers we probably make more birthday cards that any other type of card (depending on how many Christmas cards you make of course!).
This card uses two stamp sets; Gorgeous Grunge for the Soft Sky border and the splatter effect, and Pun Intended for the Bee and the sentiment too. I was totally inspired by the Bee for the colour scheme on this one, with Basic Black and Delightful Dijon, but it needed just an extra something, and so I added some Soft Sky to the border and the Bee wings too.
The Bee was coloured using our Blender pens, stamped in Basic Black Archival ink and then coloured with the same colours as the rest of the card. I wish we had a die or a punch for this cute critter but it didn’t take too long to fussy cut, so maybe I don’t mind too much!

I have a special week for you this week here on my blog, I’m CASing the catalogue! CASE (or Copy and Share Everything) is actively encouraged by Stampin’ Up! and seeing as there are so many awesome ideas in this years catalogue, I couldn’t not make some of them!
I have been suffering from a terrible case of Crafter’s Block over the past few weeks, I have tried to make some bits and bobs but I haven’t like anything I have made. Normally I post every single card I make here on the blog, whether I like it or not, but I struggled to find anything positive to say about any of them! So, when it came to making my Make It Monday project this week I didn’t know what I was going to do! Until I turned to my trusty copy of the catalogue, and a card jumped straight out at me!
You can find the original card on page 23 of this years Annual Catalogue. I have of course made my own edits (which is totally allowed) mostly to aid the translation of the card from 8 1/2 x 11″ card stock using in the USA to the A4 size that we use here in Europe.
I’m loving making my Make It Monday videos, but did you know that I am also making a second video each week at the moment, exclusively for my Email Newsletter subscribers, I have already filmed my card for this week and I am loving it! You can subscribe to my newsletter at any time by using the link at the end of each and every blog post, or by clicking HERE!
Measurements:
Card Base – Sahara Sand – half sheet of A4 card stock, folding in half

You guys know how much I love a stamp set that I can use in multiple different way for multiple different occasions, and Swirly Bird is definitely one of those stamp sets that I am head over heals with!
How cute is this card?! I think it would be an awesome card for a little boys birthday, or a Hello baby boy card, however I have plumped for my standard Thank You card (I make so many Thank You cards I love having a heap on hand at all times for all you lovely customers and blog readers).
The boat is actually from the Swirly Bird stamp set! There are heaps of images in this stamp set, a boat, a bird, swirly bits and bobs, great fun.
The ‘sea’ is one of the dies from the coordinating die bundle – Swirly Scribbles – in Pool Party to match the Pool Party / Dapper Denim / Rose Red Boat. I’ve actually in-lay die cut it this time, but my goodness it was tricky, definitely one to do if you have plenty of time!

I love sending handmade Birthday cards, and I am sure that you make more birthday cards than any other kind. So I always enjoy coming up with fun and different birthday cards, because lets be honest here – that’s why we send home made, because its a little different from everyone elses!
I made this card recently for James’ friends little girl, who turned 10 (I think) on Monday. She loves James, and is always upset when she finds that he’s been round while she has been at school. So, James always likes to make a special effort for her birthday (and so I always make card!).
This card uses the Sweet Cupcake Bundle (save 10%!). The Cupcake base is stamped in Sahara Sand, Tip Top Taupe and Chocolate Chip, while the Icing is Blushing Bride, Flirty Flamingo and Sweet Sugarplum with a hint of Gold Wink of Stella for some extra sparkle.
This stamp set is totally designed for 2-step stamping. There are 3 stamps for the cupcake, and another 3 for the icing, and then the are 2 to make the candle too! PLUS the awesome coordinating die set to cut the whole lot out (with some extra’s too!) I LOVE it!
James always requests that I stamp the inside of the card too (something I often forget!) and he loved the extra cupcake inside! So cute!

Thank you so much for joining us for our Pootler’s Team Blog Hop! This time we are celebrating the launch of the 2016 Annual Catalogue. I’ve had a sneaky peak of everyone’s projects and I know that you are going to love them ALL! So, don’t forget to use the Next and Previous buttons at the end of this post to see more awesome projects using the new products!
As demonstrator’s we have had this new catalogue in our hands now for 2 months, and when I first clapped eyes on the front cover I wanted the fabulous flowers on the front cover. Those flowers are from the Jar of Love stamp set (page 75) and I love them even more in real life than I did when I first saw the front cover!
This card was really simple to put together, a little time consuming with all the die cutting, but well worth it! The flowers in the jar are super clever, they are one stamp, that stamps 2 flowers (well, 2 stamps I suppose as they are 2-step stamped) and then the die cuts them into two seperate flower pieces – Awesome! I actually think that I love the dies more than I love the stamps in this bundle – I mean that large jar has 2 dies; one for the outside edge and one of the middle!
I do have a slight confession to make, the Smoky Slate Bakers Twine which I have used to create the bow has retired, usually I take everything on the retiring list off my shelves and out of my drawers before you can’t buy them any more, but somehow this piece of twine got missed – and I hadn’t realised it had gone until I had finished writing this post! Oops!
Anyway, I really hope that you enjoy the blog hop as much as I enjoy organising it! Don’t forget to ‘hop’ on to Anna’s blog to see her awesome project….

I’m loving playing with some of the new stamp sets in this years Annual Catalogue. One of my current favourites is Swirly Bird, which doesn’t look like much it the stamp case, but once you start playing heaps of different images and ideas just seem to magically appear. This stamp set not only features a bird, but also a sail boat, flowers, and kites, and I’m sure much much more too…
I am loving the combination of Sweet Sugarplum and Rich Razzleberry, and I’ve paired this with Pear Pizzazz and Smoky Slate here to create a really fresh colour combination. I can’t help but add Gorgeous Grunge to my projects at the moment, and so I couldn’t not add a splatter of Smoky Slate here. The Birthday greeting comes from the Tin of Cards stamp set which I am so happy has carried over as I just LOVE that font!
I hope you enjoy the video this week. I have been doing voice overs for Make It Monday videos, but really it takes so much longer that it just easier for me if I waffle while I work. Let me know what you think in the comments either here on the blog or over on my YouTube channel.
Right, that’s all for today folks! See you again tomorrow for another card using the Swirly Bird stamp set!

When I first made this card last year it took me ages to work out the cutting and scoring, I had found a tutorial from an awesome American fellow Stampin’ Up! demonstrator and just had to make this card, but the US don’t use A4 card stock, so I had to convert the measurements. It has taken me so long to revisit this style of card after the trauma of that day, but following my own instructions I had the card finished in a flash!
I love the fact that this card has its own level of dimension, although you could really burnish the fold lines to get the card to be flatter. I have also seen this style of fancy fold embossed with an embossing folder after the fold has been created which looks awesome! but I opted for tone on tone stamping today
This card features the Number of Years stamps and dies – which is currently available as a 15% bundle, but the bundle retired on the 31st May, although the stamps and dies will still be available they will cost more – grab them today for a bargain!
Have you spotted my colour combination inspiration today? Yes, this card is made in my blog colours; Soft Sky, Marina Mist and Melon Mambo!
Measurements:
Card Base – Marina Mist – Half A4, folded in half (14.8 x 21, scored on the long side at 10.5 cm)
Insert you card base into your Stampin’ Trimmer with the long side at the top, line up the left hand edge at 13 cm – using the measurements printed on the cutting arm of the Stampin’ Trimmer cut from 2 cm down to 8 cm.
Turn your card base so the short edge is at the top, line up the left hand edge of your card stock at 8 cm, and cut again from 2cm to 8 cm – you should have created a corner cut in the middle of your card front.
Then fold the top right hand edge of the card front down, ensure that you don’t fold the centre square that will appear, burnish this score line well to ensure you card front sits flat.

Hello! Welcome to another Make It Monday! As soon as I spotted the Large Numbers Framelits Dies in this years Spring/Summer catalogue this card sprang into my head! Yes, it has taken me an AGE to get around making it, but I thought I would share making it with you!
This card was super simple to make! This would be a great boys birthday card (maybe not with the pink!) or men’s cards too.
My top tips for this card are to use Tombow glue to adhere the numbers, as to adhere the numbers in a random way; upside down, and off the edges. This technique is also known as faux embossing because the numbers are the same colour as the card stock underneath, however this card could be really cool in rainbow!
Measurements:
Card base: Basic Grey – 21 x 14.8 cm
Layer: Basic Grey – 10 x 14.2 cm
Numbers: Basic Grey Scraps
Melon Mambo: scrap, approx 6.5 x 6.5 cm

I just cannot get enough of colouring, I actually used an Aqua painter on this card, something I don’t do all that often. I tend to reserve my Aqua painters for watercolour backgrounds as I prefer the control of a ‘real’ paintbrush for more detailed work, however I really wanted a watery effect on this card.
The colour combination here is Calypso Coral, Blushing Bride, Mint Macaron and Pool Party. After stamping the balloons from Balloon Celebration in Archival Basic Black ink I coloured the Calypso Coral balloons first, then the Mint Macaron ones – allowing one colour time to dry before painting the next. Saying that I didn’t leave the largest balloon long enough as you can see an element of ‘bleeding’ – where the ink runs and blends into the next ink colour.
Once the balloons were dry the card needed something extra and so I added a background of Pool Party in a watercolour wash to help ‘ground’ the balloons onto the card. The final touch was a hint of Wink of Stella in Clear on the Blushing Bride Balloons although my camera hasn’t picked this up at all! I’m still really struggling to get crisp photos, might have a play with the camera again this afternoon
