Thank You Garden In Bloom

Thank You Card using Garden in Bloom and Tin of Cards from Stampin' Up! UK

As you know I love Watercolour, and getting really inky and messy when I’m card making. However, sometimes you just need a super quick card….

But, I still want that watercolour / inky artsy look. I LOVE Garden in Bloom for this, it is designed to make you look like a watercolour master – but all you have used is stamps and ink!

Here I have used Blushing Bride for the flowers – there are other stamps that I could have layered but I was keeping things simple here! – with Melon Mambo for the smaller flowers and Pear Pizzazz leaves.

The sentiment is taken from Tin of Cards, and the strip of Designer Series Paper is from Go Wild!

Make It Monday | Large Numbers Birthday Card

Large Numbers Birthday card Video Tutorial Featuring Stampin' Up! UK products

Hello! Welcome to another Make It Monday! As soon as I spotted the Large Numbers Framelits Dies in this years Spring/Summer catalogue this card sprang into my head! Yes, it has taken me an AGE to get around making it, but I thought I would share making it with you!

This card was super simple to make! This would be a great boys birthday card (maybe not with the pink!) or men’s cards too.

My top tips for this card are to use Tombow glue to adhere the numbers, as to adhere the numbers in a random way; upside down, and off the edges. This technique is also known as faux embossing because the numbers are the same colour as the card stock underneath, however this card could be really cool in rainbow!

Measurements:

Card base: Basic Grey – 21 x 14.8 cm

Layer: Basic Grey – 10 x 14.2 cm

Numbers: Basic Grey Scraps

Melon Mambo: scrap, approx 6.5 x 6.5 cm

Global Design Project #034 | Sketch Challenge

Global Design Project Mint Macaron Watercolour Wishes Card using Stampin' Up! products

I had so much fun with the Global Design Project Colour Challenge last week that I’m joining in again this week with their Sketch Challenge. One of the things I love about joining in with the Global Design Project is that the type of challenge changes, so its not a sketch each week. Love that!

I love this sketch, but I think I was more inspired by the Global Design Project colour scheme this week – maybe my brain hasn’t moved on from the colour challenge last week!

I have just dug out the stamp set from the Watercolour Wishes Card Kit. I really have to finish making the cards from that kit because they are gorgeous, but I realised last week that I haven’t used the stamp set included in the kit! shocking! So, seeing as it is coming back again next year, I thought I would move the stamps out of the kit and store them with the rest of my stamps!

I did think about watercolouring the background of this card, as per the sketch, but decided that I would rather sponge today. Once I had a good coverage of Mint Macaron ink I heat embossed the sentiment in White. I did add some extra ink after to make the sentiment pop.

The card was finished with a layer of vellum and a scattering of Silver sequins from my roll of sequin trim!

Make It Monday | Watercolour Lifting

I loved making this card! You all know how much I love playing with ink and water, but this technique is super cool! I cannot take any credit for this, the wonderful Jennifer McGuire showcased this one a couple of months ago, and it has taken me this long to get round to having a go!

I finally managed to work out what went wrong with my camera last week! I had somehow managed to change the focus setting to Macro – so nothing was in focus! sorted now, but I am still playing about with the White Balance settings so be prepared for some more interesting photography!

Luckily the ‘movie’ setting has been working just great this week, so are you ready for the video tutorial?!

As you can see the watercolour lifting technique is super simple.

Watercolour a piece of Watercolour Paper, get creative use multiple colours if you fancy!
Leave your Watercolour Paper to dry or speed up the process using a heat tool but make sure it is totally dry before moving on to Step 3!
Stamp your desired images onto your Watercoloured piece in VersaMark ink and cover in Clear Embossing Powder, use your Heat Tool to melt the embossing powder.
Grab your Stampin’ Spritzer and cover your Watercolour Piece with water, grab a few layers of Kitchen roll (or other paper towel type stuff!) and press over, this wicks away that water taking some ink with it. You can repeat this several times, to create a more dramatic effect.

Sorry for the short post today, but I will admit to having to rush to get the the video uploaded and post written today! Bank holiday weekend is always a little bit mental but I have spent most of the morning (I’m writing this on Sunday!) trying to sort my final end of year accounts, organising and packaging my April Customer thank you cards and gifts, and I still have to make a Congratulations card for my brother and sister in law before 3pm! Fancy Fold Friday | Z Fold Card

Its Back!

Yes, I am bring back Fancy Fold Friday! As I have previously discussed, I attended a team training event a few weeks ago and my lovely friend Heidi put together this whole inspiration station of Fancy Fold Cards as well as 3 wonderful make and takes that were also fancy folds. I had forgotten how much I LOVE making fancy fold cards! So, in the spirit of doing what we love I have brought back Fancy Fold Friday.

Now, there is a video this week but I cannot promise a video tutorial every week (they are a whole heap of work!) but I will promised to ensure that each week comes with written instructions and measurements

I just love this stamp set! Number of Years is a great excuse to make numbered birthday cards. Saying that I don’t have a 24th birthday to send this card to – so if you do, let me know and I will send this card to you!

Balloon Celebration Birthday

I’m still totally on a watercolour kick!

I just cannot get enough of colouring, I actually used an Aqua painter on this card, something I don’t do all that often. I tend to reserve my Aqua painters for watercolour backgrounds as I prefer the control of a ‘real’ paintbrush for more detailed work, however I really wanted a watery effect on this card.

The colour combination here is Calypso Coral, Blushing Bride, Mint Macaron and Pool Party. After stamping the balloons from Balloon Celebration in Archival Basic Black ink I coloured the Calypso Coral balloons first, then the Mint Macaron ones – allowing one colour time to dry before painting the next. Saying that I didn’t leave the largest balloon long enough as you can see an element of ‘bleeding’ – where the ink runs and blends into the next ink colour.

Once the balloons were dry the card needed something extra and so I added a background of Pool Party in a watercolour wash to help ‘ground’ the balloons onto the card. The final touch was a hint of Wink of Stella in Clear on the Blushing Bride Balloons although my camera hasn’t picked this up at all! I’m still really struggling to get crisp photos, might have a play with the camera again this afternoon

Global Design Project #033 – Colour Challenge

Global Design Project Colour Challenge using Endless Thanks from Stampin' Up! UK

Hello! Yes, a post on a Wednesday, doesn’t happen very often but I really wanted to join in with the Global Design Project this week! I join in with this challenge blog every now and again (trying to join in more often!) but I don’t think I have ever done a Colour Challenge.

I love this colour combination, but couldn’t do quite what I wanted as I hit my card stock drawer I realised I’ve ran out of Calypso Coral card stock!

I have had great fun recently playing with masking techniques and couldn’t pass up the chance to use a mask on this card. I created a mask using one of those all over sticky – sticky notes and my 1 1/4″ circle punch. This then covered the ‘Thank You’ sentiment as I stamped the rest of the card

Another thing I have been really enjoying recently is using little stamps to create, I have a video on creating backgrounds using small stamps planned for a couple of weeks time. Yes I have finally started to properly plan again! This past month has been a complete killer but I’m hoping that things are back on the up again, I finally have a clearer mind and can actually get stuff done! Anyway, that’s another story.

So, that’s my entry for the Global Design Project for this week. I hope the that ‘hump day’ isn’t too bad, I’m having the day off today – back to the day job tomorrow!

Goodbye Everything Eleanor

I am so sad that Everything Eleanor is retiring. I shared this same card last week with my Newsletter subscribers, but didn’t want you guys to miss out (I’m hoping that it hasn’t already up’d and left!)

I have loved using this stamp set for various weddings and other occasions over the past few years. I haven’t decided yet if it might be a ‘keeper!’

I don’t keep supplies once items have retired (I just don’t have the space!) and will be selling off retired stamp sets and tools at my Annual BOGO (buy one get one free) sale at my Catalogue Launch Party in June!

Make It Monday | Gift Card Holder

Now, before we go any further with todays project I need to remind you about this years Retiring List. Right, with that out of the way today I’m sharing video tutorial! Yes, I managed to get some filming done (two videos for you lovely lot this week!) and here is the first!

This card was inspired by the gorgeous Jennifer McGuire. I love the idea of adding a gift card in a way other than with a glue dot!

The key to this card is really in the adhesive. You could use the sides of your Dimensionals, however coming on 1st June we have some great Foam Adhesive strips that would work amazingly for this.

And who needs a reason to send a gift card?!

Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge | April 2016

Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge Thank Card using Go Wild Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up! UK

Hello! Long time to see! I have really missed this hop over the past couple of weeks, I can’t wait to hop around and see what the girls have created with this weeks sketch from Karen

I was totally intimidated by this sketch. I have no idea why, but the whole thing really scared me. I stared at this sketch for over a fortnight before I had any inspiration what so ever, to the point where when Sam Johnson messaged me earlier in the week to remind me that the hop was this weekend, I had such a panic!

Once I had re-composed myself I started to look around my craft room. My shelves are currently looking kinda bare after I’ve removed all the stamp sets and embellishments that are retiring at the end of May. I don’t tend to share retiring products, I would hate for you to spot something I posted this week on my blog and go to shop only to find that it has already gone and you missed out. But please do use the link at the bottom of this post to check out the things that are retiring.

I almost used new products, but then felt bad that you wouldn’t be able to shop for them until 1st June – and that still feels like a very long way away!

I also apologise for this photograph, I took my camera away with me last weekend, and I think the travelling has upset it because I cannot get a clear crisp image for love nor money! Looks like its time for a new camera!

Anyway, this card uses the Suite Sayings stamp set (staying with us for another 12 months) as well as some Designer Series Paper that is retiring – Go Wild! oh, and that ribbon is on the goodbye list too (I’m not good at not using retiring products am I!)
