Mother’s Day Cards 2017

Jar of Love card for Mothers Day

Mother’s Day (or Mothering Sunday …. my mum tells me off when I don’t call it Mothering Sunday!) was last weekend here in the UK, and although I would rather share some Mother’s Day ideas with you before the day, I can’t share my cards until after. Yes, I make more than one Mothers Day card; one for my mum and one for James’s (although they are usually exactly the same!)

Jar of Love card for Mothers Day

I shared a sneaky peak of the colours I used on this card over on my Instagram over the weekend… because as organised as I usually am, I made my cards for Mothering Sunday (keep mum happy) on Saturday morning! There are a heap of colours on this one, but I think it works with the two step stamped flowers… So I have used: Calypso Coral, Cucumber Crush, Daffodil Delight, Mint Macaron, Pumpkin Pie, Smoky Slate and Watermelon Wonder.

Bright and cheerful Mothers Day card using Jar of Love from Stampin' Up!

I love the Jar of Love stamp set, it is just so easy to make pretty cards with, particular when you pair it with the coordinating Everyday Jars framelit dies… and I love that Stampin’ Up! have confirmed that this stamp set will carry over to the new catalogue in June Yay! I am so excited that I get to see the new catalogue next week!!!! One of the very very many perks of being a Stampin’ Up! independent demonstrator is the opportunity to attend Stampin’ Up! organised events, see the catalogue first, and get to Pre-Order new stamps and products a whole month ahead of everyone else! I would LOVE to share this opportunity with you. You can see the new catalogue next week too by joining my team of Stampin’ Friends (and I would seriously recommend joining before Friday night, because you get to choose a further 2 stamp sets for FREE in your Starter Kit!)

Stamped inside the card using Jar of Love from Stampin' Up!

I even managed to stamp the inside of these cards with the cute jar image! The sentiment is taken from Crazy About You, I LOVE that font! I found my grandma’s old typewriter when we were clearing her house a few weeks ago, the font is almost exactly the same, I cannot wait to get it serviced / repaired so I can use it in my wedding scrapbook album!

Global Design Project #080 | You’re So Kind

You're So Kind card for the Global Design Project using Butterflies Watercolour Wings from Stampin' Up!

Oh wow! I cannot believe that I got a Special Mention for my Global Design Project card last week! Totally made my Monday.

This weeks Global Design Project is to Case The Designer, and this weeks card is the creation of the lovely Louise Sharpe; Mrs GDP herself! You can check out the card inspiration over on the Global Design Project Blog.

Global Design Project Case the Designer Louise Sharpe Watercolour Kindness card using Watercolour Wings from Stampin' Up! UK

I have used Louise’s card as a sketch, and the colour combo was inspired by my ribbon draw! I reached into my stash of ribbon because I knew I wanted to use ribbon as the horizontal element and the first ribbon I picked up was this lovely ruched example in Sweet Sugarplum.

The butterfly can be found in Watercolour Wings. It is made of 4 different stamps, that I have stamped in 4 separate colours; Sahara Sand (stamped off once), Blushing Bride, Sweet Sugarplum, and Rich Razzleberry.

You're So Kind card for the Global Design Project using Butterflies Watercolour Wings from Stampin' Up!

The tag is a 2″ wide piece of Watercolour paper that I have added a heavy wash of Sweet Sugarplum onto. I added different layers of watercolour (I love those hard edges in watercolour don’t you?) to create some more depth and texture. The sentiment is also from Watercolour Wings and is stamped in Rich Razzleberry.

I finished this card with a double bow of Linen Thread (one of my favourite elements of Louise’s card), Linen Thread is so easy to tie bows with, and I love this one where I cut a long length and folded it in half before tying the bow.

Have you joined in with the Global Design Project this week? I can’t wait to see everyone else’s creations!

Global Design Project #079 | Theme Challenge

Global Design Project theme challenge using Carousel Birthday from Stampin' Up! to make a quick and easy fun birthday card

Right, lets get back on track… I am much better, my work hours are starting to even out again and I have a little more time to craft, much be time to take on another Global Design Project Challenge then!

This week’s theme challenge was a bit of a head scratcher…. I really wanted to use the Ferris Wheel stamp from Carousel Birthday but when I got the stamp set out the horse image jumped out of the box at me – so that is what I used!

I have been a bit naughty with this card actually, there are 3 stamp sets playing here… but I wanted a simple font for the sentiment, and I needed a bit of splater! sometimes 3 is better than 1, right?

Global Design Project theme challenge using Carousel Birthday from Stampin' Up! to make a quick and easy fun birthday card

The horse is heat embossed in Gold onto a circle cut using the Stitched Shapes dies; I am loving using them with the Layering Circles Framelits at the moment (can you tell?!). I almost coloured the image with Stampin’ Write Markers but it just didn’t feel quite right, so I grabbed for my current favourite stamp… the fine splatter from Touches of Texture. The splatter appears again on the background (a twice embossed sheet of Very Vanilla, embossed first with Gold Embossing powder then ran through the Lucky Stars embossing folder).

The sentiment is hand cut from Crazy About You and is simply stamped in Watermelon Wonder.

I hope you have enjoyed my card post today, particularly as I only made it at 10PM last night (yes, I quickly photographed it and got in on the blog scheduled for this morning! I am still a little behind with the rest of the week though!)

See you again soon

Mans card with tools using the Nailed It Bundle from Stampin' Up! to make an I'm Sorry Card

Tuesday, now, I normally share my Global Design Project entry for the week on a Tuesday, and I had intended to do that this week…. except my nice early finish from work turned into getting home at 7PM and so getting a blog post up for today was more important! however, I intend to make and share my entry on Thursday….

Manly I'm Sorry card using Nailed it from Stampin' Up! with the Urban Underground Designer Series Paper and Hexagon Embossing Folder

I am loving cutting tools using the Nailed It bundle at the moment… and don’t get me started on that paper <3 I just cannot get enough! Which is good really because with my crazy busy month I am a little behind on designing the cards for this month’s Online Card Class! I will share some sneaky peaks with you on Social Media over the weekend.

The tools are stamped in Basic Grey onto Very Vanilla (to match the DSP!) and then coloured using the Basic Grey and Bermuda Bay watercolour pencils, blended with a blender pen to smooth out the colour. Make It Monday | Sale-a-bration special!

Make It Monday Sale-a-bration special 4 cards using Inside the Lines from Stampin' Up!

Make It Monday

Hello! Well, I suppose I should apologise for the lack of blog posts at the end of last week (and also a lack of a Make It Monday video this week!), I mentioned last week that I had to travel about 300 miles for a family funeral… well that went well, and I managed to get a bit of work done in the car on the way there and back, which was great seeing as the second I go home last Tuesday afternoon I was struck with a horrible cold. Now, I get colds quite regularly, but this saw me actually in bed for two days, I had to phone in sick to work, and if I’m not well enough to go to work, I am not well enough to film either! As I write this on Sunday afternoon, I find myself slowly recovering, but I still can’t film… well not if you want to understand what I am saying! So, I have the video that was meant to go up on Friday last week that I will schedule for this weeks 3D Friday and hopefully catch up with some more filming this coming week!

To make it up to you though I thought I would share 4 cards I made this morning with the Sale-a-bration Freebie Inside the Lines!

Make It Monday using Beautiful You and Inside the Lines from Stampin' Up! to made a simple birthday card

Ok, so this blog post is heading for the top of the ‘image heavy’ list! This first card was inspired by a sample I came across on Pinterest that had 3 panels of Designer Series Paper laid out like this. All 4 of the cards I have to share with you today use the fabulous Inside the Lines Designer Series Paper. I realised a few weeks ago when I posted another project using this paper into a Facebook sharing group, that I have used this paper a fair bit, but I tend to use it raw, no colouring, or colour added at all. So I though that really needed to change…. The paper here has a gentle layer of Flirty Flamingo added with a Sponge Brayer, and the card is finished with the sentiment from Beautiful You heat embossed onto a strip of Vellum and a trio of Enamel shapes (coloured with my black sharpie!)

Make It Monday Sale-a-bration special using Stampin' Up! watercolour pencils and Inside the Lines Designer Series Paper

This second card was actually the first card I made… or at least the first panel of paper I coloured. I pulled out my Watercolour Pencils for this one, I purposely kept things really soft… mainly because I also planned to colour a sample with my Stampin’ Write makers – which I did, it just hasn’t made it onto a card yet! The watercolour pencils are great! here I coloured the whole panel with Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral, Pumpkin Pie and Island Indigo, and then blended them with a blender pen to remove the pencil lines and blend the colours together.

Make It Monday Colouring Inside the Lines Designer Series Paper with Stampin' Up! Watercolour PencilsThis third card is actually one of the Make and Take projects from OnStage Local back in November! I am a naughty stamper at these things and find myself chatting more than making, but I try to make the projects when I get home. Anyway, I have changed the stamp set that the sample was designed to use, and grabbed for Floral Phrases for that Congratulations stamp. The single coloured panel here is coloured using Watercolour Pencils and a blender pen…. although I did almost leave it black and white!!

Make It Monday Sale-a-bration Special using Inside the Lines from Stampin' Up! to make 4 cards for all occasions

This final card is totally CASE’d from Rochelle Blok … and I couldn’t make a pile of cards with the Inside the Lines Designer Series Paper without leaving one un-coloured!! There are actually 3 Sale-a-bration freebies on this card; Inside the Lines Designer Series Paper, the sentiment is from Designer Tee, and the layer underneath the sentiment is a tiny piece of Bermuda Bay Glimmer Paper from the Glimmer Paper Assortment.

There are only 11 days of Sale-a-bration left!!! you can find out all about Sale-a-bration on my latest Sale-a-bration on Wednesday post which you can find HERE!

Make It Monday Sale-a-bration special 4 cards using Inside the Lines from Stampin' Up!

Right, that is all from me today, I have a busy couple of weeks with my day job before my holiday to Amsterdam with my Stampin’ Up! girls at the beginning of April (can you tell I’m super excited!), so I probably should stop typing now and get organised for the week!

See you again tomorrow!

Make It Monday | Carousel Birthday Shaker Card Video Tutorial

Make It Monday Shaker Card tutorial using Carousel Birthday from Stampin' Up!

Make It Monday

I was asked a question about this card a few weeks ago, and I realised that although this video has been on my to film list for months I hadn’t got round to filming it! I had great fun playing with the Carousel Birthday stamp set before OnStage last November, and even more fun when I realised that the ferris wheel stamp matches two of the circle dies from the Layering Circles perfectly!

Make It Monday Shaker Card tutorial using Carousel Birthday from Stampin' Up!

I hope you enjoy the video… and do let me know if there is something else you would like to see. I love talking to you all about my creations, and would LOVE to see what you have made with this stamp set!

The Carousel Birthday stamp set coordinates with the Lift Me Up! Stamp and die bundle… particularly those cute cupcakes.

Right, that’s it from me for today, I have managed to write this blog post in the car…. and I’m starting to struggle with a touch of car sickness!

Oh! Designer Tee I Love you Lots….

Elephant Birthday card using Designer Tee and Love you Lots from Stampin' Up!

Sorry for the pun-y title today, but I just couldn’t help myself when the card uses the Stamp sets Designer Tee and Love You Lots!

Elephant Birthday card using Designer Tee and Love you Lots from Stampin' Up!

I made this card for a friend who LOVES elephants, although I think it would make an equally special New Baby card too. I have been playing around with this card layout for a while now, with a wide boarder around an embossed white layer… partly because I cut and embossed far to many for a project a while back, and partly because I love it!

Cute new baby card using Love you lots and Designer Tee from Stampin' Up!

The Elephant comes from the Stampin’ Rewards Exclusive set Love you Lots … there is only one way to get your hands on this one, its not in the main part of the catalogue but right at the back, and you can only get your hands on it by cashing in your Stampin’ Rewards. These are points that you can earn when you spend over £150 in a single order, you have to redeem them immediately, and during Sale-a-bration you get even more… earning an extra £20 of Rewards when you spend over £200!

The card itself is pretty simple; the Whisper White card stock is embossed with the Polka Dots embossing folder, and the Elephant is stamped in Basic Grey and then cut out using the Stitched Shapes Framelits dies … although I did a bit of die cutting magic to get a smaller rectangle as the shapes in the pack are squares! The inside was also stamped with the Elephant… because we all know that your insides should never be plain!
