Global Design Project #084 Just for you card using Watercolour Wings from Stampin' Up!

Oh my goodness, this might be my fastest make ever! I managed to get into my craft room, get inspiration and make this card in less than 20 minutes… which is good really seeing as I am writing this at 21:30 on Monday night!

This week’s Global Deign Project challenge is to CASE the designer…. and well, I’ve already CASE’d this particular designer once in the past week, but she is totally awesome! I am so proud to be a part of her wonderful team of stampers…. it is of course, the totally gorgeous Michelle Last!

I have taken a few elements of Michelle’s card to create my own… the neutral card base, embossed background and that square. Is anyone else a bit obsessed with the Stitched Shapes dies at the minute, or is it just me…. I can’t put them away!

The other element I have taken from Michelle’s card is a stamped and die cut image, but I have swapped the bird for a butterfly. This one is stamped from the Watercolour Wings stamp set, and uses Crumb Cake, Rich Razzleberry and Rose Red, and I have curled the wings a little for a bit of added dimension

Make It Monday | Faux Shadow Embossing Technique

Hello! Welcome to another Make It Monday here at StampinByHannah! I have a great card project for you this week, along with a quick, simple and fun technique using heat embossing!

I found this card on Jennifer McGuires Blog a few weeks ago, and thought it looked simple enough! So I had a go….

The background on this card was almost a piece of Designer Series Paper… but with the Retiring List, lots of papers have already sold out and I didn’t want to share something you might not be able to get! So, instead I created by own DSP using the Playful Backgrounds stamp set, stamped in Emerald Envy and Early Espresso.

The sentiment is the main focus of this card. To create the Faux Shadow effect the sentiment is first stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with clear powder. Then, and this is where a stamp positioning tool like the Stamp-a-ma-jig is super helpful, you stamp again but offset it slightly, heat emboss again in a colour…. and as if by magic it looks super dimensional! Awesome!

The Sentiment is also on a die cut from the Stitched Shapes Framelit dies (I LOVE these!) to give it a little extra something!

Our sketch this month was created by the fabulous Heidi Smith of FlutterbyHeidi…. didn’t she do a great job?!

I have to admit to being more than a little intimidated by this one… the number of elements on this card were slightly too much for my comfort zone! I cannot wait to see what the other girls have created with it though!

Those rectangles at the top of the sketch just sang ‘jars’ to me…. so I played around with the Jar of Love stamp set for a while before this appeared. The jars took several turns during our journey… they were vellum… they were empty…. they were all the same…. but this is what I settled on.

I love this stamp set and have another card using it coming really soon…

Birthday Blossoms Happy Birthday Card

Floral Birthday Card using Birthday Blossoms from Stampin' Up!

I recently attended Stampin’ Up! OnStage Live in Amsterdam. I LOVE going to events with other demonstrators, we have so much fun, talking about stamps, ink and paper, sharing creative ideas, and we laugh… a LOT! One of the highlights of any Stampin’ Up! event is swapping. We all make a stack of card fronts or 3D items, and swap them with other demonstrators. It’s a great way of getting heaps of inspiration, meet new people and check out stamps you might not have bought yet! However, this time because I was chosen to be a Display Stamper (more on that soon!) I didn’t get time to make any swaps. But I still collected a few things from my Stampin’ Sisters who didn’t want me to go home empty handed (they are so sweet!). I also received two gifts from my Stampin’ Mamas, one of which I have CASE’d today.

Michelle Last gave each person in her team at the event (of which there were a LOT!) a card front featuring this fabulous stamp set. I have used this one relatively recently on my Design Team project for Stinkin’ Inkers, but I had to pull it out again to make my own version of Michelle’s card.

This is one of those cards that looks kinda messy as your making it, as the little flowers and leaves overlap… but that is where the punched flowers come it. Not only are they pretty, but they hide the mess behind!

All the stamping on this card is in Basic Black Archival ink. Then before I punched out the large flowers with the coordinating Pansy Punch, I added a hint of colour with a sponge dauber and some Rich Razzleberry ink to tie in with the card base.

This card was finished with a layer of Basic Black card stock and a trio of Rhinestones. Before I leave you today I do have a confession to make about those Rhinestones… unfortunately they aren’t available at the moment (the current ones have sold out as part of the Retiring List!) but they will be back with us when the new Annual Catalogue launches on 1st June.

Global Design Project #083 | Sparkle with Rose Wonder

Global Design Project Just Because Card using Rose Wonder from Stampin' Up!

I hope you had a great Easter weekend, and while you might be heading back to work today I thought I would attempt to brighten your day with my ‘sparkly’ entry into this weeks Global Design Project theme Challenge.

I have subscribed to the GDP emails (it’s really easy, just hop over to their blog and pop your email into the ‘subscribe to our email’ box… what this means is that my Monday mornings at work are brightened by the arrival of a new challenge into my inbox somewhere around 10:30 ish. Which is lovely, and makes Monday’s much better! So, at break time yesterday morning I check my personal emails to find this lovely email in my inbox…. what’s this weeks challenge?! Sparkles…. right, ok! Now, normally ideas will form in my head pretty quickly, not this week. I got home at 5PM and I still had no ideas. All I had was that I wanted to use Shimmery White Card stock.

Shimmery White Card stock is super pretty, and sparkly… but trying to capture the sparkle in a photograph is tricky. I have created a video over on my Instagram to give you a closer look at the sparkle.

My favourite technique using Shimmery White card stock is watercolour. Because it is a bit thicker than Whisper White it is great for watercolour backgrounds. This one was super easy and quick to create, the trick is in the Aqua Painter and making sure there is plenty of water. I added a light wash of Melon Mambo to the card stock with the Aqua Painter, and dried it with a heat tool, before adding further light layers of colour to build this effect.

Once the card stock was dry, I added two stamped flowers from Rose Wonder in Melon Mambo and the sentiment in Basic Black. I played around with the die cut flower, initially it was in Shimmery White, then Basic Black, but I finally settled on Melon Mambo, and added two trios of Rhinestones to complete sparkly look.

Make It Monday | Quick and Easy Card using Swirly Bird

Happy Bank holiday Monday! I hope you are all planning a lovely relaxing day, I am of course off to work today… the joys of working in Social Care! However, just because it is a bank holiday doesn’t mean that I haven’t made you a fun Make It Monday video, I hope you enjoy this one, I had loads of fun making it!

I was totally inspired by a sample I found on Pinterest, it used a totally different die set, but the idea of using swirly dies as flowers stuck. Swirly Bird currently comes bundles with the Swirly Scribbles dies (to save you 10%) but this bundle retires on the 31st May… you will still be able to get both the stamps and dies, but you won’t be getting that fabulous discount. You can check the Retiring list now, and don’t forget to use my Code Club Code for something extra special too!

Measurements:

Rose Red Card stock: half an A4 sheet, folded in half (21 x 14.8 cm, scored at 10.5 cm)

Whisper White: 10 x 14.3 cm

The Happy Birthday sentiment comes from Butterfly Basics (another set I am excited to see carry over into the new Annual Catalogue!), I love the mixture of fonts on this one…. I am such a sucker for a good font… especially when it’s stamped in pink!

Male Birthday Card using Nailed It! from Stampin’ Up!

Ok, so last week (before I headed to Amsterdam) I sat in my crafty office looking around, thinking “there is a card around here somewhere that I haven’t blogged yet” but I couldn’t find it. I photograph everything I make, but I had nothing in my photo files, nothing lying around the office…. but I knew I had made something that I hadn’t shared with you guys yet. I packed my suitcase, tidied up, and sat down on the sofa to relax with James before I went away…. and there it was…. James’ birthday card! I had made it in such a hurry that I hadn’t photographed it, no wonder I couldn’t find it!

So, I thought I’d share it today instead. But I have another confession to make…. this stamp set (Nailed It!) is on the Retiring List…. and the matching dies have already sold out! Things move quickly off that list, so please, I would HATE for you to miss something that you love, go and check out what is left …. I’ll wait here while you pop an order in don’t worry……

Global Design Project #082 | So In Love

Global Design Project #082 Just for you card using So In Love from Stampin' Up!

I am back in my craft room after spending 5 days in Amsterdam last week for Stampin’ Up! OnStage Live…. We had a great time and I cannot wait to show you the next Annual Catalogue (it is Awesome!!), but I am back, and seeing as it is Tuesday, it’s time for my entry for the Global Design Project.

I think this is a great sketch and had a great time making my card this week…. and it was a great kick start back into making things after spending 5 days talking about making things!

I did start this project planning not to use purple…. but something happened and I was drawn to Rich Razzleberry! As the Retiring List was released yesterday I realised I hadn’t used enough of my Spring Summer purchases yet, and I love this stamp set… it’s called So In Love and it has the most beautiful set of dies that coordinate with it.

I stamped the sentiment in Rich Razzleberry onto Whisper White, and then added some pretty leaves in Sweet Sugarplum stamped off once. This was then die cut using the second smallest circle die from the Layering Circles Framelits.

The stripe of Sweet Sugarplum card stock on the left hand side of the card is stamped using two stamps from the same set also in Sweet Sugarplum for a lovely tone on tone effect.

I finished this card with a length of Linen Thread wrapped around the card and a double bow (also in Linen Thread) added with a glue dot.

Stinkin’ Inkers Challenge | Showers of Flowers

Stinkin' Inkers April Challenge Shower of Flowers Birthday card using Birthday Blossoms from Stampin' Up!

Oh today is such a big day in my crafty office…. not only is this my first post as part of the Stinkin’ Inkers Design Team, but I am frantically preparing to head off to Amsterdam tomorrow, as well as it being mine and James’s 6th anniversary! busy busy!

The Stinkin’ Inker’s are a wonderful group of super talented ladies, each month we release a challenge, and we would LOVE for you to play along! The challenge for the month of April is ‘Shower of Flowers’

This card uses the Birthday Blossoms stamp set from Stampin’ Up! which I stamped and heat embossed in Perfect Plum ink. I then added colour to the flowers using ink and a blender pen in Perfect Plum, Rich Razzleberry, Flirty Flamingo and Blushing Bride.

I finished this one with a trio of Jewel Rhinestones. Keeping it simple this month, March was crazy busy and the start of April is too… looking forward to getting to Amsterdam for some chill time with my Stampin’ Sisters! Make It Monday | Acrylic Block Stamping

Make It Monday Video Tutorial watercolour acrylic block stamping with Picture Perfect from Stampin' Up!

Welcome to Make It Monday! I was looking at what I could film for this weeks Make It Monday video tutorial, and I realised that I hadn’t looked at any techniques for a while, and seeing as this is one of my favourites, I thought I would share it again today!

As regular readers will be well aware I love a spot of Watercolouring! and for me that is any technique that mixes ink and water. This card was totally inspired by a card in the most recent edition of Stampin’ Success – the exclusive Demonstrator magazine (one of the many benefits of being part of Stampin’ Up!), and I used the same colour combination; Peekaboo Peach, Flirty Flamingo and Basic Black.

One of the most important things to remember when using ink and water in your card making, it getting the right card stock. Stampin’ Up! have 3 great options; watercolour paper, Thick Whisper White card stock, and Shimmery White card stock – which is what I have used here. Shimmery White has glitter embedded in it, and it is so pretty in real life but its tricky to pick up in photos.
