Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge Friend Card using Eastern Palace from Stampin' Up!

Hello! so, I designed this card for the Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge…. but then my blog broke and I missed it! But I didn’t want you to miss this card… so here it is! You can check out the Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge Blog hop HERE!
Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge Friend Card using Eastern Palace from Stampin' Up!

Now the sketch showed 3 squares….. and well, I had to move them around! I’m sure if you have seen my takes on a sketch before you will know that I tend to move things, change shapes and do all sorts of other funny things to sketches! But I love my card!

I received the Layering Squares Framelits just before I made this card… can you tell that I LOVE them! The great thing about using dies to cut squares rather than hand cutting them is that, not only can you ensure that your squares are actually square, but also you can pair them with the matching layer!

I have stuck to a very simply colour scheme, using just Crumb Cake and Early Espresso for this card. But each square was treated very differently.

Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge Friend Card using Eastern Palace from Stampin' Up!The bottom most square is stamped with Crumb Cake ink using the Eastern Palace stamp set, for a fun tone on tone effect. The next square was embossed using the Hexagon 3D Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, and the top square holds the sentiment stamped in Early Espresso. Each square also had a hint of a sponged edge also using Crumb Cake ink.

This card is finished with a double bow of Linen Thread, a hint of background stamping, and a trio of Jewel Rhinestones

Techniques Series | Selective Inking

Techniques Series Simple Lots of Love Card Selective Inking Tutorial Video

I am so sorry that this post didn’t go live yesterday…. something happened to my blog… all fixed now and ready to share…. enjoy x

Stamping Techniques Series

I have a nice, simple card for you today… but its a technique I use a LOT! so I though I would share my tips for Selective Inking!

Techniques Series Simple Lots of Love Card Selective Inking Tutorial Video

The original stamp reads… Sending Lots of Love, well, I didn’t want the ‘Sending’ so I grabbed for my Stampin’ Write Markers…

  • Use the side of the brush tip of the marker to colour the stamp
  • For solid stamps (like this one) use LOTS of ink… colour the stamp, and then colour it again… the more ink you add the less streaky lines you will have on your final stamped image
  • The ink will dry on the stamp, breath on the stamp before you stamp it to re-activate the ink for a perfect stamped image!

Wish Big!

Rainbow Wish Big Card using Stampin' Up! products

I’m on a bit of a bright colour kick at the moment…. give me rainbows and bold colours and I’m happy all week! but this hasn’t made it into my crafting very much, until now! This fun rainbow card took a little bit of effort to create, but I am totally in love with it and now that it’s been featured on my blog, it will be finding a permanent home on my mood board!

Rainbow Wish Big Card using Stampin' Up! products

The rainbow is Real Red, Pumpin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Tempting Turquoise and Rich Razzleberry. I used the Layering Circles dies to cut each colour; cutting a smaller circle then the larger one to give rings of colour. I then cut a Whisper White circle using the largest die, and pieced each ring on the circle. I also adhered the circle onto the card before I cut it in half….. so I could actually make another one of these!

Rainbow Wish Big Card using Stampin' Up! products

The WISH die cut is taken from the Cupcake Cutout framelits. I die cut it 4 times from Basic Black card stock with Multipurpose Adhesive sheet attached, this stuff is awesome and makes die cuts really easy to stack like this! I added a hint of Wink of Stella once it was attached to the card to give it a touch of sparkle.

The final part of the card is the word BIG stamped out in Basic Black ink using the Labeller Alphabet. I have been meaning to grab this stamp set for ages, and it finally hit my stamp shelves a couple of weeks ago! Its great, not only is the font really cute, but it includes multiples of commonly used letters to make you stamping even easier! Perfect!

What are you ‘Wishing Big’ for at the moment?

GDP #101 – Soft Birthday Blossoms Card

Modern Floral Congratulations Card using Birthday Blossoms from Stampin' Up! for the Global Design Project

I am making a big effort at the moment to be more organised, I have bought myself a new diary, and am attempting to plan my work days…. it already appears to have gone by the way side as I remembered at 3PM yesterday afternoon that I didn’t have a blog post written for today…. or even a card made! I know, it is shocking! But, its ok because the Global Design Project came to my rescue with instant inspiration in the form of a colour challenge…

Global Design Project colour challenge

I am loving this colour combination, paired with Whisper White its bright and fresh…. but I can also see some vibrant watercolour, or paper piecing with this one too. I’ve spent the past week or so prepping some Christmas projects for later in the year, so its nice to step out of Red and Green for a moment or two

Modern Floral Congratulations Card using Birthday Blossoms from Stampin' Up! for the Global Design ProjectThis very soft card was a nightmare to photograph! I think its the soft pinks with the bold Night of Navy…. and a lot of white space… but then that’s why I love this card! Birthday Blossoms is such a pretty, soft stamp set, its really girly…. and works really well with pink! The flowers are heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss powder, and then Flirty Flamingo ink applied with a Stampin’ Sponge, before I punched them out with the coordinating Pansy Punch.

Modern Floral Congratulations Card using Birthday Blossoms from Stampin' Up! for the Global Design ProjectThe rest of the card is equally as simple. A a trio of Bermuda Bay stamped leaves, the sentiment in Night of Navy and a splatter of Flirty Flamingo, along with a couple of wonky layers and a trio of White Perfect Accents to finish.

Simple Sunday | This Little Piggy

Simple Sunday This Little Piggy from Stampin' Up!

I have to admit that this card isn’t all that simple…. but I just couldn’t resist! It is a CASE card (copy and selective edit) and you can find the original by Mary Fish HERE!

Simple Sunday This Little Piggy from Stampin' Up!

I have been playing around with ribbon a LOT recently… although not much of it has made it to much blog yet, I am trying to achieve the perfect bow …. I don’t think I have done too badly here! Mind you, I think that has a lot to do with this ribbon, its the Finely Woven Ribbon in Berry Burst, and it ties lovely bows.

There isn’t much to say about this card… other than I am totally addicted to the Pig! Here she has been stamped on Powder Pink and fussy cut before being popped up on die cut circle. The flower is from the Blossom Builder punch… and it has an Enamel Glitter dot in its centre

Have a great Sunday

Techniques Series | Tone on Tone Embossing Paste

Tone on Tone Embossing Paste Video Tutorial using Happy Birthday Thinlit from Stampin' Up!

Stamping Techniques Series

Over the last few weeks we have explored a variety of Masking techniques, but I think this one is my favourite! Tone on Tone Embossing Paste…. now, I know that this isn’t really about the masking… but there is a Mask involved! So… I’m classing it as the final piece in our Masking journey!

Techniques video using Lift me up from Stampin' Up! How to use Embossing Paste

This fun card uses Lift Me Up and the coordinating Up and Away Thinlits…. along with the cloud mask from the Party Pattern Masks pack. I am loving the dimension created by that embossing paste… while it doesn’t distract from the card. I still slightly obsessed with this balloon die…. I really could just die cut it all day long

Top Tips:

  • Move EVERYTHING off your desk before you start…. seriously Embossing Paste gets everywhere (or is that just me?!)
  • Use a tile or Silicone Mat to mix your Embossing Paste and Re-inker
  • Add as little re-inker as possible… add too much as the embossing paste will become runny and you wont get that crisp masked effect

Tone on Tone Embossing Paste Video Tutorial using Happy Birthday Thinlit from Stampin' Up! UK

I am such a Purple girl…. I have a friend who buys me things, just because they are purple! … but I don’t use Wisteria Wonder as much as I should, it is so pretty… especially when paired with Gold.

Tone on Tone Embossing Paste Video Tutorial using Happy Birthday Thinlit from Stampin' Up!The Happy Birthday Thinlit is so pretty… although it can be a bit difficult to adhere to your projects. I would advise that you add Multipurpose Adhesive Sheet to the reverse of your card stock before running this through your Big Shot, this then gives you a self adhesive die cut for you to stick to your project!

This card is finished with a trio of Gold Stars from the Metallic Enamel Shapes…. gonna need some more of those really soon!

What is your preferred method for adhering detailed die cuts?

Congratulations Happy Birthday Gorgeous

Stained Glass technique colouring on Vellum using Happy Birthday Gorgeous from Stampin' Up!

Every once in a while I open up my order books to family and friends, and make special occasion cards for them. A few weeks ago one of my Sister-in-Law’s (I am blessed with 3!) asked if she could have a Congratulations card for a wedding they are attending in September…. I do hope that I have managed to get this card to her before this post goes live!

Wedding Congratulations card using Happy Birthday Gorgeous from Stampin' Up!

This card looks really complex…. but its all trickery! The flowers and leaves are all stamped and heat embossed in White onto Vellum. I love the look of heat embossing on Vellum, don’t you? Then I turned the Vellum over and used Stampin’ Write Markers to add colour to the reverse side… The leaves are in Wild Wasabi and Lemon Lime Twist, while the flowers are Rick Razzleberry, Berry Burst and Rose Red. The trick is to colour and LEAVE! Vellum takes a few minutes to dry…don’t be tempted to touch, or you’ll smudge the ink!

Stained Glass technique colouring on Vellum using Happy Birthday Gorgeous from Stampin' Up!

While you’re waiting though, you could do some more Heat Embossing…. and organising the sentiment!

The card is completed with a trio of die cut flowers from Rose Garden…. and a few Rhinestones for some sparkle too!

TGIF #120 | Lots of Love Thinking About You

Challenge Card using Lots of Love from Stampin' Up! Thinking of you card

Oh how I am loving doing challenges again! each week they have me totally inspired and ready to create… this week’s challenge comes courtesy of TGIF Challenges and it is the fabulous sketch.

I was totally inspired by this one, and just had to use the Whole Lot of Lovely Suite… I am loving this pack of Designer Series Paper at the moment… and might have something special coming using it really really soon!

Challenge Card using Lots of Love from Stampin' Up! Thinking of you card

I wanted this card to highlight the Designer Series Paper and so the rest of the card is pretty simple. The card base is Smoky Slate, and I added a hint of some tone on tone stamping with one of the stamps from Lots of Love. The other feature of this card us the ribbon… can we just stop and admire that super pretty Shimmery Basic Black Ribbon.

The sentiment is also taken from Lots of Love, although the original stamp has a wreath around the sentiment, I used a Basic Grey Stampin’ Write Marker to selectively ink the stamp to just give me the sentiment. It was then punched using the Classic Label Punch.

I cannot wait to see what everyone does with this sketch too!

Pootlers Birthday Blog Hop – August 2017

Pootles Papercraft Birthday Blog Hop August 2017 Boys Birthday Card using Happy Birthday Thinlit from Stampin' Up!

Hello! If you are joining me as part of the Pootles Birthday Blog Hop… welcome… if not…. welcome anyway! I am so pleased to see you here. Every week on a Sunday I share a card that is simple to make…. so here we go!

I have a fairly quick and easy Birthday card for you today. I have been playing with the Happy Birthday Thinlit so much recently, its a great addition to any card! Here I have die cut it 4 times… 3 times out of So Saffron and once in Dapper Denim and then layered them together for a dimensional look

Pootles Papercraft Birthday Blog Hop August 2017 Boys Birthday Card using Happy Birthday Thinlit from Stampin' Up!

How did I get that Ombre effect? Super Simple…. Before die cutting the Dapper Denim card stock for the top layer of my sentiment, I added Dapper Denim ink (tone on tone) with a Stampin’ Sponge. I love a bit of ink blending; ink up your sponge, and starting off the card stock, swirl the sponge in small-ish circles working your way up the card stock. Add more ink to the bottom than the top and you get this fab effect!

The background on this card was even more simple however… that is just strips of Washi Tape! Fun and quick and easy!

How do you use you Washi Tape?
