Just Add Ink 442 | Beautiful Promenade

Before I get into this week’s Just Add Ink card (yes, I would LOVE to do this challenge every week…. we’ll see how that goes!) I just wanted to say a massive Thanks to the Design Team who picked my card from last week as their winner!

Just Add Ink 442 Sketch Challenge cardmaking rubber stamping

This week’s challenge is a fun sketch, and the Design Team have made some fabulous cards which really do show off how different cards can be, even when they all have the same basic layout.

Pretty handmade Valentines card using Beautiful Promenade from Stampin' Up! for Just Add Ink with StampinByHannah

Last week I had a bit of a tidy up of my craft room. It’s incredible how quickly craft rooms descend into a completely disastrous mess isn’t it?! I’ve been in my new room now for about 6 weeks and it already needed a dig out. Anyway, I pulled out some of my sets of dies that I haven’t used for ages, and put them next to my desk so I wouldn’t forget about them again. I’m, sadly, one of those people who needs to see things to remember to use them. I’d be no good with one of though pretty craft rooms where everything lives in a cupboard!

This card uses the Beautiful Promenade stamp set and coordinate Beautiful Layers thinlits, and the stitched shapes framelit circles, because I can’t make a card without them!

Beautiful Promenade Stamp Set Valentines Card using Stampin' Up! products with StampinByHannah

There is a stitched circle behind the pretty die cut centre piece, although my camera hasn’t picked it up awfully well (I’m still playing with the new photography set up!).

This card also uses the very pretty Grapefruit Grove Foil Sheets, which are FREE with a £45 order during Sale-a-bration. Now, I know that these aren’t available in all markets because they have been SO popular… but at the time of writing you can still get them in the UK!

Inspire.Create.Challenge #034 | Hey Love

Oh. My. Goodness, It’s been a month since our last Inspire.Create.Challenge, but it’s still come around awfully quickly. This past couple of weeks I’ve been busy prepping for my January Classes and Events, and the Hey Love stamp set has been sat out on my desk quite a bit… So, it only seemed right for it to find it’s way onto my first Inspire.Create post of 2019 too

Cute Valentines Card using Hey Love from Stampin' Up! with StampinByHannah

We have a fun colour combination for this challenge; Call Me Clover, Night of Navy, Pineapple Punch, Calypso Coral and Lovely Lipstick. While these bright colours make me very happy, having them all together gave me a bit of a headache. So instead I opted to use the power of White Space on this one.

Handmade simple Valentines Card using Hey Love from Stampin' Up! with StampinByHannah

Me and my husband don’t usually go for mushy Valentines Cards, and so I thought this simple design was a pretty perfect choice for him… and who doesn’t love a Crocodile wearing heart boppers!

Make It Monday | How to create a fun watercolour background for your cards

How to create a fun watercolour background for your hand stamped cards using Little Twinkle from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah Make It Monday How to create a fun watercolour background for your cards

Make It Monday banner

A few weeks ago I was playing around with the Little Twinkle Stamp set (read: should have been making samples for my Twinkle Twinkle Suite Share!) and shared a picture of what I was working on over on Instagram. One of my lovely followers asked how I created the watercolour background… so, here is the tutorial!

Make It Monday Watercolour Background Video Tutorial Using Stampin' Up! Products

I’m a little bit in love with this colour combination; Blueberry Bushel, Coastal Cabana and Gray Granite. So pretty, and a great way to make a pretty yet masculine card…. although I think if I was to make this again I might hit it with a bit of Wink of Stella for some sparkle too!

There isn’t really any trick to creating this type of background, other than patience! There are two layers of watercolour on this card, plus some over stamping. You can see all the details in the video tutorial…

Stampin’ Up! inks are water-based, which allows you to use the same inks that you stamp with to create fun watercolour backgrounds like this one! To use your inks for watercolour, just squeeze the ink pad before you open it to put in onto the “lid”… this is a little tricky on the new style ink pads, and so you might choose to use a drop of a re-inker onto a clear block instead.

Video Tutorial…

Once the first layer of watercolour is laid down, leave it! Let it dry naturally for less warping, or hit it with your heat tool for speed. The second layer is where you create those fabulous harsh lines and blend the colours. Then, once its all dry, you can add some stamping! Here I’ve added stamping using the Stampin’ Up! Craft White Ink… this ink is a pigment rather than being water-based like the rest of the Stampin’ Up! inks. This allows you to get a really crisp white image, but it does take a little longer to dry.

Masculine Valentines Card using Little Twinkle from Stampin' Up!

The sentiment is stamped last, although the Blueberry Bushel in has been resisted by the White Pigment for a further fun watercolour effect.

Thoughtful Thursday | Love you Eclipse Card with Heart Happiness

Guys Valentines Day card using Heart Happiness from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah Thoughtful Thursday Love you Eclipse Card with Heart Happiness

Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator StampinByHannah Thoughtful Thursday

Ok, so this is one of those times that I am more than a little late… I’m blaming the day job, but really its because my organisation system has gone out of the window, my head has been in the shed, and I quite simply forgot! Today I’m sharing the card I made for Valentines!

I could have course let it go and missed the card off my blog, but it’s so damn pretty that I just HAD to share it with you.

How to make a masculine Love You card with Heart Happiness from Stampin' Up!

This card was totally inspired by the lovely Dena Rekow over at The Creativity Cave. The hearts are from the Heart Happiness stamp set, after each one was stamped I added a wash of water to create this pretty Faux Watercolour look. The hearts are stamped onto Shimmery White card stock, which is just perfect for watercolour techniques, PLUS it makes your projects sparkle!

Can you believe that this is also my very first Eclipse card (talk about late to the party!)… This is such a fun technique! It is a fun way of adding a subtle sentiment, by die cutting your word from your stamped piece, and then inserting it back but popped up onto dimensionals! (and what is even better…. that YOU die is FREE during Sale-a-bration! Awesome!)

Thoughtful Thursday Love You card with Heart Happiness from Stampin' Up!

The rest of the sentiment is stamped with the Labeler Alphabet stamp set, and a hint of splatter added to find the card.

Cardmaking Techniques Video Tutorial Rock and Roll Stamping with Heart Happiness from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah Techniques Rock and Roll Stamping with Heart Happiness from Stampin’ Up!

Stamping Techniques Series

For our final Valentines card inspiration, I have a really quick and easy, technique for you… one you might well have done before, but may not have played with for a while! I certainly haven’t pulled this one out of my techniques stash for ages. Actually I think the last time I did Rock and Roll stamping was for THIS video!

Cardmaking Techniques Video Tutorial Rock and Roll Stamping with Heart Happiness from Stampin' Up!

I also particularly love the colour combination on this card…

What colours are you planning for your Valentines this year?

I have been trying to add Top Tips to these blog posts recently, but I think I probably covered everything in the video this week! It’s such a simple idea… I would suggest inking your stamp with the lighter ink colour first, and then adding the darker colour around the outside… although I do have a way of doing it the other way around (that isn’t going to get dark ink into your light coloured ink pad) that I might film soon!

So, I hope that you have enjoyed visiting my blog this week. Check back tomorrow for a fun blog hop with my team…

Valentines with Jar of Love

How to make a cute Valentines card using Jar of Love from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah Valentines with Jar of Love

So, I have a heap of Valentines Inspiration for you this week, and today is no exception! I was looking at my stamp shelves last week in preparation for today, and I spotted the Jar of Love stamp set. I haven’t used this properly in ages, and I had totally forgotten that there are some really cute heart dies in the Everyday Jars framelits… and this card was born!

Valentines Inspiration cute Love card with Jar of Love from Stampin' Up!

Aren’t those hearts adorable?! There are a combination of stamped hearts and die cut ones, all in Blushing Bride. I’ve also varied the dimension of the hearts, with some flat and some popped up onto a Stampin’ Mini Dimensional.

Isn’t this colour combination just perfect for Valentines… I think it would make lovely Wedding Invitations too!

Make It Monday | Fun Heart Happiness Card

How to Make a cute card using Heart Happiness from Stampin' Up! with Video Tutorial

StampinByHannah Make It Monday Fun Heart Happiness Card

Make It Monday

This week I have a whole week of Love themed projects and a whole heap of Valentines inspiration. Today’s card is one you might recognise from Saturday, but I loved it so much that I just HAD to make a video!

How to Make a cute card using Heart Happiness from Stampin' Up! with Video Tutorial

I can’t decide which is my favourite version of this card; the Night of Navy and Gold, or this Fresh Fig and Silver (I am a purple and silver girl at heart!). My favourite part of this card is the Glimmer paper Amazing! I am in LOVE with this die so much… It’s taken from the Celebrate You Thinlits dies, which you can find as part of Sale-a-bration. Have you checked out the Sale-a-bration goodies yet? They are totally awesome! There are two tiers of products this year; Level 1 items can be chosen as your Free gift when you place a £45 order, while Level 2 items (which is what this die is) can be picked as your Free gift when you place a £90 order.

There is a fair bit of Heat Embossing on this card. I will admit I have a bit of a heat embossing addiction at the moment (Did you see my January Facebook Live… ALL the cards had Heat Embossing!). This is one of those WOW techniques for me, I just can’t help be totally memorised by watching a dull looking powder turn into shine-y loveliness! I do have a couple of Heat Embossing top tips:

  • Use your Embossing Buddy! – This is one of those items that you never buy because pretty stamps take priority right?! but seriously, this thing is amazing… rub it across your card stock before you start, and it stops the powder sticking where it shouldn’t
  • Take your Embossing Powders out of the tiny pots! – I store my Embossing Powders in larger tubs, it stops me making such a mess!
  • Get your Heat Tool good and hot before you start trying to melt your powders … it stops your card stock warping quite so much

Make It Monday How to create a quick and easy Heart Happiness card using Sale-a-bration goodies from Stampin' Up!

Ok, so that is my card for today. I have a super cute card for you tomorrow, so please do check back! Oh, and have you signed up for my emails yet…. I have a fabulous card for my subscribers today too!

Inspire.Create.Challenges 007 | Colour Challenge

Inspire.Create.Challenges Colour Challenge December 2017 using Lots of Love from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah Inspire.Create.Challenges 007 | Colour Challenge

Inspire.Create.Challenge December Colour Challenge

This weeks Inspire.Create.Challenge has a festive feel, however, I made a very conscious decision NOT to make a Christmas card this week. Partly because I have made more Christmas cards this year than I have people to send them too, and partly because tomorrow is the LAST day to shop Stampin’ Up! to ensure your goodies arrive before the man in the red suit, and so I would expect that you have probably finished making this years cards too!

How to make a quick and simple valentine using Lots of Love from Stampin' Up!

Keeping things pretty simple this week… I’m sure we have enough to do without making complicated cards too. So, it’s an almost one layer affair with a Big ol’ sentiment and some accent stamping!

I love this type of card for a quick ‘thinking of you’ or ‘thank you’ card. I thought this would be perfect for a simple Valentines, or even a sympathy card. There are lots of times we send Love… and why not send it handmade!

Inspire.Create.Challenges Colour Challenge December 2017 using Lots of Love from Stampin' Up!

All the stamps here are from the Lots of Love stamp set. I am LOVING big sentiments at the moment, ones that fill the front of your card and make sending that handmade Love really quick and easy. Once that sentiment is stamped in Crumb Cake, it’s a simple case of adding leaves and flowers in the other colours in key areas. When I’m accent stamping like this, I tend to go for 3 groups of stamped images, the same way I do when I’m added embellishments. The eye loves a trio of things, and it helps to pull you around the card too.

We would LOVE to see what you do with this colour combination, check out the other Design Team members creations over at Inspire.Create.Challenges!

The Love Between Us Knows No Distance

Stampin' Up! UK Going Global Valentines card

Seeing as now February is now here, it is definitely time for some Valentines projects! Regular readers of my blog will know that I got married last year, and so this year is my first Valentines day as a married woman, saying that I’m sure its not going to be any different from any other year where we do absolutely nothing or are both working 12 hour shifts!

Stampin' Up! UK Going Global Valentines card

Still, I do need a card right?! well, I think this is the third Valentines card I have posted on the blog this year, so I might save this one for our dating anniversary in April (yes, we celebrate two anniversaries!)

I made this card in about 10 minutes, messing around with ink at the end of my most recent group stamping event. I host a stamping event for my group of Stampin’ Friends each month where we get together, stamp and natter about all things Stampin’ Up! This month we made a heap of cards using our Sale-a-bration goodies (some of which I’ll share later in the week) but I was waffling about watercolouring, and how you really don’t need to buy Watercolour paper (although ours is an awesome addition to your card making), I really enjoying watercolouring on ‘flat’ card stock like our Shimmery White card stock, or this which is our Whisper White Thick card stock (the Thick is important, as the standard weight is a bit thin and tends to warp a little too much for my liking)

Stampin' Up! UK Going Global WatercolourAnyway, I watercoloured this patch of Tempting Turquiose just to demonstrate that Whisper White Thick card stock is a great medium for water colour, and then this card happened!

The stamp set is Going Global, wonderful for a Valentines card for the man in your life (no flowers!) stamped in Basic Black Archival ink (watercolour safe!). I watercolored the banner in Real Red, and added a spatter of Wink of Stella in Gold before calling my master piece complete!

What are you making for your love this Valentines?
