Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper Card

Designer Series Paper Thank You Card using Naturally Eclectic from Stampin' Up!

I work a few weeks ahead, always (well, almost always!) and projects usually end up here on my blog a few weeks after they have been made. I am also usually quite organised (I am a planner lover, and just bought myself a new diary….. such a stationary geek!) so cards sit in a nice neat pile on my desk until they are featured on my blog…. except that this card was made and immediately sent, and therefore never got chance to sit in the blog pile, and as such has been forgotten about!

I love Designer Series Paper…. but struggle to use it on cards (Sound familiar?!). So I thought I would share some of my tips and tricks to using Designer Series Paper with you today:

Cut it….. seriously, its easier to use once you have cut it (you can always buy more…. I like the ‘one to cut, and one to stroke’ idea!)
Grab the coordinating pack of Card stock with your Designer Series Paper…. that way you always have card stock that coordinates with your Designer Series Paper. (you could take this one step further and grab the ink pads to match too!)
Matt your Designer Series paper on coordinating card stock to make it pop
If you love lots of the Designer Series Paper….. you could always grab a paper share, saving you cash and the issue of having to use up lots and lots of sheets of 12 x 12″!

This particular card uses Naturally Eclectic Designer Series paper…. which I cut to pretty random sizes and then cut card stock layers to match. The sentiment is from Thankful Thoughts and the card is finished with a hint of that lovely Night of Navy Crinkle Seem Binding, yum!

Fun Floral Thank you card!

Every now and again I get requests from family and friends for a special card for a special occasion. Recently some of my work colleagues requested a Thank You card, and this is what I made….

Now, I have a confession to make with this card….. it uses 4 different stamp sets! Yes, I know, but my excuse is that it is a big 8 x 8″ card, and I needed to fill the space! So, step by step…

I stamped the sentiment from Thankful Thoughts in the centre of the card using Sweet Sugarplum ink
The Fresh Fig Flowers came next, taken from Lots of Love – I love this stamp set! and I added leaves in Old Olive, Pear Pizzazz, and Sweet Sugarplum too
Then the Blushing Bride leaves filled in the gaps (the stamp is also from Lots of Love)
The card was still missing something, so I grabbed one of the stamps from Oh So Eclectic. This fun stamp is either tiny bird foot prints, or little flowers…. I can’t decide… but it is stamped in Sweet Sugarplum
But there was still something missing…. yes, some gold embossed splatter from Awesomely Artistic! Perfect

So such a big card, it needed some stamping on the inside too. I took each element from the front and stamped it inside.

I do hope the lovely lady that received it enjoyed it!

Make It Monday | Faux Shadow Embossing Technique

Make It Monday Video Tutorial creating a fun thank you card using the faux shadow embossing technique with Thankful Thoughts and Playful Backgrounds from Stampin' Up!

Hello! Welcome to another Make It Monday here at StampinByHannah! I have a great card project for you this week, along with a quick, simple and fun technique using heat embossing!

I found this card on Jennifer McGuires Blog a few weeks ago, and thought it looked simple enough! So I had a go….

The background on this card was almost a piece of Designer Series Paper… but with the Retiring List, lots of papers have already sold out and I didn’t want to share something you might not be able to get! So, instead I created by own DSP using the Playful Backgrounds stamp set, stamped in Emerald Envy and Early Espresso.

The sentiment is the main focus of this card. To create the Faux Shadow effect the sentiment is first stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with clear powder. Then, and this is where a stamp positioning tool like the Stamp-a-ma-jig is super helpful, you stamp again but offset it slightly, heat emboss again in a colour…. and as if by magic it looks super dimensional! Awesome!

The Sentiment is also on a die cut from the Stitched Shapes Framelit dies (I LOVE these!) to give it a little extra something!

Customer Thank You Cards

I LOVE sending Customer thank you cards, I always pop something into the post to say thanks for choosing me as your Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator. The fact that you have chosen to shop with me is a huge honour, and really, sending a little handmade thank you is not enough… but there just aren’t enough hours in the day.

Normally I wait until the end of the month to send my Thank you cards, but I made a few of these early for those lovely ladies that shopped my Buy One Get One Free sale earlier in the month. Now, I wouldn’t normally throw 3 stamp sets at one card either but I got a little carried away with the stamping! I do love Stamping you know! lol

Global Design Project 053 | Gold, Night of Navy and Watermelon Wonder

Thank you card featuring Swirly Bird and Thoughtful Thanks from Stampin' Up! UK

Oh yes, I’m at it again! twice in 2 weeks playing along with the Global Design Project. This week its a colour challenge, and I am LOVING it! Gold, Night of Navy and Watermelon Wonder!

I’m loving Night of Navy and Watermelon wonder together, really classy. One of the fabulous design team used the Swirly Scribbles dies and Gold foil paper on their project this week and I just loved the look and so used it as my starting point for this card.

From the gold swirl, I stamped some of the cute flowers from Swirly Bird in Watermelon Wonder and Versamark (for a touch of Gold embossing) and die cut them using the matching framelits.

The Thanks is taken from Thankful Thoughts, and is stamped in Night of Navy. I had thought about adding some ink splatter, but I’m glad I left it off, giving this clean card.

Global Design Project 052 | Thankful Thoughts

Thank you card using Thankful Thoughts From Stampin' Up! UK

Wow, it is SO long since I took part in any challenges! This summer has been so crazy; I have no idea how I have managed to keep to my regular schedule, but I have – and now, now things are getting back to normal, now my day job has settled down a little, and James has gone back to placement, I might actually have some time to get back to things here on my blog, some workshops and classes organised and event maybe some other bits and pieces done too!

This weekend is busy here on the blog though, I’ve managed to join in with the Global Design Project today, and then I have 2 awesome Blog Hops happening too! Yay!

This week’s challenge is to CASE the gorgeous Teneale Williams. Teneale is so talented and her blog is always so inspiring, and totally worth checking out.

I’m feeling quite bright and cheery with this card; loving the summery colour combination. I think it’s probably because I’ve spend most of my crafty time over the past few weeks working on Christmas-y projects. I was starting to get that festive feeling, but I think with the sunny weather I’m so not in the mood for Christmas crafting this week (saying that there are still festive projects coming this to you this week!)

I used the card from Teneale as a sketch, which I then rotated by 90 degrees to create this card. The sentiment is from Thankful Thoughts, although the full stamp reads ‘Thank You So Much’ I selectively inked the stamp using a Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Write Marker.

Stamping on Designer Series Paper!

Quick and Simple Thank You card using thoughtful thanks from Stampin' Up! UK

I am always looking for ways to get more use from the products I buy, ways you can stretch your stash, ways to get creative without buying heaps of stuff! I love crafting (and shopping), and I am lucky enough to have half a room dedicated to my hobby (and business) but its very small and I am quickly running out of room! So, time to get creative with what I own rather than buying more (even though I would love to shop!)

Last month I had the Fruit Stand pack of Designer Series paper out on my desk almost all month, and this piece of paper really called to me to be used simply on a card! trimmed slightly smaller than my card front and simply stamped with the sentiment from Thankful Thoughts I almost called this one done…

but it just needed an extra something, and some splatter of Flirty Flamingo and Gold Wink of Stella finished this one off! I love this card so much that my customers will be finding a variation of this in the post over the next week or so!

Pop of Gold

Swirly Scribbles Awesomely Artistic Thank You Card using Stampin' Up! UK products

I have mentioned many times before about why I love being a part of Stampin’ Up! One of the many things that make it awesome is being able to connect with other demonstrators from around the world. I am a member of a demonstrator group on Facebook, and every week or so the admins set us a challenge – and you all know how much I love a good challenge!

A few weeks ago the challenge was ‘Pop of Colour’ – we were challenged to make a card in Basic Black or Night of Navy and White, adding a single pop of colour.

Now, I was talking about this challenge with my husband James, and he suggested Gold. I rarely get James talking about anything crafty, and his involvement in my stamping hobby is doing my accounts (no hiding any purchases around here!), so for him to actually get involved in crafty conversation meant that I HAD to take his suggestion!

Now, I usually aim to make simple projects that you can Copy and Share (CASE) without having to spend a fortune on Stamps! However, every now and again I like to go to town and make something really special – and I think this card fits into that category.

The floral stamp in the background is taken from Awesomely Artistic, stamped in Basic Black Archival ink onto a piece of Whisper White card stock. The Black diagonal stripes are taken from the Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack – I’m really getting into using stripes of Designer Series Paper on my cards at the moment, loving the extra detail it adds.

The swirl (from the Swirly Scribbles dies) is die cut from Vellum, and attached with a hint of multipurpose glue.

The card was finished with a Thanks sentiment – from the Thankful Thoughts stamp set – heat embossed in Gold, as well as a hint of Gold with the Gold Metallic Thread wrapped around the card at the edge of the Designer Series Paper.

Make It Monday | Ink Blended Rainbow

Make It Monday using Thankful Thoughts Swirly Scribbles From Stampin' Up! UK

I LOVE a rainbow! I have been trying to get this card made for a few weeks, ever since the Rainbow Challenge Tag appeared on YouTube – Thanks to Dawn Woleslagle of WPlus9!

How bright and fun is that card! and it is so easy to create too – check out the video tutorial for the step by step

The Swirly Scribbles thinlits are super awesome! I am obsessed with that die cut, and the other swirly bits and pieces – they make a great accent to any card. I’ have die cut it here in Basic Black as the card is so bright and colourful, but it looks good in any colour

The Thanks is from Thankful Thoughts.
