Make It Monday | Petal Palette Floating Frame Card

Over recent weeks the ‘Floating Frame’ card has gone somewhat viral on Facebook and Pinterest! I LOVE the idea, but I have to say I am not over keen on spending a fortune on Glad Press and Seal to get the technique to work. So, I had a think about how I could do this technique with things that are already in my craft room…. and hey, Washi Tape to the rescue!

Fun Floating Frame Technique using Washi Tape and Petal Palette from Stampin' Up! with StampinByHannah

I also couldn’t miss the chance to use the retiring Petal Palette stamp set one last time before the end of May, although I can already see some new stamp sets that are coming in the upcoming Annual catalogue that will work just as well.

This card has a few steps, and while I rest up and wait for baby to arrive I don’t have the energy to film a video for you. Instead, I thought I would break it down into steps…

How to create a Floating Frame Card…

  • Stamp the Petal Palette floral corner stamp in Memento Ink and use Blends to colour. I’ve used the Blackberry Bliss due and Granny Apple Green, with a hint of Flirty Flamingo here.
  • Use the coordinating dies to cut out the stamped images.
  • Then, using your grid paper as a guide, arrange the floral corners into a sort of loose frame shape.
  • Select 2 of the Rectangle Stitched Dies (I would suggest using two that aren’t particularly close in size) and arrange them on top of the die cuts, creating a frame.
  • Take a long-ish piece of Washi Tape and stick it onto your arm or clothes to remove some of the stick. Then take small pieces off this long tape and stick the dies to the die cuts.
  • Run the floral corners and stitched dies through your die cutting machine.
  • Before removing the Washi Tape, remove the pieces of die cut outside of the frame and add Dimensionals to the frame pieces.
  • Adhere to your card front, and then remove your Washi Tape and dies.

The sentiment is take from a different stamp set; Stitched All Around (which is going forward into the new catalogue), stamped in Blackberry Bliss to coordinate with the Floral corners and card base.

Today’s project is a fun one… we all send cards all the time, but why does a card have to be card stock folded in half?! I think today’s project would make a super cute invitation, or a fun ‘just because’ card, or a great way to dress up a gift card!

Making a fun fancy fold Pocket Card using Gorgeous Grape and Stitched All Around from Stampin' Up!

Firstly, lets just talk about those colours! Oh my goodness I am in LOVE with this colour combination: Coastal Cabana, Gorgeous Grape and Petal Pink. One of the best things about Stampin’ Up! products is the coordination. The Card stock is the same colour as the Ink, is the same colour as the Embellishments, is the same colour as the ribbon, Designer Series Paper and more! I would LOVE you to try Stampin’ Up! inks…. we have SO many fabulous colours. You can check them all out HERE

This is simple project…. really it’s just an envelope with a fun insert! But there are SO many ways to dress this up… I would LOVE to see your versions! Share them with me over on my Facebook Group!

Measurements:

Card stock: 7-7/8x 7-7/8″

Belly Band:

Petal Pink: 1-1/2 x 11″

My other love at the moment is the fabulous Stitched All Around Bundle! That label die is finding it’s way onto a heap of projects at the moment. Did you see my Notecards and Envelopes Project last week… it used the same die, but it looks so different!

What is your favourite crafty thing this month?

International Blog Highlights | Teacher Gifts!

International Blog Highlights Teacher Gifts Teabag Gift Box using Share What You Love Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah International Blog Highlights Teacher Gifts!

Kylies International Blog Highlight banner

Welcome to StampinByHannah today for the August Blog Highlight! I adore taking part in these every month and was totally honoured to be chosen as a top pick in July! You can see the winners blog hop from last month HERE!

I think Kylie has set us a really tough challenge this month! It might just be me though… Teacher Gifts?! Now, for us here in the UK, this is a little late as the kids are all currently off school for the summer. But, I don’t have any children either… so the whole thing is a bit lost on me to be honest! However, I’m always up for a challenge…. so, Teacher Gifts it is, and Teacher Gifts you have got!

How to make a fun Teacher Gift using the Envelope Punch Board and Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up!

These are really simple little gifts, because I understand that you need something quick, and probably multiples of them for all those fabulous Teaching Assistants (I know about those… my mother and mother in law both work in schools!). So, I’ve these cute boxes are made in a snap using the Envelope Punch Board, and each hold 4 individually wrapped tea bags.

The Designer Series Paper is called Share What You Love, and because it’s a heavier weight than most of the Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Paper it’s great for boxes and bags! I’ve even taken a sanding block to it for a fun shabby effect.

The sentiment and dies are taken from the Stitched All Around bundle. I am in LOVE with these stamps and dies! This sentiment is particularly special to me; as I used to sing this song to a resident every single morning… it always made her smile, and she would sing along to. I left that job back in April, and I know that that lady has since passed (not wanting to bring this post down!)… but it’s one of the reason’s why I LOVE my day job! I know that I’m a nurse, rather than a teacher…. but these would make awesome nurses gifts!

Cute Envelope Punch Board Gift Box using Share What You Love Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up!

Measurements:

Designer Series Paper; 6-3/8 x 6-3/8″

Punch and Score at 2-1/2″ and the 4″ on on the first side, then use these lines as a guide to punch and score the other 3 sides.

InspireINK Blog Hop | Stitched All Around Embossed Anniversary Card

How to use Stampin' Up! dies to emboss

StampinByHannah InspireINK Blog Hop Stitched All Around Embossed Anniversary Card

InspirInk Blog Hop Header Stampin' Up! team blog hop

Thanks so much for stopping by here at StampinByHannah today, I LOVE taking part in the InspireINK blog hops with some of my Stampin’ Sisters. Today the very lovely Sally Shaw has picked our theme; Embossed Anniversary!

This is quite timely for me with my 3rd Wedding Anniversary in a couple of weeks time, I will share the card I make for my husband once he has actually seen it so today’s card is a bit of a twist on the theme. It does feature embossing, but the sentiment isn’t quite anniversary, can you forgive me for that? This card would make a really lovely card for an anniversary though, you’d just need to change the sentiment.

Embossing with cutting dies using the Stitched All Around Bundle from Stampin' Up!

This card uses the fabulous Stitched All Around Bundle, which has a lovely mix of cutting and embossing dies, as well as some really pretty stamps, and I am more than a little in love with that label piece!

To create the background I first stamped a piece of Gray Granite card stock with Gray Granite ink. Then I ran it through the Big Shot with the background die from the set. This die isn’t designed to cut at all, instead it embosses and it works really really well with the new Stampin’ Up! Big Shot Embossing Mats and the following Big Shot Sandwich;

  • Big Shot Platform,
  • Cutting Mat, Die (with the embossing edge facing upwards),
  • card stock,
  • THIN blue embossing mat
  • white impressions pad.

I do have a video on my YouTube channel showing this sandwich if you want to check it out.

Embossed Best Wishes card using Stitched All Around from Stampin' Up!

The circle piece is actually 3 dies layered together, with the heart and smaller circle embossed, before the outer circle was die cut. The card is completed with a heat embossed sentiment on a label cut from Merry Merlot card stock, and a trio of Basic Adhesive-Backed Sequins

Do hop along to check out the other Embossed Anniversary card creations, and I hope to see you again!
