InspireINK Blog Hop | Happy Birthday card with Bloom and Grow

InspirInk Blog Hop Header Stampin' Up! team blog hop

Goodness me, January is busy for Birthdays! Luckily, this means I had plenty of opportunity to make a card for this months InspireINK blog hop and the January theme of Birthday!

Happy Birthday Card using Bloom and Grow from Stampin' Up! with StampinByHannah

This card was inspired by one in the Stampin’ Up! annual catalogue. Did you know that the catalogue is jam packed with ideas and inspiration, it’s so much more than just a list of stamps! Anyway, I needed a nice Happy Birthday card for my Aunt’s birthday last week, and this card was just special enough that it was perfect!

It uses the Bloom and Grow stamp set and coordinating dies from the Annual Catalogue, along with the Country Floral 3D Embossing folder on a base of Coastal Cabana card stock.

The floral sprays in this stamp set are so pretty, I had a tough time deciding which one to use if I’m honest. However, I picked this large one in the end and stamped it four times. Twice in Versamark to heat emboss in gold, and twice in Memento Black to colour with Stampin’ Blends. There is no fancy colouring here, just basic colouring, but I think it looks awesome!

Detailed Floral Birthday Card using Bloom and Grow from Stampin' Up! with StampinByHannah

The floral sprays were coloured with the Blackberry Bliss duo (although I think my light marker might need replacing, it looks a bit light here!), along with the light Shaded Spruce and Dark Pool Party Blends.

The sentiment is taken from the Painted Poppies stamps set that I think is now a permanent feature of my desk, I just cannot put it away!

Inspire.Create.Challenges 061 | Birthday Bonanza Colour challenge!

Oh dear! It’s another one of those colour challenges that I wonder what I was thinking when I set it! However, I’m rather pleased with my creation in the end, so maybe it’s not all that bad!

Birthday Bonanza Birthday Card for Inspire.Create.Challenge with Stampin' Up! products and StampinByHannah

This week’s Colour challenge is to use; Early Espresso, Flirty Flamingo and Pretty Peacock.

I just love Pretty Peacock, so much that I’ve recently painted my dining room wall in a very similar colour. Here I’ve used Pretty Peacock as the card base, with tone on tone stamping to add a little something extra!

Cute Birthday Card using a Puffin using Birthday Bonanza from Stampin' Up! with StampinByHannah

The Puffin is stamped in Early Espresso with a Flirty Flamingo beak. This cute dude is from the Bonanza Buddies stamp set, and has coordinating dies too! I bought this stamp set with Niamh in mind, but I do think I’m going to get more use out of it that I first thought!

TGIF Challenges | Happy Birthday with Honey Bee

This week’s TGIF Challenge is one that I think a LOT of people can relate their crafting too… its a theme challenge and they’ve picked ‘Happy Birthday’. I don’t know about you but I make WAY more Happy Birthday cards than anything else!

Happy Birthday card using Honey Bee from Stampin' Up! with StampinByHannah

This is one of those cards that magically appeared in my brain! Don’t you love it when that happens?! I was thinking about this weeks TGIF challenge whilst feeding my daughter, and my first thought was of inking this Designer Series Paper. This is the Golden Honey Specialty Designer Series Paper, which is FREE with a £45 order during Sale-a-bration, but also coordinates with the Honey Bee stamp set (and matching dies!)

Cute Bee Birthday Card using Honey Bee from Stampin' Up! with StampinByHannah

I knew I wanted to use Coastal Cabana rather than a yellow, and I wasn’t sure how it was going to work with the Bee die cut, but I think it works. The flowers are so cute, and work so well formed into a wreath. They are adhered onto a scalloped circle of vellum using Tombow glue, which was a little tricky, but you only need such a tiny amount of glue.

Pootlers Team Blog Hop | Happy Birthday with Peaceful Poppies

Join the Number 1 Stampin' Up! Team in the UK

Hello!

Welcome to the Poolers Team Blog Hop! I have to admit to being a bit of a last minute larry this time (in fact, I wrote this blog post after the deadline! oops!)

Peaceful Poppies Happy Birthday Card using Stampin' Up! products for the Pootlers Team Blog Hop with StampinByHannah

When I first saw the catalogue last month I knew that the Peaceful Poppies Suite was at the very top of my list. The Designer Series Paper alone for me is an absolute winner! It’s that pretty watercolour, floral that Stampin’ Up! do SO well, with a strong theme of Blackberry Bliss, a colour I just cannot resist!

This card was the very first thing I made with it too! A Blackberry Bliss card base, layered with a piece of that gorgeous paper, and then added to with a couple of die cuts, a sentiment and a scattering of sequins! Just the sort of card that makes my heart happy.

Inspire.Create.Challenge 058 | Colour Challenge with Rooted in Nature!

Oh my goodness, I am rather pleased with this card… particularly because I whipped it up at the last minute on Monday night! You’d think I’d be a bit more organised seeing as I set the challenges, but no, at the moment I’m a last minute Annie. But, last minute is better than not at all isn’t it? I pulled the three colours of today’s colour challenge off my shelf, and the Rooted in Nature stamp set popped into my head, and very quickly this card appeared in my mind’s eye.

Thinking of you card using Rooted in Nature from Stampin' Up! with StampinByHannah

This week’s colour challenge is Blushing Bride, Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive, and each colour is on each one of those fabulous leaves.

I do enjoy a good ink-y technique, and this one is quick and very effective. Ombre Stamping is super easy, and all you need is your stamp, 3 ink pads and a couple of sponges. It does also help if you’ve got well ink-ed pads.

Starting with the lightest colour, load the sponge with ink and the use the sponge to add the ink to the stamp. Then work through the colours, adding each one to the stamp. Breath onto the stamp to reactive the ink before stamping. See, quick and simple, and it gives some very pretty results.

Ombre stamping Thinking of you card using Rooted in Nature from Stampin' Up! with StampinByHannah

The leaves were then die cut using the coordinating Nature’s Roots dies, and popped up on the card using a few Dimensionals. The sentiment is stamped in Cherry Cobbler, and I did use my Stamparatus to make sure I got it straight and solid (I actually stamped it twice, which is why I’ve ended up with a bit of an inky smudge!)

Then, the card is finished with a double bow of Linen Thread and a trio of Noble Peacock Rhinestones.

Do check out the other Design Team creations over on the Inspire.Create blog and add your own makes using this week’s Colour Combination too!

Inspire.Create.Challenge 057 | Christmas Time Fancy Fold

This week’s Inspire.Create.Challenge is Fancy Folds! I LOVE a fancy fold project, and cannot wait to see what everyone creates…. particularly as I’m in a bit of a creative rut at the moment, and could really do with a fast injection of inspiration to make my Christmas Cards!

Oh Christmas Tree Fancy Fold card using Stampin' Up! products with StampinByHannah

I love this Fancy Fold, it’s super simple to create and always impresses people when I gift it! I suppose it’s a sort of Z fold, and its really easy to jazz up to!

Measurements;

Card base; 14.8 x 21 cm, scored at 4.5 and 10.5 cm

Whisper White layers; 14.3 x 4 cm, 14.3 x 5.5 cm, and 14.3 x 10 cm

Designer Series Paper; 13.8 x 3.5 cm and 13.8 x 5 cm, plus a scrap for the inside

Fancy Fold Christmas Card using Most Wonderful Time from Stampin' Up! with StampinByHannah

The Most Wonderful Time Suite is just stunning, and comes all together in one complete kit (you just need to add Card Stock and Ink!), and it makes really cute and quick cards.

I’ve also added a Stitched Oval from the Stitched Shapes Dies as a simple background for that lovely tree stamp.

Oh Christmas Tree Fancy Fold Card using Most Wonderful Time from Stampin' Up! with StampinByHannah

I finished the card with 5 of the self adhesive stars that comes in the Most Wonderful Time suite, and a simple sentiment

Come Sail Away Anniversary Card…. and a make from James!

Hey folks!

Well, I’ve had a super busy few weeks settling back into my full time day job. But, as part of that I’m trying hard to get back into some creative me time, and that includes a spot of blogging.

It was our wedding anniversary back in August (yes, this card has been sat around waiting for me to write about it for a while!) and of course I HAD to make James a special card. He always steals some time in my craft room for our anniversary or my birthday, and so a bought card just isn’t an option! Saying this, an anniversary card for a guy is NOT the easiest make…. but it is made easier with a more masculine suite of products and so I pulled out Sailing Home.

Anniversary Card using Sailing Home from Stampin' Up! with StampinByHannah

The Come Sail Away suite is obviously a bit nautical, which I think often works well for a man’s card, but also has a more masculine colour palette; Balmy Blue, Basic Black, Mossy Meadow, Night of Navy, Soft Suede, and Whisper White.

I have also added Pretty Peacock to this, because I just cannot put this colour away at the moment, I just love it! (so much so I’ve just painted a wall in my kitchen a very similar shade!). The sentiment and compass are both stamped in Pretty Peacock, while I also added a watercolour wash to a square of Watercolour Paper too!

Pretty Peacock Come Sail Away card for a man's anniversary card using Stampin' Up! products with StampinByHannah

The Sailing Home stamp set that coordinates with this fab suite also has a set of matching dies. So, I also added some die cut pieces of rope and a ships wheel, along with die cutting some of the stamped images from the stamp set. I adore this layered look, how about you?

James’ Card…

Like I said earlier, James also makes me a card for our anniversary. I think he’s done a pretty good job this time!

Simple Punched Butterfly Card using Stampin' Up! Products with StampinByHannah's husband!

He’s punched the butterflies from card stock using the Butterfly Duet punch and added the sentiment using the Well Said stamp set…. all in shades of purple (my favourite!)

Inspire.Create.Challenge #055 | Bloom and Grow Thank you card

Hey folks!

So nice to see you this week, I’m trying to get back onto the blogging horse, and am aiming for 3 blog posts a week. I managed to blog twice last week, and I’m already writing this week a bit ahead of time so fingers crossed I can drop back into a routine!

Inspire.Create.Challenge colour challenge Night of Navy Old Olive Lovely Lipstick Blushing Bride Thank you card using Bloom and Grow from Stampin' Up! with StampinByHannah

This week’s Inspire.Create.Challenge is a fun colour combination; Blushing Bride, Lovely Lipstick, Night of Navy and Old Olive. I almost took a Christmas-y twist on this one, but then I spotted Bloom and Grow on my stamp shelves and went floral instead!

The floral spray is heat embossed with Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder and then watercoloured with Lovely Lipstick, Night of Navy and Old Olive. I’ve add a background wash in Blushing Bride, the sentiment stamped in Night of Navy and a trio of Night of Navy jems from the Noble Peacock suite to finish.

Watercolour thank you card using Bloom and Grow from Stampin' Up! with StampinByHannah

All the watercolouring is done on the new Fluid 100 watercolour paper, available through Stampin’ Up! It’s SO nice, I love a bit of watercolouring and this paper is smoother than the previously stocked Watercolour Paper and so makes for such a nice finish.

Hop over to the Inspire.Create.Challenge blog to see the other Design Team’s creations and add your own using the fun colour combination too!

See you next time!

Beauty and Joy Team Swap Card

Hey folks!

Yes, I’ve finally managed to get around to blogging an actual creative project! This might well be card you’ve seen before, particularly if you received a copy of the Autumn Winter Catalogue from me in September, or if you took part in a recent team card swap.

Beauty and Joy Christmas Card using Stampin' Up! products with StampinByHannah

Beauty and Joy is one of those stamp sets in the catalogue that you might have accidentally skipped over. There are always a few hidden jems, and this one was so hidden that I didn’t remember ordering it! However, I’m so glad I did because its a really fun set to use. It features a collection of different pots and plants that covers a variety of seasons and occasions, and there are loads of looks you can create by mixing and matching different leaves, pots, stems and accessories too!

Here the tree leaves are stamped in Shaded Spruce (Stamped off once), with an Early Espresso trunk, Real Red berries and a Soft Suede basket pot.

A Joyful Christmas Card using Beauty and Joy from Stampin' Up! with StampinByHannah

I also couldn’t resist pairing this stamp set with some of my current favourite dies; these are the Stitched Nested Labels and they are so versatile they never seem to get put away!

Thanks so much for stopping by StampinByHannah today, and I hope to see you here again soon

Inspire.Create.Challenge 049 | Thank You Free as a Bird

Hey folks! It’s time for another Inspire.Create.Challenge project today, and this time we had a colour combination to work with. Now, for all I set the challenges for Inspire.Create I never seem to be organised enough to set a challenge that I can actually see a project for, and I have to admit that when this challenge appeared in my diary I did do a bit of a double take at the colours! But, it is a challenge for a reason…

Thank you card using Free as a Bird from Stampin' Up! with StampinByHannah

So, the colour combination at work here is; Basic Gray, Mango Melody, and Pool Party… sorry girls!

I am still loving the Free as a Bird stamp set, but I realised that I hadn’t actually made a card with the single bird stamp! So, here we are. I’ve stamped it in Smoky Slate rather than Basic Gray because I’m a very bad demonstrator and my Basic Gray ink is retired Archival and so doesn’t work with Blends. But all the classic inks do.

Free as a Bird coloured with Stampin' Blends by StampinByHannah

I’m not very good with my Stampin’ Blends, but I am trying to practice, and so I’ve used Pool Party Light and Dark to attempt some colour blending on this bird. I’m happy with it, although it is pretty subtle. The beak is actually light Pumpkin Pie (because I don’t have the Mango Melody Blends… again, bad Demo!)

Free as a Bird Thank you card with Nested Stitched Labels from Stampin' Up! with StampinByHannah

The Free as a Bird stamp set also comes bundled with these fabulous Nested Stitched Labels dies. They add a little extra something to every card with their unusual shape and fun stitched edge, I can’t get enough of them!

Please hop over to the Inspire.Create.Challenge blog for more inspiration using this strange colour combination from the fabulous Design Team, you can also share your makes with us there too!
