Techniques Video Masking using This Little Piggy from Stampin' Up!

Stamping Techniques Series

I am loving the new This Little Piggy Stamp Set and just could not resit a spot of Masking with it…. before this series ends next week! But, do not despair… there will be more Techniques Videos! I promise

Video Tutorial How to Create a fun Z fold card using This Little Piggy from Stampin' Up!

How fun is that Pig! Just so cute… and so easy to Mask too.

Miss Piggy is stamped in Basic Grey Archival ink… and then the stamp, stamped off onto a piece of Sticky Note (those ones where the sticky is all over work best!). This is then cut out… yes, it’s fussy cutting… no, I’m not sorry… she’s just so cute! You then cover the stamped image with the sticky note mask… and add ink!

[arve url=”https://youtu.be/ax1fpWGd_00″]

This alternative Z fold card is also quick and easy to do…

Measurements:

Card stock – 21 x 14.8 cm (scored on the long side at 3 and 10.5 cm) (8 1/4 x 5 7/8″, scored on the long side at 1 and 4 1/8″)

Designer Series Paper – 7.5 x 14.8 cm and 3 x 14.8 cm (3 1/8 x 5 7/8″ and 1 x 5 7/8″)

Whisper White – 7.5 x 14.8 cm (3 1/8 x 5 7/8″)

Techniques Series | How to use a Die as a Mask

I Like You Friends Thank You Card using Oh So Eclectic from Stampin' Up!

Stamping Techniques Series

I have one card, two ways for you today! I shared a card yesterday using the Oh So Eclectic Bundle…. and I have another for you today! The dies in this bundle are special… some of them cut, some emboss, some cut the image out of the card stock, and some … leave the image in! and it is these dies that we are playing with today.

I created my own mask using the diamond pattern die in this set….

Creating a mask with these dies is super easy… I simply run them through my Big Shot with piece of Window Sheet, but you could use Vellum… I use Window Sheet because that way I can save my mask and use it again! Running Window Sheet through the Big Shot can be a little frightening, as it makes a whole series of strange whaling and cracking noises…. but its OK, it doesn’t damage the Window Sheet or, more importantly, the Big Shot!

Oh So Eclectic Card Masking Video Tutorial from Stampin' Up!

This first card uses the mask with the fabulous New Embossing Paste! I am LOVING playing with this stuff, and I have a couple of videos coming soon all about it. I have coloured the paste here using Night of Navy ink…. but I really needed to add some more ink to get that true Night of Navy colour. Still, it’s not a disaster, just a happy accident! and a learning experience… because next time I know I need to add more!

The second card, made in the video, I ink blended Night of Navy through the Mask. This was I guaranteed myself a true Night of Navy colour! but, I sacrificed that dimension that the Embossing Paste brings.

I Like You Friends Thank You Card using Oh So Eclectic from Stampin' Up!

This card is finished with a series of die cuts using the stamps and dies in the Oh So Eclectic bundle….

What is your favourite bundle in this years Stampin’ Up! catalogue?

Techniques Series | Masking with Glue

Techniques series masking video tutorial masking with glue floral card using Birthday Blossoms from Stampin' Up

Stamping Techniques Series

I love using techniques in my card making, and one of my favourites in Masking. But there are so many different ways to mask, so over the next few weeks I thought we would explore them together. This week we are ‘Masking with glue’ and while this isn’t my original idea (I found it a few years ago on Ruth Trice’s blog) this version of masking is one I do often, and always gets a ‘ooooh, how did you do that reaction!’

Techniques series masking video tutorial masking with glue floral card using Birthday Blossoms from Stampin' Up!

This technique is really easy, but needs some time….1. because applying the glue can take a while, and 2. because it needs a good few hours to dry!

So, how do you mask with glue!

Ok, so the real trick is the Stampin’ Up! Fine Tip Glue Pen! This great glue is nice and runny, drys clear and comes with a needle point applicator.

Tips and Tricks:

  1. Stamp your image in Archival ink (either Basic Black or Basic Grey) and give it a minute to dry
  2. Use the Fine Tip Glue pen to ‘colour’ the image with glue…. once the stamped image is nicely covered, leave it to dry (I usually leave it overnight to make sure it is properly dry)
  3. Then you can stamp over it, or blend ink over the glue and the stamped area will remain white
  4. Clean the masked area with a dry paper towel to ensure that the white really pops!

Techniques series masking video tutorial masking with glue floral card using Birthday Blossoms from Stampin' Up

The rest of the card is finished with a sentiment die cut with the Layered Circles and some fussy cut leaves stamped in Emerald Envy. The final part of this card is the embossed panel. I am having heaps of fun with this embossing folder at the moment, its called Seaside… and while it is great for sea themed cards, its just as pretty for other cards too!

Technique Series : Masking with Tape

Techniques Series Video Tutorial Masking Technique using Sticky note tape and Delightful Daisy from Stampin' Up!

Stamping Techniques Series

Hello! oh, I am loving doing Techniques Videos for you again! I have missed doing these, but things have recently changed with my day job (for the better!) leaving me more time to stamp, blog and spend time with you. I cannot wait!

This week I am continuing my Masking series, and this week we are looking at using tape as a mask. Did you see my card yesterday, which used the same technique….

StampinByHannah Technique Series Masking technique using Delightful Daisy from Stampin' Up!

As I discussed last week, I love masking as a technique, I think it’s because I LOVE a good bit of white space. This version of masking is super simple; using a piece of sticky note tape (or low tac masking tape, use what you have on hand!) to cover an area before stamping. Check out the video for all the details…

This card also uses a strip of that beautiful Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper, along with the Daisy Delight stamp set. Now, I have a confession here: this stamp set coordinates (and comes bundled with the pretty Daisy Punch) however, it is currently not available, it’s just so popular Stampin’ Up! can’t keep it in stock! But, I don’t want you to miss this stamp set, yes there is a cost saving bundle, but it only saves you £3.25…. and you NEED the stamp set now! I will of course let you know when the punch is available again.

Techniques Series Video Tutorial Masking Technique using Sticky note tape and Delightful Daisy from Stampin' Up!

I hope you are loving this technique’s series as much as I am. I would LOVE to know what Techniques you would like me to explore, let me know in the comments below

Love Hearts Week | Distress Resist Congratulations Card

Love Hearts Week Distress Resist video tutorial using So In Love from Stampin' Up! UK

Love Hearts sweets Video tutorials

Ok, so it is Wednesday, and today – even though it is Love Hearts Week –  I have a card project for you, because I couldn’t not share this card with you almost as soon as I had made it!

One of the many ways I find inspiration on a daily basis is YouTube, and one of the very lovely people I follow is the gorgeous Jennifer McGuire (I am going to try not to sound like some sort of crazy fan-girl now….) she shares some fabulous techniques, but she doesn’t use Stampin’ Up! inks…. so I like to test out her ideas using Stampin’ Up! products. Which is what I have done today.

Love Hearts Week Distress Resist video tutorial using So In Love from Stampin' Up! UK

This technique is really very simple; select your stamp (always a good place to start!) I love using line images for this, but you could totally use something more solid too. Ink it up in Versamark and stamp in onto Whisper White card stock. Heat set it or leave it for a while to dry, and then sponge ink over the top to get this cool, delicate effect.

You could totally add white or clear embossing powder after the Versamark to make a more vibrant image too.

Jennifer McGuire Distress Resist Technique using inks from Stampin' Up! UK

And those blank Enamel shapes…. you’ll have to watch the video to see how I made those!

Question of the Day: What is your current favourite YouTube Channel

I don’t think I could possibly choose, I am enjoying watching fitness and diet theme-d videos at the moment

Pootlers Design Team | Paper Piecing Glamper Greetings

Pootles Design Team Glamper Greetings Paper Piecing Birthday card using Stampin' Up! UK stamps

Pootles Papercraft Design Team November 2016

I am loving using the Glamper Greetings stamp set! I hope you are enjoying the month of Glamper Greetings (seeing as I have a whole weeks worth of projects next week!)

When this stamp set initially landed in my craft room I had heaps of techniques and cool things to do with it, including something I haven’t done for ages … paper piecing. We have so many great Designer Series Paper at the moment, and loads of them would be awesome for this. I chose the Warmth and Cheer Designer Series Paper Stack more because it was already out on my desk that anything else, but I love it!

Pootles Design Team Glamper Greetings Paper Piecing Birthday card using Stampin' Up! UK stamps

To create this card I stamped the Glamper on all three sheets of Designer Series Paper, as well as a piece of Shimmery White Card stock, in Archival Basic Black ink. The shape is super easy to fussy cut, and so I cut the parts out of the Designer Series Paper and then re-assembled the paper Glamper on a piece of Whisper White, which I then cut out again.

The background has a simple watercolour wash in Soft Sky and Pear Pizzazz, super simple!

Question of the Day: What’s your favourite way to use your Designer Series Paper?
