Pootlers Blog Hop | Decorating your Christmas Table

Stampin' Up! UK pillow box Christmas favour

bog hop-001

Hello! Welcome to the 3rd Pootler’s Team Blog Hop! I am so pleased you could join us! Everyone has worked so hard to create wonderful projects for you, please follow the hop around and leave comments on the fabulous blogs to come to.

Thanks

I have to admit that although I have been organising this hop for a couple of months, I only managed to actually create my project on Monday! but, never mind, I’m here now

Stampin' Up! UK pillow box designer series paper

If you are one of my regular readers you will know that my box of pre-order goodies sat lonely in my office for 3 weeks while I went off and got married. Coming back from honeymoon and getting back into crafting has taken a few weeks, and several days of playing with the new products, but this pillow box was one of the first things I made. I love cute packaging, but making my own boxes isn’t something that comes naturally to me, so this pillow box die is awesome! Anyway, when it came time to make my Blog Hop project (a littler later than planned) I looked around my craft room for inspiration and came across this little box, and I fell in love all over again!

Stampin' Up! UK pillow box Christmas favour

I made a second pillow box from Cherry Cobbler card stock this time, using the Seasons of Cheer Designer Series Paper as an accent. I will admit that the trees were a bit of an after thought, but they tie the pillow box favour into the rest of the project

Stampin' Up! UK Christmas Table Pootles Blog Hop

If I ever get a Christmas day at home, this is totally what my table is going to look like!

Stampin' Up! UK pillow box cutlery holder

The pillow box die is really versatile. Here I cut the tabs off one end, to create a cutlery holder. I adore this Designer Series Paper, I believe it was hand painted by one of the fabulously talented ladies at the Stampin’ Up! Home Office in Utah, and it is stunning! This tree paper has some wonderful Poinsettias on the reverse that are going to have to find their way onto the centre stage of a project or two! This pillow box is finished with a belly band of Vellum and Silver Glimmer Paper, with a tag and three vellum flowers punched from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack

Stampin' Up! UK Christmas tag

Christmas just wouldn’t be with a tag. Last year I created 12 Tag of Christmas, and I have been thinking about doing something similar again this year, but I’m not sure yet. (Whatever I do will have to start soon though!). This tag features the same Designer Series Paper, Vellum and Glimmer paper combination, with those cute Itty Bitty flowers and the Love Peace Joy Stamp from A Little Something (the stamp set that comes bundled with the pillow box die).

Actually I can’t believe I have got to the end of my blog post without mentioning the Stamps! Shocking!

Hope you enjoy the rest of the hop, hop forward and check out what the wonderful Caroline has created this time.

See you again soon!

Festive Fireplace Week – Tealight Holder

Stampin' Up! UK Festive Fireplace Tealights

Stampin Up! Festive Fireplace Week

Welcome to the final post in my Festive Fireplace week blog series, I do hope you have enjoyed it and found some inspiration. You can find all the other projects in this weeks worth of posts by searching for ‘Festive Fireplace’ in my search bar

Stampin' Up! UK Festive Fireplace Candles cat Christmas

This project comes with a bit of a disclaimer – DO NOT put real tealights inside! Please use electric tealights for this, I will not be held responsible for any accidents caused by this project!

Right, with that out of the way, fancy making one?

They are really simple to make, and I am loving the cat with the bow collar too. The Chocolate Chip version uses Very Vanilla, Cherry Cobbler and Tip Top Taupe, while the Soft Sky version uses Whisper White, Pear Pizzazz and Sahara Sand

Stampin' Up! UK Festive Fireplace Tealights

Measurements:

Card stock – 11 3/4 x 3″ (29 x 7.5 cm)

Score on the long side at 5″ (12.5 cm) rotate by 180 degrees and score 5″ again

Stamp your fireplace on both sides, lining the bottom edge up with the score lines you have just made, and cut out the centre of the fireplaces with a craft knife and metal ruler

Use Tear’n’Tape to attach vellum behind the fireplaces, and add mantle pieces, cats and any other decor items.

Form into a tent shape, rounding the corner with the Project Life by Stampin’ Up! corner punch, and joining the tops together with a staple.

Cover the staple with a bow, and insert your electric tealight

Festive Fireplace Week | Vellum Shaker Card

Stampin' Up! UK Festive Fireplace Shaker card

Stampin Up! Festive Fireplace Week

I hope you are enjoying this week of blog posts, you can find the other projects in this series by searching for ‘Festive Fireplace’ in my search bar (near the top of the side bar). I am loving this stamp set, although this card didn’t turn out quite as I imagined.

Stampin' Up! UK Festive Fireplace Shaker card

The shaker part of this one was created using the Winter Wonderland Designer Vellum; I cut a piece 2 1/2 x 6″ and scored at 3″, taped the two sides together leaving the top open, added some sequins from my stash (although there are some great sequins in this years annual catalogue, links below) and sealed the pocket with my handy stapler! I had planned to have this pocket open to the outside and inside of the card, but managed to stick the whole thing together before I had cut the hole! Silly me!

The Fireplace is stamped in Cherry Cobbler on Very Vanilla, and the centre cut out with my trusty craft knife. The only further additions are then the garland atop the fireplace and the sentiment stamped in Mossy Meadow

This card would look extra awesome with a bow of Early Espresso ribbon! and those Gold Basic Metal Buttons are a must, so pretty!

Stampin' Up! UK festive fireplace black cat christmas cardI’ve been getting inky in my craft room again with this one! The Fireplace is stamped in Sahara Sand, straight onto my Whisper White matt. Then, using my handy sticky notes I masked off the area inside the fireplace and added Daffodil Delight, Delightful Dijon and Tangelo Twist with a sponge.

The fire is stamped using other handy Stampin’ Write markers (Early Espresso,Tangerine Tango and Crushed Curry), colouring directly onto the stamp to get a multi-coloured effect, before die-cutting with those matching framelits (loving those!) and with a black cat added to finish.

Lovely

Festive Fireplace Week | Technique Tuesday edition!

Stampin Up! Festive Fireplace Week

I have been playing around with this stamp set for a few weeks, and it makes lovely Christmas cards, but I knew I could stretch this one and make some cards for other occasions too!

Stampin' Up! UK Festive Fireplace Birthday Card

It is one of my brother in laws birthdays at the end of the month (am I damn near positive he is never going to see this post so I’m not worrying about sharing it early!) and decided this was the perfect opportunity to try something a little different with both the stamp set and my supplies!

I am completely in love with watercolour at the moment, and have some plans for some paintings soon (scary!) but I always use my ink pads to watercolour with and decided I would try something different with my Stampin’ Write Markers. I have to say, it didnt work as well as I had hoped. These markers are water based, and use the same ink as our ink pads, so I decided to try watercolouring with them direct to paper. I did get some movement of the ink, but not as much as I do when I apply the ink with a paint-brush so I think I’ll be sticking to that in future!

This card also features the wonderful Winter Wonderland Designer Vellum, which I cannot get enough of! and have used as part of this months Stampin@Home kit class, for more information on that click on the image below

Thanks for visiting my little blog today and I hope to see you again tomorrow for another card using the Festive Fireplace!

Festive Fireplace Week | Catalogue Case

Stampin' Up! UK Festive Fireplace

Stampin Up! Festive Fireplace Week

Welcome to a brand new week at StampinByHannah! I have great plans for this week, all using the Festive Fireplace bundle from Stampin’ Up!®

When the latest catalogue dropped through my door (well, popped into my email!) I fell in love with this stamp set. I think it’s probably the cat image, although I am still working out how to colour it like my Freda.

Stampin' Up! UK Festive Fireplace

This card is a CASE (copy and share everything) from the catalogue, and it just shows why I love this bundle – could I ever be bothered to cut out that fire? or the stockings? nope! but the dies are awesome!

I am also loving watercolour at the moment (more of that coming tomorrow!) and adding water to soften these images really makes this card gorgeous!

The only thing with this card is that it is all on Watercolour Paper, and so some of the dies needed to run through my Big Shot twice just because it is a thicker paper.

What is your favourite bundle in the new catalogue? Haven’t got one yet, get a physical copy HERE or digital copy using the link in the sidebar

Alternative Uses for the Watercolour Wishes Card Kit

Stampin' Up! UK Watercolour wishes gift packaging

The Watercolour wishes kit is awesome! I can’t remember if I have mentioned it much before, but this years Stampin’ Up!® kits are amazing. We have instant crafting satisfaction 8 times in the annual catalogue and 3 times in the brand new Autumn/Winter book too! That’s a whole lot of crafting! From cards, to stationary, to home decor there is something for everyone.

Stampin' Up! UK Watercolour Wishes Thanks Card

My favourite kit by far is the Watercolour Wishes card kit, which makes 20 unique cards all featuring the totally on trend Watercolour look but without any of the mess! I have got to mention the stamp set that comes with this kit, it features 12 stamps covering all your most important everyday card making occasions

The great folks at Stampin’ Up!® have made a video to show you what’s in the kit and what the cards look like if you follow the instructions

However, I had to find some alternative uses for this kit. I just don’t need all that many cards (not when I make cards for my blog, and customers, and custom orders!), but I do use cute bits of packaging for gifts and things

Stampin' Up! UK Watercolour wishes gift packaging

Aren’t they cute! I will admit to using the kit to make a different card, but I could not resist making that heart card into a sweet card for my new husband (not that there was an old one!) I also used one of the larger cards in the kit to make a handy folder style gift, just adding some of our lovely Watermelon Wonder Dotted Lace Trim as a closure.

That box is such a handy size. Taking one of the larger cards score at 1″ on all four cards, before creating the box base from a piece of Thick Whisper White card stock.

Measurements:

Lid – 8 1/2 x 5 1/2

scored on all four sides at 1″

Base – 9 7/16th x6 7/16th

scored on all four sides at 1 1/2″

The belly band was created by cutting a 1 1/2″ strip off the long side of a piece of A4 Watermelon Wonder card stock, and helps to hide the score line on the top of the box (it should have been a card remember!)

All three projects were finished using a couple of the embellishments from the kit; Washi Tape, Wooden Elements and Sequins!

Wonderland!

Stampin' Up! UK Wonderland card

Hello!

This is likely to be a shorter post than usual today, as I am writing this on Wednesday night before this goes live on Thursday! I have never been this dis-organised with my blog, ever! But since getting home from honeymoon the world and his dog wants to see me, trying to change my name is turning into an enormous job, and so little things like writing my blog have slipped – still I haven’t missed a regular post yet! Although, I didn’t do my week in review yesterday, but that’s really because I have nothing to say!Stampin' Up! UK Wonderland card class

and, seeing as I have been crazy busy, I also haven’t made a great deal either! so, today I thought I would share one of the cards that you can make at home as part of my Stampin@Home class for September.

I am in love with this stamp set, Wonderland, those trees are stunning. Here, paired with that beautiful vellum and some gentle inking, I love this card!

You can find out all about Stampin@Home this month by clicking the option at the top of the page

Technique Tuesday | Ink Blending

Stampin' Up! UK Wonderland Ink Blending

This weeks Technique is one I have used a lot recently, I have a small pile of cards that all feature this same technique, and I love it!

Stampin' Up! UK Wonderland Ink Blending

This technique uses ink, ink and more ink! be prepared for inky fingers with this one!

To create this card you will need; several shades of a similar colour and a Stampin’ Sponge. This card uses Pink Pirouette, Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry, Blackberry Bliss, along with the Wonderland Stamp set and the brand new Archival Basic Black Ink.Stampin' Up! UK ink blending technique tuesday wonderland

Top Tips:

  • I chop my sponges into between 4 and 6 pieces, and label each one with a piece of card stock to help keep my fingers clean
  • Tap your sponge in your ink pad to load it with ink, starting off your card stock, rub your sponge in circles, working the ink onto the card stock
  • Start with the lightest colour first, and slowly blend in each additional colour.

I’m loving this stamp set, those trees are simply stunning! why not check out my Stampin@Home class this month featuring the same stamp set!

Seasons of Cheer!

Stampin' Up! Seasons of Cheer Designer Series Paper cardmaking

Hello!

welcome to a fresh new week here at StampinByHannah. I have to admit things are insane around here at the moment, I am struggling to get back into the swing of life after the Wedding and Honeymoon – 2 weeks away from home is too long I think 🙁 and so I am a little behind with my usual blog admin. I did however take a personal day last Friday, moved my craftroom to the sofa and make a stack of projects whilst catching up on the last few weeks of The Great British Bake off! Although, it did leave me wanting cake!

Stampin' Up! Seasons of Cheer Designer Series Paper cardmaking

I shared a sneaky peak of this card last week, totally outside of my usual style and comfort zone, however, that is my crafting aim at the moment – to step outside my comfort zone, to make cards I wouldn’t usually create, to share more of my creations, and to book some parties and classes outside of my home (if you want to host, please drop me an email!)

At this point, I have a confession to make, I LOVE patterned paper! I LOVE it! I have heaps and heaps of it, and I look at it, and I stroke it, and very rarely do I actually USE it! I find using Designer Series Paper on cards a real challenge. I posted recently in a Facebook group about this, and had a mountain of great suggestions and inspiration, and this card is born of that chat. I am a simple cardmaker, I’m a stamper, and one layer cards with minimal embellishment is my thing….well not anymore!

I am totally in love with this card, and that Designer Series Paper (its called Seasons of Cheer and its on page 29 of the Autumn / Winter catalogue!) and am loving playing with layers and matts, and ribbon and punches and loads of things that I had bought but never used because I was too scared to step out of my crafty bubble.

What do you struggle with when cardmaking?

(oh, that stamp, that’s new too, and it can be found in the Hello December 2015 Project Life by Stampin’ Up! stamp set!)
