Watercolour Thank you

Stampin' Up! UK Watercolour Thank You mens card

This past few weeks have been completely crackers, between new jobs, On Stage Live, family stuff and keeping up with the blog, life has been pretty insane! But never too busy to say a great big Thank You to some of the most important people; you! (and some people that helped me along the way)

Stampin' Up! UK Watercolour Thank You mens card

I sent this card out last week following my amazing experience in Brussels. The wonderful Sam Hammond Donald threw us a wonderful evening off chat, food and wine on the Friday evening. We were joined by Sam’s lovely parents, and I send them this card to just say thanks for a lovely evening.

I LOVE spending time with other demonstrators, discussing crafty makes, business bits and just generally having a great time. The girls I met (some of them for the first time) in Brussels are true friends, that I am so excited to see again in Telford in April at the next Stampin’ Up!® On Stage event. You can join me at that event, just as about joining my group of Stampin’ Friends

The card uses two stamp sets; Gorgeous Grunge and Watercolour Thank You, and three colours of ink; Night of Navy, Mint Macaron and Pool Party.

Technique Tuesday | Watercolour Background

Stampin' Up! UK Watercolour background video tutorial

One of my favourite things to do is play with colour. I love pulling inks out of my Colour Caddy and seeing how they work together, look next to each other and compliment each other to make some fabulous projects! Adding water to out Stampin’ Up!® inks is also pretty high up there on my list of favourite techniques at the moment, either using the inks as watercolour or making a colourful mess – I just love it!

Stampin' Up! UK Watercolour background video tutorial

I created this card completely on video – I am trying to remember to turn on the camera when I am playing with inks and paper, you just never know if the card is going to turn into a masterpiece or a complete mess!

Colour is so important in card making, but Stampin’ Up!® make it so simple; with colour families of matching colours and coordinating products that all work together to help you create wonderful cards, and other items too.

So, before I waffle on forever about how much I LOVE Stampin’ Up!’s® colour palate, shall we watch the video tutorial?

See, creating this brightly coloured background is super simple; just four colour of ink and a heap of water. The colours used here are Daffodil Delight, Delightful Dijon, Pumpkin Pie, and Watermelon Wonder. I did need to add some extra Watermelon Wonder as it began is dry pink, but with some extra ink added we succeeded in creating a lovely orange/coral tone for this card.

The stamping here is from Best Thoughts, one of the lovely Hostess Exclusives for this year – place an order of £150 or more to purchase this set, or host a party. Speaking of which have you heard about my latest Party offering? Male Birthday Card

Stampin' Up! UK Male cards

I know I’m not the only one who’s heart sinks when it comes to Male Birthday cards. They are tricky, particularly when – like me – you’re drawn to flowers and pink!

So, last month it was James’ oldest brothers Birthday. I try really hard not to make themey cards – John likes running, but that doesn’t mean he must have a running themed birthday card, does it?!

Stampin' Up! UK Male cards

This is where Stampin’ Up! outdo themselves, Guy Greetings. What a fantastic guy themed stamp set! I’ve paired it here with Gorgeous Grunge for a really cool grungy look.

Stampin' Up! UK Guy Greetings Male Birthday

I actually got a ‘ooh, that’s cool!’ for this card! I know, I was surprised too! Most of my family are totally not bothered by a handmade anything, none of them understand the effort and thought, and very few actually appreciate what I have done – This does not stop me!

So, the card – a Cucumber Crush card base, layered with a piece of Typeset Designer Series paper and a matt of Very Vanilla – stamped with Gorgeous Grunge in Cucumber Crush and Sahara Sand. Cool, huh?

Gorgeous Potpourri

Sometimes, although not often, I will make a batch of cards without sentiments. Generally it’ll be because I’m testing a colour combination or technique, and discover that I really like the result – exactly what happened here!
Stampin' Up! UK Gorgeous Grunge Petal PotpourriI writing my blogging list a few weeks ago and was pulling stamp sets off the shelf, and these two landed next to each other – Gorgeous Grunge (always a favourite) and Petal Potpourri. I’ll do this quite often as well, generally when I’m completely lacking in inspiration! I’ll just grab two random stamp sets, and three ink pads and see where I end up. Usually its something reasonable, other times its a mess and goes in the bin!

The doily stamp is so pretty, paired with Melon Mambo and punched out with the Flower Medallion Punch (currently on a Weekly deal!). I just love the look of a few of these doilies stacked together, its so pretty.

The rest of the card is a combination of two stamps from Gorgeous Grunge stamped in Blackberry Bliss and Soft Sky. Pretty

Stampin' Up! UK Petite Petals Pootles Gorgeous Grunge

I love petite petals! LOVE LOVE LOVE! and this stamp set combined with the matching punch and Rich Razzleberry just called out to me this week!

There is a stamped layer of Gorgeous Grunge on the Whisper White cardstock, and the flowers are added on top.

There are actually three different flowers here, one stamped on Whisper white, one on Rich Razzleberry and one plan with sponge edges – all using Rich Razzleberry ink! All the flowers are added with glue dots, and the sponged ones are finished with Candy Dot centres!

A super effective, super quick make!

Hello!

Hello! I hope everyone had a great Christmas! I had a short blogging break over the weekend, but I am back and getting ready for the launch of the Spring/Summer catalogue next week! there are some really exciting things coming really soon.

I wanted to let you know that I have updated my blogging calender ready for the new year, and aim to post 2 cards and 2 3-d items a week, with a return of Fancy Fold Fridays, AND more video tutorials! yay!

So, without further ado, lets get to todays card!

Stampin' Up! UK Hello A Dozen Thoughts Pallion Potpourri

When I was planning for this week I thought I would set myself a challenge. So, I randomly selected four ink colours and two stamp sets with the aim of making a couple of cards for this weeks posts. This was the first card I made, using A Dozen Thoughts and Papillon Potpourri, with Gorgeous Grunge accents.

The ink colours I used were So Saffron, Blushing Bride, Rich Razzleberry and Bermuda Bay.

I have to say, I love the look of this card, but the colours wouldn’t have been my first choice of colour combinations. However, I think it works! That is one of the great things about Stampin’ Up! the colours are all designed to work together. Oh, and that the inks match the cardstock because the card base here is So Saffron too!

To finish I added some Candy dots to either side of the Sentiment (punched out with the Modern label punch), and gave the largest butterfly some bling!

Stampin’ Up! event swaps!

As a demonstrator I get the opportunity to go to Stampin’ Up! events, including Regional training events, and Convention, as well as more local team training and special events like the one I attended this week (more one what I saw / heard / etc. coming in the new year!). There are many great aspects to being a demo, not only the events, discounts, and special offers, but the team support and inspiration.

Stampin' Up! UK Sale-a-bration 2015

One of the ways we share inspiration is by making swaps. Many demo’s make items, card fronts and small 3D projects, for all Stampin’ Up! events; including team training. This week was my first ever Stampin’ Up! event; although there has been Convention since I joined I was unable to attend due to work commitments. So this was my first Stampin’ Up! event, and my first attempt at Swaps!

I decided to keep it simple, and use two stamp sets; one I know a lot of demos have, and one they may have overlooked (but I love!); Gorgeous Grunge and Bouquet Toss.

In addition to my swaps, I also made a special card for my upline, just as a special Thank You for the support I have received in my first 6 months as a demo. Thanks Sam!

AW29 – Holiday Home

I recently grabbed the Holiday Home stamp set and Framelits – thanks to Pinterest and everyones wonderful projects! and I just love the cute houses!

So when the latest Around the World Stampin’ Challenge was released I just knew I wanted to use these stamps.

The challenge this time is to make a project using Real Red, Hello Honey, and Crumb Cake, I’m super pleased with what I came up with.

Stampin' Up! UK AW29 Holiday Home Christmas

For this card I used a Hello Honey card base, with a Very Vanilla card matt. I stamped the house image on Crumb Cake cardstock with Crumb cake ink, and cut it out (although I have ordered the framelits, they havent arrived yet!). I gold embossed the sentiment on a piece of Real Red cardstock.

I put the card together and it just looked plan. I’m generally a simple card maker, but it was too simple even for me! So I grabbed for my current ‘go to’ stamp set – Gorgeous Grunge, and stamped in Hello Honey, but it still just didn’t look complete. Bring on more Gold! I really love the look of Gold embossing, and I just think that bit of Gold splatter just proved to be the finishing touch!

Check out the other challenge entries HERE!
