Endless Masked Birthday Card

Handmade birthday card masking endless birthday wishes from Stampin' Up! UK

Super quick post today; I’m writing this in a bit of a hurry on Sunday night… in my Grandparents front room the night before my grandfathers funeral… however I have a happy card for you today

Handmade birthday card masking endless birthday wishes from Stampin' Up! UK

This simple but special card was made for my gorgeous mother in law a few weeks ago.

I love a good technique, and this card uses one of my favourites; masking! I used a strip of sticky note tape to mask before stamping the images from Endless Thanks in Watermelon Wonder, Calypso Coral, Tip Top Taupe, Mint Macaron and Bermuda Bay. The card is finished with a sprinkling of Enamel Shapes

Make It Monday featuring Fruit Stand Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up! UK for Summer Customer Thank You Gifts

Make It Monday with Stampin' Up!

Hello! Welcome to Make It Monday, the day of the week I release an awesome new video tutorial for you lovely people! Yay!

I am so excited about today’s post, mainly because I’m hoping that the first batch of these have arrived with the lovely people that shopped with me last month, but also it’s my 1st wedding anniversary today! I’m off to Newcastle for the day with my lovely husband who surprised me a few weeks ago by getting tickets for Chicago the Musical for tonight! 😀

Right, so what have I got for you today? Customer Thank You gifts!

Make It Monday featuring Fruit Stand Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up! UK for Summer Customer Thank You Gifts

These super cute envelopes each contain a wrapped tea bag! I took delivery of these teabags a few weeks ago, and the smell that filled my office when I opened the box was delightful, so I’m really hoping that you enjoy them as much I as I did!

So far I have two different styles of these, but I can see me making a whole heap of these over the coming weeks and months, using different Designer Series Papers, stamps and colours of card stock! The one with the pears uses the Fruit Stand Designer Series Paper while the other is the Affectionately Yours Speciality DSP.

They are so easy to make with the Envelope Punch Board. I really don’t use this fabulous tool as much as I should! super handy for those awkward sized cards where a standard envelope just wont do.

Make It Monday | Create Your Own Designer Series Paper

Make It Monday Video Tutorial Custom Patterned Paper using Stampin' Up! stamps

Make It Monday with Stampin' Up!

Welcome to a new week at StampinByHannah! This week is gonna be a busy one, I hope your ready!

Last week my gorgeous Team Leader challenged her team to create their own Designer Series Paper using stamps! I love a creative challenge, and for all I have made my own Designer Series Paper in the past it has been a while! So, I stamped some 3 3/4″ squares using the Swirly Bird stamp set, and then made a series of cards with them!

Make It Monday Video Tutorial Custom Patterned Paper using Stampin' Up! stamps

Can you tell that I’m loving the Swirly Bird! I really enjoyed creating these cards, probably because I got to use a whole heap of inks! I will list my colour combinations at the bottom of this blog post, because I think they are fab, but all inspired by the 2015-2017 In Colours; Delightful Dijon, Mint Macaron, Watermelon Wonder, Cucumber Crush and Tip Top Taupe.

I think the easiest way of ensuring success with this is to try and balance the stamps and white areas. You can see I haven’t filled the paper with the images, they have room to breathe, but there isn’t so much white that the stamped images are lost. I find the easiest way to do this is to stamp your largest images first, and then add the next largest, and work back to the smallest stamps. The colour combinations are also important, here I have used two shades of the same colour (Delightful Dijon and Crushed Curry, Watermelon Wonder and Calypso Coral, Mint Macaron and Island Indigo) with a pop of a contrasting colour and a neutral (Sahara Sand) to pull the cards together and ensure they don’t clash.

Make It Monday Create your own Patterned Paper with Stamps using Swirly Bird from Stampin' Up! UK

The cards all all finished the same way, with the Thank You from Endless Thanks heat embossed in White onto a piece of Basic Black Card stock. Super simple, but very effective.

Colour Combinations:

  • Delightful Dijon, Crushed Curry, Cherry Cobbler and Sahara Sand
  • Mint Macaron, Island Indigo, Pumpkin Pie and Sahara Sand
  • Watermelon Wonder, Calypso Coral, Tempting Turquoise, Sahara Sand
  • Tip Top Taupe, Early Espresso, Emerald Envy, Sahara Sand
  • Cucumber Crush, Garden Green, Rich Razzleberry, Sahara Sand

Measurements

Card Base – 8 x 4″ (20 x 10 cm), Scored on the long side at 4″ or 10 cm

Make It Monday | Creating Backgrounds with small stamps

Make It Monday video tutorial creating backgrounds will small stamps featuring Endless Thanks from Stampin' Up!

Make It Monday with Stampin' Up!

This is technique that I use often to get the most out of the small stamps we often find in our stamp sets, using those small stamps to create fabulous backgrounds for our cards. I have a heap of this type of card in planning (mostly still in my head, but I’m sure they will find their way onto the blog at some point!)

Make It Monday video tutorial creating backgrounds will small stamps featuring Endless Thanks from Stampin' Up!

There are several techniques going on on this card. Firstly, I am still obsessed with Masking (class coming soon!) before I got to creating my own background. I first stamped the Thank You from Endless Thanks in Basic Grey, and then stamped it again onto a sticky note. This sticky note then became a Mask as I punched out the Thank You with a 1 3/8″ circle punch. The second mask was a strip of sticky note tape laid on the diagonal across the card.

Enjoy the video tutorial, and keep watching for me making a mistake as per usual! I think I recovered it pretty well though….

The key to making backgrounds with small stamps is the order in which you stamp. I find the easiest way to do this is stamp the largest image first, and the use smaller and smaller stamps to fill in the gaps. I do of course break this rule in my video tutorial, however there is a reason for my madness! I stamped the Watermelon Wonder flowers first, and then the Crushed Curry ones, before I went back to a larger stamp (the leaves) to fill in the gaps –  the reason being that I didn’t want all the leaves to be the same length. I used more masked to cover the flowers, and allow me to stamp shorter leaves.

Global Design Project #033 – Colour Challenge

Global Design Project Colour Challenge using Endless Thanks from Stampin' Up! UK

Hello! Yes, a post on a Wednesday, doesn’t happen very often but I really wanted to join in with the Global Design Project this week! I join in with this challenge blog every now and again (trying to join in more often!) but I don’t think I have ever done a Colour Challenge.

Global Design Project Colour Challenge

I love this colour combination, but couldn’t do quite what I wanted as I hit my card stock drawer I realised I’ve ran out of Calypso Coral card stock!

Global Design Project Colour Challenge using Endless Thanks from Stampin' Up! UK

I have had great fun recently playing with masking techniques and couldn’t pass up the chance to use a mask on this card. I created a mask using one of those all over sticky – sticky notes and my 1 1/4″ circle punch. This then covered the ‘Thank You’ sentiment as I stamped the rest of the card

Colour Challenge using Night of Navy Calypso Coral Sahara Sand

Another thing I have been really enjoying recently is using little stamps to create, I have a video on creating backgrounds using small stamps planned for a couple of weeks time. Yes I have finally started to properly plan again! This past month has been a complete killer but I’m hoping that things are back on the up again, I finally have a clearer mind and can actually get stuff done! Anyway, that’s another story.

So, that’s my entry for the Global Design Project for this week. I hope the that ‘hump day’ isn’t too bad, I’m having the day off today – back to the day job tomorrow!

Speak again soon

Make It Monday – My Heart Smiles ….

Stampin' Up! UK Suite Sayings Endless Thanks Card

Make It Monday with Stampin' Up!

Welcome, to a brand new series on my blog – Make It Monday!

Each week on a Monday I’m going to guide you through making a card (or some other papercrafting project!) in either photos or maybe even a video. I’ve got out of the habit of filming my makes over the past few months and really need to pick it back up again.

StampinByHannah Where I create

I thought I would start this week by showing you my little work space. I actually had to tidy before I could even start to create today, I’m a naughty crafter and I don’t always tidy up when I’ve finished making something! I haven’t actually stepped foot into my craft room / office for well over a week and so the remnants of crafty 2 weeks ago where still on the desk! oops! Oh well, it’s tidy now… ish!

Make it Monday

I needed to make a card for my Granddad (Pops) today, the reason I haven’t crafted in over  a week is because we went to visit him last week. Pops lives about 300 miles away and isn’t all that well at the moment, but we had a lovely few days with him and I love sending a card to him once we get home to let him know.

So, I needed a manly-ish card today, and grabbed for Suite Sayings for the sentiment. I have been wanted to play with small stamp stamping again recently, so also selected Endless Thanks, before selecting four colours; Pacific Point, Watermelon Wonder, Crushed Curry and Garden Green

Stampin' Up! UK Using the Stamp-a-ma-jig SAMJ

I love this sentiment, and know that it something Pops feels too. I spent a lot of time with my grandparents when I was very small and I know that Pops remembers those years fondly, we love reminiscing about things we used to get up to; dressing the dog in Grandma’s beads or walking to the park at the end of the street.

In order to get the sentiment straight on the card I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig. I love this tool, and use it so much more than I thought I would. Its super easy too. I have a video on using the Stamp-a-ma-jig on my YouTube channel.

Stampin Up! Stamping tips and tricks

One of the joys of Make It Monday is being able to show you some of my Stampin’ Top Tips! I love using photopolymer stamps, but they tend to go missing on my messy desk, so…. I stick all the stamps I want to use on a dedicated clear block, that way they all stay together. I also use this idea when using alphabet stamps, and use a clear block to arrange my letters (and check my spelling!)

Make it Monday Using Small Stamps

OK, so the card. Once I had stamped the sentiment in the centre of the top two thirds of the card, I started to add a ring of small stamps around it, forming a loose wreath design. You could draw a faint circle in pencil as a guide, but I prefer to free hand stamp. Here I stamped the yellow flowers first, then the blue, before adding the leaves. These things also look better if each stamp is stamped in odd numbers, so there are 5 yellow flowers, 9 blue and 7 leaves. Then I go back and add in smaller pieces to add detailStampin' Up! UK Make it monday

It’s it cute! I’m sure that Pops will love it!

Stampin' Up! UK Suite Sayings Endless Thanks Card

I hope that you have enjoyed this first Make It Monday, I will be back with anther next Monday probably slightly fatter from eating too much Easter chocolate! I would love to hear your thought and suggestions, or something you would love to see on Make It Monday, just let me know in the comments section below.

Endless Wreath

Stampin' Up! UK Christmas wreath

It’s that time again, time for a Tuesday Video Tutorial! Yay!

I love this card, although I do wish that it had come out a little more circular – how many wreaths have you seen with corners?! but never mind, I love it all the same

Stampin' Up! Uk Christmas card stamping

This card was so quick and simple to stamp, just three colours of ink; Mossy Meadow, Old Olive and Cucumber Crush (with some Real Red for the hearts) and a quick and easy technique; oh and its not even a Christmas stamp set!

How To:

Draw a circle on your card front using a pencil – I drew around a Circle thinlit die but you could use a glass or pot. I also stamped my sentiment at this point to ensure it was centred in the wreath.

Ink up your stamp, and stamp around the circle, changing direction and colour – You could use the second generation stamping to get a variation in colour too

Add the hearts (or berries) with Real Red ink

I think this would look lovely with some added glitter or heat embossing too!

Endlessly Thankful for you….

Stampin' Up! UK Endless Thanks Masking card making

Ok, so I am now away on my honeymoon – just in case you missed it I got married on Saturday! (Yay!) but I am not leaving you, my blog will continue while I am away. However, it may take me a little longer to answer an email and comments, you can continue to place orders via my Webstore and they will not be affected by my absence.

But this card today, it’s for you! For reading my blog, for checking out my YouTube channel, for liking my Facebook page, for re-pinning my Pinterest pins, for all of you!

Stampin' Up! UK Endless Thanks

Once again I am using that Whisper White Thick Card Stock (which I LOVE!), but I still have not mastered getting decent photographs of it yet (White on White is hard folks!)

I am loving using the Endless Thanks stamp set, I just love the little images that all stamp together to create awesome designs. I created a mask for this card, using a piece of Sticky Note tape. First I stamped that banner onto the card in Night of Navy, and then onto the tape. I fussy cut the version on the tape to create my mask. The mask is then applied over the banner on the card, and the stamping then happens over the top.

Those flowers and leaves are stamped in Watermelon Wonder, Crushed Curry and Pear Pizzazz, with those lovely cute hearts added in Night of Navy.

One layer cards are a bit different for me, but I LOVE this one! What do you think? Let me know in the comments section below.

Thanks for reading, and I’ll see you again soon!
