Men’s Cards | Nailed It!

Men's birthday card using Nailed It from Stampin' Up! UK

My goodness, yesterday was busy here on the blog. I was at work, and my phone would not stop buzzing, took me til after teatime to get to work out what was going on…. turns out that THIS CARD I posted last week had won the Global Design Project Challenge for last week. I am totally stunned! I am hoping to get a card made for the challenge this week, but its not going to be today

Guys Birthday Card using Nailed It Bundle from Stampin' Up! UK

I will of course admit that this card is CASE’d from the insanely talented Rochelle Blok from Australia.

I made this card for my father-in-law’s birthday back in December. He is always a challenge to make a card for, not only because he is a man, but he also has quite specific interests – he’s a VW car enthusiast, classic campervan’s in particular, but we don’t have anything like that in the catalogue, so I have to revert to ‘manly’ stamps! Except when I spotted this stamp and die bundle in the catalogue, I immediately thought of David!

Men's birthday card using Nailed It from Stampin' Up! UK

The ‘Happy Birthday’ sentiment is taken from the Sale-a-bration stamp set Designer Tee. You can get this for FREE when you spend £45, or you buy the Nailed It bundle in wood-mount!

The card itself is fairly simple. The hammer and saw are stamped in Basic Grey, and coloured using the fabulous new Watercolour Pencils, and the back ground is the new Hexagon Embossing Folder.

Artful Stampers and Pootlers Blog Hop | Merriest Wishes

Cute Christmas Card using Merriest Wishes from Stampin' Up! UK

15193646_10153968882571603_316743053547173555_nI LOVE taking part in events; blog hops, challenges, Pinterest Boards, Facebook Groups, anywhere I get to share my love of stamping with other people, and when my team leader Sam mentioned this blog hop with the fabulous Artful Stampers I just couldn’t pass this up!

Merriest Wishes Bauble tag Christmas shaker Card using merriest wishes from Stampin' Up! UK

I am such a sucker for non-traditional Christmas colours; I’m just not a massive fan of Red and Green (although I’m sure if you visit my blog regularly you might not think so!) and I much prefer a cooler Christmas; blues, purples and Silver. This card uses the non-traditional colours of Island Indigo and Sahara Sand (which I’m sure don’t scream Christmas at you!) along with a touch of gold, to create a cool Christmas look. I have been playing around with the Merriest Wishes bundle for a few weeks, and am loving making quick and easy tags with the dies, but using them on an acutal card has been a little tricky.

Cute Christmas Card using Merriest Wishes from Stampin' Up! UK

I couldn’t pass the opportunity to make a shaker card using these fabulous dies, how gorgeous is that intricate bauble?! and it was really easy to put together;

  1. Die cut 4 tags; two solid ones in Whisper White, one intricate one in Island Indigo, and a further solid one out of Window Sheet
  2. Add glue to the back of the Island Indigo tag, and add one of the solid Whisper White ones to the back, once this is dry use the circle die in the set to cut the hole through the middle
  3. Adhere the Window Sheet tag using Tear & Tape, and then add a ring of Foam Adhesive Strip.
  4. Stamp the sentiment in the centre of the other Whisper White tag, and cover with a heap of Gold Sequins (I’ve used sequins taken from the Gold Sequin Trim!)
  5. Remove the backing from the Foam Adhesive and layer onto the Whisper White tag, ensuring all the sequins are trapped side, and there you have a fabulous shaker bauble!

I have LOVED taking part in this blog hop, and cannot wait to see what everyone else has made! Click the BLUE button to hop along with me.

Shaker Cards are so much fun! I’m loving adding small die cuts, as well as sequins, glitter, mica flakes, beads and other fun elements. I have to say though my absolute Top Tip with shaker cards is to run your Embossing Buddy around your shaker frame before you remove the adhesive backing – check the video to see why!

Watercolour with Jar of Love

Pinkies Team Design Challenge Colouring Watercolour with Jar of Love from Stampin' Up! UK

Hello folks! I’ve been challenged (again!) to share a card using colouring today. One of my team leaders, the gorgeous Michelle Last, sets us a challenge every other month, and you know what I’m like, I cannot pass on either an opportunity to colour or to take part in a challenge!

Pinkies Team Design Challenge Colouring Watercolour with Jar of Love from Stampin' Up! UK

So, we were challenge to create a card using a colouring, and I ALMOST selected an image I could colour… but then I had a think and decided that I would ‘colour’ a background.

The card base is Bermuda Bay, with a layer of Basic Grey, and finally a layer of Shimmery White Card stock. Now, I LOVE to watercolour on my cards, but watercolour paper is kinda pricey, well Shimmery White is a great alternative, it watercolours great, it’s smooth, and it’s a bit cheaper too! So, I grabbed my Aqua Painters and some Bermuda Bay ink and watercoloured a background to ground my Vellum jar.

Watercolour card using Jar of Love from Stampin' Up! UK

The flowers are also stamped on Shimmery White, in Rose Red, and once I had die cut them (loving the coordinating dies that are bundled with Jar of Love!) I spritzed them with a whole heap of water and left them to sit a while – this caused the ink to bleed and run, creating a variation in colour when I dabbed the water off with a piece of kitchen towel.

I haven’t added a sentiment yet, I know, I really should, but I’m saving that part until I have a suitable recipient!

Cute Birthday Shaker Card

Simple Shaker Birthday Card using Guy Greetings and Lots of Love from Stampin' Up! UK

I mentioned a few weeks ago that this time of the year is CRAZY with birthdays in my family, and I really needed a quick, fun card for my cousin…. and this is what he ended up with!

Simple Shaker Birthday Card using Guy Greetings and Lots of Love from Stampin' Up! UK

This shaker was super simple to put together I took me less than 15 minutes (including fussy cutting that frog!). The secret here is Foam Adhesive Strips. The card is a 4 x 4″ card with a layer cut to 3 3/4 x 3 3/4″, with a circle die cut from the centre (with a piece of Window sheet attached behind it). I then run my Embossing Buddy across the Window sheet to remove some of the static and stop those gorgeous sequins from sticking too much!

Cute Shaker Card using Lots of Love from Stampin' Up! UK

The Piece of Whisper White behind was embossed with the Lucky Stars Embossing Folder, for some extra texture. The Foam Adhesive Strips are then attached to the back of the circle piece, bending these around the circle is super easy (as I will demonstrate in Monday’s Make It Monday video!!!). I would suggest using the Foam to attach the edges of the card to the card base as well as around the shaker window – just because they are thicker than Dimensionals and you want your card front to be the same height all the way across right?!

Make It Monday | Ombre 2-Step Stamping

Make It Monday Ombre Stamping Technique video using Sweet Cupcake and Gorgeous Grunge from Stampin' Up! UK

Make It Monday with Stampin' Up!

Hello! Welcome to Make It Monday! I am loving making these Monday videos for you all, and I am hoping that you enjoy them too. I had so much fun making the card, I can’t stop looking at it! I actually filmed this one a few weeks ago, and had sort of forgotten about it, but when I found it again on my desk this morning … I’ve fallen in love with it! I might have to get my Wink of Stella out though, because I think it might need an extra bit of sparkle… what do you think?

Make It Monday Ombre Stamping Technique video using Sweet Cupcake and Gorgeous Grunge from Stampin' Up! UK

As usual all the details are in the video. But I just want to mention about this fabulous Stamp and die bundle! I love the cupcake, and it’s great for birthdays, but there are some great everyday sentiments in here too; and those dies … I cannot get enough of those! Oh, and you know that when you buy the stamps and dies together you save 10%! There are heaps of bundles in both the Annual and Autumn / Winter catalogues (I did count them, but I now cant remember how many!) But there is a whole section of the store where you can find them all! HERE!

The Ombre pads come in a few colours now; we have Rich Razzleberry, Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral, Emerald Envy and even a Basic Black one! They are great for solid images and stamp just and beautifully as our regular Stampin’ Pads, but they have the advantage of being able to get those different tones of the same colour without having to stamp off and make a mess! Saying that, I make a mess anyway….I’m sure my Stampin’ sisters will agree with me that I am really good at making a mess when I craft!

Make It Monday Ombre Stamping Technique video using Sweet Cupcake from Stampin' Up! UK

I’m loving that colour combination too; Rich Razzleberry and Tip Top Taupe, very pretty. But then again, Rich Razzleberry is purple, and I am such a sucker for anything remotely purple! I had a friend once who would buy me presents just because they were purple… I ended up with some very strange gifts!

Right, that’s all from me today folks, have a fabulous Monday, oh, before I go just a quick reminder that I have a Facebook event tomorrow night, LIVE on my Facebook page at 7PM! don’t forget to check it out

Christmas Pines | Tis the Season (well, almost….)

Tis the Season Christmas Card using Christmas Pines from Stampin' Up! UK

Ok, so ‘The Season’ hasn’t quite arrived yet, but the time to start on your Christmas cards has! I know that Christmas prep has well and truly started in our house; lists of presents, thoughts of making Christmas Cake (chose not to bother, just defrosted 1 tier of our wedding cake instead!), plans for Christmas day, questions about which days we are working and which days are ours! as well as the endless debate over the colour theme for this year! So, maybe Tis the Season still fits….

Tis the Season Christmas Card using Christmas Pines from Stampin' Up! UK

So because we are now in the lead up to ‘The Season’ I’ve been put on a No Spend! Does this happen to anyone else? Where you are not allowed to buy anything before Christmas? I mean, we are really trying to save for our house deposit at the moment too, but anyway I am on an enforce ‘No Spend!’ and so I have only actually bought 3 stamp sets from the Autumn / Winter catalogue (and choosing which ones I was going to have was REALLY hard!) Anyway, the Christmas Pines bundle was my MUST HAVE set in this catalogue, and I have already made a heap of cards with this set. I have another coming this week if you are subscribed to my Weekly Emails.

Christmas Card Using Christmas Pines from Stampin' Up! UKSo, this card uses the Christmas Pines bundle, along with the Presents and Pinecones Designer Series Paper (Yum! by the way!) and the Emerald Envy Ombre Stamp pad, oh and a trio of In Colour Enamel Shapes.

Spread the Love

Jar of Love card using Stampin' Up! Uk products

I shared a sneaky peak of this card on my Instagram account earlier in the week; I love sharing sneak peaks and other behind the scenes bits and bobs over on Instagram, you can find me over there as ‘StampinByHannah’.

Jar of Love card using Stampin' Up! Uk products

The flowers and sentiment are taken from Jar of Love. I love this stamp set, although I haven’t used the jars stamps all that much, I just love the flowers too much!

I have paired a couple of inks to create these flowers; Sweet Sugarplum and Rich Razzleberry for the larger flowers, and Calypso Coral and Watermelon Wonder for the smaller ones. The leaves are in Mint Macaron and Emerald Envy

Simple die cutting card using jar of love from Stampin up uk

I’m trying to use ribbon on my cards at the moment, for things other than bows too. The burlap ribbon is just so pretty like this, I love cutting one edge off and allowing it to fray a little before sticking it down with Fast Fuse Adhesive.

Pinkies Blog Hop | Shadow Box Card

Pinkies Team Blog Hop using Christmas Pines from Stampin' Up! UK

blog hop logo (1)Thank you for joining us on another Pinkies Blog Hop! We’re showcasing lots of gorgeous projects using products from the new Stampin’ Up!® Autumn/Winter Seasonal Catalogue. Simply use the buttons at the end of each post to keep hopping!

Wow, I’m loving this new Autumn / Winter catalogue, there are just so many great products and ideas. I thought I would make a special card for the Pinkies Blog Hop this time. I’m usually a pretty simple card maker, but this style of card has caught my eye recently (during my hours of scrolling through Pinterest!) and I just had to have a go at making my own!

Christmas Pines Shadow Box Card using Stampin' Up! UK Products

My favourite bundle in this years catalogue is Christmas Pines; I just love the collection of sentiments and the fabulous detailed die cuts. I will admit that you will be seeing a whole lot of this stamp set in the coming weeks, but that’s a story for another day!

Pinkies Team Blog Hop using Christmas Pines from Stampin' Up! UK

Measurements:

Card base: Basic Black card stock, 10.5 x 22 cm, scored on the long side at 10.5 and 11.5 cm. You will also need a piece of card stock that measures 6.5 x 6.5 cm

Using the scoring blade on you Stampin’ Trimmer, draw a square on the front of your card base; line up the card stock at 2 cm and score from 2 cm down to 8.5 cm – do this on all 4 sides of the card front.

Using a ruler, draw  diagonal lines from corner to corner of the square you have just created. The use these lines as a guide to score another square 1 cm smaller than the previous. You should now have one square inside the other. Then, using a ruler and a  craft knife, cut along the diagonal lines. Fold on the score lines, creating your shadow area in the middle of your card.

For this card, I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment on the 6.5 cm x 6.5 cm card stock using the new Emerald Envy Glitter Stampin’ Emboss powder before adhering it to the centre of the card.

Christmas Card Shadow Box using Christmas Pines from Stampin' Up!

The problem with this style of card is that it doesn’t fit or fold flat into a standard envelope. So I have also created a box for it to go in.

Measurements:

Box Base; 14 x 14 cm, scored on all four sides at 1.5 cm

Box Lid; 13.2 x 13.2 cm, scored on all four sides at 1 cm.

Both the card and the box are finished with the Presents and Pinecones Designer Series Paper and die cuts from the Christmas Pines bundle.

Thanks so much for stopping by, check out Anna’s blog and her fabulous projects by using the Next button.
