All Around the World Stampin’ Challenge – AW 28 entry

I’m really trying to push myself at the moment, no only in my creativity, but also my business, my fitness (and so weight loss) and my job! I have a LOT going on! and I LOVE it!

But, sometimes a get stuck in a rut with cardmaking. This is when I turn to Pinterest, or YouTube, or a Challenge for inspiration.

This week, I took another look at the All Around the World Stampin’ Challenge Blog, a group of Stampin’ Up! demos from around the world, who complete 2 challenges a month, and have some amazing ideas. I am going to try and complete some of these challenges (not promising I’m going to take part every fortnight, but I will try!)

Stampin' Up! UK AW28 Festival of Trees Baked Brown Sugar Cherry Cobbler Mossy Meadow

The challenge this time was to use Baked Brown Sugar, Cherry Cobbler, and Mossy Meadow. This is why these challenges push me so much; I don’t own all the Stampin’ Up! Ink pads, I don’t have cardstock in every colour, and I definitely don’t have all the stamps! But, I do own the Many Marvellous Markers (and luckily for this challenge, the In-Colour 2013-2015 Stampin’ Write Markers).

So, I grabbed my Mossy Meadow and Cherry Cobbler cardstock, along with a piece of Whisper White, my favourite stamp set from the seasonal catalogue, and my pens, and got to creating.

I used Mossy Meadow as my cardbase, with a layer of Cherry Cobbler (complete with pierced boarder!) and a layer of Whisper White. I stamped the Tree from Festival of Trees in Mossy Meadow (stamped off first) and added the tinsel in Versamark and Gold embossing powder. The tree pot I stamped in Cherry Cobbler (using my pens) and the star is Baked Brown Sugar and punched out using one of the Itty Bitty Accents punches.

I added the scribble backdrop of Baked Brown Sugar before popping the tree up with some dimensionals. The sentiment is stamped in Mossy Meadow, and the Basic Jewel Rhinestones coloured with Old Olive Blendabilities (have I told you how much I love those?! check out my latest Club for more!)

And that is my Challenge entry!

Fancy Fold Friday – Twist Turn Card

Its that time again! Fancy Fold Friday Time – and now we’re getting complex!

This week its the super cute Twist Turn Card!

I love this card, it make such a great birthday card, and is the perfect size to hold a gift card. Actually, while we’re on that – I love giving gift cards as gifts – who doesn’t love the gift of shopping?! lol, ok, but sometimes gift cards are really handy gifts (thinking here of any gamers in your life, I don’t know about you but I think £40 is an expensive gift, but I don’t mind contributing!) So, we give James’ younger brother gift cards, but trying to find a way to package them in a way that’s not really boring is a bit of a challenge. When I gave him a Twist Turn card for his birthday this year, I got a ‘ooooh, cool!’ a great compliment from a 13 year old I do believe! So, I haven’t included a way of attaching your gift card into the card, but that’s really because I use the Stampin’ Up! 2-way glue pen – if you use this adhesive when its wet (and blue) its permanent, but leave it to dry (and turn clear) it becomes re-positionable – and great for holding a gift card!

Stampin' Up! UK Twist Turn Card Gift card holder

Ok, so, to the card! The card base (Hello Honey, if you were wondering!), is cut to 8 1/4″ by 5 1/4″, score it on the long side at 2 5/8″ and 3 1/2″, and on the short side at 2 5/8″. Then, you need to make two diagonal score lines. Orientate the cardstock with the short side at the top, with the two score lines going horizontally near the bottom, draw a score line from the bottom score line at the edge of the cardstock, to the middle of the next score line, repeat on both sides – giving you an arrow pointing away from you. Fold on all the score lines. Stampin' Up! UK Twist Turn Card Gift card holder

The folds should be burnished well, of the card wont stand up well. The DSP used here is from the Moonlight DSP stack (LOVE!), and the stamps are from Everything Eleanor, and Something to Say, punched out uisng the 1″ circle punch, scallop circle punch, and Modern Label punch.

Let me know if you want a video tutorial for this (or anything other card)

See you again next week

White Reindeer …..

I just love the White Christmas stamp set, and although the trees are lovely, my favourite part of the stamp set is the ‘little detail’ stamps; the snow, the car, the snowman, and this great reindeer!

Stampin' Up! UK White Christmas dear

This card uses a Smokey Slate card base, with a Whisper White stamped panel.

I stamped the trees, banner, and sentiment in Smokey Slate, as well as a reindeer. I then created a mask and covered the hills, in order to protect the snow scene while I used a Finger Dauber to ink the sky using Soft Sky ink. I then stamped the reindeer again on a piece of scrap Whisper White cardstock, and fussy cut it (but not the antlers! I’m not that crazy!), before layering the reindeer over the original stamped reindeer with a dimensional!

Isn’t it cute!

Fancy Fold Friday – Halloween Card in a Box!

Happy Halloween!

and Happy Fancy Fold Friday!

This week I thought I would knock things up a gear and give you a card in a box!

I love these cards! When I’ve made them for people, everyone is always stunned by them!

Stampin' Up! UK Card in a Box Halloween

Isnt it fab!

Ok, So the measurements for this fab project:

Cardstock = 9 x 5 inches (23 x 13 cm) and two pieces measuring 3 x 2″ (8 x 5cm)

DSP = 4 3/4 x 1 7/8″ (12 x 4 1/2cm), 4 pieces that measure 2 x 2 1/8″ (5 x 5.2cm) and 3 pieces that measure 2 x 2 5/8″ (5 x 6.5cm)

Score the Cardstock on the short edge at 2 3/4″ (7cm) and on the long side at 2 1/8″, 4 1/4″, 6 3/8″ and 8 1/2″ (thats every 5.2cm!)

I’ve used Tangelo Twist (I LOVE that orange!) and Flashback DSP for this box, and have fussy cut the images from the Tee-Hee-Hee stamp set for the embellishments! (how cute are those bats!) All the stamping is done using Staz-on Ink

Check the video for full instructions!

DISCLAIMER – I work in Inches, all metric measurements are approximate!

The sentiment used on this card is from Good Greetings – which is still available for FREE with an qualifying order placed before the end of October!

Happy Halloween!

Well, almost!

I have a card for you today! and something slightly different – a 6 x 6″ square card!

Stampin' Up! UK Halloween Card thick bakers twine pom pom

Ok, So, this card is made from half a sheet of 12×12 Whisper White cardstock, folded to make a 6 x 6 card base.

The DSP (Motley Monsters!) is cut to 5 3/4 x 5 3/4″, with that lovely Burmuda Bay star print piece cut to 5 3/4 x 2″. I have then stamped the Bats from Tee-Hee-Hee and the sentiment from Good Greetings in Staz-on Ink – to get that true Black!

Then we get to the “pom pom”. Now, I followed a YouTube tutorial to make a Bakers Twine pom pom for this – but really, its nothing like a pom pom! I dont know if I just didnt have enough twine, or if I’ve make some sort of mistake along the way, but this is what I have! I actually quite like it! It means though, that this is definitely a ‘hand deliver’ sort of card!

To create the ‘Pom Pom’:

I took a length of Thick Bakers Twine (this one is White and Tangerine Tango!) and wrapped it around 3 of my fingers. Tied the middle together with white bakers twine, and snipped all the ends. I’ve attached it to the card with some more Thick Bakers Twine, and covered the tied middle with a fussy cut Bat!

Hope you like the card for today – check out the blog of Friday for a super cool Fancy Fold Friday Halloween Card!

Halloween Cards and Box Project

So, its nearly Halloween, as I have previously mentioned, its not really something I celebrate – but these papers and stamps were just so adorable I had to make a project with them!

The Stampin’ Up! Autumn Winter Catalogue for this year has a few Halloween themed stamp sets, including ones with matching framelits as well as really cute monsters, but I’m sucker for a sweet witch (I think its got something to do with my favourite book as a child – the worst witch!) so these cards feature Tee-Hee-Hee. The Motley Monsters DSP features Basic Black, Burmuda Bay, Crushed Curry, Sahara Sand, Tangerine Tango, and Whisper White – for a super bright and fun colour pallet that I am so going to re-visit time and again and again.

Stampin Up UK Motley Monsters Halloween

I made 4 cards, all in 4×4 inch size, using Tangerine Tango as the card base, and a 3.75 x 3.75″ piece of Motley Monsters DSP as the card front.

Stampin Up UK Motley Monsters Halloween

Each of the cards is subtly different, using a different piece of the paper, a different stamp, or embellishment.

Stampin Up UK Motley Monsters Halloween

I love wooden elements! These leaves are so super cute! I used two of the Autumn Wooden Elements here, colouring the outline element with my Tangerine Tango Stampin’ Write Marker

Stampin Up UK Motley Monsters Halloween All the cards use the same sentiment from the Tee-Hee-Hee stamp set, and all the stamped images are fussy cut (such a shame there arent any framelits for this stamp set 🙁 )

I also used the same cardstock and DSP to create a box to gift these cards and their envelope together

I loved making this project, you never know, maybe I’ll do some more Halloween crafting next year!

Fancy Fold Friday – Centre Step Card

Hello! Welcome to another Fancy Fold Friday!

This card was so complicated! I very very nearly gave up with it all together, and I’ve got to say that the DSP dimensions were pure luck! However, i decided I would share the basic structure of the card with you.

Stampin' Up! UK Centre Step Card

This card uses Pool Party Cardstock cut to 8 1/4″ by 5 3/4″. You’re going to need to grab that Stampin’ Trimmer for this one! Cut two lines in the card stock, the first at 1 3/4″ from 1 3/4 to 4 3/4″ and then at 4 1/4″ from 1 3/4 to 4 3/4″. This should give you two slits in your piece of card. Then score along the long edge at 2″, at the start of the two slits (between the two slits ONLY!), at 4 1/8″ either side of the cuts, and between the two slits at 5 3/4″ and at the end of the slits.

Stampin' Up! UK Centre Step Card

This card also features stamps from Blooming with Kindness and Petite Petals (along with the Petite Petal punch) and the Sentiment is punch using the Decorative Label Punch

Let me know in the comments below if you want a video tutorial on some of the fancy folds featured as part of Fancy Fold Friday!

See you again next week

So thankful for you!

Hello!

I thought I would take a step away from Christmas just for a moment! To say thanks!

Last week I featured the Festival of Trees Stamp Set (still not sick of that set yet! I just LOVE it!), and had such a great response from all of you (both here and on facebook!) and just wanted to say thanks to all of you!

Stampin' Up! UK Calypso Coral Good GreetingsI love bright colours, and rich colours, really I just love colour! but coral isn’t really my colour. So, when I looked through which ink pads I didn’t own a few weeks ago, it wasn’t a surprise to me that Calypso Coral hadn’t worked its way into my basket. But all of the Stampin’ Up! colours are just so beautiful I decided to take a chance on the coral!

How cute is this colour! It’s definitely on the orange spectrum, but its so soft and pretty! and please tell me, what is prettier than butterflies and flowers! So, I grabbed the Papillon Potpourri stamp set, and I Like You (hostess set), along with our Product of the Month – Good Greetings! and stamped this card!

There are actually two butterflies here, I punched one butterfly out of Calypso Coral DSP from the Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack, and then added the stamped and punched butterfly over the top with a single Glue Dot to give some great dimension!

I am so Thankful for you! Thanks so much for all your comments and orders. Check out my Facebook page HERE! and shop HERE!

Stampin' Up! UK I like you Stampin Write Markers

This card uses a Crushed Curry Card base, and a piece of Colour Me Autumn DSP (the colours in this pack of DSP are gorgeous – Blackberry Bliss, Crushed Curry, Mossy Meadow, Cajun Craze, Old Olive! <3). I stamped the DSP with Crushed Curry ink using the Hello Darling Stamp set (one of the ones I chose as my freebies!).

I coloured the Flower stamp with my Stampin’ Write Markers in Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze, and Old Olive, before stamping onto the DSP

Stampin' Up! UK I like you Stampin Write Markers

The sentiment for this card comes from the FREE good greetings stamp set, stamped in Mossy Meadow onto the same DSP, and punched out using the Modern Label Punch, layered with two other punched pieces

I didn’t think Crushed Curry was really going to be my colour! Boy, was I Wrong!

Fancy Fold Friday – Steps of a Festival!

So, this is the last post of our week of Festival of Trees 🙁

I really do love this stamp set (can you tell!) and I’m sure I have plenty of crafting left with it before it leaves us on January 5th 2015

As its Fancy Fold Friday, I couldnt end the week without doing a Fancy Fold Festival of Trees card – this week, Stepper Cards!

FFF - stepper 1

This card is a little complex to cut and score. The cardbase (here in Mossy Meadow) is cut to 8 1/4 by 5 3/4, and is scored on the short side at 2″, and on the long side at 4 1/8″, and 2 1/8, 5 1/4. 6 1/4/ ad 7 1/8 to the 2″ score line.

Side Stepper Card Score Dimentions

Using you Stampin’ Trimmer, cut the 2″ score line between the 2 1/8″ score line and 7 1/8″. The next trick is folding. Fold the 7 1/8″ score line away from you, folding the other lines like a concertina, ensuring that the 4 1/8″ score line on the unscored side is also folded away from you.

This should give you a side stepper card!

As it is Festival of Trees week, I have decorated my Side Stepper as a forest, using two of the tree stamps, the star and both of the sentiments.

FFF - stepper 2

Have I mentioned how much I love how Stampin’ Up! products coordinate – the festival of trees star stamp which works perfectly with the star punch from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack! LOVE IT!

In addition to the Mossy Meadow cardstock, this card features Very Vanilla cardstock, and Mossy Meadow, Pear Pizzazz and Real Red inks!

Can wait for next week!
