Dad’s Birthday Card using Best Route from Stampin’ Up!

Fun Boys Birthday Card using Best Route Designer Series paper from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah Dad’s Birthday Card using Best Route from Stampin’ Up!

Oh yes, today is my Dad’s birthday…. and because I gave him his card last night, I thought I would be really timely and share his card with you today. Men’s cards are always a little tricky, but I think we have the perfect Designer Series Paper Assistance this year; Best Route!

Simple Guys Birthday Card using Best Route from Stampin' Up!

I recently used the same paper on a card for my Brother-in-Law, isn’t it fun that we can create multiple difficult cards with the same products and they look totally different?! I love the colour combination in this paper; Blueberry Bushel, Mango Melody and Gray Granite…. and I’ve used the same colours in the card stock and stamping.

The sentiment is taken from Picture Perfect Birthday; I LOVE this set, it’s perfect for simple birthday cards, and therefore great for guys too!

Inside a guys card using Best Route from Stampin' Up!

As usual with family cards I HAD to pimp the inside with some more layers of Designer Series Paper and a hint of stamping too

Best Route Birthday Card

Create a fun layered mans birthday card using Best Route from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah Best Route Birthday Card

Today is my youngest Brother-in-Law’s birthday, he’s 17, and so cards aren’t really his thing… however, they are mine, and so he gets one anyway!

Create a fun layered mans birthday card using Best Route from Stampin' Up!

Cards for guys are always a little tricky, however, Stampin’ Up! have made it a whole lot easier with this Designer Series Paper. Best Route is a fun mix of bold colours and generic patterns, all with the hint of a travel theme…. perfect for your Road Trip Scrapbook Album, or some fun cards!

I thought I would have some fun with colour on this one… the entire front is Gray Granite Designer Series Paper while the card base itself is Mango Melody. Usually I made tent fold cards, but they don’t stand very well on my Mother-in-laws slippy furniture, so I went for a more traditional book fold style for this card.

Happy Birthday boys card using Best Route Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up!

The secret to a good guy card is simple details… Here I’ve created layers using different pieces of the Best Route Designer Series Paper, added a length of ribbon, the sentiment on a Stitched Circle die cut, a trio of sequins and a cute mini paperclip from the Share What You Love Embellishment kit to finish.

The stamping is taken from the Picture Perfect Birthday Stamp Set; a fun mix of birthday images and sentiments that work really well for guys birthdays.

Inside boys birthday card using Best Route from Stampin' Up!

I couldn’t not add something to the inside… so I mirrored the Designer Series Paper layers and added a second birthday sentiment in Blueberry Bushel.

Lift Me Up Birthday Card using Embossing Paste

How to use embossing paste to create a fun Hot Air Balloon birthday card using Stampin' Up! products

StampinByHannah Lift Me Up Birthday Card using Embossing Paste

I LOVE a bit of embossing paste as much as the next person, but I do have to admit that my pot has been a little (by this I mean a LOT) neglected over recent months…. to the point where when I opened it I thought it has completely dried out… and after I made this card I decided that it had got to the end of it’s life and that it needed to go! However… I will be re-purchasing because the effects you can create with it are fabulous!

Hot Air Balloon Birthday card using Lift Me Up from Stampin' Up!

So, using my rather dry Stampin’ Up! Embossing Paste, and the cloud mask from the Pattern Party Decorative Masks, did allow me to create some extra texture as the dry paste holds a shape better than when it’s really wet. It also dried a LOT quicker… not that I would recommend using dry embossing paste of course! It’s MUCH easier to spread when it’s fresh… it’s also much easier to clean off your mask and palette knife!

Fun Birthday Card using Embossing Paste and Lift me up from Stampin' Up!

Because the background is so busy, I’ve kept the rest of the card simple, with a die cut balloon and sentiment from Lift Me Up! die cut using the coordinating Up and Away Thinlits.

InspireInk Blog Hop | Creating a fabulous BIG Birthday Card…

Big Birthday Card using Happy Birthday Thinlit from Stampin' Up! for the InspireINK blog Hop

StampinByHannah InspireInk Blog Hop Creating a fabulous BIG Birthday Card…

InspirInk Blog Hop Header Stampin' Up! team blog hop

Ok, so this month’s InspireINK blog hop theme was Milestone Birthdays… and while I love a good milestone, I don’t have ANY in my family or friends this year. I think that the next person to celebrate a birthday in our family will be 34 (or maybe 35…. I can’t remember!). Anyway…. I sort of changed Milestone for BIG…. and so this card was created…

Monotone Mint Birthday Card using the Sequin Embossing Folder from Stampin' Up!

I haven’t used Happy Birthday Thinlit die in a while… but I am so glad it’s carried forward into the new Annual Catalogue, it just makes some really simple, but really effective birthday cards. Here I’ve die cut it 4 times; 3 time from Very Vanilla card stock, and once from a piece of Mint Macaron card stock that I had added some ink blending to. I have to add that I did pop some Multi-purpose Adhesive Sheet onto the back of the card stock before I die cut it… just makes stacking these die cuts SO much easier!

Mint Macaron Sequin Birthday Card using Stampin' Up! products

I put a heap of sequins into one of my recent Stampin’ Up! orders…. I LOVE sequins on cards, and self-adhesive ones are just fantastic! Then I remembered that I had grabbed the Scattered Sequins Embossing Folder to an order a while ago, and hadn’t used it (I know, it’s shocking isn’t it!) and so I ripped the plastic off it, and ran it through my Big Shot…. for a completely Sequined card!

I can’t wait to see what the other girls in the InspireINK team have created for this challenge…. why not hop along with me and find out!

Bright and Fun Birthday Card using Lemon Zest from Stampin' Up! with StampinByHannah

It has been FAR too long since I pulled this stamp set off my Stamp Shelf! Lemon Zest is so fun… and it has a coordinating punch… but it’s one I have really struggled to use! So, this is a bit of a two part challenge for me this week, one, to make a card that says ‘Sunshine’ and two, to make something with this fabulous Stamp Set!

The card itself is Old Olive, with layers of Rich Razzleberry and Whisper White, a splatter of Old Olive ink… and then I’ve gone to town with circle dies!

How to make a quick and easy Birthday Card using Lemon Zest from Stampin' Up! with #stampinbyhannah

It’s always really easy to forget what sentiments a theme’d stamp set like this contains… but how lovely is that Happy Birthday?

I cannot wait to see you ‘Sunshine’ cards over at Inspire.Create.Challenge, do check out the other Design Team inspiration too!

Make It Monday | Quick and easy Perennial Birthday Day Card

Simple Man's birthday card using Perennial Birthday from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah Make It Monday Quick and easy Perennial Birthday Day Card

Make It Monday

This weekend I spent most of my time in my craft room, I have finally managed to get myself a little ahead with videos, filmed 7 on Saturday and then my fortnightly Facebook Live yesterday. However, today’s video is quite possibly the shortest tutorial I have ever filmed!

Make It Monday Simple Stamped Birthday Card with Perennial Birthday from Stampin' Up!

When making cards for men, I tend to keep things simple. Often I’ll keep to single layer, and while this card has a couple matts, I think you could count this in that category.

The Happy Birthday uses one of my ‘go-to’ simple stamping techniques; Repeat Stamping. The stamp was actually only inked 3 times to get the effect… check the video to see how it’s done!

This card uses my standard card sizes. You can find them over on my Standard Card Measurements Page.

Simple Man's birthday card using Perennial Birthday from Stampin' Up!

This card was finished with a splatter of Basic Black ink, splattered using a Black Stampin’ Write Marker.

Even though I’m on a bloggy break this week I couldn’t miss digging through my Stampin’ Buddies blog archive… and I have some fabulous projects to share with you this week!

Helen Slimm

I am such a sucker for a scrapbooking project, and when I spotted this gorgeous photo of Helen’s Nan I couldn’t not share it with you! This week Helen has made this fabulous Memories and More album for her Nan… what a fabulous gift!

Sally Shaw

I’m actually sharing one of Sally’s videos this week… can you tell Helen sent me off looking for Memories and More projects?!

I just LOVE this fabulous scrapbooking system! The card packs are just such great value with heaps of cards, along with sticks and more! PLUS the line is expanding in the upcoming Annual catalogue to make these packs truly Memories and MORE!

Angelina Clark

So, I did search Angelina’s blog for some Memories and More…. but sadly I couldn’t come up with anything current. However, I did find this awesome project that uses the Birthday Memories suite! This project is just fantastic… don’t forget to click the image to see all the details… and the video tutorial too!

I’ve been using the Memories and More packs to complete my own scrapbooking project in 2018! Normally the last Thursday in the month would be my monthly One Little Word update…. but I’m going to delay April’s for a week or so. But it will be back soon!
