A Nice Cuppa Thank You

A few weeks ago my lovely husband, James, asked me to make 2 thank you cards to say Thanks to the team at one of his placements. James is a student nurse (apparently my horror stories haven’t put him off!) and he has now finished his first year of study, which means saying goodbye to the ward where he has been based for the past 9 months. Now, as a nurse I know that there are few things that nurses like more than a ‘hot’ cup of tea or coffee, and so the ‘A Nice Cuppa’ stamp set and coordinating dies seemed perfect

I actually made two cards, one for the ward team, and one for James’ mentor. I’m loving using up my Designer Series Papers at the moment (as I’m sure regular readers are well aware) and this card was a great excuse to get out the Birthday Blooms Designer Series Paper and use it for a non-birthday themed card. I often use Designer Series Paper as colour inspiration, and so looked through the colour list for a coordinating card base colour and came up with Soft Suede.

The Cup and tea bag were die cut from Whisper White card stock and, although you can’t see it in this photos, sponged in Crumb Cake ink. I love adding a bit of sponging to the edge of items like this mug, just to give a little dimension, and take it from a flat piece to something special. I have also curved pieces like this before, but left it flat this time around.

The second card was for James’ mentor, and so I wanted to make something that reflected James – bright and colourful! This of course meant changing Designer Series Paper and so here I have used the Cherry on Top DSP stack. This cute stack of 6 x 6 papers features some really bold and bright colours that you may not have first thought of when thinking about a cup of tea!

This card uses a piece of Shimmery White card stock, and I have added a wash of Pool Party in the background before adding 1cm strips of Designer Series Paper and the tea cup. The sentiment on this one is taken from the Sale-a-bration set Perfect Pairings – I will be so sad at the end of the month when this set retires as I have used it so much!

I know that both these cards were well received on the ward, We love sending Thank You’s at the end of a placement or work place. Believe it or not we don’t get much thanks, and so its always lovely to get a hand-made thank you.
