StampinByHannah How to make a quick card with Eclectic Expressions from Stampin’ Up!

Stamping Techniques Series

I have a quick and fun video tutorial for you today featuring the GORGEOUS Eclectic Expressions stamp set. I am completely in LOVE with this set… its watercolour effect and its designed for stamp layering… what’s not to love?! But also it’s completely FREE with a £45 order during Sale-a-bration!

Stamp Layering Video Tutorial with Eclectic Expressions from Stampin' Up!

This technique is super easy to do. It just takes a little time as each stamp needs to be stamped in a different colour each time… so having your Stampin’ Scrub or a micro-fibre cloth handy is very useful! These stamps layer together to create some really pretty effects, and I know that you could make this card several times over and each time they would look different

I started out making a super bright card, but half way through the video I thought it would also look pretty in neutrals… so I tried that out too… which is your favourite? let me know in the comments below!

Thoughtful Thursday | Love you Eclipse Card with Heart Happiness

Guys Valentines Day card using Heart Happiness from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah Thoughtful Thursday Love you Eclipse Card with Heart Happiness

Stampin' Up! UK Independent Demonstrator StampinByHannah Thoughtful Thursday

Ok, so this is one of those times that I am more than a little late… I’m blaming the day job, but really its because my organisation system has gone out of the window, my head has been in the shed, and I quite simply forgot! Today I’m sharing the card I made for Valentines!

I could have course let it go and missed the card off my blog, but it’s so damn pretty that I just HAD to share it with you.

How to make a masculine Love You card with Heart Happiness from Stampin' Up!

This card was totally inspired by the lovely Dena Rekow over at The Creativity Cave. The hearts are from the Heart Happiness stamp set, after each one was stamped I added a wash of water to create this pretty Faux Watercolour look. The hearts are stamped onto Shimmery White card stock, which is just perfect for watercolour techniques, PLUS it makes your projects sparkle!

Can you believe that this is also my very first Eclipse card (talk about late to the party!)… This is such a fun technique! It is a fun way of adding a subtle sentiment, by die cutting your word from your stamped piece, and then inserting it back but popped up onto dimensionals! (and what is even better…. that YOU die is FREE during Sale-a-bration! Awesome!)

Thoughtful Thursday Love You card with Heart Happiness from Stampin' Up!

The rest of the sentiment is stamped with the Labeler Alphabet stamp set, and a hint of splatter added to find the card.

Embossed Resist Berry Burst Birthday

Berry Burst Embossed Resist Birthday Card using Beautiful Day from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah Embossed Resist Berry Burst Birthday

You guys know how much I love playing with inks… and today’s card features one of my favourite stamping techniques; Embossed Resist!

Berry Burst Embossed Resist Birthday Card using Beautiful Day from Stampin' Up!

The Embossed Resist technique is simple to achieve but so much fun, and there are so many different looks you can get that the possibilities are almost endless! So, here the flowers from Beautiful Day were stamped down the left hand side of the piece of Whisper White card stock in Versamark ink, and then heat embossed with Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Then Berry Burst ink is added over the top with a sponge… where the heat embossing is resists the ink and therefore remains white while the rest of the card stock becomes coloured.

Berry Burst Embossed Resist Birthday Card using Beautiful Day from Stampin' Up!

The rest of the card came together pretty quickly, with the stamped sentiment from the Beautiful Day Stamp Set, Berry Burst Woven Ribbon, and a trio of Petal Passion Embellishments.

Techniques | Double Embossing with the Basket Weave Embossing Folder

How to Video Tutorial Double Embossing with Basket Weave from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah Techniques Double Embossing with the Basket Weave Embossing Folder

Stamping Techniques Series

I gave you a bit of a sneak peak of this card on Wednesday… but I have made another version for todays (special) video!

Cardmaking techniques video tutorial using Blossoms Basket from Stampin' Up! Sale-a-bration

This card features the Double Embossing technique. I am LOVING this at the moment, I think it really adds a wow to an embossing folder and it works so well with the Basket Weave Embossing Folder that is part of the Blossoming Basket Bundle available for FREE during Sale-a-bration!

Today’s video is special for a few reasons; 1. spot the sneaky first appearance of my new Stamparatus! (there WILL be more of that very soon… I am LOVING it!) 2. I have been playing around with my video editing, and I would love to hear what you think of the new format! Let me know in the comments here or on the video itself on YouTube!

How to double emboss with the Basket Weave Textured Impressions Embossing Folder from Stampin' Up!

I would suggest a couple of top tips for this one….

  1. Make sure you’re embossing folder is clean before each use… I think that is why there is a LOT more embossing powder on the Night of Navy card than the Early Espresso one, I didn’t remove the first layer of Versamark ink in between cards!
  2. Rub your card stock with your Embossing Buddy before you run it through the embossing folder… stop that powder sticking in places you don’t want it!
  3. Take you time, Versamark is very slow drying, you have plenty of time, don’t rush!

Techniques | Shadow Stamping with Amazing You from Stampin’ Up!

Techniques Card making tutorial using Amazing You Sale-a-bration and All Things Thanks from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah Techniques Shadow Stamping with Amazing You from Stampin’ Up!

Stamping Techniques Series

I have a quick technique for you this week… you guys know how much I love a good stamp-y technique, and this one is super simple but really fun!

All Things Thanks card using Amazing You from Stampin' Up! Sale-a-bration

The sentiment is taken from All Things Thanks. I have double stamped it here with Whisper White ink first and then over stamped in Basic Grey to create this fun Shadow Stamping effect.

The trick here really is a stamp positioning tool. I used the Stamp-a-ma-jig for this one, but I cannot wait for the Stamparatus to arrive in my craft room so I can make more cards like this one! the Stamparatus is the new Stamp Positioning tool from Stampin’ Up! which will launch properly in the new Annual catalogue in June… but I did manage to pre-order one that should be coming very soon!

How to make a simple thank you card using All things thanks from Stampin' Up!

I think my favourite bit of this card is the coloured doily… I have been doing this quite a bit recently (and have already shared a card with this this week!) using Stampin’ Blends to colour up those cute doilies. LOVE!

The background of this card uses the Amazing You stamp set which is available for FREE during Sale-a-bration.

Techniques | How to create a dimensional sentiment with Celebrate You from Stampin’ Up!

Card Making Techniques Video Tutorial how to layer die cuts using Celebrate You from Stampin' Up! Sale-a-bration

StampinByHannah Techniques How to create a dimensional sentiment with Celebrate You from Stampin’ Up!

Stamping Techniques Series

I have a quick and fun Techniques video for you today. I am just LOVING the Celebrate You thinlits that are currently available for FREE during Sale-a-bration. Actually, before I forget Stampin’ Up! added some extra Sale-a-bration freebies this morning… you can check them out in my Online Store!

So, today’s technique… I have been  having heaps of fun stacking the die cuts from this thinlit set, and I thought I would share some of my top tips that might help you create some fabulously dimensional die cut sentiments!

Card Making Techniques Video Tutorial how to layer die cuts using Celebrate You from Stampin' Up! Sale-a-bration

This card is so cute! It’s a fun 4 x 4″ size, with a 3-3/4 x 3-3/4″ piece of Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper and a large die cut Stitched Circle in Vellum. Both the die cut and the Glitter Enamel Dot are strategically placed to cover the Mini Dimensionals I used to adhere the Vellum to the card. I LOVE adding Vellum with dimensionals, just because the Vellum is lifted slightly off the front of the card and it creates a lovely shadow effect.

Top Tips;

  • Use Multi-Purpose Adhesive Sheet on the back of your card stock before you start to die cut your sentiment
  • Die cut 3-5 pieces to give you a nice thick sentiment
  • Use your Silicone Mat to help you ensure that die cuts are lined up
  • It is easier to line up shorter words… so try a word like YOU before you head for something longer and swirly!

Card Making Techniques Video Tutorial how to layer die cuts using Celebrate You from Stampin' Up! Sale-a-bration

The ‘Thank’ is taken from one of the stamps in the All Things Thanks stamp set, and I selectively inked it with a Stampin’ Write Marker in Night of Navy to ensure that I just had the portion of the stamp I needed.

Techniques | How to create a hard lines watercolour background

How to created hard lines watercolour background with Stampin' Up! inks

StampinByHannah Techniques How to create a hard lines watercolour background

Some weeks working out which technique to share can be a struggle… but not this week! I made the card in this post last week, after I spotted a card on one of the Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator Facebook groups, and just had so much fun creating the background that I knew I HAD to share it!

Pretty Wedding Card using Oh So Eclectic from Stampin' Up!

This card would be so lovely as a Wedding congratulations, or engagement card. I have used a sentiment from the Oh So Eclectic stamp set, mainly because it coordinates with the dies… but looking at it now a Congratulations sentiment would have worked better!

This is one of those cards with lots of layers… so I will give you a quick run down:

  • Watercoloured technique on Shimmery White card stock (check the video for all the details on this one!)
  • Die cut area using the Eclectic Layers dies. The whole watercoloured panel is popped up on Dimensionals, and I have added some of the die cut pieces back in (in an almost inlay die cut style) with some Gold Glimmer Paper pieces added in too
  • Two leaves punched from Champagne Foil with the Leaf Punch
  • A vellum Everyday Label (punched)
  • Flower die cut from the Eclectic Layers dies in Blushing Bride with a Clear Faceted Gem in the centre
  • Sentiment heat embossed in White, punched with the Classic Label Punch

The focus of this blog post isn’t that card though… it’s about the techniques right!

The background is created with a fun, and quick, watercolour technique that I am calling Hard Lines Watercolour (I’m sure someone else has a better name for it!). I LOVE doing this for a quick and easy background. It’s super pretty when you use a soft colour like Blushing Bride, but it can be really striking in a bolder colour too!

Fun and pretty Valentines card using Oh So Eclectic from Stampin' Up!

I think I have covered everything in the video… it’s really just about adding layers, and drying in between. Using a Heat Tool really helps as the ink drys before it has time to spread out, and therefore gives those lovely hard lines! I could totally play around with this for hours… different colours, different sized paint brushes, different amounts of water all create different effects but they are all so pretty.

The panel I created in this week’s Techniques Video has also been made into a card… and you can see that if you subscribe to my emails in my Stampin’ Inspiration Monday Video!

StampinByHannah Techniques How to colour your Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Paper

Stamping Techniques Series

I am completely in love with the Petal Palette Suite in the Stampin’ Up! Spring Summer catalogue. I mean, what is not to love about floral stamps, sentiments in a pretty font and Black and White Designer Series Paper?! Its SO pretty, and I just cannot put it away! I have been using it a lot recently, and I hate to tell you, I’m not sick of it yet and there is more coming next week too…

Make It Monday How to use a Sponge Brayer with Petal Passion Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up!

The star of the show here is definitely the Petal Passion Designer Series Paper. This pack is purely Black and White and features a collection of floral and leafy prints. This makes it the perfect candidate for colouring. I have previously used Watercolour Pencils and a Blender pen, and there are heaps of Blends examples floating around Pinterest, but here I have chosen to use a Sponge Brayer.

Using a Basic Black card base always causes the question; Where do you write? Do you decorate the inside of your cards?

Well, here I have added a piece of Whisper White card stock on the inside, with a spot of stamping using the coordinating Petal Palette Stamp set and a hint of colour added with a sponge.

Stamping Techniques Series

For our final Valentines card inspiration, I have a really quick and easy, technique for you… one you might well have done before, but may not have played with for a while! I certainly haven’t pulled this one out of my techniques stash for ages. Actually I think the last time I did Rock and Roll stamping was for THIS video!

Cardmaking Techniques Video Tutorial Rock and Roll Stamping with Heart Happiness from Stampin' Up!

I also particularly love the colour combination on this card…

What colours are you planning for your Valentines this year?

I have been trying to add Top Tips to these blog posts recently, but I think I probably covered everything in the video this week! It’s such a simple idea… I would suggest inking your stamp with the lighter ink colour first, and then adding the darker colour around the outside… although I do have a way of doing it the other way around (that isn’t going to get dark ink into your light coloured ink pad) that I might film soon!

So, I hope that you have enjoyed visiting my blog this week. Check back tomorrow for a fun blog hop with my team…

Techniques | Coordinated Die Cutting with Petal Palette from Stampin’ Up!

Techniques Video Tutorial How to make a fun Congratulations card using Petal Palette from Stampin' Up!

StampinByHannah Techniques Coordinated Die Cutting with Petal Palette from Stampin’ Up!Stamping Techniques Series

This weeks technique is something I have been wanting to do for a month or so, following a video shared by Jennifer McGuire. The technique is Coordinated Die Cutting, and is a fun way to look at your stamps and matchin dies

Coordinating Die Cut Windows using Petal Palette from Stampin' Up!

The cards I am sharing today are fairly simple, keeping the technique front and centre. Creating coordinating die cut windows really called to me when I first picked up this stamp and die set, but I know that you can do this with lots and lots of die sets.

The trick to this technique is a simple sheet of vellum, and ensuring that your two layers of card stock and your Vellum are the exact same size. However, once you have all card stock cut, the actual creation of the card is a quick process (as you can see, this video isn’t massively long for once!)

Using Coordinating Dies and Die Cutting in cardmaking using Petal Palette from Stampin' Up!

The ribbons used on this card are both from the same pack. The Sale-a-bration Shimmer Ribbon Pack contains 3 colours of shimmery ribbons in Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral and Basic Gray. Each ribbon is a different width as well as a different colour, but they are all shimmery and very pretty. This pack of ribbon is completely FREE with a £45 order during Sale-a-bration.
