Inspire.Create.Challenge #156 | Creating an Embossing Paste Background…

Hello! Welcome to StampinByHannah for this week’s Inspire.Create.Challenge. This time we have a really interesting colour combination of Balmy Blue, Lemon Lolly and Moody Mauve. I took a little while to ponder this one, but settled on using the ever so lovely Timeless Arrangements bundle, but needed something in the background.

I settled on using the Abundant Beauty Masks, but rather than just inking through the mask, I pulled out the Embossing Paste instead.

Top Tips;

  1. Use your Silicone mat as a holding place for your paste. I add ink to the mat and then put the paste on top and mix using a Palette knife to get coloured paste.
  2. Add more paste that you think you’ll need, you can always scrape it off or use more to add more texture
  3. Make sure you clean anything you’ve used your paste with quickly afterwards using soap and water… this stuff dries really solid!
  4. You don’t need to cover the whole piece of cardstock with paste, leaving white space can be really pretty

Ink.Stamp.Share | Cute Christmas Card using Gifts of Giving from Stampin’ Up!

Hello! Welcome to StampinByHannah! I haven’t joined in with Ink Stamp Share before, but I am always up for a blog hop. This time we are showcasing our recent makes, nothing specific so there will be HEAPS of inspiration if you follow the links at the end of this post.

I had SO much fun making this card. Using Gifts of Giving and colouring this cute Santa using Stampin’ Blends. Then the background which uses Embossing Paste and the new Abundant Beauty Decorative Masks, which I also inked onto a scrap of Vellum.

Guy Greetings Birthday Card using Embossing Paste

Guy Greetings Birthday Card using Embossing Paste from Stampin' Up!

As soon as I spotted the Embossing Paste in the new annual Catalogue I knew I HAD to try it! I have never used embossing paste before, but I love the look of it. However, once it arrived, I froze, I took the lid off, but I couldn’t use it!

So, when James reminded me that he needed a Birthday Card for his older brother at the end of last month, I decided to put on my big girl pants and give this stuff a go! Although, I did make him pick the stamps!

So, I stamped the sentiments first in Archival Basic Black ink onto Whisper White card stock, and then stamped the Guy onto a separate piece of card stock. He was the coloured in using Watercolour Pencils and a blender pen, and fussy cut.

The embossing paste was really easy to use… I have a glass top on my desk and I dumped a large pea sized amount of paste onto the desk and added a drop of Bermuda Bay reinker. The paste is really easy to move and mix with the Palette Knives that you can find with the paste in the catalogue. I used one of the new Pattern Party Decorative Masks to create this fun pattern, and added a sprinkling of Dazzling Diamonds Stampin’ Glitter before it was dry. The embossing paste does take a few minutes to dry, but its not long, but long enough that it gives you time to make sure you mask, desk and palette knife is clean! I would advise that you make sure that your equipment is cleaned after each use, embossing paste is hard once it is dry and REALLY difficult to get off!
