Thank you …… Kylie Bertucci!

Stampin' Up! UK Thank you card Crazy About You English Garden

Hello Everyone! I am so pleased to see you. This post is a little bit different from my usual postings, as I am taking part in Kylie Bertucci’s Blog Highlight! This is a totally cool concept whereby you can head over to Kylie’s blog HERE! and see heaps of really cool projects from Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrators all over the world and vote for your favourites. Awesome!

So, for those of you who have never been here before, Hi! I’m Hannah and I live in Stockton-on-Tees, in the North East of England. I was thinking about a good way of describing Stockton-on-Tees and struggled slightly, but some pretty cool things have be invented here including the Friction Match, it is the site of the first public railway, and where the second series of Benefit Street was filmed. I think that’s enough about where I live…..

Stampin' Up! UK Thank you card Crazy About You English GardenThis card is actually a CASE of myself! When I went to make a card for this totally cool blog hightlight thingy I really struggled to come up with anything (I’m really fighting with crafters block at the moment, I’m blaming working 44 hours a week as a nurse on a dementia unit, I’m just really tired!). So, I was in my craft room a few days ago, starting to panic about not having anything made yet, and I spotted THIS card from a blog hop a few months ago sat on the card display, and so I thought I would make it again!

I love getting inky, and so this technique is one of my favourites, there are actually four colours in ink blended on this this card; Pink Pirouette, Melon Mambo and Rose Red, and then I used Sahara Sand to tone the PINK down a little.

Stampin' Up! UK Crazy About You thank you card

The little pieces of Designer Series Paper are scraps from English Garden, layered along with a piece of the gorgeous white Metallic Glitter tape from Sale-a-bration.

I really hope you have enjoyed this project, don’t forget to pop over to Kylie’s blog to see everyone else’s awesome projects AND to vote!

See you again tomorrow for this weeks Simply Sketched Saturday Blog Hop (This week’s sketch is really cool!)

English Garden Birthday

Stampin' Up! UK Crazy About You birthday card

I’m sure many of you know that I make birthday cards for a nursing home, many care home residents don’t have anyone to send them a card except the home itself, and then its the cheapest card they can find. They smiles from the residents when they open a birthday card, a special, hand made birthday card – its wonderful.

So, the activities coordinator of this home approached me last month and asked for a batch of cards, so this is what I made ….

Stampin' Up! UK English Garden Birthday card

I have to say here, this is totally not my card design, and takes some serious inspiration from THIS CARD that I found on Pinterest.

Stampin' Up! UK Crazy About You birthday card

I’m loving this Designer Series Paper, English Garden from this years Annual catalogue, its just so damn pretty! and features some gorgeous colours, and I’m STILL trying to use up my stack of Designer Series Paper and these cards a a great way of using up loads of paper, as each card uses 1/6th of a piece of paper.

The Happy is taken from the Crazy About You stamp and die bundle, another favourite pick from this Annual catalogue!

Stampin Up! Uk Crazy About You English Garden

I made 6 of these cards, 2 in each colour and they were super simple and quick to put together, and the ladies absolutely LOVED them!

Are you interested in making some birthday cards for those older people living in our care homes (UK only) drop me a message and see how you can help me out with my latest project!

Sketch Challenge| Global Design Project 018

Stampin' Up! UK Just Saying Hello

Hello!

Sorry for my slightly late post for today, been trying to catch up on photographing my projects this morning, and time sort of ran away from me a little bit! I’ve actually been quite prolific this weekend, and have made a stack of cards – which makes me feel so much better as I was beginning to think that my crafting mojo had up and left! but a stressful weekend of work On Call has led me back to my crafty stress relief!

Anyway, I thought I would take a sketch challenge today, I’ve been following the Global Design Project for a little while, but actually jumping in and creating anything for one of the challenges has been somewhat of a challenge in itself! Well, this week I’m on holiday from my day job (thank goodness!) and so am taking time to craft and blog. So this morning I was having a little browse through Facebook and was reminded of this challenge by the lovely Michelle Last.

So here is my take on this weeks Global Design Project Sketch Challenge!

Global Design Project sketch challenge 018

I love a good sketch challenge! speaking of which the Simple Sketched Saturday Challenge Blog Hop is back this week! Yay! I have been sitting on my project for this weekend for a while, I can’t wait to share! anyway, getting back to THIS sketch challenge…..

Stampin' Up! UK Global Design Project Sketch Challenge

I’m still trying super hard to cut into my packs of Designer Series Paper. I am determined not to have heaps of the stuff left at the end of the this Annual catalogue (unlike last year!) and so am trying to use papers more on cards. Now, I know I have sinned here; layering two patterns one on top of the other without card stock between, but somehow I think it works. I love this paper in particular; its the English Garden Designer Series Paper from the annual catalogue, it is gorgeous! I’m a sucker for colour and at the moment I am totally in love with all things Rose Red.

Stampin' Up! UK Just Saying Hello

The ‘Hello’ is taken from the Hello Stamp Set (in this years Sale-a-bration offering) along with that cute smiley face. Hello is stamped in Rose Red and fussy cut with my paper snips. I am not a world expert at fussy cutting, but I give it my best, and I’m fairly pleased with this effort. The smiley face and ‘Just Sayin” (from Crazy About You) are both stamped in Marina Mist, as is the flower stamp in the background.

I loved creating this card, and will certainly be taking the Global Design Project challenge again!

Crazy in Love

Stampin' Up! UK Valentines card

It’s never too early to start thinking about the next holiday, and although I’m in full Christmas mode now, I’ve started to plan things for Valentines (I wish I was always this organised, I’m sure I’ll still be panicking about a card 2 days before Valentines!)

Stampin' Up! UK Love You Crazy About You card

This simple 4 x 4″ card (4 x 8″ scored at 4″) is in Thick Whisper White. I’m loving the Gold Foil at the moment and a hint of gold just sets this card off. The sentiment is from Crazy About You, stamped in Melon Mambo and cut out into individual words, layered onto a heart of Pink Pirouette.

Stampin' Up! UK Valentines card

One of my most frequently used design tricks is the Magic of Threes – 3 of something, usually in a sort of triangle on the card. Here I have created a trio of trios – 3 little peals in a triangle, repeated 3 times

So cute!

Have you started thinking about events after Christmas yet?

On Stage Live | Swaps

Stampin' Up! UK On Stage Live Swaps

There is nothing us demonstrators like more than swapping ideas and inspiration! I’m away this week at On Stage Live in Brussels with hundreds of other demonstrators from around the world getting ideas and inspiration, as well as some sneaky peaks of things coming in January!

Stampin' Up! UK On Stage Live Crazy About You

I had great fun making 50 of these cards. A swap is usually just a card front (although this one is a full card, and was my prototype!), and some demonstrators go further and swap little bags or boxes. I made some cute little bag swaps for Regional Training back in May that contained little chocolates, but seeing as I was travelling this time (and on the train) I decided to keep things simple and do a card.

I really do apologise for the quality of these pictures, white on white photography is hard and I definately haven’t mastered it yet! Any tips anyone?

The panel on the front is embossed with the Large Polka Dot embossing folder and popped up on Dimensionals. I had a great inky time ink blending the tags with Bermuda Bay, Mint Macaron and Pool Party ink and my sponges. I had a full assembly line going for these, making each component individually before final assembly. Cutting and embossing, Die cutting the Hello thinlit, stamping and punching, Stamping the You with White Craft Ink (and allowing heaps of time for it to dry) etc. etc.

Stampin' Up! UK On Stage Live Swaps

The sentiment is from Crazy About You, along with the flower / scalloped thingy. I can’t believe I managed to tie 50 reasonable bows with linen thread either!

Hope everyone who received one loves them as much as me! I have kept some back though, especially for my wonderful customers – place an order with me either via email or using the hostess code before the end of the month and I’ll be putting on of these in the post for you

Happy Birthday! (the awkward family member edition!)

Stampin' Up! UK Crazy About you birthday card

I love my family, I really do, but there are certain family members who cause me a stupid amount of stress when it comes to birthdays!

This past weekend it was James’ youngest sisters 16th  birthday, cue a full week of stress about birthday cards, presents and wrapping! I love my sister-in-law, but making a card for a 16 year old girl I swear is harder than making men’s birthday cards!

Stampin' Up! UK rainbow birthday card

I think I was channelling my inner Laura Bassen when I made this card, I LOVE watching her waffle whilest she is cardmaking on her YouTube channel. Laura makes a heap of cards with rainbow colours, which I don’t do very often. My mum once commented that all my cards were dull, well Mother, this one will knock your eyes out!

I grabbed my Brights collection ink pads; Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Tempting Turquoise and Rich Razzleberry, to stamp this leaf from Crazy About You. The sentiment is also from the same stamp set, birthday stamped in Rich Razzleberry and Happy die cut from Melon Mambo card stock using the coordinating framelits!

There is a little extra detail on this one, but the camera hasnt’ picked it up very well. I scored a line 0.5 cm round the edge of the stamped piece before attaching it onto a card base of Thick Whisper White with Dimensionals

Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge – Week 1!

Stampin' Up! UK Sketch Challenge Lovely Lace Die cutting Card

Stampin' Up! Sketch Challenge

Thank you for joining us on the first Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge! We’re a small group of Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrators who fancied a new challenge to share with you all.  The products used are all available in the current Annual, or seasonal, Stampin’ Up!® Catalogues*.  Simply use the buttons at the bottom of the post to keep hopping!

My regular blog readers will know how much I love a sketch challenge, and I am so excited to be taking part in this one!

Stampin' Up! UK Simply Sketched Challenge Week 1

The lovely Sam Johnson has designed this lovely sketch this week, and it scared the pants off me! However, after about a week of staring at it, and find some further inspiration in Instagram, I finally managed to actually make something!

Stampin' Up! UK Sketch Challenge Lovely Lace Die cutting Card

Definitely outside of my usual clean and simple style, but I’m super pleased with this card. I used my favourite embossing folder, Lovely Lace, to emboss a piece of Very Vanilla card stock. I love this folder so much that I actually need to replace it – its currently held together with parcel tape! Shocking I know, but that is how much use it has had!

Once I had the piece embossed I added ink around the edges of the card stock with my Stampin’ sponges, inked in Tip Top Taupe, Chocolate Chip and Blackberry Bliss. I have been taking colour inspiration from the packs of Designer Series Paper recently, and have done the same here – using the Farmers Market Paper Pack.

Stampin' Up! UK Simply Sketched Challenge Hello You

I added two strips of the Designer Series Paper to the bottom of the card after using my Triple Banner Punch to fishtail the ends, and completed the sketch with a Vellum circle added with two Glue Dots.

The sentiment is taken from the Crazy About You stamp and die bundle, and I used my Blackberry Bliss ink to emboss the word Hello – mainly because the ink takes so long to dry on Vellum, adding some clear embossing powder and heat setting it meant that I could get this card finished! The die cut ‘You’ is in Tip Top Taupe and is attached using Tombow Multi-purpose glue.

I finished the card with four of the Metal Rimmed Pearls

Technique Tuesday | Faux In-lay Die Cutting

I have recently fallen head of heals in love with my Big Shot machine again. My Big Shot was one of those big ticket items I bought when I started crafting 5 years ago, and I have to admit it didn’t get the love and attention it deserved. However, since becoming a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator last year, the amount of use my Big Shot gets keeps increasing, and I am the first to admit that its starting to get tired through over use! I am in desperate need of new cutting plates since my current set are now sporting the ‘stained glass’ effect, and I am forever tightening the handle. I might have to buy it some Christmas presents this year!

Stampin' Up! UK Faux InLay Die Cutting Technique Tuesday

I really enjoy the In-lay die cutting technique, but trying to get all those pieces back into the paper can be a bit of a pain. I have recently tried a few different types of Faux In-Lay Die Cutting, using both the big shot AND punches!

There is a Big Shot add on that is a must for this one, the Premium Crease Pad. Designed to help form the creases when using Bigz Dies, the crease pad stops the die from cutting all the way through your card stock, leaving an embossed effect. This works on both detailed dies, like the Hello You Thinlits, and Butterflies Thinlit dies (love those!) as well as framelit dies, like the Flower Fayre dies that coordinated with the Flower Patch stamps

Stampin' Up! UK Faux In Lay Die cutting video tutorial

In-layed punching is super simple, and is really effective with stamped images, or Designer Series Paper. Keep your eyes on a blog for some more of this technique for sure!

Freshly Made Sketches 195 – Cardmaking 101 Process video

Stampin' Up! UK Freshly Made Sketches Crazy About You Video tutorial

Disclaimer: I got totally ahead of myself this week, and planned this video as the final part of my Cardmaking 101 series (my brain is complete mush right now, call it Wedding brain!) I am planning something else for next weeks Cardmaking 101 (probably another process video) but I am compiling a list of card making FAQ’s, do you have a burning card making question, let me know in the comments section below and I’ll answer it next Sunday!

I thought I would show you my card making process, using a sketch from Freshly Made Sketches. I have been really enjoying using sketches in card making recently, generally because it makes me make cards I wouldn’t normally make!

Stampin' Up! UK Freshly Made Sketches

This is the sketch for this week. I always try and modify the sketch a little, and not use it completely literally – for example here I have rotated the card by 90 degrees, but I might choose a different shape, or move the sentiment a little, just to convert the sketch in to something a little more my style.

Stampin' Up! UK Freshly Make Sketches Cardmaking 101 Crazy About You

I had loads of fun making this card, even though I made several mistakes (all in the video!). I swapped the circles for these scallop circle flowers from Crazy About You, and added the leaves in the background.

Don’t forget to ask your card making questions in the comments section below.

Inlay Die Cutting

Stampin' Up! UK Crazy about you Hello You diecutting

I do love a great technique, and I have been playing with this one for a few weeks (and covering myself and my desk in the process!) but the results are fabulous!

Stampin' Up! UK Inlay die cutting

I have to admit that the picture here looks better than the card does in person, I have the card in front of me and I’m looking at gluey finger prints! but it’s still a cool technique – but keep that baby wipe on hand to keep yours hands free of glue (because you WILL make a gluey mess!)

See what I mean, gluey mess! I don’t edit my videos very often, only if I’ve had an interruption like the doorbell going or my phone ringing, and so you will always get ‘live’ bloppers! I hope you enjoy them!

The original ‘Hello’ card uses our brand new 2015-2017 In-Colours in Watermelon Wonder and Mint Macaron, while the video version is in Marina Mist (I’m still a little obsessed with this colour!). I’m loving the new In-Colours; took me a while to get used to the super bright Watermelon and Cucumber though! what great additions to our colour collection.

Stampin' Up! UK Crazy about you Hello You diecutting

How to Inlay die cut:

Using the Hello You thinlits dies die cut your chosen word in coloured card stock.

Using your Magnetic platform to ensure correct die placement, die cut the same word out of your Whisper White layering piece – remember that this is your card front to carefully place the die where you want the word to be at the end!

Make sure you keep the little pieces from the die cut, keep them safe! you will need them in a moment.

Apply your glue of choice (I use Snail) to the back of your Whisper White layering piece and attach it to your card front.

Using a 2-way Glue Pen apply glue to the back of the coloured die cut, slotting it into the space on the front of your card. I did try this with Tombow glue and made a huge mess!

Using your 2-way glue pen again apply glue into the holes in the die cut, slotting the Whisper White die pieces back into the die cut.

This gives you a completely flat card, great for posting! Awesome!
