Technique Tuesday | Ink Blending

Stampin' Up! UK Wonderland Ink Blending

This weeks Technique is one I have used a lot recently, I have a small pile of cards that all feature this same technique, and I love it!

Stampin' Up! UK Wonderland Ink Blending

This technique uses ink, ink and more ink! be prepared for inky fingers with this one!

To create this card you will need; several shades of a similar colour and a Stampin’ Sponge. This card uses Pink Pirouette, Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry, Blackberry Bliss, along with the Wonderland Stamp set and the brand new Archival Basic Black Ink.Stampin' Up! UK ink blending technique tuesday wonderland

Top Tips:

  • I chop my sponges into between 4 and 6 pieces, and label each one with a piece of card stock to help keep my fingers clean
  • Tap your sponge in your ink pad to load it with ink, starting off your card stock, rub your sponge in circles, working the ink onto the card stock
  • Start with the lightest colour first, and slowly blend in each additional colour.

I’m loving this stamp set, those trees are simply stunning! why not check out my Stampin@Home class this month featuring the same stamp set!

Seasons of Cheer!

Stampin' Up! Seasons of Cheer Designer Series Paper cardmaking

Hello!

welcome to a fresh new week here at StampinByHannah. I have to admit things are insane around here at the moment, I am struggling to get back into the swing of life after the Wedding and Honeymoon – 2 weeks away from home is too long I think 🙁 and so I am a little behind with my usual blog admin. I did however take a personal day last Friday, moved my craftroom to the sofa and make a stack of projects whilst catching up on the last few weeks of The Great British Bake off! Although, it did leave me wanting cake!

Stampin' Up! Seasons of Cheer Designer Series Paper cardmaking

I shared a sneaky peak of this card last week, totally outside of my usual style and comfort zone, however, that is my crafting aim at the moment – to step outside my comfort zone, to make cards I wouldn’t usually create, to share more of my creations, and to book some parties and classes outside of my home (if you want to host, please drop me an email!)

At this point, I have a confession to make, I LOVE patterned paper! I LOVE it! I have heaps and heaps of it, and I look at it, and I stroke it, and very rarely do I actually USE it! I find using Designer Series Paper on cards a real challenge. I posted recently in a Facebook group about this, and had a mountain of great suggestions and inspiration, and this card is born of that chat. I am a simple cardmaker, I’m a stamper, and one layer cards with minimal embellishment is my thing….well not anymore!

I am totally in love with this card, and that Designer Series Paper (its called Seasons of Cheer and its on page 29 of the Autumn / Winter catalogue!) and am loving playing with layers and matts, and ribbon and punches and loads of things that I had bought but never used because I was too scared to step out of my crafty bubble.

What do you struggle with when cardmaking?

(oh, that stamp, that’s new too, and it can be found in the Hello December 2015 Project Life by Stampin’ Up! stamp set!)

Christmas Countdown | Sleigh Ride

Stampin' Up! Sleigh Ride edgelits jingle all the way

I am loving the bundles in the latest Stampin’ Up!® Autumn / Winter catalogue, did you know there are 17 bundles this time around?! That’s 17 chances to save 15%! Awesome!

One of my favourites is the Sleigh Ride Bundle, featuring the Jingle all the Way Stamp set, and Sleigh Ride Edgelits – designed to work together to make building Christmas scenes easy!

Stampin' Up! Sleigh Ride edgelits jingle all the way

I have really enjoyed doing these videos as part of Christmas Countdown. I changed things up a little making this series, and recorded voice-overs, what have you thought of them? There are a couple left before I transition into my 12 Weeks of Christmas series this year. I am so excited for this, I have some awesome projects planned, can’t wait!

I have no idea what has happened to my camera since I have been away, but suddenly everything is rather yellow – so I have edited this and the next few video’s on my YouTube channel (have you subscribed yet?) but hopefully its not too distracting

So, this card; I have focused here on tone-on-tone stamping and simple die cutting. This bundle is great, with a stamp set that is designed to add details to the die cuts created by the edgelits. The card base here is in Soft Sky, with the trees in Pear Pizzazz, and houses in Marina Mist.

What’s your favourite bundle from the new catalogue?

Washi Birthdays….

Stampin' Up! UK Cherry on Top Birthday Card

I love Washi Tape, but I have to say, I use it more in my planner than I do on crafty projects. It was James’ youngest brothers Birthday last week, and I wanted to create a simply, but fun card for him – so I grabbed my Cherry on Top Washi tape! I have mentioned before how much I love the colours in this suite of products; they are just so fun!

Stampin' Up! UK Cherry on Top Birthday Card

Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, Watermelon Wonder, Cucumber Crush, and Soft Sky make for a wonderful happy birthday! The Designer Series Paper is also Cherry on Top (definitely my must have patterned paper at the moment!) with some stripes of Washi behind the sentiment piece.

‘It’s your birthday’ comes from Big News

Divided Sweetie Box

Stampin' JUp! divided sweetie box video tutorial

I just LOVE this box! I think it would be great for Christmas or Easter gift giving and you could totally dress it up with some cute ribbon or a bit of punch work.

Stampin' Up! UK sweetie box video tutorial

The sweeties in the box are some I bought from Amazon for the sweetie bar at out Wedding, but they just weren’t quite right – but they found there use! I still have a heap of them left so you never know who might be receiving some soon (maybe some lovely Stampin@Home participants, maybe!).

Measurements:

Box Base –

card stock; 6 x 6″ (15.2 x 15.2 cm)

Score at 1″ (2.5 cm) on all four sides

Box Lid –

card stock; 5 9/16th x 5 9/16th (14.1 x 14.1 cm) I know these measurements are a little awkward but they make for the perfect lid that doesn’t fall off!

Score on all four sides at 3/4″ (2cm)

Now we need to cut that hole in the lid. My Stampin’ Trimmer is a European version, and only has metric measurements on the trimmer arm, so sorry but I only have metric measurements for this bit.

Insert the box lid into the trimmer and line up the first side at 10.2 cm, using the cutting blade on the trimmer to cut from 4 cm to 10.2 cm. Repeat this on all four sides and the centre square should just pop out!

Box Inserts –

I’ve used a different colour of card stock for the insides to add contrast, you could keep all the pieces the same colour if desired!

One piece of card stock measuring 4 x 5 1/2″ (10 x 14 cm)

Score on the long side at 2″ (5 cm) on both sides, flip over at score at 2 3/4″ (7 cm)

One piece of card stock measuring 2 x 5 1/2″ (5 x 14 cm)
